Dr. Demento!!! Yes! I loved that show as a kid! "Fish Heads", "Dead Puppies". So much ridiculousness. Great to get to hear your background. 57yo here who grew up loving Metal's equally disrespected cousin Prog Rock and similarly to you, learned to love all types of music. Hey man, just a quick note for you... Im a Ren-aholic, and found your channel through his stuff. You seem like a great guy and so far Im loving your content here. Really down to earth and real stuff. New sub, and keep up the great work!
Great reaction again! It’s a uke as it has 4 strings and mandolins typically have 8. Such a fun one and I love hearing Romain singing too! He has so many different voices like Ren and they’re all great! His debut album came out Friday! I haven’t listened to it all yet but his music is beautiful (very very different to Ren and The Big Push) 🖤 Edit : I typed this before the video had finished so you know Romain has a new album out already 🤣
Enjoyed your reaction and hearing a bit of your background! I grew up teen in the 70s listen to the same hard rock and heavy metal - Sabbath, Judas Priest big time! - UFO, Budgie, STARZ… and also I have one for ya.. I like listening to someone who knows what their talking about, I 💯 agree with you about Ren he does have a love for music going back to the 1920s too, you can see that with the " love music songs" love your reactions ❤
Thank you for sharing a bit about your musical background! My favourite reactors all bring their own skills and insights to the table and yours give so much depth to your appreciation of the music. There are some videos on Instagram of a guitar being made for Ren. The bassist grin The Verve had it made for him after watching Ren's rap over the Bittersweet Symphony music. Ren did an interview with Elizabeth from TCV this week and it was lovely. Definitely worth a watch as you like them both. 😊
Losing It is a fun EDM beat by Fisher that Ren does a rap over. He's so cheeky! I love it! I play it most often bc it's a mood lifter. Check it out! 💃🕺
One of my favorite mash-ups from them is 'These Boots Are Made For Walkin'/Satisfaction/Everybody". That's Nancy Sinatra/Rolling Stones/Blues Brothers. Who but these guys would do such a thing? And they sing it in a laundromat.
If you like these harmonies, try Praise You, a Fatboy Slim cover, or The Big Push original Swan Song. Both beautuful. Ive never commented so much as I do on Ren reactions. I started watching reactions during covid Lockdown, looking for new (to me) mysic. Instead i got into young reactors finding my favourite music from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Then Hi Ren hit me like a train. I also have a small collection of classic albums, Beethoven, Elgar , Dvorak, Vivaldi and a few more. To me Ren's open attitude to his influencers makes him as talented as any of them.
Thank you! I do plan on watching Swan Song very soon and I'd love to check out Fat Boy Slim. That's how I got into reaction videos watching an opera singer analyze my favorite groups. Glad that you love the classics, too! I put Ren in with the greats. It's just a matter of time before the whole world sees it too.
Thanks for sharing some of your history with music, it was very interesting. If you like do wop then take a look at the Big Push original songs Why my woman and O my woman - O my woman is the one which is more do wop style but they kind of go together as a pair. The video is a bit raunchy, so be warned! Elizabeth from the Charismatic Voice just released an excellent interview with Ren. I believe this video was filmed by Luke Flegg, not Sam Perry -Falvey. Luke also shot the video for Animal Flow and one or two other of Ren's songs. I read in a comment somewhere that Romain is playing a lute. Not sure. Romain and Ren released a song together called French Song. It's very good. I second the recommendation of Swan Song - beautiful harmonies from the Big Push, and Ren plays the melodically, which is one step closer to the kazoo you keep asking for 😂
Thank you again for sharing and the nice reaction. :) I hope you manage to find time to react to The Greatest Show on Earth by Nightwish (you wont regret it) and even more Ren or The Big Push songs.
