- There is 4 things to check, before you spend a cent on repairs. they're easy, simple checks and could save you hundreds of dollars,
let me show you how to save over $400 with this one simple dishwasher repair.
On a 5 yr old Samsung DW60H6050FS Dishwasher the 'E4' error code showed on the control panel and its stopped filling with water, stopped washing dishes, and I was stuck washing them by hand.
So it's time to get it fixed, I got one quote from a local appliance technician and it was nearly the same cost as replacing the whole unit
$457 repair or $599 replacement ...no thanks!
Let's nut this out and do this repair together.
First we'll check and 'rule-out' a few common causes of an E4 fault. If those checks don't work we are going to have to replace the water inlet valve. here is a link below to a replacement part;

This saved me a fortune. Thanks. Most engineers wouldn't touch my dishwasher because it was Samsung and the "Samsung specialist" stated it was too old to get new parts and it would be £80 just to look at it with all work charged on top of that. So I got the exact part you showed for £15.99 here in the UK and it took me an hour to fit... dishwasher is now working just fine. Note - my dishwasher had a LOT less space to work with (components were VERY tightly crammed in compared to the video version) which made it much more awkward, but was still possible. For example, I had to remove the waste hose from the internal fitting in order to have any access to swap out the pump's power clip. But it was still well worth the savings. Appreciated.
Wow Kevin, I'm so glad that you told that story... I thought I might be the only one having this problem and crazy enough to fix it... That's great you found the part for a good price - and replaced it yourself, well done. Thanks mate, Kent
Your video just pointed me in the right direction to get my 6 month old Samsung dishwasher working again after being stood in the garage for the last 3 years. No water coming through so after watching your video, I tapped the inlet valve with a hammer and hey presto, now working like new again.
Haha, that’s a win JP! However I did this once - it proved to be a temporising measure🙄 I hope you have better luck, Kent
Thanks for helping me fix my dishwasher. It turns out they work exactly the same on the other side of the Earth. I watched some other videos and while they were quite informative and encouraged me to take my dishwasher apart and check some things here and there, yours was the one that pointed the actual problem my dishwasher had.
Hey Szymon, that’s awesome! And thanks for letting me know that it helped👍well done. Kent
Cheers mate a simple tilt to drain fixed my e4. My wife now thinks I'm a technical genius 👌
Haha well done Chris, claim the victory mate👌Kent
Thx mate. We appreciate all your informative videos from the other side of the ditch.
Great to see you are still with us Beazle.. Thanks mate
Mate you’re a life saver. Fortunately all I had to do with mine was pull it out and tilt 45 degrees to reset the float and it’s working brand new again. Cheers 👍👍
How good is an easy fix BBQ Boy? Love it👌 cheers, Kent
Thank you so much. This worked like a charm. Appreciate the hard work in putting this together.
You are most welcome Amir. Im glad it helped and cheers for the nice comment 🤙 Kent
Thanks for this mate. Reckon it saved me a fortune too. Everything was as you mentioned on the video, except for the connector which was different. I had to remove the connector on the new hose and connect the old one up. Dishwasher works fine now :)
Cheers for letting us know it worked well Kevan 🤙 well done mate. Kent
Awesome…you helped me. Gave me confidence to troubleshoot.
Hey Lisa, thanks for letting me know that it gave you some confidence.. I love it! Kent
Great video, worked a treat on my Samsung changing the value, thank you!!!
Well done Russ🤙 that’s a win! Kent
Cheers mate, Inlet valve was shot. I ordered the Samsung part @ $110 got it in 2 days. All up and running.
That’s awesome John, we’ll done mate👌 Kent
Hey mate. Thank you very much! Replacing the hose has worked! 🥳
Awesome Diego👏we’ll done mate. It’s easy enough isn’t it?
Kent
Thank you a lot!!! I fixed mine by emptying the drip tray. In my case the most difficult part was to extract the machine :S
Ahh I’m glad this helped you out Damian, and cheers for letting me know that it worked 🤙 Kent
Your pup knew the answer and you just wouldn't listen. 🐶😉
Haha, you're probably right thestargzr, I've never been a good listener. Kent
You are a genius, many thanks.
