The Jessie segment was where Pixar learned they had the ability to make the audience break down sobbing. They have abused this power in nearly every movie since. It's kind of amazing.

Originally this was conceived a as a direct to video movie, but thankfully this never happened, following the commercial and box office success of A Bug's Life.
Ec Catmul and Steve Jobs convinced Disney to put it as a theatrical movie because doing DVD to video diminishes the quality and Pixar is all about giving the best quality
I've never heard of A BUG'S LIFE being a part of the decision: according to THE PIXAR TOUCH, a book about the company (at least, according to the pages that are available on Google), Disney was just very impressed with some early work done on the movie, and decided to upgrade it to Theaters. The book also makes an interesting point: that Pixar, as it was set up, wasn't very conducive to the idea of low-budget fare - in part because Pixar wanted the freedom of moving its extremely talented pool of employees from project to project, and therefore, "[s]ince labor costs added up to 75 percent or more of the production costs, it was unrealistic to try and make a significantly lower-cost production as long as all the films were to come from the same pool of employees earning the same salaries."

One of my favorite sequels of Toy Story next to the third film from it's introductions to new characters and a balance of Action and comedy it's easily one of those Pixar sequels you will never get tired off.

Actually, you can eat most packing peanuts. They are made from like, corn. They are made to be water dissolvable and biodegrade super easy so that they don't pollute. I know this cause in college 20 years ago I had a friend who liked to eat them, which you can imagine was somewhat of a reaction grabber.
The parents of TOY STORY are on autopilot because their kids get brand new toys outta nowhere and they don't bother asking where these came from? Real world parents.... Wake up and ask questions!
Angelina, there was a puppet cowboy show on tv on saturday mornings in the 1950s , it was called the Howdy Doody show and he had a live studio audience full of kids and a sidekick person dressed as a clown, it was the biggest thing for kids, i don't know how long it lasted but it didn't get cancelled right away . you can see a clip of it in Back to the Future 3 , and the kind of energy the kids had in a movie called UHF.

I dont have toys per say, but for me it's my stuffed animals. I'm 27 and I've kept pretty much all the ones I've ever had. One of them is a rabbit as old as me. That's my "woody"

I personally enjoyed the first film more because Woody and Buzz’s arcs were amazing and it was great watching their relationship grow. It also felt like it had higher stakes than this film in Sid’s house and the “So Play Nice” scene is just a masterpiece. They’re both brilliant films though.

Toy Story is one of the few rare franchises that gets better with every movie
I just heard the announcement that Pixar is making a 5th installment of this series, and I’m not sure if that’s a good idea. They should’ve ended the series with the 4th movie. Now, say what you will about “4”, but I thought it was a good movie. Not great, not the best movie of all time or anything, but it was good. It had its ups and downs, but it’s not like it ruined the characters for me like the internet claims it to be. Crucify me all you want, but I’m grateful with the 4th film. But “5”, now it seems like Pixar is pushing it a little too far.

I love all the movies but I would say Toy Story 3 is my favorite. It's got everything. New toys, a new setting, a great main villian, multiple intensity suspenseful moments, and an emotional ending to wrap it up.

This has always been my favorite toy story movie! Jessie is my #1 favorite character and bullseye is my 2nd. When I first got my toy Jessie I remember always bringing her everywhere with me. I even had her Halloween costume still have it just don’t know where it is & I was her for Halloween for like 6 or 7 years in a row. And I would never sleep without her, & I remember trying to catch her coming to life whenever I left the room. 😂 Love your videos!

According to a character iterview Stinky Pete have actuaclly started enjoying being maked up by Amy so he has been reformed (even though it's not shown in the movies themselves), as he got the very thing he needed: being loved by a kid, something he didn't get as he wasn't ever sold.
Jessie’s backstory in this movie 🎥 was really sad 😢 and it made my heart 💜 cry 😢. Every time I think about that scene I wouldn’t dare give up my Jessie doll that I still have when I was a little girl.
That song 🎵 “When She Loved Me” is really beautiful 🤩 and sad 😔 at the same time, Sarah McLachlan sang that song 🎵 so beautifully that it can really make you cry 😢.
Fun fat: there's more than one reference to star wars: in the videogame Rex was playing Buzz's breath was from Darth Vader, his laser sound was playing is from the empire's TIE Fighter cannons and Zurg's one is from X Wings

I agree. The second is the only one I saw twice in the theaters. And yes, they put a lot into this. Fortunately, the writers knew how to give everyone and everything a fair amount of time for the audience. The absurdity of nobody noticing these self moving objects or stolen vehicles is hilarious, too.

My feelings when watching Toy Story
Toy story 1: Terror

He says he was made in the late 1950s, so if we assume the first movie took place around 1995 when it was released and the third and fourth movies take place about 10-11 years later, that would make him about 40 years old in the first two movies, about 50 years old in the later two. The first three Toy Story films center on Woody's relationship with his kid, Andy. But while Andy was born in 1989, Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 4 both point out that Woody is a collectible toy from the 1950's. What was Woody's life like for the 40 years before he met Andy? The movies do not explicitly state the years in which they take place, which makes the Toy Story film timeline inexact. However, references within the films can date the first movie as taking place in 1995. This means that Andy, who is turning six in the first film, was born in 1989. Woody and Andy were friends from an early age, so Woody and Andy could have first met when Andy was a baby. When Al tries to buy Woody at the yard sale in Toy Story 2, Andy's mother apologizes and takes Woody back, saying that he is "an old family toy." Andy is only around eight years old in Toy Story 2, and as his mother identifies Woody as a family toy, rather than her son's toy, that seems to signal that Woody has been in the family's possession longer than Andy has been alive.

The only Toy Story movie I was allowed to watch as a kid, and to this day the only one I've seen in full. I love it so much.
I relate to the "don't touch me in public" thing - It's not that I don't want my partners affection or attention, just that I HATE the attention you get from others when you take part in PDA... It just feels gross.

Was there only one Woody doll?
Andy's father was also named Andy-Andy Sr. -and he wrote his name on Woody's boot. The reason Woody is such a rare toy is because he's the only Woody doll that was ever made-just a prototype. Long story short, Andy ends up with a Woody prototype, the absolute only Woody doll in existence (the official line was never manufactured due to a new interest in space toys). So, honestly after looking through google, Woody is only one of a kind unlike Buzz who we see the isles are full of buzzes but there is only one woody doll and the whole collection was only made of only one each and that's it. Which made them super rare.

I feel like Jessie being not happy with woody being so desperate to leave is understandable, not exactly correct, but understandable. Even without the backstory of being someones toy once, we saw how much being in the dark storage took a toll on her, thats akin to like solitary confinement.
