A resurrected Emperor could take the power with HIM into a corporeal form. Let's be honest, we don't have a sodding clue what level of understanding, knowledge and will-power the Big-E has attained in HIS time on the Golden Throne. Things that seem utterly and completely impossible for HIS servants, could be things HE could do while yawning or shaving first thing in the morning! Lets find out what He thinks, because as we all know the Big-E doesn't ANYTHING without the kind of fu*k off Plan that would make the D-Day landings look like kids playing in a sandbox!
If the emperor is a perpetual then shouldn't his healing factor/immortality AT THE LEAST be on par with that of Vulcan who resurrected from a far worse level of dead that the emperor?
Alternate methods:
The biggest ork waaaagh ever would come to Terra and they would all collectively believe that da emprah is ready to wake up so he can tell them how to get to Angron to avenge Yarrick.
All eldar harlequins would perform the most annoying performance beyong human comprehension in the throne room non-stop until big E would stand up to tell them to fuck off
Tau added their technology expertise, advising to "turn it off and on" and it works.
Tyranids figure out letting chaos unchecked is like purposely setting oven to burn all your food, so they derive the strongest sniffing salts in the universe, put it under his nose, then leave waiting for him to turn off the oven.
The orangutan species bring some random crap they found in the trashbin, fix the throne with it, make it run on banana peels instead of emperor juice and refuse to elaborate, since they never talk.
My favorites here are the Tau and Jokaero options, and I honestly don't know which I prefer.

I read this as one continuous plan and i refuse to interpret it any other way. The idea of a Harlequin massacre/performance going on while some random Tau are in the back unplugging the the router while the Greenskins are out front thinking theyre about to be a part of the greatest krumpin 'eva is pretty on brand imo.
Unless Big E got redeemed Magnus the Red to sit on the Golden Throne, He ain't gonna leave it and cause the Astronomicon to blackout across the galaxy with many worlds cut off from the Imperium.

If Draigo's power scaling is actually because Grey Knight Supreme Grand Masters have Magnus' noble shard that could potentially work as a Magnus substitute.
I might be wrong but I remember hearing somewhere that the golden throne is Necron tech. So what if someone could work something out with them and fix the throne. Then could Big E get up off it without needing someone else to sit on it?
The Golden Throne is said to enhance the power of any psyker who sits on it if they have the durability to survive it. If so, after ten thousand years he could power the astronomicon even while standing on the opposite side of the galaxy to the throne. Even before the heresy, he didn't have to sit on the throne to power the astronomicon
The only reason he would need someone on the throne would be to keep the webway gate closed. So if that's closed he wouldn't need magnus

Big E will probably wake, hang around for an edition as a pale shadow of his former self, have to sacrifice himself to stop a galaxy threat from outside (Tyranids or whatever is coming after them) and goes back to sleep to maintain a barrier or similar.
I personally think Russ is going to bring back some xenos tech/magic from an unknown race, who are the ultimate threat Big E needs to defeat, hopefully with more than the power of positivity.

A lore snip bit I saw was that Cawl Inferior predicted that bringing Big E back to life would not be ideal. Imagine how broken the mind of a man who was tortured for 10k years and then waking up to see his empire being turned to dust
Hes already emotionless because of his pre fight with Horus and then you lock him on a torture chair for 12k years with God indoctrination and you think he isn't gonna erase everything?
Big E is fine. We know that he chose the throne and we know he’s helping his sons fight for humanity.
For him to return to his full glory, he needs the star child.

One part of the lore say hes basically akin to a babbling infant as far as his connection and understanding to humanity is concerned. Another part says hes playing 15d backgammon and the scheming boy is playing 13d checkers thinking hes one move ahead of the emperor, while the emperor also sets fire to another gods garden as a party trick.
The lore isn't very consistent on how the Emperors current state is.

It's my theory that the Emperor being in limbo is the only reason the Imperium is losing. Because in 40k, prayer and believing something is powerful is a straight powerboost. Simply letting him go, would transform him into the single most powerful God in 40k, in the lore the Chaos Gods are scared of the Emperor dying because he could destroyed them all. His death would most likely cause a massive "Eye of the Emperor" zone in the Galaxy, where humans would be super mega buffed and their ships would be guided by the will of the Emperor (like Chaos does). Chaos couldn't survive in such environment. His death may trigger Terra's destruction, but Terra is just one planet.