Oh you are very kind Henry, thanks mate👍 Kent
Thx for the info, #4 solved it for me.
Hey Barna that’s awesome! Thanks for watching, giving it a go and fixing it yourself, and letting me know👍 good stuff, Kent
I just did step No.4. Now my dishwasher works. Thanks for your help
New subscriber too👍🏾
Good stuff Adrian, great to have you on board mate🤙Kent
Awesome thanks for the video, managed to fix it myself. Getting more difficult to find the part by the looks, $136nzd including delivery
Hey zealman79, It’s a lot cheaper if you use these links below for Amazon; amzn.to/3cjAaCX and eBay ebay.us/9WabDb
Cheers, Kent
absolute legend! cheers!
Thanks mate, very kind 😉Kent
You saved me too! Thx a ton
Glad to hear that! Kent
Hi! We've got a brand new Samsung Dishwasher, literally used it a maximum of three times and we have error code 4C (same as 4E) and have checked the basics in your video. I'm shocked the inlet valve can stop working after such a short time :( just before Christmas as well! Probably won't buy another Samsung product again.
Hey Natalie, oh that sucks.. bad timing too! it would still be under warranty right?
Tilting helped !
Perfect, easy job all fixed at home for free👍👍Kent
Thank you
Welcome Ash👍
Question please...NFM installed a new Samsung. The waste hose is about 1" thick and goes from left side of dishwasher to hole in sink cabinet on right. So the dishwasher doesn't fit and rubber moldings look horrible...not to mention the silver clip sticks out where it's screwed into the cabinet. I guess my question is...can the waste hose be adjusted?
Hey D Schmul, Im not completely sure how to get around the dishwasher 'not fitting' thing, is the space too small - or hoses/fitting getting in the way of it being seated back far enough? Yes, you can easily purchase and fit a longer dishwasher hose if required (not expensive and i've done that too), Universal Dishwasher extension hose; amzn.to/3deLsbT
Feel free to elaborate and i'll do my best to answer your question, thanks mate, Kent
😃👍🌷good job thank you
ooh, a flower for me, thank you. Kent
Kent - Is there a way to RESET the water inlet valve 'autostop' ? If it get's wet inside the housing can ot be simply dried out?
Hey Stephen, that’s not something I’m aware of, but there’s lots in life I don’t know 😂. Sorry mate, if you find a solution to that one let us know. Good luck, Kent
2:12 dogs being a pain in the ass 😂
I believe I have the same problem with my Siemens and looks pretty the same, I already bought the inlet hose from amazon a couple of days ago and watching your video I have the feeling that my procedure will be similar.
How did you get on Jorge?
@@InspireDIY It worked perfectly well
I had to unscrew a screw in the front part in the left side at the bottom. Then I could open the whole plate that is on the left side, then I had to take out the pipe with the cable for the sensor, and there is a cap that I had to take out and put it on the new pipe.
Then the procedure was to put the pipe inside the dish washer and with a plier to hold it again on the same place. Now there is no water licking.
What I do not understand is why the pipe was licking water, I believe somehow I pushed it in the past and maybe I harmed it, but who knows, maybe is the time because the washing machine is about 7 years old.
Thanks for the video. Tilting it does the trick but i have to do it again and again once a week. it`s been going on for two months. how do i stop it?
Hey mate, it sounds like you have a slow leak somewhere 🤷♂️ might take a bit more investigation to track it down, try looking for water stains around junctions and pipes etc, water always leaves clues. Best of luck. Kent
I have an E4 error code, when I tilted the machine to get the water out of the drip tray it worked again for about a week and then error code came back on.
What do I need to do to fix this issue?
Thanks.
Hi Kent, our Siemens dishwasher stops and shows E04 near the end of the washing cycle in any program, except rinsing. I would say right before it would start drying. Before water enters the machine just fine. Do you still reckon it's likely the inlet valve?
Also days before we had E15 which went away after I drained the liquid that had accumulated in the bottom of the dishwasher and that had made the little styrofoam disc float.
So far I have read about a faulty water flow sensor, but that doesn't make sense to me since the machine goes nearly through the entire cleaning cycle except drying.
