Awesome! At 68 years old I'm still amazed with 'magic'. I used to know many closeup tricks, I've forgotten most. Like anything it takes practice and more practice. Don't give up kids keep on practicing and it will come. Personally I like the svengali deck for beginners there's some pretty nice things you can do with that deck. Cheers!
I added a link to andyfieldmagic's Backhanded video in the description box. He has a great tutorial that uses a slightly different method of wrapping the rubber band around the deck.
Here's an idea: When I preform this trick I put the spectators hand in the rubber band and let them drop the deck when they want. It has a huge shook value when the card appears on the back of their hand. What do you guys think?
The spectator won't be able to keep a tight enough grip on the cards to prevent the bottom card from shooting out. They may also feel that the rubber band has separated on one side. Trick will not work unless you are in complete control of the cards.
If the card isn't going all the way around your hand, try bending the cards, as he does in the video. This has been working to help get it all the way around for me.
I've found that it's a better effect if the side where the card comes up and around your hand is facing away from the spectator;and if you turn your hand while you release the rest of the cards.
I've been doing a variation of this for quite sometime. The reactions are always spectacular. Thanks mismag!
There is a different effect where you can use a spectators hand. "Band up!" by James Brown allows this effect to occur in the spectators hands

If you're trying to learn and the card flies to your palm instead of the top of your hand, then just try bending the deck like he does when he holds it with one hand. Great trick :)
Great tutorial! Very in depth and informative, as always :D This reminds of of the Houdini card trick, mainly because it uses a rubber band. Keep up the great work! :)
I couldn't either at first. It just takes some practice and some adjustments ;) Make sure that your rubber band isn't too tight. If it is very difficult or impossible to keep the bottom card from jumping out early, then the rubber band is too small. Also, if it is tearing the edges of your cards, it is also too tight. To fix this, just use 1/2 to 3/4 of the deck, until you find the perfect amount of cards so that it works exactly how you want it. For me, I use around 30 cards. Hope this helps.
This trick is really great. Are any of your tricks ever original? Just wondering.
i'll respond to myself. I find that size 16 works a lot better. The knot stays in place, the band is easier to work with, and the card actually comes over a lot better. So play around with different size bands if you are having trouble.

I did all of your rubber band tricks and there are so easy!! I don't know why people think it's hard or fake! It is real... That's all Ian going to say.
A good thing to do when you're at the end of the trick is smash the deck on the table, so you don't make a mess and create a good sensation of ilusion
the rubber band keeps slipping off the knot/loop for me. And i'm using the size 32 bands. Any advice to keep it from slipping off?
Idea: When performing the trick keep the card on the top of the deck because you can say look your card isnt on the bottom of the deck or the top n when revealing the top card do a double lift then do the rest of the trick upside down so you can see the faces of the cards and so on.
if your having trouble with the rubber band go watch disturb reality's touch video, follow the moves and its similar to this. if that makes sense
That is a cool trick ..... but does the card always jump to back of ur hand ?? Isn't it get stuck there????
Hold on to the deck as they put their hand in the band. Say "Hold on to the deck tight, so wrap your fingers around all the cards, I don't want any to fall out"
Once you feel they have a good grip, let go. Look at them, say "Now on the count of three let go of the cards"
They are so concentrated on holding the deck and looking at you(since your looking at them) they pay no mind to the rubber band or cards.

I find it is better to let the cards fall to the table instead of catching them in your hand, not only is it more visual but also, if you put your other hand underneath, it looks like you're doing some sleight of hand.

What if you are missing a finger, I only have four fingers so I can't put the rubber band around all 5 fingers. I feel left out :(

This is only part of the effect. I believe the original creater of this effect was the guy from (25 tricks with the svengali deck by Marqha.com) Fenandopop1 has some good stuff though.
