Also, latest doesn’t also mean greatest should be a new series from you. I know you love your retro Apple products and I think you would be a great person to push that series forward. So many people in the tech world don’t want to pay for the most new releases, a lot of people can’t afford it, and you making the case that that’s OK is a very important thing to say.

Mostly since I already have a S5, just a basic one so the celular makes it a tiny upgrade, but yeah thanks for the video really great! Now can’t wait for it to get here!

Got myself a really sweet deal on a refurbished Apple Watch Series 7 in graphite stainless steel a few months ago, and I love it. Probably the best Apple Watch I've owned by far. The series 8 didn't really do it for me last year when it came to the features. And honestly, I really thought that the series 8 was going to get the redesign, which was why I had held off on the series 7 for over a year. "Latest doesn't always mean greatest" are the words that I definitely take to heart when it comes to tech, especially Apple tech in particular. Excellent video as always, Isaac.

Got an Open Box Stainless Steel Silver Series 5 40mm for $320 6 months ago, and I love this thing. The AOD is amazing, and the design is gorgeous. Stainless Silver is legit soooo gorgeous. And switching between Milanese Loop band and a Brown Leather Band is just so much fun.
Hey Isaac, This video came at a wonderful time for me! I am still rocking an iPhone XS that is working perfectly even with iOS 15.2. I keep getting tempted to upgrade, but can’t find a logical reason to. So your philosophy is really hitting me in the right place! Would love to hear about what gear you use for running in the cold weather; I’ve been running for a couple years but went treadmill during the last couple winters. I have done a couple runs this year in standard sweatshirt and sweatpants; the run itself has been refreshing, but I think my gear game could improve! Love your work, keep up the amazing videos!
No way! After rocking the new larger screens, the old 44mm screens file like the 40mm watches. Everything looks so small. I could never downgrade to the 44m screens any more.
Everything old is new again. Love the mentality of using old Apple Watches honestly. Even for older models their OS being left behind sorta makes them a watch OS Time Capsule, and that’s pretty nifty in its own right imo.

If you really wanna detach get a series 7 just because of the keyboard. Texting on the old watches either wasn’t private ( speech to text) or too frustrating and slow to mess with (scribble) So I never left my phone because I dreaded texting on Apple Watch.

I always wanted the original ceramic when it first launched, I couldn’t afford it back then. I saved and the series 5 was my big splurge. It still has 95 battery health and I have not babied it and it looks great. I’ve been tempted to sell it and get a 7 for the health stuff, but I’m not in love with the selections. Maybe the 8 will have ceramic again! Hope you got the yellow leather band with it!!!!
Cool, but in my opinion the Series 2 or 3 white ceramic editions cases looks much better designed with the original apple bands, if you choose for form above function... from series 4 and above the watch cases looks too bold/big in comparison with the same original bands, especially with 44mm/45mm cases. Enjoy your series 5 edition sir!

Nice video! I did this a few months back but with a series 3 in ceramic. Just wanted ceramic. Maybe in a few years I’ll upgrade it to a 5 but it scratches my itch for now. I am a band a holic and I do disagree with you about the bands. I do not think all bands look good with the ceramic. I really only think primarily white bands go good with it. Still you’re giving great advice here about buying older watches. There is absolutely no way I’d ever pay full retail for any Apple Watch. They are just so much closer to their value second hand.
I’ve had a series 4 for 3 years now and love it for running and health tracking, but I wanted a watch that was more fashionable that I could use when I’m not working out. So I just picked up the series 2 ceramic like Patrick for $150. Excited to have two watched for different purposes that cost only $500 total. If you’re willing to buy previous models there is so much value to be had.

I think you've made a really good point here. Buy whoever you want, and buying second-hand technology that's been kept well helps with the environment as well, and will probably get you good tech for a couple of years. Great videos!

i love my watch, i am in high school and i don’t use my iphone at school or anywhere really, I use the Apple Watch se with cellular and that’s my phone, it helps me not be so addicted to my phone and it’s awesome. At home i use my M1 iPad Pro.
you should really consider buying your next apple watch in China because you can swap the frame of your watch to almost any material apple provides (titanium, stainless steel, ceramic). im not sure if they have managed to design a ceramic frame for the series 7, but they have made a ceramic frame for the series 6 and you can swap them for a REALLY low price

Will Apple or certified repair change the battery? As long as the battery can be replaced when it dies, you can keep a Apple Watch for years.
