• Match Your Monitors: T...
PLEASE NOTE that i make a mistake which is corrected later on in the video but when inputting the 1440p resolution it should be 2560X1440 not as say 1st 2160X1440
have you got 2 monitors with different resolutions (eg. 1440p+1080p ) ???
then follow my simple guide to get the screens to match in size within the windows framework . So when you cross between the monitors everything matches up .

Thank you! Been using two different monitor resolutions for a year and did not think there was a work around. You are the man!
I am about to purchase a 1440p 27 inch to pair with my current 1080p 27 inch and I'm glad I found this video to ease my concern.
Thank you
Thank you! I have been looking for a fix to this issue for weeks. I appreciate you taking the time to share this.
Excellent video, thank you so much for posting this. Had spent what seemed like an eternity searching for an answer to this particular issue, all to no avail... up until watching this most helpful solution. Most grateful for this illustration, cheers! :-) .
Thank you so much! That did the trick nicely!! You are very concise and straight forward with your explanations which made it very easy to follow along. Thanks again!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Just bought a 4k monitor and was having issues aligning it with my 3 1080s, video saved me a whole lof of trouble. Thank you very much!
Really helpful you got straight to the point. Defenetly one of the best tutorials Ive seen. Thumbs up keep it up.
Good Tutorial,
In Windows 11 I had to set my resolution in the Display settings not Nvidia Control Panel. (FullHD Display at 4k resolution)
Don't forget to scale up the lower resolution monitor to 175-200% to avoid having to use a microscope (I have 175% scaling in the display settings)
Great tutorial. I wanted to get a dual set with two different resolution monitor and was wondering if it was possible and after watching this video, thanks to you! I am able to safely purchase a higher resolution then my current 1080p monitor. Thank you for all the effort. I couldn't find any other resource to learn this trick.
Thank you for your kind comment . glad to be of help.
Amazing, many thanks! this is just what I was looking for
No probs glad it helped
Thankyou for this, had a new laptop for work today, had to combine a 2x 1440 displays with a 1080p. Much appreciated!
Thank you! I was searching for this for 1 hour
Yes! I have been struggling with this for years. I'm glad I found this video.
With your video, you solved a problem I´ve been dealing with for years. Should have checked RUclips way earlier. Thank you so much, you saved my day!!!
Thank you for your kind comments . Happy gaming and productivity to you !!
Thanks this just save me from a new setup to have my screens aligned
Hope you have a wonderful Year :D
Wonderful tutorial. I was searching online for so long and couldn't find a single tip or trick that fit my situation. Luckily, I came across this video and your solution has worked perfectly. Thank you!
Excellent I'm glad it helped you 🙂
Thank you very much. It really helped me. I had this problem for weeks and it was annoying! Thanks!
Just exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much for making this video. I never would have figured it out.
You're welcome! 😁
Thank you for this.
i have a 1440p@165 and 3x 1080p@60 monitors and i want the 1440p and one of the 1080p to be cloned. but i want the 1440p (main monitor) to be at max resolution/hz
this worked for me, i am now pushing a 1440p@165hz signal out to main monitor and downsample it to 1080p@60hz for the monitor. ive been searching for over a week for solutions either hardware or software and this was spot on!
Thank you so much mate I was trying to figure this out for ages
amazing video video man years worth of trouble fixed in mere moments great work!
Good video, thanks for posting this because this was really helpful, I have two different sized monitors with the same resolution and I was able to solve the resolution problem by using the same principle here.
Thanks mate, sorted my issue that would change my game resolution on my 1440 moniter to 1080 every time it was turned off. Much appreciated !!!!!
No problems , Glad to be of help.
This is an absolutely amazing video!! Thank you so much!!
Liked and subbed!! :)
cheers for the great feedback and glad it helped you out !!!
Best tutorial so far!! Congrats
Great video lad! exactly what I needed!
This answered not only my first question, but the second as well!! Thank you
Worked like a charm, thanks!
Low tech high quality! Thanks, appreciate your help getting my stuff to line up and make me less crazy!
Worked like a charm. Thanks for this vid!! Cheers.