@@linkholder Terra is only holy because the God Emperor lives on it and powers the Astronomican, it he becomes an omniscient God, who can guide ships like the Chaos Gods, suddenly it doesn't matter. Plus, "No sacrifice is too great" is the core of the Empire, a planet is a small sacrifice to win the war once and for all.

I mean, the emperor wards off just about anything away from the sol system by his sheer consciousness.
Then there's a bazillion soldiers and marines guarding the zone.
Having multiple thousand custodes hanging around on the planet on top of it is, by all imperial power scales, complete, absolute, extreme overkill. And that's also where all their most precious and powerful relics and gear are located.
There's gotta be much more to that apart from guarding the emperor and watching over the black cells. Idk, dark age of tech buffoonery, secret emperor stash of eldar feet pics, necron artifacts, but something else. Or just it being the most important relic of humanity.
Now if we can just get GW and those Black Library twits to do something like this, we’ll have a working universe again, lol.

If the Emperor becomes a God and blasts everyone, it's basically game over because every human world who pray the Emperor, the majority of the Galaxy, would become "Holy worlds" instead of "demon worlds" of Chaos, Chaos couldn't recruit because the Emperor would claim their soul similar to a Chaos entity, if not malevolent. Fans don't appreciate their universe just ending and GW can't just delete Chaos, people have bought miniatures for it. I guess they could have small Chaotic invasions even if the Imperium wins, but that's not exciting.
The best way to go, I think, is for the Emperor to have a fragment of his mind possess a willing host, letting him directly speak with his subjects again. Thoigh that host would be unable to leave the Sol system.

But would that really be a good idea? The fragments of emperor's mind contradict themselves and disagree with each other, choosing one shard of the emperor to speak for the rest of him could be disastrous

My personal fan theory/fiction:
Constantine Valdor is trying to resurrect Sanguinious.
He has blood Angels with actual wings, which proves he's experimenting with Sanguinious's D.N.A and probably trying to create a suitable vessel for his soul.
The Grails are (if I'm not wrong) warp entities put in the body of blanks, so Valdor is also experimenting with putting warp entities in mortal bodies.
Combined with these facts, he is probably finding a way to create a suitable vessel for Sanguinious and put his soul back in his body
Sanguinious after returning from the dead would know something about the Star Child.
He will reunite the Star Child with the Emperor.
The fusion between the Star Child & Emperor will make him whole again and powerful enough to awaken.
When Throne Emperor gets back to life, he's gonna go for a very enthusiastic walk and ask the forces of Chaos how's their health plans.
Apparently it was great.

In 40k, there is a concept i find quite interesting.
Psychic cannibalism. Imagine being a psyker and out of nowhere in a deep hive getting consumed by another psyker.
The next morning you wake up as if nothing has happened. But somthing is different. Your height, eyecolor and so many other things. Your movements are off, as if sometimes controlled by some one else. And some intrusive thoughts become irresistable.
Slowly you gain memories you never had. Wishes you never wished. You suddenly know names you never learned, friends you never met you start to miss.
And the psyker who consumed you? He feels the same, he too loses himself slowly.
Now imagine you repeat this process twice, thrice in the thousands every day for thousands of years.
It is madness.
The emperor is as good as ded, if not worse.

I think it is possible.
Remember the Dark Eldar have tried to clone the Emperor for their version of the Throne. The Necrons have been experimenting with Space Marines to build flesh bodies capable of housing their restored souls. Cawl has the Alpha - while Bile has told us is an experiment FAR more vast than a simple Primaris Marine prototype. Consider how much sheer power Alpha has.
The pieces are all there. The Eldar faction who helped bring back G. Trazyn has good relations with the Imperium, for a Necron. And we know the Silent King has worked with Sanguinius and he has some sort of relations with G. You talked about the technology to upgrade the Golden Throne. Add to being able to seal the webway breach and the upgraded throne - the Necrons have the technology to upgrade or even replace with Astronomicon with the Pharos. Combining the far better reliability of the Pharos with the power of the Astronomicon could allow the E to save more power.
And there is one more thing - a power source. There is one powersource the Necrons would know how to use. A rather superpowered one - the Void Dragon. If that one is master of the Materium and the originator of blackstone - they could possible release the emperor entire by using the shards of the Void Dragon to power the throne.
So the hints are all there in the lore, but it would take cooperation such as a mass invasion of Nids Sometthing that might even bring Bile and the genetics the Alpha Legion keeps stealing back into the fold to save everything.
Russ comes back from the Tree of Life he has been searching for and gets E back on his feet.
A video on if magnus took the emperors replacement legion would be dope. seeing how the grey knights being there for the heresy would impact things would be a nice video topic
Closing the webway with the help of eldar to ease his burden could happen and would open new interesting possibilities for the lore.
My prediction is that Vashtor will try and use the webway device he got in Arks of Omen to tunnel to the Terran webway portal. This will burst it open but also stabilise it at the same time, meaning once the custodes fight back the attack they can close it more properly.
The Man-Emperor of Mankind can only communicate with a text-to-speech device that He's dying to say his words for 10,000 years.

