- Hello, everyone! Nice to see you again! Portrait painting is still present in the Islamic world, contrary to the rules of Islam. An example of this are the portraits of the sultans of the Ottoman Empire, who look sternly at the visitors from the walls of the Istanbul Military Museum. They were painted by the famous Turkish artist Nevzat Cevik, commissioned by the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces. It took him 18 months to study ancient miniatures, engravings and manuscripts to accurately convey through his brush what the Ottoman Empire looked like. Let's take a look at some of his work, which we brought to life with the help of neural networks. This is very exciting. Enjoy watching!
I lived in Turkey many decades ago, the history is worth reading about. Great food and the people were very nice.
Thank you
Thank you. Come again ☺️
I from Algeria and i love Turkey and its people and my family is half Turkish and i have a ottoman sword with its small knife with jewels .
I love the ottoman empire
@@ragnarson9333 you are lucky to have something from ottomans
People are not nice.
One of the longest and ancient empires, we should celebrate its legacy.
@@axelfury3189 in ottoman empire there were too many different nationalities. Today only some of turks are thinking that they were ottoman. As a turkish citizen I am embracing ottoman, byzantine, Rome etc. Because my genetic code is coming from all of those cultures and DNA. So our people are not just of words. Our people are people of the world like the others.
@@umutberdan7690 Im talking about all these white kids that always cry "we should learn about the colored peoples history" and yet stay ignorant to anything that actually resembles our culture or heritage, they just say what they need to say so the minorities think the whites give a shit now. WE do celebrate our legacy and have been, its the westerners that have been trying to torch it down for centuries.
Celebrate harem!
It is not an ancient empire!
@@umutberdan7690 I am a Turk and my identity was always Turk. I do not embrace Byzantine. We fought agains them and conquered these lands.
Sultan Murad IV was 28 when he passed away. I think the portrait made him look older than he really was.
If you look at his youth and how he grew up and the things he has seen from his brothers murder to revolts on revolts it makes sense for him to look like that.
Plz dont compare a 28 years old before to nowdays
Its not the same they gain early responsibilities then nowdays youth
If you research the troubles experienced during and after Murad's reign, you will clearly understand why she has aged so much.
@@esatmunkat1827 she?

Mehmed 2. Could speak 7 languages like his mother thounge. Fx: Greek, italian, arabic, persian, hebrew and turkish. Impressive!

@@Big-BossX you’r right bro :)
Pretty normal for Indian or asian children
Note that none of those paintings are real appearance of the sultans.
Sultans didn't allow to be painted in the early age, except for Mehmed II and Suleiman I, up until Mahmud II in early 18th century. And even during the reign of successor son of Mehmed II, Bayezid I had all paintings in the palace removed, which he thought it's sinful.
Reason why Mehmed II and Suleiman I have paintings by Bellini (Mehmed II) and Titan (Suleiman I) (which is not included in video but you can simply google it) was because they both were embracing towards arts work and they were simply more open minded. Meanwhile other sultans in the video like Selim I who was pretty pious and kept a very simple humble appearance throughout his life. There's even a story of him when he sees his son Suleiman I comes in his presence with accessories and fancy dress, Selim angrily says "ey Suleyman! if you dress this fancy, what is left to your mother?"
Mahmoud II was in 19th century, not 18th. And son of Mehmed II is Bayezid II, not Bayezid I. But you're correct overall, most paintings do not represent the real appearances of the sultans
bulllllshittt they didnt allow TURKS / MUSLIMS TO PAINT THEM.. all these paintings are almost all are italians hired by the Sultans-their own men. different decades, even centuries. still italians, venetians, austrians etc. who painted them.. they didnt allow this in islam. hence why they were so advanced in ceramics designs etc. because muslims didnt make paintings of mankind-sculptures.
Well it's not sinful it's okays
@@mazakantc5532 what ??? , it's okay in Islam to paint, that It depends on the sect that the state follows, but in all Sunni sects there is a difference so far between those who prohibit drawing people and those who say that it is permissible. 👍.
@@davidberrada5993 dont care hanafi pr whatever the ottomans followed didnt allow it this is a fact hence why you find any muslim sculturers or painters within the empire
Suleiman was known to be extremely shy and handsome. They said he always lowered his gazes in front elder court people and always had a small smile in his face.
@uchihaindark bir türk olarak dediğinize katılıyorum efendim👍🏻😊
@uchihaindark maybe he was just showing respect and humility to elders, that's also a sign that he cared about rules and laws.
Too much shyness isn't really advised if you're an important figure but to be modest is good even if you rule the world.
A lot of people are debating here.
Yes he was said to have heen shy but that was when he was still young and had only recently become sultan
It is very proud that people around the world know about the Ottoman sultans.

