That's not the normal aard. Is mutated to froze your enemies and it even has a 25% chance if i remember right of blowing off your enemies after they freeze. I did it so i can confirm it 100%. The queen one looks amazing with that sphere all around you.
My first play through, I used piercing cold. Carried it over NG+. It is good, up to a certain point but pretty much useless in NG+. And I am playing Death March difficulty.

No...if you played blood and wine yennefer sends u that letter to look for a laboratory. That place was used by a man trying to change his witcher son to normal and get rid of his mutations but everything he tried it actually maked him stronger. Anyway after finishing all that Geralt will use that thing to make his mutations even stronger. After that if u go to ur character build a new branch of abilities unlocks with those mutations but u will need more mutagen and around 3 or more skill points to unlock each one of them and you can activate and use one at the time.
Every magic ability was nerf... yrden max 42% slow effect, less damages, quen work nice, aard make less damages ... griffin armor is no more that usefull...
What I hate about witcher 3 is 1)alcohest is enough to replenish your used bombs and potions you don't need to collect more ingredients 2)you have to choose which skill to use

Max quen was op, reflect dmg and shield explosion afterwards into near instant quen refresh. You become a lethal bubble boy.

Nah. With euphoria sign builds you can melt anything. Also yrden+aard is amazing, enemies stick to the magick trap.
