I’ve always just put a bit of cold butter and a splash of cream in my boiled potatoes, then mash. They always end up being a little disappointing. I’ll be trying out your method of melted butter, and infused, heated cream for Christmas dinner. I’m excited! Thank you!

to save on pans needing to be washed I put my cooked potatos in the strainer and cover with a teatowel to collect the steam and use the same pot to warm the milk through and I ass the butter to the milk to melt, then I add the potatos back in and getle mash then use a fork to finish. comes out lovely.

I never thought of adding garlic or rosemary to my potatoes. That sounds delicious. I noticed when you were peeling your potatoes, you used a paring knife just like my mother used. She tried teaching me to peel with it, but she said I took too much potato! LoL...I just stuck with the good ol' potato peeler.

This is how I was taught. In my first apartment my roommate said she made us dinner with mashed potatoes. I took a bite of potatoes and was shocked ask what kind were they she said normal lol they were instant and I had never had before. It was funny. I felt bad but she understood once she had the real ones. She was so sweet.

Pam! Thank you so much for this video! I needed help desperately in the mashed potato department! I have been cooking for 51 years and have never learned how to make mashed potatoes right. Whenever I have made them in the past, I always had to apologize to those I was cooking for. They tasted great, but my potatoes were always more like paste than potatoes. I’d tell my guests … just cover them up with gravy and you’ll hardly even notice. NOT! Just awful! Well today, I followed your directions to the tee, and guess what!!?? I did it! Thank you! No more instant potatoes for this girl! Yay!❤

When I make this for company, I scoop it into a pastry bag and pipe the potatoes into a nice round design. In a big serving bowl or individual servings onto a parchment paper sheet, then bake until golden brown. They will be hot when serving them onto the plates before serving them. Sometimes I serve individual plates or family style.

I will have to try this. I never warmed my milk you said you used cream I just use regular vitamin d milk. When I do mine I strain them and add about 1/4 cup of milk and half stick of butter (sometimes i will add a tbsp or 2 of sour cream) and they don't turn gummy luckily but I never have cooked the extra water off them before or warmed my milk and butter. So I will have to try it out! Thank you so much for sharing your tips and tricks!
