doing another rustoleum paint job, same truck but different bed, went from step side to fleet side, owner didn't really care about the body work, hope you guys enjoy!
This is NOT addressed to you or anyone in particular but it's in general!! I've NEVER understood why you have some people complain or nit pick about certain things, like oh look at that tiny mark oh it doesn't flow right, there's some orange peels here & there etc. The paint job looks amazing! If it's NOT A SHOW CAR, & or your everyday driver/work vehicle then WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE!! It's better than it was before it was painted! Plus it's a damn $100 + paint job what the hell are you REALLY expecting?
People without the balls or patience to do the work themselves need to to nitpick to feel better about either 1. They paid 3k minimum for their paintjob 2. They are too lazy to do the massive amount of prep work before and after like this, so nitpicking the imperfections gives them the excuse to continue to drive their car with aged peeling paint. This is for people who want to paint their beaters/daily driver/work truck, its not a Ferrari, its not a showcar, nobody cares.
I'm going to use rustoleum automotive enamel spray cans on my peeling Silverado paint. The lacquer stuff doesn't last many years before it falls off. I suppose I should just get the spray gun but that's a whole new learning curve.
I did a truck in semi gloss black Rustoleum. I thinned it with lacquer thinner and got no orange peel. 50/50 mix. With proper prep it still looks good after eight years. It cost me $8.50. About $3.00 of thinner. I won a lot of trophies at car shows. Some people have followed my lead others think I'm pulling their leg. This was before I started my you tube channel. I'll do a video on it when I paint one of the trucks I'm building now.
I tell everyone that uses rustoleum like this, check out majic paint. I've used rustoleum, and I tried out majic brand farm and implement paint and it was amazing, turned out very good. One of my projects I used mf grey majic paint and came back over it with a 2k clear with a ghost white pearl mixed in and it looked awesome!
Spend the money, and buy the right one. Every painter I known , dead before 45 yr old. Stay away from urethane paints, with charcoal mask, they do not work.
@@coldsteel998 well I'm sure you think you're being funny but in fact that is precisely how the mask works. A dust particle or a covid virus particle is like a mini van sized particle trying to pass through a hole in a chain link fence and a atomised fume or smoke is like a grain of sand passing through the same chain link fence hole. Atoms do have VASTLY differing sizes.
Where you located at my dude??? I’d be interested in a paint job. Maybe if ur interested we can both vlog it. I’m also trying to grow my channel. Just let me know what u think G. God bless
Looks clean trying to do my hood, so on the orange peel do you wet sand/buff the paint or lay the clear then wet sand /buff the clear or do u do both wet sand the paint and the clear then buff?
Just watched your video and i have to tell you that paint job came out fantastic. Could you make a video on how and what you use to get rid of orange peel please.I'm a noob and i would like to get as much information as possible please to do an amazing job like you and many other people i watch online.Which gun do you use? What is the PSI on the gun .I'm sorry for asking questions, just want to learn.By the way thank you for this video I learned from you to spray slower in the heat, because here in ES it is hot. Thanks to you and anyone that may share their skills, ideas, and recommendations.
Looks great if not for the bugs, but not your fault not having a indoor place to paint it. My question is what was your solvent to paint ratio? Great job!
I wanna say I did it around June, I painted it back when I used to live in Bakersfield, im in the north bay now, its not too hard watch some videos on how to adjust the gun and practice on some random pieces, it should come out good, good luck!
I totally HATE AND DESPISE THIIS wagon wheel and thin tire craze going on out there these days! Wagon wheels and thin tires ruin the look of ANYTHING they are put on.
@@mexi_garage2021 They look much better with 15 inch wheels than this wagon wheel and thin tire stuff. Hope some day, very soon, that craze will soon go out of style and return back to the 14 and 15 inch wheels which are more practical along with better looking.
A truck or car painted cheaply with spray paint looks better than a truck or car rotting away from rust
Nothing wrong with a low budget paint job. I paint cars all the time low budget. Came out great buddy

Definitely a good job. I'm sure a strong wet sand and strong cutter can make it blind people lol