So glad you checked this one out Dude. Me being a metal fan and seeing The Big Push in the streets was cool, Seeing Hi Ren, I totally Resonated with due to my injury but that came on after one of his songs, It's not Rock n Roll or Metal and I did say somewhere in the comments, if you checked it there might be a kazoo in there. Just shows the talent these kids have got Man. Across the board. Even seen a Classical guy wipe tears from his eyes with the Hi Ren video and he said it's like an ARIA or a Mini Opera all in one song. Even when he sings with Chinchilla there's just Talent fa days n days 😎👌
This was during the lock down, three of them were flatmates at the time, and this the roof outside the Gorran's bedroom window, so... they must have spent some serious time there while being locked in. There's also a crazy 25min stream they did for Live Nation, from Gorran's room, played 3 originals (2 of which only ever released on that video), and 2 covers. So... if you ever plan on doing a livestream yourself... perhaps...? The video is on The Big Push yt page, titled "The Big Push - Live from home (LiveNation broadcast)". Great to see them just chilling and vibing, and having fun... Even if you don't share it with us, do watch it for yourself, any odd time when you need to smile for 25 min :)
Ren played the drums in the big push originally ( he claims not to be very good) so they poached Glen from another busking band ( he was a bass player) he was the best drummer out of all of them, so he became the drummer (when you see Ren standing on the drum kit, it's because it's Ren's kit) and Romain sometimes plays bass too.
Bongo Bong! 😍 This was my most played song this summer!! 👌🏽 They somehow managed to capture a Mediterranean vibe on top of a roof terrace on a cloudy day in Brighton 😀 Romaine has skillz... Bill you have a lot of catching up to do😄 It was nice to hear some of your musical background... I'm looking forward to some anecdotes in the near future..😊 Please add to your list The Big Push's mash-up of These boots are made for walking/ Satisfaction/ Everybody. Performed in a laundrette. A harmonica is involved. And harmonies 💜
I enjoyed your mini autobiography! It's interesting to know a reactor's roots. It helps me understand their pov better which gives another depth to the reaction This was definitely a vibe! I listened to the original after first hearing this and it's awesome too (altho I prefer The Big Push's version!)... 💗🦇💗
Romaine Axisa does a brilliant rendition of Ray Charles' "Georgia On My Mind" when he was busking in London. Definitely worth a few moments of your time!!!😉😉Also his own composition, "Love Without Feelings(live)" in which he plays piano and is accompanied by cello violin and a local ladies choir, is a beautiful song and you would not regret hearing it I assure you.
thank you Bill love your back story, and always love your reactions to my favourite artist ever am 63 years old and have followed Ren for years this is one of his favourites with the big push ❤❤
Subbed for many reasons but not least of which is the fact that your explanation of your history with music and the broad range of music to which you listen really hit home, especially with respect to hardcore and metal.
This was a wonderful choice for this morning. Loved hearing your background. I agree with ALL of the recommendations. But, want to add Icarus. Goran sings lead and the rest of the guys are painted gold. They have a BTS with them all in character. It's way funny. Also, the live performance is another rooftop one. I say it all the time. Whenever these young men play together, it's like a celebration of music. Congratulations on your sub numbers. I love to watch them climb. Once again, thank you for a wonderful start to my day.
Awe, Thank you very kindly ❤️That is actually one I did see, before I started my channel my wife showed me "Hi Ren" and " The Tales" I was soooo sooo sooo blown away !!!! I cried on Hi Ren and the Tales just blew my brain out of my skull lmao ... I was hooked big time ... then restrained to not listen to him because of reacting live to the rest of his masterpieces !!! It was and IS torture 🤪🤪🤪 I want to hear every thing NOW! Much love to ya ❤️
Love your reactions, great knowledge, even better vibe. Came for the fresh take on Ren, but I’m here for the others now, really on my wavelength. Keep it up!👍👏🏻🎉❤
You might want to do Swan Song, Ren plays a melodica, not quite a Kazoo thankfully. The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band do use a Kazoo if that's your jam. Swan Song is a go to for 3-part harmony singing and a thing of beauty, one of Gorran's songs I believe, so a bit folky.
