I really appreciated this video... I lost my wife to cancer in October after she battled for almost 4 years, she was 45. I had quit playing a few years previous to her diagnosis as my Dad was dying from Prostate cancer. She wanted me to get back to playing, and I started up again in December. Cheers for listening and keep up the great work.
Hey Mark that Randy Rhodes black splatter Jackson looks sick! The diamond plate really adds the finishing touch to it, you’re doing some amazing work, I think you’re going to make the Jackson custom shop jealous 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🎶🎸🎸🎸
Hey Mark that guitar was absolutely beautiful, and it's a wonderful tribute for a loved one my grandmother passed away from cancer back in 2008 so this episode kind of hit home for me my grandmother raised me ever since I was born and there's not a day that goes by where I don't miss her, so I thought this was really cool episode please don't stop doing what you do you make a lot of people happy I’m sure James is very happy with the end result of his guitar, and to me, you have the best job in the world cheers' brother stay safe stay awesome and rock on. \m/
My Grandma passed away from cancer in 2018 and I've been planning a tribute guitar build for her and the F Cancer sticker is definitely something I'm going to add
This is an amazing guitar tribute . Great work again Mark . I love the design on this Jackson. The black splatter paint job on the flat black paint is sick . With one volume knob and a boost eq and a Killswitch switch is freaking sweet !
I grew up w Thrash n Heavymetal Metal in 80's and 90's in Florida so when the Death Metal came around me and my friends naturally gravitated towards the scene.
You're doing a really awesome job of making custom guitars man wow about time that somebody make some killer sick guitars I really enjoy your content and your videos are awesome I'm scrolling through all of the videos you have been doing and I like everything you guys do it's awesome
Wow. That is the coolest black on black splatter method. The graphic is amazing. It looks like it was engraved. Love the subtlety of it. Sounds great too. Awesome job Mark!
AWESOME Video!!! Thank you Mark. My deepest condolences to anyone who has suffered a loss due to cancer. I went through a period in 2010 when all the important women in my life had 1 form of cancel or another. I was very fortunate to not lose my mother or my wife. I made a guitar for my wife soon after as she was interested in learning to play. i gave her the Dark Red Stain finish she wanted of course. She gave it back to me a year later and i painted the Godzilla with Japanese Sun on it. You guys have seen it the old Morning Shred channel. She Loves Godzilla movies like most guys like Deadpool. Keep Rockin' My Friend! Excellent Work!
I would never think of doing that to it I've had mine for over 25 years the guitar is already a tribute and plays flawlessly..but since its brand new I can see putting the emgs in it and you did a great job 😈🤙
The Black Splatter came out Sick!!! I am inspired. Between the Brutal Stealth RR5, and the new Pink and Black Splatter Solar guitars, this is definitely my next paint job. Was thinking about trying the crackle paint, but all the videos prove it takes a lot of trial and error, and this Black Splatter looks Killer. Can't wait for my next project.
Looks sick! I have an RRXT, and I've been thinking of doing something similar to mine (fill in the neck pickup cavity, change the pickguard to a rusty-gold esque type look with only a single hole for the volume control where the master tone control is located in the bottom corner). Well done!
This is a great video and Channel. Also props for the angle grinder procedure. For anyone trying this at home, make sure you have the guard on as he does, and stand out of the way of the disk incase anything happens. A face shield always helps too. But that was good form. This is coming from a welder too
this is an rrt5 made in indonesia , the rr5 original was a japanese made guitar between 2001- 2011. the new rrt5 mj series was made in a different factory and released in 2021
I love the idea all id prefer personally is get rid off the large splatter above bridge and a thinner matt finish on the metal plate but really like the style.
Hello friend, excellent work! Well, I'll tell you that I'm starting out in lutheria and my first project is an old Jackson JS40 bass that was thrown away at home for a long time. I want to give it a "black metal" touch just like the guitar you modified, my question is how did you get that brand decal or how can it be printed? Thank you very much and keep going...
