Always buy extra cans lol. I like the look of the flat/satin black. When these turbo cans first came out they didn’t have flat black, only gloss black.
Cool rc job. Everyone be careful while traveling watch out for thieves. Fellow Tuber had his entire truck, enclosed trailer and custom studabaker car stolen from a motel.
You need to get one of those spray can shakers that goes onto a sawzall. My local Home Depot stopped selling turbo cans . They told me that they did not sell good enough.
Man as nice as that p.up is I'd spring for a Urethane DIY paint job for the $$$ you can't beat it, have several my self still looks great after 10+ years ! 😁👍
Good job ,I've used a 3 inch roller an rustolium ,no over spray or shading after a few weeks in the sun it becomes smooth as glass Edit we use Tremclad in Canada same as rustolieum
Been thinking about using a roller on some projects, how did that end up blending in ? What roller did you use ? Thanks from Pa. near Maple Grove Raceway.
That turbo can, I wasn't sure if KITT was gonna pop out and help you. Looks like the paint job went kinda fast. Enjoy your show and I can''t wait to experience it with you later. Thanks Josh. Hope you were speedng safely.
My buddy and I just turbo canned the roof of his 65 Lemans. It originally had a white vinyl top that had basically discenigrated in the Arizona heat and he wanted to keep the top white so we just sanded it down and painted it on the cheap and the Flat White goes really good with the patina paint job on the car.
I have a Factory Five Cobra that I want to paint in flat black and drive for a year or so before the "real" paint job. This looks like the perfect match, thanks for the video.
Painted my grandsons rims flat black with the turbo cans over a year ago. Prep real good and it will last as long as you need it to. Did 3 coats. Very good coverage. Very even application.
Mean old truck indeed. Must be a task just driving it. Has it been in the family for generations? Wouldn't be able to find another like it! Have a great time in Cleveland. Looking forward to seeing a video from there
It drives easy. My dad helped me build it when I was in high school. It has a Camaro subframe. It has power steering, power brakes, tilt column, and an automatic transmission. My uncle originally bought it in 1969. My dad messed with it in the 1970s, it was stored until 1993 when I started to work on it.
What faded blue? This is the same flat black the truck was painted with before. I want it flat, not shiny. No idea what Disney has to do with any of this?
Pro tip; Always buy double the product you believe g you’ll need n return what you didn’t use……also Rustoleum makes a matte clear that you could have applied over the flat black…that would have protected it from the sun/ rain
Nice job on your truck as Im thinking of doing my 55 Chevy in gloss black with Turbo cans. I will spray the trunk 1st with alot of wetsanding in between just to see if possibly to do a decent job or not.I use to paint cars years back. Ive seen pretty good results on RUclips. Also whats that song track at 15:14 Im a guitar player and I picked its out very tasty????...
Gloss would probably look okay if you wet sand it out between coats. As far the music it's just stock music from the RUclips library. There are people that create for YT.
If you're running just air tool a 5 hp, 80 gal Ingersol Rand or Quincy would be good. If you want to run a sand blaster for extended time(how big?), you'll probably need a 7.5hp, 2 stage 80 gal compressor that can deliver a lot of cfm.
@@QuickSpeedShop A dull no-shine paint job looks awful... for a few extra bucks you could have made it look half decent. You also could have bought 4 paint cans and returned any that you didn't need.
I didn't know I needed 4 or I would have bought 4. Why would I return them? They're $15 a piece. My time is worth more than $30, I'm not driving back to the store to return two cans of paint.
That's because I was just showing the paint can and talking. When I actually started painting at like 8:10, I even said" Let me put my respirator on" and then proceeded to paint the entire truck with a respirator. You can't hear me talking with a respirator on so that's why when I tried the can out on the hood I didn't have one on.
Use gloss black . Then the sun will fade it to flat. The flat looks really really bad in a short.time. it doesnt stay matte. it goes realy horrible flat.looking
Low mentality , I can afford anything and I don't have no citizenship ,and I'm definitely don't care who's in the office, this is a land of opportunity and dreams ,all you have to do it's work hard like a real man should do, and you can get anything , only weak and low mentality people complain about about the system, this is the land of freedom ,you can paint your cars however you want 😂😂😂.
Because those paints are oil based and are not compatible for automotive paint later. The Turbo-cans are aerosol based with solvents. The whole point of the whole video was to do a demonstration with Turbo-cans.
Never ever paint with rustoleum you will be sorry if you do you will be stripping all of the paint off before you can paint it with automotive paint if you don’t the will fisheye real bad so don’t do it I found out the hard way.
These turbo cans are perfect for the budget builder. Good job on this truck!
Good job sir. Love the truck.
Thanks 👍
Fantastic job! The fresh paint really spruces up the truck!
Thanks! I immediately ruined it with a 500 mile trip in bad weather and blow by oil from the worn out engine. 😂
Wishing you great travels!
500 mile round trip. Made it back no problem.
A less than perfect finish actually suits the old truck.
That truck deserves a good paint job
Eventually when the body work is finished
@@QuickSpeedShop .. ya looks good for now

Waiting for semi gloss black.
Rostolium paint is awesome

That sucks! Luckily, my truck was inside the expo hall the entire time it was at the show.
@@QuickSpeedShop It happened Sunday night. Sleeper dud reposted it , are I wouldn't have known. They stole it from a motel in lower SC area.