Such a great way to start my Sunday morning! It was really cool to learn more about your varied musical roots. I can relate to hanging with the band as a kid as my dad was a professional musician. His mame was Darryl Kutz and, like Ren, he was a musicians’ musician! I miss him every day and think he would have loved Ren. 😊 I am a musical connoisseur and this song by Manu Chao is so fun! I’ve seen this Big Push cover many times and was just tuning into how Ren shows off his impressive vocal range here! Romain really shines as well on the Uke and in the French verses! 😍 I hope you will react to songs from Romain’s new album soon! I don’t think he has a label either so reaction videos are a great way to support his work and get it out there! ❤
Have you watched "Metal: A Headbangers Journey"? Amazing documentary by a metalhead anthropologist on the history of metal. He created a family tree of metal genres that he goes through with amazing interviews, the biggest beong Dickenson, Dio, and Iommi. He also interviews some of the depths of black metal and pther genres. Great documentary!
I love this one and I always suggest this one when things get heavy , One of the things I like is that you get to see Ren enjoying the music and having a laugh with his band . We all get very anxious for him for what he goes through on the daily and it is wonderful to see him happy and that seems to make everyone elce happy as well . Definatly listen to the original , the Big Push changed it a little but like all their covers it is a tribute to the original ,played with respect . CHINCHILLA 'S new song is fire like all her others .well worth the listen. There is another name that is well worth catching up with and that is Sam Tomkin , all their work together ( Sam and Ren )is exceptional ,Sam has the singing voice of a bluesy angel. There is one track you can save for a day when you need a cheer up , its called Blind Eyed featuring the angry car park attendant . But anything they do together is quality. Another great reaction Thank you Love to your better half ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I loved your back story, very interesting. I used to listen to Dr. Demento all the time, love him! I really enjoy your reactions. I love Ren he is amazing!
Omg drum corps! Drum corps _and_ Ren!! I love you 😭😭❤ (The older gens of my family were 27th Lancers all the way. Blue Devils and Phantom Regiment for me!) Enjoying your reactions and perspectives a lot 😊✌🤘 thank you! ❤ (and can't wait for solo Chinchilla reactions!)
Wonderful!! I loved the 27th Lancers and Phantom and BD have always been my top 2 faves. Love to know when you marched. I may have seen you on the field. Thank you for your kind words. I too can't wait for CHINCHILLA!!! Love you too! ❤️
@@BemusingBill ❤ My priorities at the time were ballet (which my body regrets today 😂), so I didn’t march drum corps as my summer schedule wouldn’t have allowed it. Played oboe in high school so I was on cymbals in marching band lol.
Also, English lit major and I know that his father has a history in medieval studies. I think his father even performs medieval renaissance music. So yep minstrel is the first thing that got me as well...
I haven't said it here but I think he's BETTER than Kurt Cobain to be honest 👌 The Charasmatic Voice, I mentioned to her she should listen to TOLL ÆNEMA - Stinkfist, purely from an artistic kind of value. The Video, the drums wow so we'll see 😂
Nice vid - it is a Uke - there are great guitar/music shops in Brighton - Hobgoblin Music, Mudpie, Badlands, Maestro, North Laine, Adaptatrap and Akerman are just a few. The large number is a reflection of just how active the music/street scene is.

Wow! Kings X!!!! My band opened for them back in the 80's. I think somewhere in Connecticut. they were fire! Such amazing musicians and if memory serves, very nice guys to us teenagers. I haven't heard their music in decades. Gonna deep dive their catalogue ASAP. Thank you !
This is my favourite channel now! Thank you for doing this. I thought about doing a reaction channel because I felt the same when Ren came along. I'm 44 and haven't liked any artist or band since Jamiroquai in the early 90's but they now feel a bit tacky. Great musicans and great live though. I tried to record a video but i honestly think you need to be a musician to react to music!!!!
I remember one of your more emotional reactions and some were aware of your heavy heart and thought to offer one of their lighter and upbeat songs because DAMN Ren has some tunes that are just gut wrenching and beautifully painful. I RESPECT your PASSION and true love of MUSIC and truly enjoy your thoughts and feelings about them, including any you may not care for (as much). Haven't seen one yet that you weren't a fan of. I didn't think it would happen to me...but it did. Ren has 2 (out of a gagillion lol) that I just don't care for (and so what right? LOL). Great reaction !