Felipe, Mark has a machine to make them. typically you can find any kind of head stock decal on Ebay or Etsy. Just some thoughts for you: You might get a vinyl Jackson head stock decal and use the decal as a stencil - no different than painting EVH strips. Apply the color for the logo, put down the decal, paint the next color. Use Krylon paint cans. They help with the definition when you are ready to peel the decal off, lightly wet sand the area with 600 grit - slowly so you don't take off too much, then apply the clear coat. Apply first coat, wait 10 minutes and then go over it again. It will dry hard as glass quickly and the next day you can shine it. Then in 1 week (time to cure), your tuners won't sink into the paint when you put them on. Krylon is Lacquer. However, if doing Black on Black, then definitely use Mark's method, not mine. Otherwise, you won't be able to control when it shiny and what is not if using my suggestions. Good luck on the project.
❤ it, would look even cooler w the raised Jackson logo that’s like black chrome off the Jeff Loomis signature Kelly model IMO. I’m sure Gina would approve of her name w wings added despite her lack of interest in your taste in music/noise. Killswitches will always be cool no matter what anyone else thinks! Best wishes all!
I have the black RR5 with gold hardware. Mine is a 2009, and it looks every bit of 13 years old. The gold is fading, the long point has been fixed 3 times because Ive ran into things and taken small chunks out of it, It's missing a knob, and I fucking love every bit of it lol. Really considering doing a complete rebuild like this on it, though!
I love your work but would love for you to extende beyond the metal genre, and for you to do more classic looking finishes aswell like fenders i bet you would also kill it at that.
I filled the middle single coil on my Ibanez RG. I actually did the really bad thing and just filled the whole cavity with wood filler. I must’ve sanded and then filled again at least like 6 times. Of course it kept dipping and after I thought I got it good and level I can clearly see where the single coil was in the finish. It’s a bummer but I’ve learned from that dumb mistake. Sad thing is it’s my favorite guitar and it was my first time ever refinishing a guitar. All of that is fixable, the biggest mess up was me doing rolled edges on the fretboard………before installing the frets. Now the frets aren’t level at the edges of the fretboard. I tried to play it at a show once but the high E string just constantly gets stuck under the fret. So she’s only for bedroom guitar playing now.
Mark I got an esp v type guitar kit and I accidentally fucked up my paint cause it started crackling and I actually like how it came out so im going with it
I really enjoy your videos, and I wish to have one of your guitars, but I wonder, is all this painting affecting the sound. I have very old guitars whom are painted with just a bit of transparent ... I noticed how the sound changed in one of them...
Honestly, its just like having the volume on High. Seems to work well with active pickups - EMGs and Mustaine live wires. Also, had a friend that wired his Sh-12 Lynch pickup right to the output jack and no switches, because he was using a volume pedal. Sounded good. Made the signal strength of the pickup better too.
I just got a road worn 1990 RR5, it originally had a gold pickguard and hard ware, I am looking at restoring it, any idea where I can get hardware for it?
Man I had an RR5 in the mid 2000s.the nicest guitar I've ever had white black pinstripes along with a Epi les Paul custom antique ivery color. 2 guitars just like my favorite shredder the late RANDY RHOADS. had to get rid of them when I got divorced man I really really miss them guitars the wife not so much
looks killer, and all for a good cause, you're the absolute man! just one question, how does the indo jacksons compare to the mij ones? ive heard some routs are a bit sloppy (under the pickguard, truss rod access) have you experienced any of that? obviously not on this guitar it looks incredible!
Hi Mark, Did you add additional clearcoat over the spatter or was that left as is? It turned out great and is a fitting tribute to your client's late wife - I hope he cherishes it.
Awesome work on that V! I noticed though that you didn't copper-shield-tape the metal electronics plate (not that you need to due to EMG humbuckers), but would that make a difference?
What kind of paint products are you using? Did you just spray the diamond plate parts directly? You need to use etch primer or something or the paints just going to come off pretty quickly
killer guitar wow, Man i want one of your custom guitars sooooo bad, Do you work with Canadians lol. i have a kramer barreta special and 2 olp mm1 guitars. Its my dream yo have you do your magic with them and make them something truly special
Nice results :). I've got Japan RR5 in invory and love how it sounds. SH-4 plays well but thanks to your test I hear EMG don't kill character of this guitar. Alder body is always in front of mix (if you know what I mean), 81 works here like steroids. Maybe I should put 81/85 set to my RR5.
Really good job!Looks awesome! I like the Death Metal look and the other stuff you do!Keep up this work! Fuck Cancer!!Love Peace and Heavy Metal!!!Best wishes and greetings from Bavaria/Germany!