For anyone struggling with this using an AMD GPU, go to the AMD software > gaming > display > select the lower resolution monitor > enable "virtual super resolution" > then change the resolution of the display in windows settings. Unfortunately you cannot set a custom resolution higher than native in AMD software, or at least I couldn't.
hey i fucking love you
u the man
Bro you're the one
Super clutch
I wish you health and love in your life. Thank you
Fantastic. Thanks for making this video...I was really stumped until I came across this gem. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
This is what I was looking for thanks no one else said anything about this and this is what I was looking for
No probs glad to help.
Bro what a life saver thank you so much, this is the only video that actually explained the problem I was having! Thank you
This is awesome thank you. Exactly what I needed.
Glad to be of help.
YOU ARE A LIFESAVER AND DESERVE SO SO MANY MORE SUBS
You did a great job 👏
Mate thanks so much for this video, it made what looked like a very complicated problem pretty simple so thanks. Had a minor quibble after i changed the resolution but I just restarted my PC and it was resolved. Maybe you should add some sort of "warning" in the video when you accidently put the wrong mesurments for 1440p? Just so people don't get confused when they end up getting a weird looking screen, but anyways thanks again
Yes you're right I did correct my mistake later in the vid. But as always some people don't watch all the vid . When I get a chance I'll change the description to point that out. It's a shame that YT doesn't let you reedit a video after it's been uploaded.
Easy fix, great video. Thanks!
very helpful, thank you so much for making this
Yes, I have come across this problem. You're a champ, it's exactly what I needed. I'm impressed, give this guy a thumbs up y'all!
Thank you your to kind .
You helped me the way you cant even imagine. Thank you so so much ❤
No thank you for your really kind words . 😺👍
This is Great! I am so happy I came across this tutorial because this is what im dealing with rn
this was a great help thanks
You saved my life! Thank you so much for this.
Wonderfull video. I have a 4k and a 1080p Monitor, as you can imagine this "resolution Wall " is huge. Thanks for the help :)
same
You saved me! I wish I could Thumbs-Up this video a thousand times. Thank you so much!
helped me alot! Thank you!!!
thank you, your the only person who knew the trouble iv had for years lol. you've earned this like and sub. thank you
thanks that means alot .
Thank god i came across this video as this is one of my biggest concerns eith buying a 2nd monitor. I too have a 27" 1440p main and is looking to buy a 2nd one for productivity but is trying to see if I should cut some costs and not buy the exact same thing I already have. A question - is there anything else you think I should consider or something you personally are missing with your current setup that makes you wish you had 2 27" 1440p's?
No regrets . Especially for productivity. If you do do a bit of gaming then remember to use your 1440 p monitor as your primary.
Really appreciate this. Saved me a lot of time and trouble.
Glad it helped .👍
THANKS!!! Could not find a solution for this problem!
thank you very much for the solution. exactly what i needed.
Just bought a new monitor and was bashing my head into a wall trying to figure this out you helped out so much thanks
Glad it helped you out and thank you for your kind comment ! hope you enjoying your new monitor .
Dude, that's awesome.
YOU ARE THE BEST
thank you so much for making this video
Thank you for this video.
if this doesn't work for you and it forces it back to 1080p make sure you do all the steps correctly then go to the display settings in windows and manually select 1440p on the 1080p monitor
thank you so much bro
Bro I did everything in the video and this extra step you provided was everything I needed!! Thank you!!
AMAZING THANK YOU!
thank you ! great explenation
Thank you for the help.
It works for me
omg thanks so much this is awesome just what I needed!
Glad it helped 👍
If you scale back up to 150% without changing the resolution, the quality should improve but the apps would be bigger as well
Dude, UR AMAZING!!! Finally a fix. Just one question if u know the answer, does this make the gpu work harder (temps/frames)? (running 3 monitors, main is a 4k and the side 2 are 1080p)
It does have a very small impact on the GPU . I would say if your playing games don't expect to see any difference in frame rates . The only downside I've found that when trying to play games on the 2nd screen I get a choppy framerate so if you are gaming then use the main native resolution screen as your gaming monitor. For you that would be the middle 4k monitor.
