- ► What Historical Figures Might Look Like If They Lived Today Vol.2
► Hello everyone and welcome back to Mystery Scoop. An artist uses AI tools to create a modern version of historical figures.
Have you ever wondered what historical figures might look like if they lived today? Well, a digital artist named Hidreley Diao, from Brazil, had a similar question and he used modern AI tools to figure it out. He created a realistic depiction of some of history's most iconic figures, capturing their main facial characteristics, while keeping in mind that if they lived in this day and age, modern lifestyle would have created a slightly twisted version of them. Let's have a look at a few amazing examples of his work, bringing historical figures to life, with a little AI animation thrown in the mix.
Please check the video to see historical figures AI recreated as modern people today. Let us know which AI reconstructed face you liked most!

Fun fact: Mozart probably didn’t look like that. Ironically, this portrait by Barbara Krafft is the most famous, but when it was painted, Mozart was dead for thirty years, and she never met him during his lifetime. None of Mozart's portraits are the "same". But we know from his father Leopold Mozart, that the "Bologna Mozart" portrait certainly looked like him. Mozart’s father wrote about it: "It has little value as a piece of art, but as to the issue of resemblance, I can assure you that it is perfect".
PS: Little detail, Vivaldi was red head
PPS: Thanks for your appreciation guys :)
Thank you, music fan here
Awesome!
The red priest.
Thank you for the info...very valuable. Vivaldi a red head? wow. Mozart does look most intelligent in the Martini Bologna's portrait!
Thank you.
Caesar Augustus sieht gut aus
This just makes you realize how different everyone could be if they were just born and raised in different circumstances. Napoleon today could be just your quirky co-worker.

It's about the money and the influence your family have

Nah, I just have an extensive knowledge
Anne Of Cleves look like a model
Caesar Augustos looks like a Christian Dior's model...
Napoleon looks like he'd be telling short jokes in stand up comedy!
Or leading a British Prog Rock band
Shakespeare too :D
I thought so too!
I think Amazon made a commercial about that, once.
That's what they said
Watching these I feel something strange, it's as if each and every one of them could be just a random person on a random street crossing paths with you. Such great figures of history and yet so strangely normal looking. It makes me wonder just what kind of adventures and achievements every other person on the street has had. Because without knowing it you could be crossing paths with someone that might leave a huge mark on this world.
That’s such a fascinating idea. I agree with you 100% 😊
I was thinking that many of the pictures look like real people that somone just took a picture of, and decided to compare them.
Augustus is too handsome. He was known for actually being fairly ordinary looking. The statues were meant to make him more handsome than he was in real life.
not true at all
/says.... who?
Historians and other scribes would disagree with you. Suetonius wrote that he was “exceptionally handsome and attractive at every stage of his life, though careless of his personal appearance.”
“His expression was always so mild and serene, whether silent or in conversation, that a Gallic chieftain, who had used the pretext of seeking an audience to approach him, as he was crossing the Alps, once confessed to his countrymen that his heart had been so softened on seeing Augustus’ face that he had abandoned his original intent to push him over the cliff.
His eyes, which he liked people to think possessed divine power, were clear and bright, and it gave him great delight if whoever he gazed at keenly looked down, as if dazzled by the radiant sun.”
There is more but you get it
actually there are honest and detailed descriptions of roman emperors .we know how tall tey were, eye colour etc
@@justbreathe_ but I would be carefull with believing this exactly in every detail. Roman historians used to describe the appereance of the different emperors in a mannor very depending on their general judgement of their character. for example are "bad" Emperors (just meaning "these who the majority of the senate didn't like in the end") often depicted as ugly and repelling (for example Caligula). and Augustus' appearance/ Good lookings - he was more liked by the most senatores then most later emperors - was therefore maybe exaggerated. difficult to tell. Surely he wasnt ugly, maybe good looking. I just want to say we cant tell this exactly.
Shakespeare looks like a British darts player😁 I can imagine him with a pint of beer on the table.
😂😂😂😂😂
No, he looks like a guy at a Mid-Western Walmart! 🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Shakespeare's was the most believable
Caesar Augustus looks like a movie star. ⭐
It is Daniel Craig for me. 😄
From Emperor of Rome to Emperor of Hollywood
He was my favorite then Vincent Van Gogh was handsome too.
Or an Abercrombie model
@@oOIIIMIIIOo Not one bit , Daniel Craig is actually not a good-looking guy at all , Caesar Augustus's creation is sublime
This is so amazing! You know what I want to see? Modern day famous people as medieval paintings or sculptures, now that would be interesting
Alexander and Augustus could both have been models.
Shakespeare, Vivaldi, and Botticeli are incredible. But my favourite is Van Gogh, considering his self portrait wasn't as realistic as the other pieces of art. He even looks sad and lost.
Shakespeare looks like he's been to Epstein's island a few times lol
For me it is Anne of Cleves.. she's looks so sweet and beautiful
I don't think Shakespeare was that big
Napoléon is really well made, because if we don't have of course photographs of Napoléon, we have some of her younger brother Jérôme (when he was old) and of his nephew (known for his striking resemblance to him), and they looked really like this. Fascinating.
It's kind of weird how "normal" he looks. Like, he's got the kind of face that you would pass by on the street without thinking about. Neither handsome nor ugly. Just extremely average.
@@mr.itchywrath maybe the appearance of leaders didn't matter so much before photography
Also, he has a living descendant in the UK that looks like him.

