Fun Fact: Less than a year before the movie's release, someone doing routine storage cleanup accidentally deleted 90% of the project's files, and the backup files weren't working either. Fortunately, the supervising tech director, Galyn Sussman, had been working on a copy at home while on maternity leave, and they were able to hook it up to the main system. You could say, a baby saved _Toy Story 2_ from becoming lost media.
What you leave out is that then they remade the entire film from the ground up when a cinema release was decided. So you never saw any of the version that was lost and saved. So no, there was never a chance of this version becoming "lost media".

“You never forget kids like Emily or Andy… But they forget you.” Thank god that line flew over my head as a kid. Unfortunately as an adult with anxiety/depression that line now hits me like a ton of bricks💔🥺
In my opinion, Toy Story 2 is better than the original film. Jessie’s introduction, the adventure to save Woody, and Woody’s dilemma of choosing immortality over his loyalty to Andy are the emotional core to this film, and that’s why I love it so much!
To this day Jessie's song still brings tears to my eyes. Many fans theorize that Jessie's kid Emily is Andy's and Molly mom. There's evidence to support it.
I support that theory. Sure, it could've just been them reusing assets, but that's no fun! The ages line up, it's the same hat, and it makes sense for Andy to inherit his mom’s love of western toys. I wonder if Jessie ever recognized Andy’s mom as Emily if this theory’s true.
Sadly, Disney officially debunked the theory. But you know what I say? Unless they show evidence directly supporting otherwise, the theory is still fair game.
I think the most underrated thing about this movie is that Andy’s mom KNEW how much Woody meant to Andy so she didn’t sell Woody to Al, of course that didn’t mean anything cause Al stole him anyways!
Mattel didn't want Barbie in the first movie because they thought it was going to flop. After being proven very wrong, they asked Barbie to be included going forward.
I love that Woody and Buzz are a duo in these movies. When one of them is in trouble or trying to help someone else the other has their back with no question.
And this is where Pixar *really* got the reputation of pulling our heartstrings. The last two had their moments, but Jessie's story was the beginning of many, many, MANY Pixar tears.

Out of the Toy Story saga, Toy Story II is my favorite. I can recite most of the film word for word, I love it so much Also 19:22 One of the most satisfying scenes in film history.
(Sorry I'm over a year late) Toy Story 2 is by far my favorite animated movie and the epitome of a perfect sequel. This and Toy Story 1 I can quote pretty much perfectly as well. In fact, I distinctly remember one Saturday night in November 2018 when I was out playing Pokemon Go by myself when I played Toy Story 2 in my head beginning to end.
The fact that Woody and Buzz hated each other in the first movie xd And now their friendship is even stronger than every other character's 😄🙌 I love it!
I love how: because Zurg truly believes he's real (like Buzz did in part 1 and Buzz 2.0 in part 2, he is the only ine who reacts to the laser, as if he was actually hurt. Lol, what a perfect sequel.
I loved watching this movie on DVD. Although, now that I’m older, I kept waiting for Stinky Pete to say “Hello, Bart.” (Note: Kelsey Grammer voices Stinky Pete who also voiced Sideshow Bob on The Simpsons)
The toy cleaner is actually from another Pixar short, "Geri's Game", about an old man who plays chess against himself in the park. When he searches through the box drawers, you can briefly see chess pieces in one of them.
In so many respects Toy Story 2 has all the beats I hope for in a sequel. The story greatly expands on what came before, and the callbacks to the first film were awesome, especially with the scene when Buzz and the others confront Woody in the apartment with Buzz using the iconic "You! Are! A toy!" and the "You Got a Friend in Me" bit were just so great and altogether made for an incredibly emotional sequence. All around I love this film so much and it remains my favorite of the Toy Story series.
I absolutely love Toy Story 2, such an amazing sequel that equals the first film! I love the cast, the animation improvement while I still love the first film's animation. Not to mention the soundtrack in this was so well done. Loved the reaction Timothee!
this is my favorite of the four probably because I love the history with Woody's roundup and the shenanigans that happen when everyone is looking for him.
Toy Story 2 is an amazing movie and a great sequel. It introduced great new characters (including one that had my name which I loved as a kid), a new adventure outside of Andy and who his favorite is, and showed character growth for Woody and Buzz. This movie is my favorite of the series because it is about loyalty and friendship. Also, watching it as a kid and an adult still holds amazing messages.