This was fun! And seemed accurate. Very interesting work and concept. 👌
very inaccurate to be factual.
Suleiman and Selim II were most gorgeous indeed❤️
Selim II was said to be fat and short.Short from his mother and fat due to overeating and drinking. But for a sultan he was a good person, the series made him nearly evil.In the series he is good looking, slim and 1cm taller than his father
Suleiman was described as tall, thin, long necked, black hair and big nose and in good spirits. After all the tradegies it was said he was thinner than normal, pale and constantly sad looking and easy to anger
Oh my! Hurrem Sultana was a petite red haired beautiful lady it seems 🧐

Last Hybrid Hmm...
dipanwita dasgupta Well Hürrem and Kösem are said to be the most beautiful women in the entire Ottoman Empire
Nice work, but unfortunately, all the pictures belonging to other Sultans except Sultan Osman II are wrong and there is not the slightest similarity.
My favorite Sultan among them is Selim I.
Brave,overbold,fearless
He passed the Sinai Desert on horseback with his army and conquered Egypt. He took Mecca and Medina from Mamluks.
Before that, he entered Persian territory to destroy the Shiite state, but his Janissaries constantly wanted to go back.
Great king
No, you got it wrong - Yavuz did not cross the Sinai on Horseback, he was on Foot, he felt that the Prophet Muhammed (saw/pbuh) was leading him, with this notion in his mind he felt ashamed to be on horseback.
Yavuz was a great Shah!
@@GreverManner4512 Yup Suleiman success was built from his fathers hard work and perseverance. The lion of Islam.
@@summersong5876 You guys are totally overlooking the fact of how big the shoes 👞 of Yavuz were to fill.
Had Suleyman not been Magnificent he would not have been accepted to the level of his father - when Suleyman ascended the throne he knew the size of the task ahead, he had no choice but to be grandiose.
Murad the Fourth... The pyhsically strongest Sultan amongst the Ottoman Sultans...
By far the cruelest and bravest
They were the tough and mighty people of their time!
Sultan Ahmed & his son Sultan Murad from Kosem, they both died young at 27, same age. But in these they seem in early 40s.
These are not accurate.
It's propaganda.
We shouldn't compare our time with theirs since do you know how many difficulties& palace and other political intrigues and games, the death of their own brothers and other siblings they've seen and lived out? Yet there are a lot of reasons why they looked older for their ages...
Wow, amazing. Hugs from Brazil 🇧🇷
Our ancestors who once shook the world. Loves from Turkey:)
I want to see the young Sultan Suleyman's pic....