The day I showed this video to my 8th grade history class was the day I nearly fell out of my desk chair. I'd shown lots of these before but I never imagined I'd glance up and look into the face of "the one who I let get away." My students all heard me gasp! I couldn't help it because it completely took me by surprise. ~ Saladin. Beautiful work!
Always!
Saladin the lifestyle blogger, Akhenaten the runway model, Alexander the actor, Nefertiti the Singer, Ceasar the model! They were all gorgeous.
Mona Lisa the art gallery owner
Napoleon Bonaparte looks REALLY friendly...I doubt he was like that in real life...But, as ever, you did an AMAZING job...
Napoleon Bonaparte looks like Robin Williams.
@@KEN-1991 😄😄yes he does...
Bonaparte was what situation needed him to be. We always think of these people through their deeds they performed. But we never know who these people were privately, intimately in their own heads.
@@MIMALECKIPL You're right...
It would be funny, If Napoleon Just exists today and suddenly there is a French Empire going on this year.
Augustus Caesar was the least accurate imo, because his jaw and chin shape was completely off and his eyes were not exact. Otherwise the rest were pretty close but not exact except some who looked exactly as their picture.
I agree we need to take into account how Augustus was described by contemporary historians. His statues were deliberately made more handsome than he actually was, as a form of propaganda. In reality he would have been decent looking but with a weaker chin and certainly not a model.
@@ladyreverie7027 I was rather refering to his face in reference to the statue lol
The AI version looks like a supermodel.
Eyes, brows, cheekbones, nose, lips, chin looks exact like the sculpture the hair too different tho.
I feel like almost all of the noses were off. In the modern images they all seemed very narrow, long, and pointy.
Leonardo Da Vinci carried the Mona Lisa around with him his entire life and continued to work on it. He never gave it to the client. Now I know why. The painting was his ideal woman. He had an emotional attachment to the painting.
Superb job!!!!
Alexander the great most likely in our age would have been a tiktok influencer.
So I’m now in love with Alexander the Great 😂
Get in line sister!
He conquered more than nations it seemed.
...and Caesar Augustus...simply gorgeous 😍
Every art historian knows the Greco-roman sculptures were unrealistic human idealizations....
You clearly haven't seen Nero's then.
Van Gogh looked exactly like Kirk Douglas and that’s that! 😂
Great work. Thank you.
I love how Saladin is giving me Joey Fatone vibes 😁
could a movie be made using these likenesses? wouldn’t that be fascinating
The AI versions are amazing, the look like real people.
Amazing! Thank you.
Napoleon's modern appearance looks like if he became the Bob Ross of home DIY videos😂. But jokes aside, the AI did a phenomenal job recreating his features
There were slight differences that didn’t seem realistic. Some were almost too perfect.
I agree. I think the jawlines were off in some of them, especially Caesar Augustus. That approximation looked like a male model with little relationship to the statue.
I don't many of them would had been like this in reality
Please, someone make a movie about all these people being born in the modern world in an alternative reality
A fanfiction would do too
Bill & Ted Resurrection
sad to say that had they been born in modern times, many of them would not have been able to achieve their greatness due to the regimented nature of the modern society we live in, they wouldn’t have even had time to indulge in their craft as feverishly as they did in their time
Don't give away your ideas. It do it!
Well wishes.
Clone High?
I love love love these! 😃 As a history lover, this makes the people of the past so much more real ...and I feel like more relatable/understandable too.
🤔 It'd be interesting if the artist calculated into the A.I. generations the resemblance to parents (I'm thinking specifically with English royalty, since other historical figures may not have paintings/statues of family).
Bellissime riproduzioni....ma Chopin non assomiglia abbastanza!
Such excellence! As always! I particularly loved the Shakespeare and Van Gogh! All depictions are just spot on! Such a great channel?
I enjoy everything that you guys put out! To me Mona Lisa looked a lot older than I thought she was.
Indeed. And her eyes were too hooded in AI picture. To me, Saladin and Ceasar were also too young and boyish. All in all, watching how the faces were "modernized " is quite interesting.
I remember watching an episode of, "Unsolved Mysteries", whereby it was argued that the Mona Lisa was really Leonardo Da Vinci. When comparing Da Vinci's facial features to the Mona Lisa, the resemblance was striking. However, I really don't know what to think about that.
@@ewaleokadia76 interesting theory. You never know.
@@jillwanlin9558True, because you never know what inspires an artist's creativity😊. If I remember correctly, a comparison was made to Da Vinci's pencil drawing of himself to the Mona Lisa painting. I think they put the drawing to the painting and discovered how the drawing fits perfectly to the Mona Lisa. So, perhaps Mona Lisa's mysterious smile is really a joke on us as if Da Vinci is thrilled to know that he had us fooled. Personally, I would like this same test done again by other experts to confirm or deny😀.
Alexander The Great looks like Layne Staley, first lead singer of Alice in Chains. This one sang a lot!
May God rest his soul.
They both died young
@@MarshFogBand Don't you think it is strange Staley died young. "Alice in Chains band exploded in the scene in 1990 with their promotional EP *We Die Young* . Now think again.
@@DedicatedLightWorker yeah, because the song is about kids doing drugs and Layne later died from an overdose in 2002

