    I use my 716i to hunt and have harvested 6 or so axis this year. I have matched it with with the Sig Sierra3 4.5-14x50x/Kilo1800 range finder. I never had had any major issue with the trigger and like another guy has said, it does seem to lighten up. I have had no issue getting sub moa with Federal 168g Berger Hybrid.
    Great gun and greater value for the price in my opinion.

    Absolutely great rifle and another great addition to the Tread lineup. Do wish it was offered in an 18" and even 20" barrel models. Hoping that EuroOptic will also offer the combo with the bundled 4.5-14x44 Sierra 3 BDX Scope.

      20", maybe, if you really want to stretch to 1K yards. And would be nice to see it offered in 6.5CM as well for the same reason. 18", not so much.
      There's just not that big a performance gain from 16" to 18" in .308 (or loss going the other way, however you want to look at it). You get maybe 50fps more with most loads, a little less flash and blast, and a fair bit more weight going from 16" to 18" in .308 with the same barrel profile. And of course you've got two more inches of barrel to contend with.

    I reckon that military contracts were in mind (talking about you, India) when they spec'd that trigger weight.

    The trigger smooths out after a SMALL break in. Zeroed mine in about 13 rounds, then put about 47 more downrange. Trigger is noticeably lighter now and just as smooth. Upgrades may work well, but it will get better on its own if you shoot it. My two cents...

    I have a geissele G2 trigger and the ssa-e, but due to the weight of this rifle, I prefer the slightly heavier (and cheaper) G2 for off hand shooting. I felt the ssa-e could break just by breathing heavy with the trigger prepped in the standing position.

    Thats a handy rifle. I think you forgot to mention the tapered muzzle shoulder.

  • @vanessajazp6341
    @vanessajazp6341 2 года назад

    Just bought one of these and took it to the range for the first time. The trigger is fairly stiff. You may want to consider replacing that. And if you have more sensitive shoulders like I do, you may want to consider getting a cushion for the butt and/or a muzzle brake. It definitely kicks with some authority.
    Otherwise, nice and accurate once you get your sights zeroed.

    8+ lb trigger seems too heavy. Sounds like a spring swap is needed. Big fan of the rest! Thanks for reviewing it!

    • @cameronmorgan4585
      @cameronmorgan4585 3 года назад

      I swapped for a better trigger, but I did try a lighter spring and put it in an AR15, it's actually a really nice trigger, just needed a spring swap. But being single stage I wouldn't prefer it for long range.

    I’ve been lucky to shoot both the Sig Tread 7.62, and Springfield Saint Victor .308. I love Sig, but you simply get more for your money with a stock Springfield .308, and at a better price. (weight, trigger, muzzle break). They should’ve found a way to “one-up” Springfield, before releasing this Tread 7.62.

    • @Croak1
      @Croak1 3 года назад +4

      They did one-up them. Just by not being Springfield. :) And unlike the silly huge "Saint" stamped on the magwell that's there for life, you can take the silly "Tread" logos off.

      @@Croak1 ha ha ha ! Good one! I do have Sig’s as well, and love them. But I can’t hate on Springfield. They’re .308’s are awesome long range (IMHO).

    • @phild2048
      @phild2048 3 года назад

      Really… Are you really getting that much more with the Springfield? Let me enlighten you about one of the most Important things about this rifle…This rifle, the 716i (note, I am not talking about the 716 G1 or G2, this is specific to the 716i ) has been adopted by the Indian military by the tens of thousands to be used by their troops along their border with China. It has undergone extensive trials over an extended period of time buy a country that has a national policy of designing manufacturing and distributing everything in house whenever reasonably possible i.e. designed, made and distributed only in India… Remember when we used to do that as a nation?!?! Anyway, my point is is that they broke from that nationalistic protocol after testing this rifle and went with it anyway. In full disclosure they do have a fully ramped up program for a platform that will follow that nationalistic protocol, and, they also run its predecessor in larger numbers i.e. the 716 G2, but we’re talking about this platform here.
      Think about the customer service that you already have with sig Sauer, now think about the fact that there are ~ 70,000 of these in circulation, and in a high profile situation, i.e. the tensions between China and India @ their DMZ, with the potential for future orders of the same design by other nations if it continues to succeed in India, and you get a platform that Sig is banking on in a big way. Basically, by adopting this platform into my philosophy of use I am afforded the testing of this platform, and therefore Sigs direct attention too and substantial investment they are in, on a relatively huge scale when compared to other civilian marketed platforms of a similar type .You can call out the great cc of a company as a primary variable in your decision making process with respect to which companies platform you’re going to go with and I would be the first person in line to commend you for doing so. If you are a layman here to firearms, customer service in this industry varies to the extreme and is a very important aspect of your investment in a fire arm that you should consider before you buy anything. But I don’t care what you say about Springfield Armory‘s customer service…or any other manufacturers customer service for that matter…Theirs may be as good as Sigs, but it is not better, and then we inject the above variables and have a platform that is being supported by a highly reputable company for a very long time at a very affordable price for what you get.
      If you want a 1MOA capable .308 In a fairly light 8.5 pound package, that is very reliable and affordable and has to a certain extent the reputation of Sig Sauer on the line behind it, then look no further… you have arrived.

    • @johngg25
      @johngg25 3 года назад

      @@phild2048 holy cow Phil, that’s a LONG plug for Sig. I love Sig. But all I meant was that Springfield offers a lot more for a an entry level “out of the box” .308, than Sig’s new .308. I would gladly own both. But if I could have only one (due to cost of gun and Ammo), then I think the Springfield is the choice for anyone “not” in the Indian national defense forces, and funding their own long range fun gun. 🙂

    Love this rifle. How does it differ from the sig 516 besides being a 30 caliber.

    • @phoenixtx
      @phoenixtx 3 года назад +1

      It's a DI gun instead of short stroke piston driven like the 516. The Sig 716 G2 was the .30 cal version of the 516. This is more like the .30 cal version of the Sig M400 Tread