Well, as threy say, they can't all be bangers. Even with my all time, lifelong favorite bands there are songs, even albums I don't like. That's natural I think. But so far, Ren is batting a thousand. Finding one I don't like wont change a thing. Thank you for hanging out!
The problem with the commenting is that you want to talk to the reactor, to respond to different parts, but it's not convenient in this format. 🙃 Anyway, I just want to let you know that I appreciate you very much and I'm thankful to your wife for suggesting you to have this channel. I don't know how it works actually but I loved you from your first video, and it's a great pleasure to watch and hear you. )) I'd like to see you jamming with Ren and the boys somewhere like this rooftop here (BTW have you noticed it's the same one as in "Murderer"?). And I wish to be there in person, not just watching a video (they say it's not harmful to dream😁). I just love such get-togethers with my musician friends, when they just start singing spontaneous covers and just jamming. It would be an incredible happiness to witness something like that with Ren. 🧡
I love Bongo Bong. It's such a fun song. And they definitely do put their own spin on it. I enjoyed learning about your background. We have some things in common. I was in band in school, played saxophone, and 3 of my kids were also. My 2 youngest sons did drum corps. I also grew up with Dr. Demento and Monty Python. I was a little late to the metal party (I grew up in a very conservative religion), but I really enjoy it now. I'm glad you're going to check out Romain's solo music. It is very different from The Big Push, but beautiful. I really like the live version of Love Without Feelings. Romain plays piano, and there is a choir. It would be a nice introduction.
Thank you for that recommendation! i've put it on my list. Been wanting to check out his stuff. I'd love to know what corps they marched with. Thanks for sharing some of your background! I always wanted to learn sax eversice hearing the sax solos in Pink Floyd's Money and Foreigner's Urgent. Thanks for hanging out!
@@BemusingBill I believe it was Blue Stars. On of my sons played the contra bass. I remember that it was 55 lbs! I played through a year and a half of college (I was 8 months pregnant the last time I marched. I'm sure I looked ridiculous). Then I had 4 kids and life got crazy. I still played, but not as much after my kids were born. I can't do it anymore because of my rheumatoid arthritis. And yes, those are some great sax solos.
Should check out some Australian for Humour, Kevin Bloody Wilson or his daughter Jenny Taliah. They're Absolute Crack ups. Tears of a different kind, definitely along with some Green stuff 🍃 You'll have a ball Dude seriously 🚬😎👌
When you get a minute listen to the original by Manu Chao and just see how much work went into this retake on the song. No need to post a reaction to the original but it's remarkable what these 3 did to it.

Thank you very much! Very kind of you to say. Maybe spending too much time with my cats lol
❤ #Ren #TheBigPush
You can alway's just tell they are all true musicians/artists. So good ❤
Love hearing your back story and excellent reactions❤
Thank you so much! ❤️
I feel your pain on the housework 😂. Enjoying your experienced eyes and ears. Experience is the best educator 🫡!🇬🇧!
That was so much FUN! Childlike almost. This could have been in the movie "Ice Age" alongside Rusted Root "Send Me on My Way".
I haven’t listened to it all yet but his music is beautiful (very very different to Ren and The Big Push)
🖤
Edit : I typed this before the video had finished so you know Romain has a new album out already 🤣
Yeah, I was thinking Romain is playing one of those Pineapple Ukes.
You're right about the uke. Totally my bad. I can't wait to check out Romain's album! I like his voice and his guitar playing is fire.