I don't think the Nefertiti image looks anything like the Egyptian sculpture. The rest look pretty darn good.
I.think gorgeous photomodel iman took after much more nefertiti, ',,s statue
I love these. Such a wonderful depiction of these famous people. I thought the Mozart one was an astonishing recreation. I actually said "Wow" when I saw it.
Cleopatra hit me for six!! Nothing like i thought she might look like, just shows how Hollywood's interpretations are way off. They sell us what they look like & then that's implanted into our minds. It's just absolutely amazing!
Mozart was great to me as well. Reminds me not to judge a talent by appearance

Rembrandt looking spot on as always!😁
I find it weird seeing a lot people complain about how a lot of the models are inaccurate but keep in mind, they said this is what they would look like in the modern era and that if they lived today, it WILL create a twisted version of them. There are videos on this channel that show how they looked like back then and those are far more accurate.
That explains the change of clothes and hairstyle, but not the change of facial structure.
Augustus Caesar has a whole different face shape.
@@MMadesen Roman sculpture often idealized rulers into one of a handful of basic "ideal" face shapes. So the real man likely wasn't super close to the statue anyway.
@@MMadesen. Nefertiti’s a completely different ethnicity here.
The anguish in Van Gogh’s eyes is heartbreaking! And can’t believe Henry VIII thought Anne of Cleves was ugly! If she looked like she is depicted here, she was really pretty. And I love that they depicted Cleopatra with a short pixie cut! Very modern and fitting for a woman of power!
He was scared of her. He put her down to try to put her "in her place."
He just mad because his plan to seduce her failed
no the reality is that Anne of Cleves was hideous and ugly the painting is overexaggerated and you have fallen for the same trap even Henry the8th fell for

