Really, Really appreciate your review, narration, presentation etc. on the Sig 716i snakebite. Your vid really was the selling point and I ordered straight away! I was able to pick up the snakebite SE. with some added features: Matchlite sig trigger, flash hider/ comp combo. Think that covers it.😆 My first 308. Still on layaway for time being. Hope to pay off by next week. Great vid brother! Thanks much!👍👍👍
I got mine about two years ago I added the SIG muzzle break and replaced the trigger with a LaRue MBT and was able to get sub MOA at 250 yards the only change I would like to make is to find a over size charging handle so I am not having to rub my knuckles on my scope every time I charge it.
These sell online for $1,500 and its a good deal. Anything more than $1,600 is a deal breaker. I swapped out the Sig flash hider for a Midwest 2 chamber brake and a LaRue MBT trigger. Its fantastic after that.
I have an M18 and just bought the M400 Tread. Absolutely love the M18. One stove pipe in 1000+ rounds. Haven't fired the M400 yet bc of work. The 716i will be my next purchase tho. It looks like a good AR10 in my opinion. 👍
I was going to get this model but decided not to. The gas block is not adjustable, which was the main reason I decided to pass. Got a PSA gen 3 6.5 creedmoore instead. Super sweet so far.
@@ballisticliberty7411 Trigger felt a bit stiff to me just dry-shooting. I may replace that. Maybe the charging handle too. Have to get it out and zero the sights first and see how it all feels. Can’t wait!
Hey buddy great video. I have the same gun and on the barrel it is stamped 7.62 nato and not 308 so my gun dealer guy told me if I shoot 308 through this gun the barrel may blow up. Is that true? Or do you think it’s safe to shoot 308 out of this rifle? I appreciate your response.
Both is good. I believe it is not good the other way around. If it is good for a 308 it will not shoot the 7.62. Just make sure it is 7.62x51 not any other length
@Ballistic Liberty uhh what? Dude that's complete nonsense!! No different than 5.56 vs 223!! Shoot either your fine. Dude quit perpetuating malarkey 308 is fine through a 7.62 barrel.
Please do a simple Google search although they basically the same the pressure can different and the company will not warranty a firearm if your shoot the wrong round
I have the 716i and it’s a shoulder bruiser my lower says multi cal but the barrel says 7.62x51 I also run .308 through it no problems so far dialed in hitting gongs at 700 yards with heavy hot loads but change the charging handle their shit but keep in mind every charging handle won’t work go with the phase5 Sig 716i charging handle others will not work
Im disappointed in mine. I cant go through a full 20rd mag without at least 2 stoppages, and my drum mag has stoppages every other round. Im not exagerrating.
I assume you broke it down and cleaned the gun as well lubed moving parts. As well I am assuming you are using a decent quality of ammo. If it continues call Sig and send it in. I have one and it has been a great shooter. So the potential is there. Good luck.
@thomaskingsbury6560 Thank you. Since my post, the problem has worked itself out. I did actually break it down and lube it, and it seemed to do the trick (I haven't had a chance to test my drum since then, but Pmags have been flawless). Since then, I haven't had any issues whatsoever. I've been happy enough with it that I started putting money into it-PRS STOCK, CMC trigger, and bipod. When I originally had the problem, I'll admit I was using cheap ammo, but that shouldn't matter in my opinion. I believe it really should just work. That being said, since the problem resolved itself I've put over 200 rounds through it with no issues. This was my first ever 2A purchase. I knew nothing back then, and I frankly know very little now lol, but I'm working on it.
I do hand loading, because of the inconsistency of old military ammo I was using when I first started. Example, DSArms makes a reproduction of the FN Fal. With military surplus it was all over the place. I tried match grade ammo and could maintain 2 moa at two hundred yards. I made my own and it was a small amount better. So yes in a rifle like that it matters. Hand loading made the biggest difference in my long range guns. They are higher quality and made for repetitive firings. Hand loading gets sub moa at 1,2,3 hundred yards. These guns will not do that. The other thing rapid firing will heat the barrel and accuracy will diminish sharply. Enjoy!
@@thomaskingsbury6560 Thanks, man. The reason I said that the ammo shouldn't matter is because, before I bought it, I watched every guntuber review I could find, and every one of them was glowing about how "it ate any ammo I put through it with no issues at all." They also stated that this was after firing right from the box-no cleaning or lubing on their part. I just went with what I had, man 😆.
I have the same rifle (Sig Sauer 716I Tread) from 10 months ago. This is a great Rifle AR-10 system. Please tell me, how much rounds is a barrel life of this rifle if i shoot with normal quality cartridges load with standars quality bullets non a bimetal bulets like a russian crap Barnaul. Please, tell me how much rounds is a life of sig 716I bolt (breech face)
Calling bs. Sfar has had an abundance of failures. A very few are doing well. Ruger is doing right by their customers. Until the gun is working as it should I would say the sfar blows and stop there.
@@ballisticliberty7411 I have an AI AX50 ELR, an AIAX (SA), TRG42, TRG22, more ARs than I can count (including a MK12 Mod0 with two (knurled and not knurled) AEM5s, over 30 tax stamps…. 1 genuine HK SP5, 4 MKE “clones”, a mess of handguns (including a MK23 with one of 20 B&T MK23 cans that ever made it into the US), 2 B&T “subguns”, and a B&T APC308, etc. etc. etc. So, when I say Sig sucks, I say it from a position of experience snd first hand knowledge.
Having said all that opinions are still like assholes everybody has one and they usually stink. AI is an over rated product for people with more money than sense who like bragging rights. I have an mk23 too and an SR 15 and a myriad of others as well as the Sig. It has proven quite reliable and is as accurate as can be expected from a gas gun. I have 4 long range bolt actions that cost as much or more than your AI’s and the Sig still shoots well for what it is.
@@thomaskingsbury6560 You have four bolt guns that costs more than $14,000 (the price of my AI AX50 ELR). Which ones? (this ought to be good). FWIW, you don't know me or why I bought the AIs, (it was an evolution, and it was an economics decision, b/c I can hot swap barrels that are cheap to have made). Now kindly, Fuck off.

Just a heads up that the charging handle is proprietary. It uses the same changing handle as the piston gun, so standard AR10 handles will not work.
Phase 5 makes a ambi charging handle
Sig offers a ambi one for 80 bucks on their website

Great review. I love my 716i. However it not completely compatible with all aftermarket parts such as charging handle. Have to get bigger from Sig.

I just placed my order. I have been researching this for a bit and like what I see. Thank you for the review!

I’ve been looking into doing a 6.5 build from psa
Good review keep up the good work 👍🏼
Standard ar-15 extended latches work for it. I can confirm I switched mine out .
Do you still have this rifle and if so do you still like it. How well has it held up.
Move the scope forward for better access to the charging handle
I love the rifle, great review!
Out of the box it kicks like a mule. Bruise after 40 rounds. Get the after market SIG muzzle break. Eliminates all that kick
I JUST bought one of these. Haven’t even had a chance to get it out to the range, yet.
In an AR-10 profile.
Definitely shoots nice

If it is stamped 762 then only shoot 762 because there is the possibility of it blowing up

What is the most accurate ammo?
I am still shooting surplus.
What about accuracy....??
The accuracy is really good way better than expected I own some nice bolt actions that still aren’t as accurate