What didžioji you use to cut and buff
@@anthonymaniz9896 I don't cut and buff Rustoleum. It goes on smooth with a 50/50 mix.
Ive been thinning it about 30% and it looks decent, but will try 50/50 next time
Nice job entire rig looks really good in white and yes wear that respirator for your good health.
Good job 👍👍 nice street truck....
Can't believe that little table is holding up that rear box!!!...nice job with the paint👍
I really like the mismatched wheel sizes, great look 👍😂😂😂😂
Looks pretty damn good!!
I have to admit that is a nice job.
im currently doing the same to a 92 obs gmc project! nice vid man! great prep, people dont know how good this stuff actually is
If you have to do a quick cheap and dirty paint job white is the colour. It hides many sins.
Very sharp. Nothing wrong with this at all.
I like the use of the covid mask instead of Respirator.

Gotta give props to the guy who doesnt comb his hair...he was wearing NO socks with his sandals...powermove!
🤣
Looking good... I just subbed...liking the videos 🔥🔥🔥 keep them coming 💯
Looks perfect to me 👀 this is like what a 100$ paint job you saved so much ima try this
What the update since you paint the truck so far? Is it still holding up?
What else would you expect from a Mexican garage😂🤣😂🤣😂
Exactly 😂
Before you put the bed on truck I would put Bed liner all over the bottom .
That's surgical mask ain't doing you no justice
Spend the money, and buy the right one.

A dust mask to paint? Not smart! Paint thinners pass right thru that . Very dumb!
Yes but the dust masks work for a microscopic virus right? Lol

I painted that truck when I was living in Bakersfield ca, im currently living in the north bay, sonoma County
@@mexi_garage2021 damn fam. Aye maybe one day we can collaborate. I’m trying to grow my lil channel and network with the car and truck community.
Nice

Wet sand and buff that sould get rid of orange peel, you can clear after if you like

2000 grit Wet sanding... Cut and buff
Looks great if not for the bugs, but not your fault not having a indoor place to paint it. My question is what was your solvent to paint ratio? Great job!
Since I didn't have the regular ratio mesuaring cup, all I did is put 16oz paint and 4oz solvent and it came out perfect
can you paint a whole tahoe with 1 can?
Now all you need is matching rims🤣
Those are the burners on the back that’s why 😂 for when you wanna swing the truck 😎
what are the settings on the harbor freight gun? I have the purple gun that I have not used yet, and want to know wich is for max fluid and air.
Looks great. Question the step side I know the bed is rust oleum but is the rest of the truck factory white if so it looks like it matches good.
The only original white is the doors, and yeah it matches perfectly
@@mexi_garage2021 awesome. Thanks for the info.
I got the same DA. Things a beast
What brand is it?

How much did you spend on paint and primer?
It was like 10 bucks for the quart, I used the rustoleum white primer
What is reason for painting bottom-to-top instead of top to bottom? Does it help avoid runs?
Yes, that was the painter where I used to work told me to do it like that, he said your are more likely to get runs if you do top to bottom
Where are you located and what month of the year did you paint this truck? 🤔
Thinking about doing my own truck
I wanna say I did it around June, I painted it back when I used to live in Bakersfield, im in the north bay now, its not too hard watch some videos on how to adjust the gun and practice on some random pieces, it should come out good, good luck!
Why would you not fill the dents tho, your doing all that and to not fill those dents ?
Not my truck, my friend didn't want to
How long did it take for the paint to fully cure
About a week
How’s the paint holding up?
Haven't ask my buddy, since I move from Bakersfield 2 years ago, I should hit him up and ask him
So you are just going to paint over the dents?
Yeah he didn't care about any body work, he just wants it to be one color
What are compressor do you use
I used a 22 gal craftsman, of course the bigger the better that way you don't starved for air
chingon!
💯👍
I like your work👍. Check out my yukon denali, I plan to drop some 6s on it just like the wheels you have on your truck.
You automatically lose credibility when you do prep and body work in flip flops.
I totally HATE AND DESPISE THIIS wagon wheel and thin tire craze going on out there these days! Wagon wheels and thin tires ruin the look of ANYTHING they are put on.
I agree, may be im old school but I like the small wheel and fat tire kind of look!