17:44 you can see Flik and Heimlich on the branch before Buzz chops it dow. It’s also a funny clip of it at the end credits of the movie too. 19:21 most already know but that’s Geri from Pixar’s famous short Geri’s Game where he plays a game of chess against himself. There’s even a short moment you can see his chess board looking for stuff. I remember watching this so many times to look at Easter eggs in this movie and a bunch of others
The fact that bullseye can run as fast as a plane on the runway while carrying buzz which is like a full humans weight to him, like… talk about equestrian🐎
AFTER THIS YOU GUYS NEED TO SEE THE HALLOWEEN SPECIAL it gives Jessie an amazing arc and it's unbelievably good. never saw lightyear, it doesn't exist in my head.
Toy Story 2 is my favorite Toy Story movie 🎥. Every time I watch Jessie’s backstory it makes me feel sorry 😢 for her, the way she was abandoned in a box for years just gets me every time. I still have my Jessie doll, even though she’s old but it doesn’t matter. Fun fact: the voice of Barbie (and all the Barbie dolls) is Jodi Benson who also did the voice of my favorite Disney Princess, Ariel from The Little Mermaid 🧜♀️.
Another awesome movie. Also the hidden adult jokes as well are hilarious. My favourite moment and joke of the whole movie was when Jessie performed a flip and spin to open the door and buzz's wings popped out. So freaking funny. I love all your reactions Tim and they are even better when you have company like Clariss It's Totally Cody Mary Cherry etc.
I personally didn't interpret woody as being egotistical in this movie; he got to Jessy and them after feeling useless and fearing he'd be thrown away due to his injury. I feel like he was just excited to find out that he's still special to someone (even if it wasn't andy). Like he found a new purpose after feeling like he'd lost his.
It's actually partially confirmed that Woody is actually a prototype And that he was owned by Andy's dad We know that this technically is canon because one of the oldest pixar animators Joe ranft told a friend of his
Popular theory that Andy is a Jr his dad who we don't see also being Andy and Woody's original owner. The mom did say Woody was "an old family toy" and on the note of Andy's mom she is Emily Jesse's owner, look at Andy's hat it's the same and it's missing from the box of stuff Emily left with Jesse in it
24:35 This scene always made me cry, even when I was 7 or 8 years old. Time goes so fast, between when kids turn to teens, then adults, along with what they choose to do with that time. Also, the TV show with Woody, people move on, and so does the next generation who’s exposed to the newest big thing. Even if your in the limelight, you will be forgotten in a generation, when the next kids aren’t exposed to the past.
This reminds me of the Museum of Automata which used to be in York, but the collection was bought by a Japanese collector, the Japanese do have strong connections with their automata and robots, I like to think they’re in good hands in some house or museum in Japan now.
It is a perfect sequel. I don't know if I think it's better or worse than the original, but as you guys discussed, it built on everything from the first. Also, a commonly held fan theory is that Jesse's Emily is Andy's Mom. The basis of this theory is that the Cowboy hat that Andy wears is the same design as Jesse’s rather than Woody's. The idea is that this could easily have been the one item she hung on to from those days and now has passed it on to her son.
But the only problem with this theory is that Andy's Mum doesn't comment about Jessie when Andy gets her, you'd think that if she was Emily, she'd have at least something to say upon seeing Jessie again after so long.
Out of all the Toy Story movies, Toy Story 2 does the best with world building and lore. It really is the perfect sequel like Empire Strikes Back was to A New Hope.
I actually had an Emperor Zurg toy when I was younger! Holy crap, this unlocked a core memory. Watching these again after all these years really makes me wish I would have taken better care of my toys. I had so many good ones, I wonder what they're up to nowadays. lol
As a kid I was infatuated with G.I. Joe toys, I had all of them. My Mom worked at a restaurant and would bring the little cocktail "swords" home and I'd have them all be knights. I think that might be the only happy memory from childhood...
Hello there! Thank you so much for uploading your reaction to Toy Story 2, Tim and Clariss! This sequel is even better than the first one, one of the very few instances where a sequel manages to be well-received and even better than its predecessor, and this is definitely a more emotional and impactful movie considering Jessie's heartbreaking background and the moral dilemma Woody faces regarding his and his friends' future with Andy when he grows up. Also, I especially love the pop culture references and callbacks to my favorite movie franchises: Rex chasing after the toy car is just like the T-Rex car chase scene in Jurassic Park and the sound effects, Buzz vs. Zurg, and the "I am your father" bit just screams Star Wars! The coolest and most meta Pixar movie of it's time
The Woody's Round-Up franchise was inspired by Disney's Davey Crockett franchise from the 50s, which consisted of several TV movies shown Disneyland TV show. The character spoons were inspired by the Hanna-Barbera character spoons during the same period. Director John Lasseter had Yogi Bear and Huckleberry Hound spoons as a kid.
There's actually a lot of evidence to suggest Andy's mom was Jessie's original owner; I don't think there's ever been any official confirmation, but Andy having the same hat the little girl did is certainly an interesting coincidence.