3:10 that’s a pretty good depiction of Cesar Augustus. I have read somewhere that he was quite good looking.
Really good! I liked Napoleon, he looks like the friendly guy at work who always brings you coffee! Well done!
You made an ADORABLE Napoleon. One thing ID like to see is a slight dyed blot in his hair where his cockade would be blue, white, red
The Chopin was kind of funny because there are photographs of Chopin, so we know exactly what he looked like. The computer model was a good guess, and an interesting study of its accuracy.
AI made him look younger and prettier.
There is only one photograph of Chopin, and that is the one shown which is the dauggerotype taken shortly before his death. His face is all distorted from his illness and he looks much older than he actually was (39). Portraits of him when he was younger show that he was a nice-looking man, and I wish they would have used one of those. That said, the AI depiction was not too bad.
@@arieltales8952 Chopin was actually rather handsome when healthy. ;)
The AI image still isn't terribly accurate, most of all the aquiline nose is missing.
These are breath taking. Enjoyed it so much. Thank you for sharing.
Akhenaten was considered as a handsome man, you prove it through your eyes👍Thx a lot .That's a really beautiful work you give us. +1 for "Inception"s music. Take care.
It kinda makes me sad to know that all these people are dead and we never know how they would look nowadays. But I love the fact that there are still lookalikes and that you used them as how they look like nowadays.
The Mona Lisa lookalike seems familliar but I don't know from what😀
Invent time machine 😂😂😂😂
Nefertiti looked beautiful as a modern woman! Napoleon actually looked friendly and approachable. And Jesus looked like I always assumed He would - Middle-Eastern with a very gentle face (not like a blond surfer dude who's a bit stern!) And Vivaldi, Chopin and Mozart - only three of a list of my favorite classical composers, were so good looking. Mozart looked the type of cheerful guy you'd be glad to have as a neighbor. I'll bet with today's modern antibiotics, if Chopin lived today he would not be so sad and he would have lived a long time. (Could you imagine what even more ethereal music he would have composed had he lived to a ripe old age?)
Not enough time to say how impressed I am with all the modern makeovers!
Mozart looked like Elijah Woods! And I loved how Vivaldi was truly a red head AKA the Red Priest.
Sorry for your hopes but Jesus looks like the saints of catholic curch describes Him.
Since he is not only an historical figure, or maybe some colud say even not a real one, we can assume his looks only by the testimony of the greatest saints that actually saw him in person. And he doesn't looks like it at all. Have a look at the painting of the "Divine mercy". Saint Faustina Kowalska was asked directly by Jesus to have a paint of Him, this is how Jesus looks like.
I agree with the Jesus version considering he was middle eastern and not European.
Her cheekbones are gorgeous!
Jesus is Jewish so yeah not surprised he isn't a blonde hair blue eyed dutch dude
I believe the picture of Vincent Van Gogh is absolutely right 👌
anne of cleves and antonio vivaldi were my favorites, but that might be due to the fact that their original portraits are stunning
Shakespeare looks like he's about to go bowling.
Change the hair colour and you have Paul Giamatti.
He looks like Paul Giamatti
Always wondered what historical figures look like if they were around now. Wow
I like the videos where you bring the antique photos to life. These have significant differences from the artists' renderings. The features on AI versions are markedly stronger and some of the planes of the faces really aren't right.
It's amazing to see how these long time ago images turn into real people who have feelings, dreams as we have
IF you really want to know what Nefertiti looked like, Look at the model Iman! Mainly in the 90's! She is the spitting image, if not reincarnated person of her! These are all Amazing!
I have thought so too
She’s the one that was married to David Bowie? If so she is stunning.
Maybe they both share the same tribe of people from Africa.
I don’t think so. Completely different bone structure and ethnicity. Cleo was a Ptolemy from Greece.
Nefertiti is believed to have been a Mittani princess from northern Syria. Her name means the beautiful one has come, inferring she was not Egyptian by birth but has married into Egyptian royalty. We can see by her busts that she was caucasoid. Ancient dynastic Egypt was built by tribe(s) from the Fertile Crescent of the Middle & Near East, so the connection to an area in what is now modern day Syria would make sense.
I think the reason some of the AI pictures looked "perfect" was because the AI trained on images of celebrities
There was a really primitive form of face compositing that was tried by overlaying photographs back in the Victorian era. They took a huge population of prison photographs and tried to create the face of the average criminal. As it turns out when you average faces together they turn out just sort of generally symmetrical and normal and kind of handsome. This has been born out in other sorts of projects that try to create average faces by combining together a lot of real faces from a particular city or country, some of the weird quirks and blemishes and asymmetries that make real people look less attractive disappear in the averages. So it's not just a biased data set, the very act of compositing tends to make faces look more attractive, and it says a lot about how we perceive beauty.
Okay, I just crushed hard on Saladin. :D... It's kinda cool when you can take an old portrait and bring it to life with a Modern Touch.
I love those old names, something so powerful about them!

Great work. I was expecting Nefertiti to start singing “Smooth operator”
Also love how you depicted Van Gogh’s troubled countenance.

Napoleon looks like that friendly guy who helps everyone and has a big heart but is very unlucky in life and has many financial problems with less self confidence. 😅
Like the opposite of real Napoleon. He was a genius, tactician and ambitious politician.
These are interesting to say the least. Most of them are pretty crazy to look at. I will have to say, however, in my opinion that he got Mona Lisa somewhat wrong. Her nose seems incorrect and that completely changed the look of her face compared to her portrait. He absolutely nailed Napoleon Bonaparte though.
Another winner, Mystery Scoop! 💖You never disappoint 👏👏👏🥀

Nefertiti was Egyptian, not sub-Saharan African. To depict her looking like some 21st century woman from Atlanta is ridiculous! She had middle shade brown skin, NOT black skin. All this does is fuel the fictitious Afrocentrists.
Saladin 3:30-3:52 is a STUD! A few were pretty good, but some had irises that were just too large and made the person bug-eyed.
These recreations are amazing 😉
Cool, but a few problems:
1. Based on the bust, Alexander’s hair is a bit too curly
2. Nefertiti was not sub-Saharan African
3. Botticelli’s chin and jaw are way too big.
4. Anne of Cleves’s mouth…
