    Holy hell! You put a lot of effort into this restoration of a simple old keyboard, especially the part at the end where the parts were moving towards the keyboard. That was a great edit. I really appreciate that you did not let it go to waste, even if it wasn't something super expensive. Now instead of it going into the trash you've given it a new life!

      Exactly that. There are to many e-waste out there and they only need some good cleaning. I still have this keyboard wrapped in a plastic bag, it's still in mint condition. 🙂

    How to remove buttons carefully is skipped, sometimes you can break button hook so later it won't stick to keyboard.

    Hello, my right arrow key and couple more are not working, I cleaned it, I even attached a strand of copper wire to a trace of my broken key thinking to fix it but it fixed and all the others had problems now....so I removed the wire and cleaned thoroughly to just bring back my already working keys..please advise

      What happen that the arrow keys stop working?

    • @NHbinaaa111
      @NHbinaaa111 3 года назад +1

      @@repairspace9400 um actually something weird happened. So basically my father stuck some clear kitchen film on it to protect it from dust..he didn't use it all summer and it somehow got moisture in it. But even after that, the arrow keys were working. Some other keys weren't but they got back to normal but suddenly arrow keys stopped working..

    Nice work. I usually skip the toothbrush phase on the keys and let the detergent work for a while, removing any remaining crud after the final rinse with a bit more intense drying using paper towels or a microfiber. I'll probably buy a couple of these next week, used. I don't like the keyboards that come with cheap cases. Mice and speakers work okay-ish, but those keyboards... ugh.

      Yes you're right, it can be done without a toothbrush but for whatever reason I like to watch the speed up cleaning with the toothbrush. :-)

    i have the same one...is this membrane or mechanical keyboard?

    • @repairspace9400
      @repairspace9400  3 года назад +1

      Its a membrane keyboard, you can see that big semi transparent rubber thing, that's a membrane, you lose that clicky sound when that rubber is underneath.

      @@repairspace9400 im just surprised that a membrane keyboard has survived for more than 16 years with us...i thought only mechanical keyboard are that durable

      Than you were taking a good care of your keyboard. I have membrane keyboards from the late 90s and still working great. Its like the older they are the durable they become.

      @@repairspace9400 It's almost like most companies cheap out on manufacturing rather than delivering a quality product because they know that if it breaks sooner their customer will have to buy a new one, and they'll probably just go back to the same brand out of habit.