hell yeah man keep the spirit high my friend.
Didn't ask
Never surrender my friend. Now you have tons of inspiration to create the most incredible songs and riffs. We will be waiting for it.
Very sorry to hear about your loss
Killer guitar
The black and gold was absolutely stunning! The matte/gloss black took it up a few steps! Beautiful work sir! RIP Gina. James my heart breaks for you.
This is the best "Trash to Thrash" episode! Awesome Jackson, awesome mods and I love single humbucker guitars!
The guitar looks and sounds awesome but I would have preferred without splatter…just my opinion. Excellent work.
@Daylight Spook Wow you actually play metal on an acoustic that's cool. And did you get that Kelly if so then how much did you pay for it?
Honoring a dead wife, with a memorial guitar built to play the music she hated? BRUTAL!
Randy Rhoads...

You're doing a really awesome job of making custom guitars man wow about time that somebody make some killer sick guitars I really enjoy your content and your videos are awesome I'm scrolling through all of the videos you have been doing and I like everything you guys do it's awesome
The glossy splatter really fits with the matte black finish. The red glow from the killswitch is just the cherry on top!
Wow. That is the coolest black on black splatter method.
The graphic is amazing. It looks like it was engraved. Love the subtlety of it.
Sounds great too. Awesome job Mark!
Amazing job as always !! Inspiration
That is one badass guitar. I love the way it looks and sounds, and that has to be one of the most metal guitars I've ever seen.
WOW....you kicked that thing up notches...looks and sounds bad ass!!!
Absolutely amazing job Mark….very nice!! One of my favorites so far!!
I want see you customize one of those cheap Glarry burning Fire guitars👍👍🍻.
Keep growing your beard, looks cool man...someone has been listening to Mr.Bungle lately.lol
God bless anyone who is or has or has had a loved ones battling serious illness.
cheers, my friend.

killer riffffffffffage in there too... Great vid!!!!
This is like what I want to do with my cort vxv2. With the matte black and the one bridge pickup. Good stuff
diamondplate looked killer. love the content, keep it up man
I have a 2003 RR5 made in Japan and I love it! Love this episode
The Black Splatter came out Sick!!! I am inspired. Between the Brutal Stealth RR5, and the new Pink and Black Splatter Solar guitars, this is definitely my next paint job. Brutal design, gives me inspiration for my 1997 rx10d
I have a black and gold neck through RR5 from the far future of the year 2000. It's an MIJ and it absolutely slays the high gain.
Nice looking finished product. The kill button along with the on/off switch seems redundant though.
Looks sick! I have an RRXT, and I've been thinking of doing something similar to mine (fill in the neck pickup cavity, change the pickguard to a rusty-gold esque type look with only a single hole for the volume control where the master tone control is located in the bottom corner).

That came out beautiful! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘🤘

I have always thought those so-called "metal" flat black finishes were a hideous abomination. And, I am a metal player!
Sick channel man. Just found it today and subscribed.
This channel is so underrated
Oh my god, stealth splatter jackson!
20:01 You didn't notice but the E string was out of the saddle all this time.. even when you play it lol
Ahhhh dude. I love it. If the shark fin inlays were blacked out as well it’s still a fuckin beast I’d be proud to own
I love the idea all id prefer personally is get rid off the large splatter above bridge and a thinner matt finish on the metal plate but really like the style.
"Bandsaw's can be realy dangerous".... Jimmy Diresta; "huh?"
Damn you did a really great job on this one
i filled a neck pu cavity with JB Weld "Kwik Wood" about a year ago, and still havent finished the guitar, and havent noticed any dipping at all.

damn that paint job looks awsome
Wow that is brutal!!! Makes me want to do something to my RR V!!!
The preamp boost is a killer idea!!!
guitar looks fantastic, if eel like white decals would have accentuated the fretboard though!
I think that this is my favorite guitar that you've done, it would be my ideal guitar
That guitar is totally Sic. Every time I see that black on black splatter I love it more.
as much as i love this channel WHYYYYY lol
Badass guitar man!
Hey man. You should consider sharing your single chain for these playing tests. The tone in this video was brutal, man!
great job love it!!

Nice guitar and good sound
Amazing👊👍👍👍
Maybe you’ve already covered it, but I would love intonation video, even if it’s a Patreon exclusive