I thought it was a pineapple uke as well, then someone told me off and said it was a lute, but I stand by my original thought ha ha
Enjoyed your reaction and hearing a bit of your background! I grew up teen in the 70s listen to the same hard rock and heavy metal - Sabbath, Judas Priest big time! - UFO, Budgie, STARZ… and also I have one for ya.. I grew up with this amazing talent in Joliet, Illinois named Doug Pinnick… the soulful voice in amazing bass playing, became a quick group of his early bands, and he went on to form a band called Kings X! They were ahead of their time being recognized as influencing bands, like Nirvana Pearl Jam, Soundgarden ahead of their time.!! they’re still together and just released her 16th album! They never crossed over into main stream success, but are considered the musicians band with their complex arrangements but yet soulful, heavy, driving riffs with Beatlesque harmonies. Please check them out - Start with Dogman, The world around me, We are finding who we are, It’s Love, Groove Machine and Pray. 🤘🤘🔥🔥‼️
- Enjoying your journey here!! (Yeah Ren is a “once in a generation” talent / gift!!🔥💯‼️‼️
I like listening to someone who knows what their talking about, I 💯 agree with you about Ren he does have a love for music going back to the 1920s too, you can see that with the " love music songs" love your reactions ❤
Thank you, I appreciate that. Yeah, Ren really knows music and taps into that knowledge which makes him so unique.
The Big Push is my favorite Ren work. I recommend their cover of Englishman In New York if you like this one.
I do like me a good mood lifter! Thank you ❤️
Pretty sure Big Push-wade in the water will be some thing you like
Yes! Ren on base, and the singing is really sick, both Ren's and Gorran's...
One of my favorite mash-ups from them is 'These Boots Are Made For Walkin'/Satisfaction/Everybody". That's Nancy Sinatra/Rolling Stones/Blues Brothers. Who but these guys would do such a thing? And they sing it in a laundromat.
You had me at the mash-up but you sold me on the laundromat!! CAN'T WAIT!
@@BemusingBillDef do that one, man! Fire!
Thank you for your story!
Thanks for listening and hanging out!
I second the recommendation of Swan Song - beautiful harmonies from the Big Push, and Ren plays the melodically, which is one step closer to the kazoo you keep asking for 😂
Melodica. Oops! Autocorrect 🙄
@@eryksun Thanks, that's interesting.
Your a good bloke. Keep goin mate!
Thank you my friend!
Love your reactions!
Given what you've said about your background, i really hope you'll react to their song Swan Song. ❤️
Even when he sings with Chinchilla there's just Talent fa days n days
😎👌
Lol so glad you enjoyed that, and thank you for sharing some of your background, great reaction, catch you soon 🙏🦉❤️🐊👍
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! 🤘❤️🤘
Sweet little lady live version the big push is great
I really enjoy your history. We could have hung out together!! I have always had an affinity for muscians. 😊 Your enthusiasm is contagious!
Thank you so much! I enjoy hanging out with you even in this capacity. Much love❤️
Great reaction sir ❤
You really should give Manu Chao, the buskers busker, a listen. "Welcome to Tijuana" "Clandestino". Or Bongo Bong
I love this and listen to it a lot its a happy song.
Bongo Bong as done by the Big Push is just such an incredible vibe. Nothing quite like it
Bongo Bong! 😍 This was my most played song this summer!! 👌🏽 They somehow managed to capture a Mediterranean vibe on top of a roof terrace on a cloudy day in Brighton 😀
Romaine has skillz... Bill you have a lot of catching up to do😄
It was nice to hear some of your musical background... I'm looking forward to some anecdotes in the near future..😊
Please add to your list The Big Push's mash-up of These boots are made for walking/ Satisfaction/ Everybody. Performed in a laundrette. A harmonica is involved. And harmonies 💜
Great reaction Bill, love the musical insights. Thanks m8
Thanks, mate! 🤘🤘
I enjoyed your mini autobiography! It's interesting to know a reactor's roots. It helps me understand their pov better which gives another depth to the reaction
This was definitely a vibe!
I love their harmonies, so bummed they broke up. They have some great content from the lockdown .
Let's hope for a reunion when Ren gets back to the UK. 🙏
thank you Bill love your back story, and always love your reactions to my favourite artist ever am 63 years old and have followed Ren for years this is one of his favourites with the big push ❤❤
Thank you for those kind words! Reading them was a lovely start to my day! Oh yes, Icarus is on the list! Much Love❤️
I concur.