Padişahlarım Çok Yaşayın.. 🙂
They were all beautiful in their own way. This is fantastic!
I think that they made them look more Arabic. In real they must look more European because for sanctuaries they married European slave girls.
The funniest thing is i have been in turkey before and some turkish people hate ottoman empire, every single things they have now belongs to Ottoman empire yet they hate.
I can see brave and heroic personality in Mehmet II profile.
And Suleyman has the real charismatic as a King.
I don't understand what your nonsense. It is true that the Turks mixed with the Caucasian and Slavic peoples. The Turks even mixed with the Celts. But the Turks are not Mongols or Arabs, as the Europeans make it ridiculous. Turks are a white (aryan) ethnicity speaking Altai. The highest rate in genetic tests performed on all Turks is haplogroup R1-a. Ertuğrul, who founded the Ottoman Empire, probably had blond hair. Blonde hair is inherited to us Turks from our ancestors, not from genetic confusion with Slavs or other peoples. In Turkey, the phenotype varies according to the region or city.
But I thought Turks and Mongols were related
Mongols and Turkic are from the same regions, they fought together eat together,hunting... everyone know that Turks and Mongols are not same people but we are not from the same family, short together, mongolians only turks could live together
Real turks are asian and not european. Stop whitewashing... And turkish people arent even white. Real white people look like germans or english people.

Ottoman dynasty sultans are among the most physically beautiful kings in the world. Because their mothers were chosen from beautiful slave girls. The most ancient Türks known in history were from the area between Hazar sea-Black sea and south of Ural mountains (eng. Caspian). They were Caucasoid. Türkiye Türks are Oğuz Türk. Türks who immigrated to Altai mountain zone nearby China are a different branch. They are Kıpçak Türk. They mixed with Far eastern Asian peoples. There were other Türk origin dynasties at Siberia, India, Iran, Central Europe and Egypt. All Türk dynasties mixed with the folks around them. So it is very natural we have many differnet looks similar to ancient Romans. Türkishness is not about race but national identity. We ruled everyone. So we understand why you are upset. But we are equal now. We are the people not the ancient dynasties. If you show respect you will get respect. This is the golden rule of being a civilised person.

The reason is Europe's Turkish phobia. They were constantly defeated by the Turks for nearly 1000 years and they were very afraid of the Turks. Des rites tribaux de la yourte innitiale jusqu'au palais de Topkapi et d'autres palais encore plus sublimes de conception de l'ecuelle à la fine porcelaine que de chemins parcourus depuis

If anyone is interested for official descriptions for the Sultans
Fatih Sultan Mehmed II:
Very crooked nose, face of shallow complexion, dark brown/redish beard
Yavuz Sultan Selim I:
Tall, broad shouldered and a dark moustache
Kanuni Sultan Suleiman I The Magnificent:
During his youth he was described as tall and slender, with a long neck and crooked legs, sparse facial hair, hooked nose, slightly broad shoulders, strong glare.
During his later years he was described as even thinner as he wasnt eating properly due to all the losses his suffered, this habit seemed to have mainly started after killing his son Mustafa with many ambassadors claiming his character had worsened and he was always sad looking.
Sultan Selim II The Sot:
Short(which came from Hurrem),overweight(due to his love of pleasure),light redish/blonde hair and beard
Sultan Mehmed III:
Dark haired and extremely obese
Fatihi Baghdad Sultan Murad IV:
Round face, hazel eyes, pitch black beard, broad shouldered, muscular and overall very large.
There is a lot of debate on his height, with him supposedly being very tall but one ambassador described him as being average height.
Overall its likely the ambassador was a race of taller people and Murad was still quite tall for a Turk(Turks are a bit short)
This is fantastic

Full of bullshit, especially for Süleyman "The Magnificent". Your "Artificial Intelligence" can't even make a good representation with the portrait made by Tiziano Vecelli . In all history resources, it's accepted that the most resembling portrait of Süleyman I was made by Tiziano Vecelli. Your "AI" can't even respect the specific nose of the Ottoman Sultans. Most of representations of the Sultans was made with oral description, so the painters never see the Sultans in face to face ( except Tiziano Vecelli). So don't publish a video with a lot of erroneous informations with the argument of "AI".
You have used the same paintings for most of them. Using the same features.
and in this stupid "Magnificent Century" films, Suleyman 1st has blue eyes, and looks NOTHING like the REAL Suleyman, as he is depicted here, and which I suppose is a true depiction, unlike the other Sultans, whose pictures aren't real even here in this video.
