MultiVersus is going to be shut down until early 2024, and I wanted to go over the news with you guys. It's a bummer, but ultimately should be positive for the game's long-term health.

People are so used to beta being the norm that when a beta actually does a beta move, people are shocked and outraged
Tbh I think it’s due to a lot of games releasing unfinished products and claiming it’s a beta until they finish the game. MultiVersus actually treated their beta like a beta, and they’re going to receive a ton of flack for it now.
What kind of actual beta has microtransactions and 100$ packs?
@@NosyBoy I couldn't agree more, I'm not a fan of it but I won't get on my soapbox here. It certainly felt to me like they intended it to be more like what you describe, but they didn't get the success they expected so they pivoted. Hopefully they pull it off, the game has real potential.

@@no.1spidey-fan182 no you're not required to buy founder packs or cosmetic skins or battle passes, however if you wish to support this game developers is very common knowledge that you buy these things to show that you're interested in this game imo this is very scummy to take down online mode when you have people who've bought all these things.
The bad: The game will stay offline for 7 months
The really bad: The people who bought the initial packs and other things were screwed, unable to use their purchases for 7 months.
The good: The game so far was an Open Beta, the real launch is in 2024.
However: It is still scummy to start an Open Beta with so many purchases and it was probably closed because the game didn't do well at the Beta.
The really good: The game will stay available offline, in couch multiplayer, finally online-only service bubble is bursting, if servers close again, this time forever, we will have the game available offline, we just need online P2P servers now.
I can see that point of view for sure, but the purchases will still be there when the game fully launches. It's also possible that the purchases in the beta were to help get the game more budget/funding. Still this is a very rational take on the whole thing. Good stuff.

It’s sad to see that the game’s gonna be gone for a while, but it’s for the best. I’m happy that the developers are taking their time to fix the issues with the game and this is definitely the best way to go about doing it. It’s not a goodbye forever and more of a see you later.

I respect their decision. Sucks sure, but I'll get over it. They're basically pulling a No Man's Sky: dead game shortly after start, followed by silence from developers as they work on the game, to finally a game worth coming back to.
Bad news: multiversus will be offline for 7 months
Good news: they will have better characters, maps, and game modes along with new marketing tactics and everybody’s progress and purchases will remain when the game comes out
Yeah no way its coming back. They lied constantly about season 2, 3. Thats a burried game and WB is trying to avoid a lawsuit for the people who spent money on this.
They’re right to make this decision. We’ve been playing the open beta, not the full game, so I’m not angry, sad, or disappointed about it. I’ll wait for them to complete the process of the game

If they announced the shutdown after Marvin the Martian was released and started the full game some time around right now, we wouldn’t have this situation to begin with.

Well at least by the time the full game launches,We will get a truck load of new characters,stages,modes and a third party,I am thankful😌✊🏻And hopefully it comes to the switch on launch day🤞🏻
I mean I would prefer the game staying up since i still think the game’s enjoyable, ofc there are some things that keep me from playing it often but i still love this game very much
So honestly maybe a break for PFG to actually fix the problems with the game might be good, even if it’s gonna be a while for us to play it, let’s enjoy the time we have with it until it leaves then returns

they aren't coming back. if they didn't released the game too soon the hype would've still been there but now it's gone this is just a cover up watch they end up shutting the game completely down when the time comes to release it again

What bothers me the most is that there was 4 months of literally no content, just shut it down last year then. But then you realize they had to sell all the skins they made first and Tony had the balls to say "refunds will not be given". Just despicable.
The best option for it. It better be a lot of characters and modes. This talking about including tons of characters across all their mediums.

bruh it's not necessarily a lie ... they mis-planned , miscalculated the time , hell they even got finished characters and skins like pickle rick , joker and I bet daffy duck
but dropping them now is stupid ... save them for next year , we want a finished game so delaying it to 2024 is the right move
I definitely get how scathing it feels that PFG had a functioning in-game store, and the rollout of content has been slow along with the lack of communication. I even thought the game would seamlessly transition into a full game without having to shut down. While I may be admittedly biased in favor of MultiVersus and platform fighters, the game which I love a lot definitely did have it's issues. Honestly, much of the community for this game has been toxic, uninformed, and rash especially since the audience for these kinds of games are different than the audience for traditional fighting games. As disappointing as it is, taking MultiVersus down temporarily is for the better. The game was pretty much in early access and the devs were accepting payment to fund the game as well as attempting to develop it while it was live. They definitely should've been better prepared and more communicative but they seemed to haved learned and are applying such. This is more and better than mamy other games amd companies. This is a great video.
It was good just the problems i had was
1.No switch port(but were get that in full release)
2.I cant map both my sticks.
3.I had bought LeBron James,Iron Giant,1 or 2 others with gold and stop playing got bored w/the game and came back like 2 or 3 months later and S2 came out and i was like let me go back and well my characters that i bought were again locked and didnt get back any gold what so ever.

I hope they'll at least add the ability to fight cpus offline, just to have a way for single players to still enjoy the game.

I played 10 yellow bar connections in a row, and it’s only 3 bars. That’s all I have to say.
Ps I have 1gb internet, LAN connected.
I wish they at least announced this at the end of Season One. That was the last big high of the community, and I think it would have left a better taste in everyone's mouths.
I am also glad the lab is still open so we could at least fight bots lol

I do think it's good the game is shutting down for now, it's something I thought was going to happen after the pre season ended instead of immediately going into season 1 and 2.
I believe you are right that distance makes the heart grow fonder so hopefully this time will be used to slowly hype up the game again and refine it. As you said in a previous video about characters like Sloth and Wicked Witch, I do hope they get announced in the upcoming months before the release of the game even though you know people are gonna complain about them, best to reveal them now and save the highly characters for when the game is relaunched.
So even though it will be put on the back burner, I'm hoping the game will come back with a bang!

Every game that's a platform fighter is a Smash Bros. Clone? Mind you, I'm a huge fan of Smash Bros. but I don't get that logic respectfully, since Titanfall would have to be a COD clone, and Tekken would have to be Virtua Fighter clone then.

no man's sky and world war 3 , those two are different from MVS but they have little similarities
and I actually can't call world war 3 a failure ... it's just so unlucky and got affected by the war in ukraine

I can't believe the amount of white knighting for a game literally shutting down after charging for microtransactions and season passes. Not to mention it was able to be nominated AND WON best fighting game. As a consumer there's literally no reason to believe your product will be yanked from you like that when everything lined up ti say the game was going to stay and they profited off the good word of mouth.

I expect it to work like every other "beta" and either be a very limited time p3riod that they say in advance or be worked on alongside the final product while gamers test it. No other game or live service in recent memory thata worth a toss has shut down after a year just cause they were in beta to prepare foe the final release. And if you know any that have please let me know (just to avoid head ass comments Final Fantasy didn't get shut down the same way. Game was finished but it was bad so they rebuilt the game)
It's insane how many people are acting like this should be normalized. I liked multiversus as a concept and I don't think it's wrong to ask for microtransactions in a f2p game. But doing that and then shutting the servers down to "work on final build" suspiciously as they bleed players, while also having some of the stingiest and least rewarding microtransactions, it just doesn't feel like something worth defending

I'm a sucker for nostalgia so that's why I bought it, even if I knew clearly it was a Smash bros clone, a game type I never liked.
I'd rather Multiversus was a thing they could use for other kinds of games as well.
