  • Can you match multiple displays in a calibration, the answer is not quite as simple. The short answer is that it could be done, but the reality is that it is extremely difficult as I will outline and share in this video. The only program that has the function for this, that is easily attained is Spyder Elite software, other calibration program does not even offer up this function that is because this act pushes the icc profile to the limit which can cause digital posterization, crush white or black, banding and etc. This video will also give advise on what to do in this situation as well.

    Thank you for your insights into this tricky matter. Apart from the reasons you mentioned, I guess it is also helpful to think about color spaces used. For example, correct me if I am wrong, the MacBook Pro 16" display is optimized for P3 while the BenQ 270c for Adobe RGB. So depending on your output color space you might even want to have two separately calibrated displays. As one performs better than the other in the respective color space. I have both and there certainly is a difference in the color gamut of the channels.

    Hi, thanks for the video, is there any real point in doing the manual RGB adjustment directly on the screen using the software? Is it in addition to a calibration? Or is it two separate things? Because on some screen review sites, you can see that the post-calibration tests show an ICC profile + a modified RGB setting in the OSD of the screen. By the way, you enabled it in your video but in the end you didn't make the adjustment?

    • @ArtIsRight
      @ArtIsRight  2 года назад

      This is to demo the idea only, you can follow this guide, ruclips.net/video/kSGVS3pSxV8/видео.html for Pro display, you don't really have to do this. For non pro / gaming / entertainment display, RGB many times yield better results but that is not a given either. Always best to test. Also I am unable to comment on the site, but if one should RGB adjust it has to be part of the calibration process. Since most of the pro displays are calibrated the proper color mode already, it probably won't make too much difference, aka, I don't do it on BenQ PD line displays that I use and test.

    I am watching this video because my monitor (an LG ultrawide screen) renders a colder color to my Omen Laptop which leans more towards a greenish tint. When I view the same content on my phone (which is the final destination of the content), it matches my laptop more closely. From what you said, the conclusion is to leave things as is but I'm not sure that solves my issue.

    I have been talking to many PC builder youtubers and they recommend not to use Corsair iCUE software for Controlling PC RGB LED light. It's effecting Hardware Monitor Calibration in BenQ SW monitors. iCUE software has this display RGB light control SDK thing (it's for gaming monitor with RGB lighting like Asus). I use Ashampoo Uninstaller Pro to completely remove it from drive and registry. Also double check registry in PC with Corsair / iCUE leftover (just deleting it). Corsair build pc will definitely face this issue. Now everything is fine after ASUS Aura is default.

      There are lots variables there. First are the from the same batch of manufacturing? This would be difficult to pin point, however, you might be able to look at the tag on the back and may get an idea for this. i.e. manufacture in the same month/year. Buying 2 of them at the same time is not good enough, batches / inventory can mismatch. That would be the 1st question. I would then check are they running on the same color mode and are the settings similar. Then I would look at the connection that you are using. You mentioned laptop, so chances are one is connected via HDMI and the other is something else. This is one of the key item as well, you want to use the same type of connector, one thing to note is that USB C uses Display Port Overlay and will output signal similar to Display Port, full or mini. HDMI on the other hand can be problematic. So I would start by checking these.

      At this point in time M1 displays can't be calibrated, watch ruclips.net/video/KXIKRLLVCw4/видео.html & ruclips.net/video/NVi0YdAB2M0/видео.html But with this said there are a few incorrect assumptions and misunderstanding that I like to clear up before we have this conversation. 1. All Apple Displays are calibrated with DCI-P3 color gamut, as far as percentage coverage we don't really know because Apple really don't publish this number. None of Apple displays are sRGB. Apple DCI-P3 Calibration is a tweaked DCI-P3 and not strictly along the gamut specification. If you want to match the uncalibrated Macbook Pro then M-Book color mode is the one you want to use. If you want to match a calibrated MacBook Pro then I would use DCI-P3 as the RGB Primary in PME, although this won't really match entirely either. Because PME uses standard DCI-P3 gamut spec in calibration and not the tweaked one that Apple uses. I think to assume that most of your client have a Macbook and view strictly on MacBook, is an assumption that only you can make but I feel that is narrow in scope and create lots of assumption. Reason being is that because if your client have True Tone enable on their MacBook then the color would be totally different. If you calibrate your Macbook then the color you see would be different from that of your clients machine. This and not to mentioned the brightness setting, which the important question here is, what value are you using for this?, because at each brightness level color rendition and perception changes, not choosing a fixed value is the worse thing that you can do. Color workflow is about managing what you have, own and control and letting go of what you cannot control that is other people screens & displays. If this is your workflow, I would encourage you to retouch on BenQ and color correct on MacBook displays , which, personally, I feel limit the potential of your work. And if this is your workflow then I would forgo calibration all together, because in your specific scenario, calibration will offer you no benefit at all, in fact it can be a detriment.

      @@ArtIsRight what I mean is i have a game called l4d2 and its brightness is normal on my laptop but when i connected the monitor to m laptop i thought they were automatically synced to be the same level of brightness but instead i have all these settings colours, contrast, HDMI black level settings that just make it all confusing, So i just took a fiddle at the settings and i feel like i made it worse instead of it being dark it turned into red?? I just want it to match with my laptop.

      Brightness and color info are not usually synced at the hardware level. All of the crazy color that you are getting stem for HDMI as well. You just have to tweak the display setting, to get the color right.

    You totally miss the fact the some people could have a high end laptop that has a factory color calibrated panel, paired with older cheap monitors. My laptop display is much higher quality than my monitors, as I have not had the budget to get a good monitor. I don't really need a good monitor either they are just for extra screen space

      Good for you, this is one of those rare the other way around cases. And as good as laptop displays are, even the high end specs one there, are always some compromise here and there. One thing that no laptop has is hardware calibration.

      Calibrate them individually, don't expect a match, that is all you can do.

      You missed the point. The point of the video is to educate creatives on the issue so that they stop going down the rabbit hole wasting their time what physically can't be done. So that they get back to being creatives and not over think this all of the time.
