    I'm not sure if you noticed at the end, but in the scene at the drive-in, Mack notices how they're just using the same actor in a lot of the movies. The actor who voices Mack, John Ratzenburger, is more or less making fun of himself. He's been part of the voice cast in some form of every Pixar feature film since Toy Story.

    • @mevb
      @mevb 15 дней назад +16

      Up until Onward, that is. He stopped appearing from Soul onwards except for Inside Out 2 when he reprised his role as Fritz (and most likely in Toy Story 5, reprising as Hamm).

    • @mevb
      @mevb 15 дней назад +8

      @NiaMakiReacts There're more voice actors that are in more than one Pixar movie (not counting those reprising their roles in sequels and prequels), like Bonnie Hunt (Sally) have been in A Bug's Life (Rosie), Monsters, Inc. (Mrs. Flint), Toy Story 3 and 4 (Dolly) and Monster University (Karen Graves), Richard Kind (Van) was in A Bug's Life (Molt) and Inside Out (Bing Bong), and Cheech Marin (Ramone) have besides the Cars sequels and spin-offs "only" been another Pixar movie, Coco (Corrections Officer), he have been in a couple of Disney Animation movies such as Oliver & Company (Tito), The Lion King, The Lion King 1 1/2 AKA The Lion King 3: Hakuna Matata plus Kingdom Hearts (Banzai).

    There's actually a book that details Lightning's backstory and origins as a racer. His real name is Montgomery, and he learned to race at an Racing Academy where the top student would receive a sponsorship. During his time there, McQueen befriended another car named Carl, and the two often spent their time racing each other in friendly competitions. Before the final race of the year, in which would determine who would graduate and earn the sponsorship, Carl told McQueen there was a problem with his car parts (I don't remember exactly what it was) and urged him to remove it to avoid any crashes. However, this was a lie as McQueen was in perfect condition, and this removal made McQueen slower and allowed Carl to overtake him and win the race, and Carl earned the sponsorship, and McQueen felt betrayed by the one who he thought was his friend, and after that, McQueen came to believe that he could only depend on himself and didn't need anyone to avoid suffering another betrayal, which explains his self-confidence and lack of teamwork skills at the beginning of the movie.
    After graduating and racing on the minor leagues, McQueen was fired from his sponsor, Smell Swell Deodorizer in favor of another young rookie racer named Sammy Smelter, whose poor racing fit the image of Smell Swell better, according to the representative who fired McQueen. Mack, who had overheard McQueen's termination, approached him and offered to take McQueen to Boston to meet for a job opportunity with Rust-eze, who had been looking, with little success, for a new spokescar. During their trip, McQueen and Mack became fast friends. Upon their arrival in Boston, Rusty and Dusty Rust-eze offered a sponsorship to McQueen. Though he was initially hesitant due to the sponsor's humiliating demeanor, McQueen ONLY agreed if Rust-eze allowed Mack to become his driver, which they allowed, and that's how McQueen and Mack came to work together.

    This movie was dedicated to Joe Ranft, who was a storyboard/story man at Pixar, as he sadly passed away in 2005 in a car crash. He was co-directing the movie with John Lasseter, when he died, and voiced Red and Peterbielt. He have voiced other characters in Disney and Pixar movies like Elmo Saint Peters/The Clown in The Brave Little Toaster, Igor in The Nightmare Before Christmas, Lenny in Toy Story, Heimlich in A Bug's Life, Wheezy in Toy Story 2, Peter Claws Ward in Monsters, Inc. and Jaques in Finding Nemo.

He also have been Story Supervisor, Story Artist and/or writer of several Disney and Pixar movies like The Brave Little Toaster, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Oliver & Company, The Little Mermaid, The Rescuers Down Under, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Toy Story 1 and 2, A Bug's Life, Fantasia 2000 and Monsters, Inc.