Why don't you think it would be a good idea? If he came back he would right alot of wrongs in the imperium, be able to advance current tech, abolish the ecclisiarch and other things

The Big E powers the Astronomicon, only tool humanity has to get spacey travelly through the Warp. Without Space Lighthouse, every system gets isolated and extra screwed.
It's why the Webway project was so critical to future development plans - fast travel without the Warp? Heck yeah!
But Butterball the Red had throw a turbo wrench in that pan. Now he's stuck on a gilded toilet, chowing down on Soylent Psychic Green, wondering just what was so confusing about the phrase "I am not a God. Do not worship me. "

1) the emperor's mind has been shattered into thousands of pieces. Even if its put back together, the emperor might not come back whole. Your mind shattered and being in a deathless state for ten thousand years will break anyone and the emperor might be more a threat to the the imperium than its saviour
2) As much as the church can be horrible at times, its arguably the only thing keeping the imperium together using the faith of the God Emperor. Not only that but that same faith is powering the emperor which in turn creates saints, causes mircles and helps the emperor fight off the chaos gods. Get rid of the church and your shooting yourself in the foot. He is far more powerful than he ever was back then as he has practically become a god.

is there like books you can cite as to point 2? Like I could see it making sense, but even if he destroyed the church I dint think people would stop worshipping him, despite his wishes. I'm just wo during if Big E in his current state would actually be stronger.
Something else to co sider is if he came back 100% sound body and mind, that would give such a massive morale boost to the Imperium, plus he actually knows how the tech works and could teach the .mechanicum instead of them basically only being able to maintain the existing equipment
Here's some to consider:
What if all of the Primarchs (save Alpharius because he landed on Terra) somehow died before the Imperium discovered them? (Assume that Vulkan was never found by the Imperium, maybe he was lost in the Warp, maybe the DE got a hold of him, maybe he’s in Trazyn’s galleries, etc). The important thing is, what if no Primarchs?
If any one Loyalist and Traitor Primarch switched sides for the Horus Heresy, who would you choose for the best outcome for either the Loyalists, or the Traitors?
What if the Silent King never got rid of his Command Protocols and took (almost) all the Necrons with him out of the galaxy to perhaps find a new and better one and come across the Tyranids?
What if the Great Crusade had all the Primarchs and none turned Traitor, but there were no Astartes?
What if the Beast Orks succeeded in defeating the Imperium?
What if the Raptor Project succeeded/was never sabotaged?
How would each Heresy/Crusade-era Primarch and Legion fare against the modern Tau Empire?
What if one of the Primarchs landed on a xenos world and was raised by them?
What if the Eldar managed to kill Angron before he was enslaved?
What if another power rose to power during M31 instead of the Imperium, such as the Ullanor Orks, the Rangdan, or the Necrons via the Silent King returning early?
What if the Beast Orks grew to threaten the Imperium before the Heresy could happen?
What if the Tyranids arrived in M31, before the Heresy could happen?
If the beast orks happened before the heresy, they would be taken out easily and the final battle act as the new Istvan where the traitors start the heresy.
If the nids show up early shit hits the fan pretty bad for the imperium, not only would the forces be scattered but they would not realize the True nature of the threat before the heresy would still happen with the loyalists being even more distracted, I could see the emperor dying and chaos winning,among other scenarios. Too much unknowns here tho, maybe it turns out better or worse for the loyalists în here.
The prinarch swap one is easy, just swap jaghati Khan for perturabo. The heresy wouldn't be able to dent the palace of both the iron warriors and imperial fists were defending it, even if they could make planetfall

Theory: The Emperor can return whenever he wants, but won't because being distracted for even 1 second would be disastrous as Daemons would invade Terra, the Astronomican would flicker dooming millions of ships to the warp

In classic 40k fashion, Games Workshop will try to make us believe that one invincible goober would even matter in combat in a world with thousands of planets. His leadership would be the only thing that matters. That's like when 40K says 4 space marines can take a planet. Even real life Earth would be impossible to take by 4 guys, even if they fight all day, their enemies all nicely walking into melee range, offering no resistance, waiting to be struck down, they couldn't dent Earth's population. What would really happen, is that the Emperor, or those Space Marines, would simply eat every single shell of artillery and tanks, planes would bomb them, a billion drones would slam into them.