@@cheapskate101 ok thank u so much! i only game on the main 4k monitor anyways, the side 2 are just for utube and discord, etc. thanks again so i dont have to worry since gpus are still pretty pricey.
Excellent stuff!
thank you Rich !
Thanks, This is what i was searching for.
Love from India
Namaste 🙏
this is great thanks for the help! I have a 32 4k next to a 27 1080 and its been driving me nuts. theres now only a tiny difference but i bet theres a work around to adjust to the size differences.
Great news I'm glad it helped ,
(you can skip to the end of this comment to get the answer after the dots .....) So there is a workaround using scaling so u need to work out how many Dots Per Inch your monitors are so 2160 / 32 = 67.5 pixels per diagonal inch and the 1080 / 27 = 40 pixels per inch so the ratio is 67.5 / 40 = 1.6875 x 100 = a scale of 168.75 % so the closest windows scale would be 175% not perfect but close . but this without the prior scaling method in my video Now assuming you have scaled to 4k for both monitors then the scale factor would be 2160/32 =67.5 and 2160/27 = 80 ( fake or scaled DPI ) so using same method we get 80/67.5 x100 = 118.52% ................................................................ so Scale the 27 inch monitor to 125% by right clicking on the desktop and going to the display settings and select 125% in the " change the size text , apps and other items " BOX . you can select the Advced option and scale it to 119% for a very close result ( But text might look a bit blurry try it to see )
Nice video, thank you. I have a bit of a dog's breakfast with a 1080x1200 , 2560x1440, 2560x2160 .. two different aspects. I can't let go of the old 16:10 Asus ProArt.. color and contrast are so great. I will keep looking into this.
This guy... Thank you man!
Will this put more stress on the graphics card while playing games on the 1080 monitor? I was going to get a high refresh monitor to go next to my 1440 one.
Thanks a lot for your video
You are most welcome
Thanks Skate, this is amazing tutorial, what will happen if i change high definition monitor from 2560*1440 to 1920*1080?
Love you man
Thank you!
great help
thank you sm!
For Adrenalin software (AMD GPUs) all you need to do is enable "Virtual Super Resolution"
You’re a hero =)
Does this affect performance in demanding apps? My main monitor is a 1080p 144Hz monitor for gaming and the monitor I'm pairing it with is 1440p at 60hz, and I feel like running at 4k will affect performance drastically
thank you man
Really helpful. It wouldn't let me use my second monitor at the default refresh rate. I had to lower it from 75hz to 60hz for it to work.
It can be a tricky to match the correct working frame rates sometimes. 60 or 120 ( for higher frame rate TVs and monitors ) seems to be the standard . Im glad to hear it worked for you .
Thank you it was not taking at 75hz and i was losing my mind
You are amazing! thank You!!!
Thanks for the great feedback. Glad I was able to help.
U just saved me alot of headache :)
Nice thank you so much
Life saver!
very helpful video! a question tho, im looking in to buying a second monitor, my current one is 27" 1920x1080 with 240 hz, if i buy the new one this would work as my extra monitor for discord and etc. the new one is 34" 3440x1440 and 165hz, just knowing the specs on the monitors, would this be a could fit? my dad is very concerned on the resolution difference, as he believe it can hurt your eyes, as they need to keep adjusting between screens
So is the new monitor a ultra wide because thats a unusual pixel count 3440 X 1440 ???
Very helpful
thank you . and a Merry Christmas to you
bro big thank you i've been struggeling with this shit for daysss ty so much btw if it doesnt work first or second try keep trying after some tryies it wil work
this worked for me as well but the issue im having is the blurry text on the 1080p monitor. have you come across the same issue?
Not really. There is going to be a slight quality difference as the main screen has a higher native resolution but it shouldn't stand out or be to obvious unless you look for it . I can see a difference in sharpness between the 2 monitors but the text is not unreasonable. Ps I tend to use dark mode in most of my apps so maybe that helps ??