This truck doesn't have Super Pursuit Mode, but did make it 500 miles to Cleveland and back thru wind, rain, and heavy traffic!

😮 love the truck, temp of metal crucial when using spray bombs... well any other paint as well 😎 especially spraying from rattle can.

They claim if you put those spray cans into a bucket of hot water right before you spray them, the paint really lays out much better ! 😜
That's a good tip
Looks good for a hack job
I mean it's not a hack job. I taped it up and scuffed it all up. It looks good and has been to several shows and no one called it a hack job.
I would have done clear coat. I liked the faded blue. It looked like a million Disney world or Pixar prop before.
What faded blue? This is the same flat black the truck was painted with before. I want it flat, not shiny. No idea what Disney has to do with any of this?
My husband wants/needs the TURBO paint in Silver. Has e-mailed Rustoleum but no answer.

Can you recommend a good 2 stage air compressor that can keep up with air sanders and sandblasting? Thank you

Where did you find the flat black cans?
Lowe's
Thank you for the info just ordered a few
Looks surprisingly good for a spray can. I'm guessing 1 to 2 minutes total spray time per can?
Yes. They spray out super fast.
mat finish is epoque right . Pretty
👍
How do you like the turbo can paint? Is it holding up good? I ask cus i want to paint my hood on my daily driver.
It's the same as regular Rustoleum Professional just larger can. It fades after a year or 2 in the sun.
@@QuickSpeedShop ok thanks for the info and keep up the good work!!!!
Looks very good! I didn't know the turbo cans came in matte black, is that right? It looked glossier going on. Cool truck!
Yes, flat black. I didn't know that either until I found it at Lowe's. I think the only other colors are gloss black and gloss white.

How many cans did it take
I used 2, but it really needed 3.
Get some Greasy Black Metal Flake from MOONEYES and spray it on with some clear
Truck needs more bodywork before I make it shiny
I painted a tractor with a dead chicken and a bucket of paint one time 😊

No clearcoat? Why?
It's just rattle cans to make the truck one color. It will last several years

I want it flat not satin. This truck has been Rustoleum flat black for 15 years.
Turbo can is a marketing gimmick
Threw a bunch of paint on in a hurry.
Why!!! All that work for spray can? 😢
Truck still needs bodywork before it can be painted nice. This is just to make it presentable for another few years.
Where is Garth?
He's cruising around in the Merth-mobile

More work and less talk. you'd be surprised how much time you have.

Now you're definitely gonna have to strip it to actually paint it
I know, I said that in the video.
Why not just buy a gallon of rust paint and buy a cheap spray gun , most people working on cars have some sort of compressor
Because those paints are oil based and are not compatible for automotive paint later. The Turbo-cans are aerosol based with solvents. The whole point of the whole video was to do a demonstration with Turbo-cans.
Starting to become a red flag everyone i see uses black or dark color! A real color would show what that paint can do
I think Turbo cans only come in black and white
Turbo cans are horrible, ill never buy them again.
This is the first time I used them. They empty fast
There is potential though. They need to keep working with those cans to get them better. I would love to see spray max do a huge fan 2k can like that.
Change the tip it will spray slower and better. They are good for the price@@QuickSpeedShop
You're literally spray painting a car... what do you expect?
Horrible why?
Have a towel wipe nozzle every 20 passes to stop dripson suface

Oil base Rustoleum in quarts and gallons, yes. The Rustoleum Proffesional paint is solvent based, not oil based like brush on paint.
Flat paint jobs are just a short trend. It will go out of style in a year or two.
I have several hot rods that have been in flat black for 20 years so...This truck has been in primer or flat paint since 1999.
turbo cans are watered down cheap paint
Actually they're Rustoleum Professional in large format. No complaints here.
Is that a flat black in turbo can?
Yes
O my gato molí guacamoli w0w 👍🏽✊🏽💦
why paint a beautiful vehicle like that spray cans boring black... a red metallic or black metallic, not gloss black
Because the body work isn't done. It's been flat black for years, just touching it up.