With the way you described it and those factions teaming up. I imagine the first thing he would do is MOUNTAINS of paperwork, diplomatic meeting galore, and massive restructuring.

That's my problem with this franchise. Anything of actual value takes unnecessary ages to actually occur. The current state of the lore should have been its state some 20 years ago. They're objectively just milking the franchise from a business perspective via slowdrip of anything and everything.

A video about, what if there were no loyalist elements in the traitor legions ,this would also count for omegon and magnus. So there would be no need for the culling at isthvaan and weakening of the traitor forces.. this would be very intresting to see what all the effects would be on the succes of the heresy.
What if the Emperor wasn’t able to reach Nuceria in time to prevent Angron dying from the High Riders? How would having one less available Primarch affect the heresy with more lopsided sides?

There would then be 17 legions instead of 18 making the great crusade last longer due to the reduced man power and reducing the impact of the heresy as there would be 1 less traitor legion.

Emperor waking up really doesn’t solve anything, since he will just stay stuck on the throne. At least he would be able to vocally express how livid he is over the last 10k years of stagnation. Or just scream over the indescribable pain he is constantly.

I think people forget The Emperor is choosing to sit on the throne and him telling cypher not yet could imply he might plan on it but as it stands right now hes more powerful on it.
Where and what the founding loyalist chapters are doing and what some of their more popular/lore relevant successors are up to.

My headcanon, is that the chaos gods showed him how to split off parts of themselves to make greater daemons. And he made primarchs. Angron was the Emperor's empathy, and they put the butcher's nails in it...
I think everybody's forgetting we literally have the void dragon trapped on Mars a deal to fix the golden throne and obtain a Catan Ally would be a huge win for the imperium

i kinda hope that we get the best of both worlds. the Big E's soul leaves his body and he ascends to god status, getting a power-up so powerful that he can just posses his own soulless body like it was nothing.
I think based on lore how the emperor was created by the sacrifice of 12 shamans or what not, the current emperors mind is also splintered back into those 12 shamans, so for him to revive as one man he would need to be reborn in a new body perhaps.

Who's to say that his increased power hasn't just come from 10k years of ONLY being able to use his psycher abilities, honing them to a T and developing them like a muscle and that he'd keep the power increase if he regained his top physical form?
I actually think of an idea for a potentially epic book series on reviving the emperor would be to 1. Find a way to Seal up the hole in the webway on the golden throne, 2. Travel across the galaxy to find the many shards of the emperor’s mind in which we could maybe see glimpses of who he was before forming the imperium and perhaps even a few things during the great crusade that wasn’t mentioned before, and 3. Find a way to put all those shards of his mind back together so the Emperor can truly be back to full form.
Of course He can come back. He has the abilities of all his sons including Vulkan. And this dude regenerated from way worse injuries than the emperor currently has
What about some sort of light reflection of what created the Drukhari? The emperor ascends as the 5th chaos god of light, glory, and vengeance, and Terra is sucked into the warp in a new domain controlled by the Emperor with warp taint from emperor related warp exposure having an angelic aesthetic and vibe to it, but obviously twisted in some way.
Granted, this would fracture the imperium and totally recontextualize how humanity sees warp exposure, but man the ecclesiarchy would be sick as hell with actual angels in it.
So basically in the most horrific brutal and animalistic universe written....the power of friendship can bring the emperor back to life
The Inquisition wanting to revive the Emperor.

I think the Emperor truly putting himself together, not even talking standing up from the throne, but him having a truly concrete mind and being able to mobilize all his power as he wishes is probably something that will only happen if GW trult wishes to end 40K, or atleast, wishes to completely change it, maybe from grimdark to a noblebright, or even to an even darkergrim.
This would be the way to bring the Emperor back. Plot device him into being resurrected as a child and the remaining Primarchs have to co-parent and protect him as he grows up and comes to fully control his powers, made difficult because of the method of Resurrection. This makes it so that the Primarchs have to relay to the emperor what they understood hisplan to be, with the child emperor filling in gaps with commentary about how their perspective seems dumb and he accidentally reveals what the plan really was through being critical of what his prior self told his sons.
If there was ever anything that could unite multiple factions it would probably be the tyranid invasion once it gets bad enough. That right there would be an awesome idea for a warhammer game or TV show if you ask me.