Blurry text goes away by changing refresh rate
@@KKMaity would you ming leeting me know what refresh rate you put on the secondary moniter? i have a 60 hz refresh rate
THX YOU SUCH MUCH MY MAN, LOVE YOU XOXO
Thanks dude
Thanks bro, I know nvidia has some type of preset for this but it always looked a bit blurry. Now it doesn't and it fits well finally....
Thanks for the kind comments 👍glad it helped 👍
Excellent video. Unfortunately, after I create my customized resoluction it wont show in the Custom section (actually there is no Custom section). I don't know how to solve this, maybe here is experiencing the same problem?
Why is there no customise button for me?
Damn thanks so much!
No probs glad it helped you 🙂
I have 3 monitors, but it's a physically smaller 1080p portrait on the left (same physical height as the big one if you rotate to portrait) , a big 1080p landscape in the middle, and then another smaller one at 1200x1920 on the right (same height as the big one when you rotate it to portrait.) So I can't figure out how to get this working properly... If I supersample the main screen's verticle up to 1920 and then set the horizontal to it's native 1920, then it gives me a 1:1 aspect ratio with giant black bars/bezels on the left and right. But I can't make the horizontal bigger because then I'm just at the same problem I started with except even worse.
Hmm gonna have to try this. Been using a 4k TV for my monitor for awhile now and recently dug out two old 1080p TVs for a triple setup and it's really annoying that things don't line up. Thanks
hope it works well for you bud .
did it work!
I have two of the same sized monitors but one is 2560x1440 and the other is 4K at 3840x2160. This trick works for me to align the mouse between the displays but two issues:
1. Even after upping the 1440 monitor to the custom 4k resolution to match the other one, and changing the scale to 150% to make it look more normal, some text on certain programs is still a little fuzzy/less sharp than normal
2. No matter what I try, the Nvidia display settings will not let me set a 165hz refresh rate in the custom resolution for the up-res'd 1440 monitor - it will only let me set it to 60hz, and that is a deal breaker since the monitor is an Acer Predator gaming monitor with 165hz - don't want to have to disable that.
Sucks. I would use LittleBigMouse but for years I have constant issues with it either not enabling at boot or it crashes and doesn't apply the settings until you start the program again manually and apply - it's awful and the dev never fixes the issues for all cases.
I'm gonna guess that the 4k monitor is a 60hz monitor. Hence here lies the issue that the display port or HDMI ports on the GPU or monitor are not high enough to support 4k at high refresh rates. The only true solution here is to downscale the 4k monitor to match the 1440p monitor and the issue here would be that the 4k monitor would be hardware limited to 60fps . Essentially the GPU may not support 4k at high refresh rates.
Thank you so much this has been annoying me for months omg thank you
Glad it Helped 😁
Would it then be also requiring the 1440p power to run the 1080 screen at 144hz? I am considering adding second screen to the 4k 60hz one I have but i see that high hz 4k screens are expensive and need newer gpus to even feed them beyond 60 hz, so I am considering the second one to be 1440p with 120-144hz. Easier to feed it and get more fps, but then if it scales weirdly or still requires the 4k/144hz power to run, it might not be the best idea either. :/
so 4k AAA gaming is gonna run your GPU hard especially on anything lower than a RTX4070 or equivalent card . But remember that most games you can choose what resolution to run the game at from inside the game options !! For instance if i run the Witcher 3 with RT effects+ high settings on, then i ask the game to run at a 1080p resolution to get it to 60fps , But if i run an older 3d title say Half life 2 then id run that at higher 1440p at 144hz . My advice is to have your best monitor as your exclusive gaming monitor ! So for me i have a 1440p 144hz monitor as my main gaming screen and the other monitor that's to the side the 1080p 144 hz ( that i scale to 14440p ) i use for production and running other apps and not for running games on it . If i am running a very intensive game on 1440p main gaming monitor i will sometimes just switch off the other monitors to allow the GPU to give all its processing power to that one game .
So I've got a 1080p 240hz monitor that i love for pc gaming. I want to get a 1440p as a secondary/console monitor. Can i still run the 1080 @ 240hz as well as the 1440p @ 120-140hz and still fix the issue?
