There are so many great Russian composers whose music has stayed in absolute obscurity for years. Roslavets is an example that comes to my mind. I wanted to check his string quartets but the 5th isn't even available if you don't pay for it.

I've loved this piece for almost 30 years, and now I entertain images of a cartoon of putin growing up and learning to chase rats through the alleyways with a broom and a hammer, winning his father's admiration to the point where the education in poisons begins and fully warps the mind of the emergent megalomaniac, and then post-pubertal cloaked psychopath seeking favoritism from the kremlin. Maybe they all end up looking like aggressive, arrogant rats when they assemble together, but when alone, in the bathroom mirror they each see themselves as if a lost child trapped trying to feel acceptable to bullies and monsters. No more perfect theme music could have ever been written for this sad character presently commanding the world stage with his bunker of billions and billions of offensive war-chest dollars, and holding the world hostage to fear of nuclear holocaust unleashed. I pray to see the ingenious cartoon work, someone is bound to do it with proper sick grandeur befitting the present awareness of our stupidity we all suffer. But ultimately, the future of next-generations humanity and hopefully their better, matured world needs to always remember what took place and keep it in competent perspective FOREVER. There is this great tragic-burlesque work by Stanchinsky carved from tormented synaptic processes, to have its uniquely fulfilling pedestal of purpose across time and benefiting education world-wide. I have always loved you and missed you, Stanchinsky.