Thanks
Hey Christian, I'm guessing you have read this; washingcodes.com/siemens-dishwasher-error-code-e04/ sorry if it's repeat info for you though there is a few things to test out yourself before calling a tech. best of luck mate, let us all know how you get on - it will help someone else out too. Kent
Hi Kent! Thanks for your video. I Have a Kogan dishwasher and the sign ´glass` is flashing even if I turn off the machine. I tried almost everything. My landlord told me he cut the water off to make a repair inside the house while the dishwasher was running. After that my dishwasher didn't work. Can you help me, please?
Hey Tais, if you reset the machine by turning power off at the power outlet (then try to power at the machine on so capacitors discharge) wait 30secs then turn back on at outlet and machine what error shows?
@@InspireDIY Hey Kent! I was super busy and I turned off the machine and forgot about it! Today I turned on and everything going well!!!! Thanks for your kindness and patience
On the videos I see, the animals are trying to help.
haha, yeah thats Ziggy. neither of us have a clue but we hang out anyways.
@@InspireDIY animals always want to help or inspect.
And I learnt something from you. It was the second time I encountered the issue and I tried to trouble shoot it myself so I wouldn't have to call the maintenance guy. But based on his last fix taking 5 minutes, I think the issue is with the water pressure in my apartment building since the past few weeks it's been acting up and they haven't addressed the issue as best they could for a high-rise.
That’s a shame Analeza, if it’s the water pressure that’s a shame, there’s not much you can do about it except tolerate the fault occurring now and then until the issue gets fixed. Best of luck mate 👍Kent
Hey! I just moved into my house and it has this exact dishwasher. Everything was fine for the first 3 weeks and then it suddenly won't get hot during its cycle. No error message. Everything is working fine. It's just cold so it's not doing a great job cleaning the dishes. Got any useful tips?
Hey KKFox, Yeah, most modern dishwashers heat up the water themselves rather than rely on a hot water supply, so unfortunately it looks like your element or heating circuit/fuses are the cause. I have not repaired this type of fault before so sorry, I have no tips for you. Best of luck, let us know how you get on. Regards, Kent
@@InspireDIY Thanks! Will do.
Worked for my dishwasher as well, but a couple days later happened again. Is there an issue with the machine to keep happening?
Hey Morgan, if it’s a 4E error code, I’ve noticed this can intermittently fault as the inlet mech is failing.. I think you may be up for a replacement inlet hose. Let us know how you get on. Kent
@@InspireDIY thanks mate
When i change the inlet valave. Will the code automatically reset?
Yes it will mate 👍 Kent
What if I'm getting 4c about halfway thru the cycle But plenty of water is coming in?
Hey Austin, 4C = 'The dishwasher is not getting water at the pressure or temperature that it needs', check that there is no air in the line by running a kitchen tap until constant flow achieved before attempting a cycle. Best of luck mate. Kent
Not sure if anyone can help me zero in ony particular issue. I get the 4e code, changed the floodsafe hose to a regular. Changed the inlet valve twice. Here's the kicker. If I try to run a cycle like 10 times it will eventually work. Anyone know enough to believe it's a control board issue. My second inlet valve was from Samsung Parts. Thanks for any advice. Cheers.
It’s over my head TC C, good luck - I hope you find a solution. It must be testing you patience by now👍Kent
Auhh I've tried everything except changing inlet hose. But its getting water, and draing but when cycle finishes E4 comes up. I pull it out, tilt it, some water comes out and its good for another wash or even a few before E4 again. Arghhhhhhhh
Hey Dodgy, sounds like a leak detector keeps firing huh!
My Samsung STORM dishwasher's inlet valve has needed replacement already, and now it's not working again. I have had it only 1.5 years.. Piece of garbage. Don't get a Samsung Dishwasher!
Oh dear mate, sounds like a lemon 🫤 best of luck, Kent
If you add German or Turkish subtitles to your video, you will make me really happy. Greetings from Germany, Regards
Hey BeRLiN, your English is far better than my German or Turkish will ever be! I might need help from Google for that one 😉Kent
Thank you
You’re welcome mate👍 Kent