It would also make sense why she wouldn't question where the toys came from. She might just see it as a sign from above, a miracle, and who are we humans, mortals to question miracles?
29:04 Fun Fact: A "Code 546" in Buzz's universe means the mission is the escort of royalty, to be specific: alternate-dimensional royalty. This is why utility belt Buzz excepts the fact there are two "real" Buzz lightyear's and kneels to Woody. xD
24:34 Am I the only one who doesn’t remember there being a donations truck in the background? I remember the box just being left there. Doesn’t make as much sense but that’s how I remember it
It's so nice that ya'll are continuing down the Toys Story movies train. Now you got to go even further on toward very last Toys Story movie. But I for real forgot certain parts of the second Toys story movie here and there although for the most part I remember a lot of the other scenes and moments from this movie, and yeah. It's still holds up even more then the first one especially when it comes the emotional aspects of this film and remembering a lot of the other adult humor within it including other pop culture references as well. But really you guys keep on going with these Toys Stories movies!

This reminds me of the Museum of Automata which used to be in York, but the collection was bought by a Japanese collector, the Japanese do have strong connections with their automata and robots, I like to think they’re in good hands in some house or museum in Japan now.
I really hope y'all watched the bloopers in the full length version because they are hilarious!
Yep
Pixar needs to go back and do bloopers again
Al is also Andy’s dad I reckon
Out of all the Toy Story movies, Toy Story 2 does the best with world building and lore. It really is the perfect sequel like Empire Strikes Back was to A New Hope.
Man, Timothee and Clariss are great alone but man, when they do reaction together... its magical
Gotta love how much the animation evolves over the course of each movie.
This was my favorite Toy Story movie as a kid and probably still is although it’s tied with the third movie on being my favorite movie.
I actually had an Emperor Zurg toy when I was younger! Holy crap, this unlocked a core memory. Watching these again after all these years really makes me wish I would have taken better care of my toys. I had so many good ones, I wonder what they're up to nowadays. lol
I did too!
As a kid I was infatuated with G.I. Joe toys, I had all of them. My Mom worked at a restaurant and would bring the little cocktail "swords" home and I'd have them all be knights.
I think that might be the only happy memory from childhood...
The old man fixing woody also appeared as the main lead in the Pixar short film Geri’s Game.
I knew I'd be crying if I clicked this...I clicked anyway. Impossible not to! This movie is one of my favorites of all time. It has it all. 💙
I loved this movie as a kid and watching it while I get older I just appreciate it so much more
My favorite song in the whole movie is "When Somebody Loved Me." Hearing Jessie's backstory is very tragic.
So many good voice performances in this film, but Joan Cusack absolutely breaks my heart as Jessie, even as a fully grown man.
One of my favorite parts of the movie was the credits and how they made the bloopers I think that’s what made me think toys could be real as a child
@@adrianrocha49 ah yes makes complete sense.
I also believe that Al Mcwiggin is Andy’s dad
This film is substantially better than the first one, in all aspects. Amazing story, amazing animation, really strong characters and motivations.
29:04 Fun Fact: A "Code 546" in Buzz's universe means the mission is the escort of royalty, to be specific: alternate-dimensional royalty. This is why utility belt Buzz excepts the fact there are two "real" Buzz lightyear's and kneels to Woody. xD
Tom Hanks is the best actor ever we all love you Tom Hanks always in the top best movies, and Woodys round up came before Woody was made
11:45 When Jessie Said Mint In The Box, I Used To Think That Stinky Pete Smelled Like Mints.
Both Al and Zerg were voiced by Wayne Knight (Newman in Seinfeld and Officer Down in 3rd Rock)
24:34 Am I the only one who doesn’t remember there being a donations truck in the background? I remember the box just being left there. Doesn’t make as much sense but that’s how I remember it
I've loved this movie my whole life, but I've only just realized how epic the climax was.
I like how Buzz didn't give up on Woody just like Woody didn't give up on him
7:30 - 7:49 reminds me so much to asthma those who can relate to me (being im one of the many people who has it with autism)
I saw this film three times in the cinema within a week!
Can definitely see why!
I like how 50 % of the movie franchise has a Star Wars reference every where
I had this movie on repeat as a kid still one of my favourite movies to this day
There's a theory that Emily is Andy's mom, evidenced by Andy's hat being red, like Jessie's, instead of brown.
I remember having a Woody, Buzz, Jesse, Bullseye, Mr potato head, and I even had the old prospector. They are now probably in my moms attic.
"Too late put em on the next flight"
So that's how my luggage keeps getting lost
Emily is DEFINITELY Andy's mum.
The hat Andy wears is a Jessie hat that Emily could have just handed down to Andy.
