personally, I open all my castings, I want to play with it, feel it, and enjoy it, premium, basic, vintage, does it matter, all my castings are loose, and half play where, really enjoyed your video
Ah yes, this is the eternal question....isn’t it? Good thoughts for collectors to think about, great vid. Personally, I open everything so that I’m not tempted to buy pieces that I think MIGHT be valuable in the future. My motto is to buy only what I like and then open it. There’s so much joy in actually feeling the car in hand sometimes....ya know? -David
I mean you're not wrong cuz the Bugatti casting from 2020 went up to like $40 now so I mean that one technically went up 400%. I mean in my opinion if you know it's only collectible don't open it but if it's the mainline you really like just open it. I will say I did open a lot of my collectible cars do overtime but doesn't really matter anymore cuz I know I ain't going to sell them.
After 2 years i remember this video so i decide to watch again. I love your passion, lot of RUclipsrs can't feel good about this hobby anymore but they should create a video anyway but your videos feel different thanks!
Awesome video! As a woman collector also, I appreciate your honest reviews as you take time to go over small details too and really just enjoy the cars. Thank you.
That's why I buy three if I like a design. One gets freed and the other two are backups. But even though the two in the package remain new, I find that the one I love most is the one that I take out and carry in my handbag or backpack. The paint chips are love marks. It reminds me that that one and I have shared times both good, bad exciting, boring. Life.
Honestly so true dude I love the Dodge Challenger demon so I have four of them one in my car and three in the collection. I agree man something about just having them with you with all the paint Marks overtime just looks so cool.
I've read a comment on a video before goes along the line saying "I don't wanna wait my whole life not opening it and have someone else take or buy it from me and have the satisfaction of opening it" i then started opening some of my hotwheels and boi does it feel good
Truly, I think there is value in play. Those common, mass-produced cars should be played with. The only collector cars that will maintain value are those limited edition cars. They sell out quickly. I think super treasure hunts are way over-valued. I think collectors push the price up quickly when they come out. Then they will decrease in value and level out to a point where played with cars will be worth just a little less than those in cards. The other collectible part that I find value in are the cards themselves. Some of the cards have fantastic artwork. Especially the cards that come from comic book characters. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Happy hunting.
As a kid, I used to play with hotwheels all the time. Opening them I feel like it completes that nostalgia factor of wanting to play with them. Just recently I started collecting them again. I just got myself a Porsche Hotwheels Premium Collectors car and I have to say, I actually enjoy the car more when it is outside of its packaging. It feels real nice in the hands and it reminds me of Akira Nakai when he decided to modify Porsche. Sure they are nice cars when stock but you get more attached to the car when you make it your own and that is what it feels like to open a hotwheel you really enjoy. You make it yours!
This is a question that's been plaguing collectors for a long time! I've seen a recent video from Mike Zarnok, the Hot Wheels historian, he says that it's up to you to decide if you want to open or leave your Hot Wheels in their packs, some of the premium cars, like the Fast & Furious, Super Treasure Hunts and Team Transports have real rubber wheels and amazing paint jobs, these would be some that I would leave in their box, as for the mainline cars, they are not worth that much in or out of package because they make sooo many of the same cars. I now have over 700 Hot Wheels in my collection, 98% of them I left in their package, but I did get a few doubles of the ones that I like the most, like the COPO Chevy Camaro and a few more, but space can become a factor in how many Hot Wheels you collect, I would hate having doubles of EVERY car in my collection because of my limited space, so in all, it's up to every collector to decide what they want! Really enjoying your videos!
Nice cars! Hotwheels makes some nice castings, but one of the big reasons I stick with Tomica is the ability to put the car back in the box afterward ;)
Just found your channel and found it very interesting and unique. Subscribed immediately and will spend some time watching all your videos in the coming days.
I enjoy opening and customizing mine and sharing the process on my channel. Of course, my eyes are bigger than my workbench and I'll never finish all the cars I have. But the ones I haven't done yet I leave open for my daughter to play with. She loves them. Thanks for sharing your process!