The Emperor is currently holding the eternity gate closed. As it stands, reviving him may open the gate. There is also the issue of the astronomicon. Again, reviving the Emperor would inadvertently halt interstellar travel in the Imperium… not good. Until solutions to these two problems can be found then the Emperor is bound to the throne.
I believe up front everyone in the Imperium wants the Emperor to return, but in secret many prefer him to stay 'dead' as they know his reaction to seeing the modern imperium would be rough and that he would purge the shit out of the ecclesiarchy, administratum and inquisition
What if the emperor was just playing a massive prank this whole time and was just psychically making himself look like a corpse but hes just been chilling and watching what happens

If the Emperor would simply regenerate after his fight with Horus, then there would have been no reason to put him on the Throne to begin with. The Emperor communicated to Dorn what needed to be done, so it seems like probably he can't just regenerate if removed from the throne.
I think that the only way to revive him at this point (and it's something that I don't think GW would do unless they really started to lose money) would be for something like what Constantin Valdor is doing.
Day 51: What if Omegon returned to the setting. What would happen?, how would Guilliman and The Lion react?. Would be a pretty cool video idea.
Either the emperor will ascend as an immaterial being when his body is destroyed and by his power maintain humanity or his corporeal form will be epically restored, one version has more shock value the other sounds more epic. But I have no doubt even the corporeal E would have a big power up once awakening.
I’ve wondered for a while why the emperor hasn’t cloned himself and collected his soul fragments into that body. Then move his remaining soul from his current body to the clone body.
One of the critical flaws with that plan is: Would Vulcan be able restrain his urge to burn the Eldars to a crisp? That's basically his one flaw.
I think it's more likely that the spirit of the Emperor in the warp will seek to incarnate in a new body while the original (though physically restored and hypothetically capable of rising from his seat remains on the throne.

"The Atlas Infernal" is a 40k novel that details Inquisitor Czevak's idea to use Eldar tech. If the Avatar of Khaine can hold the energy of a god, why couldn't it be a mortal shell for the Emperor? He gets distracted by Ahriman being Ahriman, but dude is one of three humans to ever see the Black Library. So, worth checking out for another 'how to make Big E come back'.

I believe the best scenario is the emperor is allowed to regenerate while on the throne, as his body regrows, he retains his current power but slowly rebuilds his mind, would be a good set up for like warhammer 50k or something
Counterpoint, A fully resurrected Big E would still have a soul to be worshipped and since warp stuff is almost always the target of souls, I imagine a flesh and blood Emperor would retain the power of being worshipped as a God even if he didn’t like it. Since the Abstract concept of the Emperor is still present worst case scenario a warp creature is manifested the instant he’s brought back. And that warp creature is the concept of the Imperial Cult
Perhaps they find a way to fuse the living and returned primarchs essences into the big-Es corpse. The massive amounts of Warp energy produced might not fully heal the big guy but it can definitely start the “healing process”
This reminds me, didn't Russ go into the Eye of Terror to try and find a way to restore the Emperor? I might be wrong, or it might be old lore, but seeing a video about Russ and what happened to him would be interesting
As i see it the Emperor cannot be allowed the ressurect or die fully since i believe he would become something akin to a Chaos God

Whats interesting is that The Emperor is more powerful now than ever before. i believe the book Godblight hints that due to the souls who worship him, they have turned him into an actual god and made his power in the immaterium stronger than he ever was.
What narative beat is an escalation after the final loyalist primarch returns?
After ALL of his sons are returned to terra, big E will be resurected by his sons using what they each have learned in their own returns. Ferrus will be returned to flesh as Malcador said would be possible with enough time and effort, and then Sanguinius will be returned as the final herald of the return of THE GOD EMPEROR OF MANKIND.
It makes good points in the end and the death vol 3 why the emperor maybe isn’t healing as badly - I paraphrase but Horus killed centuries and veld centuries out of him.
This much damage no doubt is slowing down his regeneration
They need to keep him alive for the Astronomicon.
Meanwhile literally every other species in the setting with FTL travel doesn't need the Astronomicon.
With what we know about the starchild in the current lore, my guess is that it is possible to resurrect big e, but if it is without the starchild, it would not be the emperor who we know from before. We saw the current state of the emperor during the talk he had with the girly man. If that version of big e is brought back it could be a disaster.