    The Fabulous Hudson Hornet was a real car and they were the NASCAR champions from 1951 to 1954, absolutely dominated the competition. Sadly the Hudson Motor Car Company was not in a great financial situation and was forced to merge with another car company Nash Motors, and they became a company known as American Motors. Sadly after that the race program was terminated during the merger and not long after the Hudson name was retired.

    The main reference was to old Route 66, which was a hugely important and popular US highway that crossed the nation before the Interstate system. There were many tourist sites and interesting sites along the way. There was even a television series in the 60s about it. If you drive through Missouri along Interstate 44 (which, by necessity, follows the old Rt 66 because of the mountain passages), you get a taste of what the entire route was like. You may not have noticed that the background scenes showed mountain outcroppings that looked like old cars with their front ends buried in the earth. That was a reference to Cadillac Ranch, located near Amarillo, Texas. It features a row of 10 Cadillac cars (ranging from 1949 to 1963 models) partially buried nose-down in the ground, with their tail fins sticking up.

      The town itself and it's surroundings are based off a lot of what's left of old 66 through Arizona and New Mexico. The Cozy Cone is an homage to the Wigwam Motels (two still remaining, one in Arizona, one in California) which were giant concrete teepee rooms and the slogan "Sleep in a Wigwam!"

    I know this is Disney/ Pixar, but in all of the Pixar movies, there will be easter eggs. When Mack wanted to stop off for a breather, if you look on the sides of the sleeping trucks, you will see the "The Incredibles" logo as well as a couple of logos for movies that they were working on and would be released after this movie. You will also notice that the Pizza Planet truck and the yellow ball is also somewhere in every movie that they made after Toy Story.

    Whole-heartedly agree. It's amazing how a good story-teller can make you feel for something as inanimate and cold as a car! I had the same experience the first time I saw Finding Nemo. I went into it wondering how they could make a fish relatable (I mean, fish are not exactly cute and cuddly, furry critters!), but - just like this one - the story-telling and characterisation won me over. If you haven't already seen Nemo, do add it to your list.

    😎👍 One doesn't have to be into automobile racing to enjoy this film. That's the beauty of animation. It always transcends it's subject matter. One also doesn't have to like insects to enjoy "A Bug's Life" (1998) or fish to enjoy "Finding Nemo" (2003), two other early Disney/Pixar films that you'd really enjoy. Incidentally, they were both goofed on at the end of this film. 😉

    This movie is a sort of rehash of the Michael J Fox movie called “
    Doc Hollywood”
    Watch that sometime . Equally satisfying. But Cars is as great movie. Should have left it a one and done.

    Good movie, although the basic plot (and many of the roles) is the same as "Doc Hollywood" ten years earlier: "Cocky young doctor Ben Stone (Michael J. Fox) is off on a road trip to California in pursuit of a relaxed and high-paying career as a plastic surgeon to the rich and famous. But before he can pass the Mississippi River, he crashes his car on a small-town judge's property in South Carolina and incurs a community service fine, to be served out at the local hospital assisting the aged town doctor, Dr. Hogue (Barnard Hughes). Ben is soon tempted to stay by a pretty ambulance driver (Julie Warner)."

    For a live-action, true story car movie that non-car people are shocked at how sweet it is (and how much they cry), please watch Matt Damon & Christian Bale in "Ford v Ferrari." You won't be sorry!

    I will say this in advance...
    The voice actor and inspiration for Doc Hudson, Paul Newman, had unfortunately passed away due to lung cancer awhile after the first movie, so they made Doc pass away in a similar manner to memorialize him in the 2nd and 3rd movies. May he rest in peace 🙏

    Maybe even "Gran Turismo" since its a video game movie that based off a true story. (Well Ford vs Ferrari is also based off a true story)

    Just a heads up in case you end up watching the sequels, but Cars 2 is, uh... a very different type of movie. It's entertaining enough by kids' movie standards, but it probably won't have you feeling anything like the first one.