My son played in Drum Corp. Playing Quads also. Always fun following the Corps.
You just brought me back to high school band and our band director having us watch hours of drum and bugle corps. 🥰 Fun memories.
Loved listening to your story and your reaction 😁👏👏👏 love to see you reacting to the tale of Jenny and screech the trilogy 🙏
I am a musical connoisseur and this song by Manu Chao is so fun!
That was fun! Loved hearing more about your background; so much knowledge and experience! Keep them coming!🤗✌🏻🫶🏻
Thank you so much!
One of my favorites, thanks for the reaction
Another great reaction
Thank you
Love to your better half
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much! I've been dying to get to that Blind Eyed and the angry park attendant. Hopefully soon. Much love from us both! ❤️
Loving living the journey with you.
My happy place is The Big Push.
Now I know why! It is a happy place ❤️
I loved your back story, very interesting. I used to listen to Dr. Demento all the time, love him! I really enjoy your reactions. I love Ren he is amazing!
Thank you!!
Omg drum corps! Drum corps _and_ Ren!! I love you 😭😭❤ (The older gens of my family were 27th Lancers all the way. Blue Devils and Phantom Regiment for me!)
Enjoying your reactions and perspectives a lot 😊✌🤘 thank you!
Love your channel! Very cool to get to know your musical history and loved Dr Demento😄
I haven't said it here but I think he's BETTER than Kurt Cobain to be honest 👌
The Charasmatic Voice, I mentioned to her she should listen to TOLL ÆNEMA - Stinkfist, purely from an artistic kind of value. The Video, the drums wow so we'll see 😂
These guys are amazing thanks Bill love your reactions.
Agreed 100% ... And thank you for your kind words.... means a lot to me .... much love brother ❤️
@@BemusingBill Ditto
Nice vid - it is a Uke - there are great guitar/music shops in Brighton - Hobgoblin Music, Mudpie, Badlands, Maestro, North Laine, Adaptatrap and Akerman are just a few. The large number is a reflection of just how active the music/street scene is.
Enjoyed your reaction and hearing a bit of your background! Wow! Kings X!!!! My band opened for them back in the 80's. I think somewhere in Connecticut. they were fire! Such amazing musicians and if memory serves, very nice guys to us teenagers. I haven't heard their music in decades. Gonna deep dive their catalogue ASAP. Thank you !
Love your reactions. Think you would really love The Big Push’s ‘Swan
Song’ - it’s really beautiful and I think you’d appreciate it.
next up. Praise You. another fun side
I was gonna suggest this one! One of my favs.
Great reaction! I remember the Dr. Demento show, loved it.
Thank you!
I used to listen to Dr. Demento! ( Yeah, I'm one of those older Renegades...66)
Romain is playing a mandolele or a ukelin.
Listening to some of your "back story" having that beer with you would be awesome.....(ref previous comment ) Peace and love from the UK
Much love to you!! 🍻🍺🍺🍺
The problem with the commenting is that you want to talk to the reactor, to respond to different parts, but it's not convenient in this format. 🙃
Anyway, I just want to let you know that I appreciate you very much and I'm thankful to your wife for suggesting you to have this channel. I don't know how it works actually but I loved you from your first video, and it's a great pleasure to watch and hear you. ))
I'd like to see you jamming with Ren and the boys somewhere like this rooftop here (BTW have you noticed it's the same one as in "Murderer"?).
Yeah, not being familiar with the original I'm very interested in seeing the boys take on it.
Love this so much
Time for some Suiide and For Joe 2 songs thats are powerful as How to be me! but my fav that i think you would enjoy is Blind eyed by ren and sam but it must be the mc sessions verison this is very important if you want to do this track! cant wait to see more, hugs all around
nice reaction!...liked and sub'd 🏴☠
You have the highest watched/liked -ratio in RUclips and I do this shit all day!
Do you know about tim minchin? A great Australian musical comedian.
Yup! Just discovered him. Check my channel for my first reaction to him. I think he's great!