I was thinking about starting colecting hotwheels for a few weeks already and yesterday i got my first one. I just opened it with nail polisher like you showed in the video. :)
Mike Zarnock also says. What ever makes you Happy. I am like you I do both. But yes if it has value or potential for future value I keep it in its original container. I Love collecting Muscle cars. Especially 1957 Chevy's. Great Video. New Fan of your channel. 👍❤️
Personally, i don't open ny hotwheels because the value decreases and too much responsibility keeping the car when loose, faces too much issues. A follower since you started, I would love to have a hotwheels from you please. thanks❤😂
I like to buy 3 of the premiums of cars I really like - 1 to open, 2 to keep carded. Really great content, I'm really enjoying your videos. Please keep doing them : )
I really just got started like a couple days ago. Im a coin collector so i understand the hobby. Im still learning tho and trying to figure out where to go and how to identify things.
You may want to remove the rubber bands from the HW Rauh-Welt RWB Porsche (on the doors and bonnet/hood/rear end) because the rubber bands will in time destroy the paint. The rubber bands have some sort of corrosive effect and damage the paint over longer time. So if I was you I would open the box, remove the rubber band then place the car in the box again, and use it as a display case. Do have a lot of Hot Wheels in Germany? Because we don’t have many here in Denmark. I basically have to order all my HW cars online via eBay - premium as well as basic lines. I mainly collect only Premium lines from HW, because I don’t have a lot of room in my apartment. And I display them in a glass door cabinet hanging on the wall in my living room. And I also store unopened cars in the original packaging - especially the one I have two of.
I have hundreds of hot wheels and matchbox and red liner from the 1960s 70s and 80s and I was wondering how I can get someone to buy them they’re not in boxes they are in excellent condition.
Just open them! There’s thousands made. Even if you want to sell off the collection later, chances are you won’t get rich either way. Enjoy them for what they are. Just my opinion.
Wow, cool video..yes I agree it neater to keep them in the box for storage and if you have some that are going to increase in value in the future..but you have to take them out of the packaging to touch, feel , and enjoy them..great video..
Fantastic video !! I usually open cars that I have doubles of :) I recently found this years STH GTR !! I was so excited to find that one :) I will not be opening that one :) I like to open the metal/metal real riders as well. Race On !!
For a girl who love cars you are very knowledgeable in preservation of your diecast. Yes I open and add.to my collection and many stay carded very interesting
Cut the rubber band that keeps the rear deck lid down on your RWB. Eventually, the rubber band will harm the finish on the car. Love your videos, thank you!
Ante's Vlogs - Debatable. Collectors value things differently. I have 4 of them. Two are still in the FedEx Sure Post shipping box as sent out by Mattel and the other two have been opened with the rubber bands removed.
Had to open my first Car Culture collectible(Alfa Romeo from Door Slammers) because it was my first time owning a car that special(also due to the rubber tires). Love that thing, it was perfectly detailed.
How does the nail polish remover work on older HWs? I have some HWs from 1995 to 97 that I want to open but also want to keep the cards with minimal damage so I'm curious. Have you opened older HWs this way with the nail polish remover?
Again a very nice and tacticle video :) The biggest differences about the mainline Jaguar and premium one will be that usually on the premium the head and tailights will be all set, regardless of any other tampo it has. Mainlines usally have head/tailights set only when there are no other side/top tampos. Other than that, premium has "real riders" (rubber) wheels and its bottom is also made from metal (mainline are usually have metal bodies / plastic on bottom, some track cars are plastic on the body & metal bottom). Also, as the premium is much more a miniature than a toy, my bet is that the mainline one will fare much better n the orange track. But it's always fun to test it out :) Cheers!
I open all no matter what. I like to constantly take out of my display case and put them in dioramas a have lol and when I get one that I'd like to switch out for one I have in my display case I've never have a problem selling it for my I've purchased for even open
Look on the card the big one's are premium meaning metal base metal body and full tampos .I open the one's that I won't trade or sell or I get two. There are plenty of cars that are extra collectible but if you love it and want to keep it open it! That's my opinion. But I do cut the plastic carefully so I can display it in the card and take it out when ever I like. Thanks.

If I see something I want to open I'll purchase multiples, if possible, to keep one closed. The cars on the larger cards, like the blue Jaguar and the JH3 cars you have, are premiums. They have higher quality paint, decals, rubber tires on rims not plastic wheels & metal bases, not plastic bases. WOW! You're finding stuff that I'm having great difficulty finding, congrats. My ideas by doubles so you can have one open up and wonder display it's worked for me for a long time is with the high dollar units you know had a market for it so that's my procedure and I got over 50000 cars

My question to people who keep them for value is : are you going to sell them down the road?
