I feel like they forgot they could wall climb. Sometimes it looked like they were relying on teammates for mobility rather than just climbing up and over themselves.
ive been playing kiriko a LOT and sometimes i forget she can wall climb tbh because im used to mercy and i immediately look for teammates to get around just because kiriko has a somewhat similar ability 😭
I'm so glad you talked about what her role is as a support. So many people have been flaming Kiriko players for not having higher damage, but she isn't built like Zen, Brigitte, Bap, or even Moira. Unless its a crit, her damage is super low. And her primary healing is actually pretty high, so it's best to heal you're teammates as the primary role, and if your team is healed or you've got a pick and momentum, then you can start looking to land shots on the enemies (or if you can get a safe sightline on the enemy squishies). Not utilizing her massive amount of healing (as well as it's range and flexibility) is a huge mistake. 9 times out of 10, its more effective to be healing your team than trying to land that Kunai shot from 100 meters away, or dumping your low damage kunai into a shield.
That's funny because I run into so many Kirikos that, more often than not, don't left click for anything. You really never know what you're going to get with that pick right now.
While it is absolutely hilarious win a 1v1 against a Genji even Reaper, I agree it's incredibly easy to get 8k healing on Kiriko and playing her boring like that is generally better anyways
i always spam kunai down a choke point at head height while my ofuda recharges, healing is primary but when healing is on charge spamming kunai for damage and lucky kills is always a good thing
Hog feels _a lot_ more lethal now that double barrier is gone. If your hook accuracy is good, you can just play him as an aggressive flank and constantly bully squishies. Take a Breather gives him enough sustain to survive most encounters, so long as you're not deep into their backline. I haven't had the pleasure of using Whole Hog alongside a Kiriko ult, but I have been on the receiving end of a Death Blossom in a Kiriko ult, and that's pretty scary.
Can concur had a roadhog bully me and my whole time yesterday on Dorado and since it's was silver I was the only one who actually tried to stop him but unfortunately his team was pumping every resource into him
I would argue Hog is even worse now. He has no synergy with any character anymore since the only time you would use him would be with Ball, Zarya, or Orisa. So his only gameplay now is to flank which in all honesty is atrocious since how important tanks are to team fights. If you go on a flank your entire team has nothing to soak all that damage, and he provides 0 value to his team whatsoever.
@@liamgleason9283 think is in at least low ranks, nobody is respecting your hook. I start the fight in front of my team, then go on a quick flank and their main support/dps is dead before they know it
As a hog main, I can confirm OW2 is a lot nicer feeling now that barriers are either nerfed or gone completely. I usually average around 66% hook accuracy each game, whereas in OW1 I was struggling to break 60. Also Roadhog in a kiriko ult is hilariously fun

it's really interesting that in this video and the previous Junkerqueen both submitters had a very clean start but eventually the mental overload kicks in.
So I've noticed this a lot. Kiriko's Protection suzu acts strange sometimes, I don't know if its not an instant application or if the sound/visuals are early. You can throw the Suzu straight down at the floor when you're in danger, visually confirm the impact, hear the sound queue and be visibly affected by the visual aid, and still die within a few frames. From my experience it seems like the sound and visuals are probably happening a few frames early. Granted it could be connection issues, I don't have the most insane internet ever but a stable 40ms on my end doesn't usually lead to this type of inconsistency.
I think it's them just seeing a big red critical sign above a teammates head, and using cleanse to prevent them from getting killed. It's hit or miss most times, but I can understand the thought process.

The system does a great job at putting you quickly in the rank you belong, and once you're there, well, at that point you're playing with equally skilled players so it just becomes like quickplay, but with better competitive integrity overall. The main reason for avoiding competitive, is if you have long-term goals and you don't want to start your ranked journey from the very bottom. In that case it may be beneficial to wait a little and learn the game better, and then maybe place in silver or gold instead of bronze, to make the climb journey easier from the get-go. In case anyone's wondering, yes. This is the exact same guy from "spectated a bronze kiriko and they learned nothing". Although, not many people can actually learn anything or improve significantly in 5 days, specially if the dude's got a life, plays not too often, etc. So this one meh, will give a pass (First replay was October 27 or before, second replay is posted on halloween, oct 31st). In fact, I'd say he kind of learned. First video he did NOTHING but heal, and only heal. On second video, we clearly see him throwing kunais more often, teleporting to aggressive teammates and assist them, trying to avoid insta deaths with suzu. Progress is progress, so bs on you again Fats.
the enemy team is quite garbage, but no shot this kiriko belongs in bronze. Easily gold+, most of the kirikos even in gold are quite braindead and don't know how valuable and useful the protection suzu is.
@@flyphoenix22 the last thing you want to do in a duel is to start wall climbing by mistake. If you're playing around corners (you should be), it's too easy to wall climb by mistake. You want to have full control of when and where you choose to start wall climbing.
Kirko IMO is currently a lot like ana. They get primarily referred to as healers, but they have so much utility in their kits beyond restoring hp. Like with the sleep dart cucking ults, the cleanse can nullify a ton of cooldowns that are key parts of big plays. And then on top of that she has great mobility with the wall climb and teleport. AND like ana her ult enhances a lot of ults, like hog, and it benefits everyone in that area. In lower tiers heroes like reaper, soj, rein, and bastion become absolute menaces when they get that fire rate boost. Also when I play kiriko I find that spamming knives when you don't need to be healing can really add up. Even if you don't hit every headshot, the ones you do hit have such a high multiplier on them that it can instantly force a lot of damage and supports to go defensive or blow survival cooldowns. When you're playing around a shield, or sigma or orisa are eating shots, just toss some knives.
I've noticed something recently a lot of the new players do amazing on attack completely fall apart on defense this goes for all roles but especially on tank and support
My brother never played FPS game and i invited him to Overwatch, Everytime i saw his gameplay it's really pure and weirdly wholesome, as of now he need to win 50QP to unlock and play comp, i for sure am excited to see his 1st Comp match
the comment about how most support players don't understand that they are supposed to be doing damage is something everyone should know. It is the reason that mercy is no longer viable
Thanks flats for the tip I'm a suck main but that's something I didn't know I normally come to watch the train wreck but the occasional tip really helps and that's something I didn't know about kiriko
I love the first person view of the cyberpunk skin but absolutely hate the thrid person look of the skin. Basically the knives, paper, and gloves look amazing everything else about the skin sucks
For anyone who wants to perfect Kiriko, there’s a custom game you can play which simulates the stress of a battle and can also help you perfect your aim, use of suzu and tp. The code is: NVMEE
I know i've commented this on one of your videos before, but in lower ranks like gold silver bronze, most players don't have the situational awareness to rotate when the payload moves past them. Plus people don't usually have as sharp of aim that they can completely suppress your ability to move the cart from the high ground. So while I agree that high ground is the smarter way to play, at this rank it really is better to just stand right infront of them and prevent the cart from moving.
Finding new players in comp games is fucking awful, I love new players playing the game and shit but they are almost always completely clueless without a lot of hours in quick play or even arcade. 99% of the time it's just like that one guy in the shroud clip recently that was playing lucio and didn't know how to heal people, wallride, or any kind of unique mechanic to the hero. He was shooting them with his gun to try and heal them. The other 1% is smurfs or cheaters, about 50/50 for either so far in high plat-mid diamond.
Sure he made mistakes, but being honest this isn't bronze level. This is more like gold, he was at least aware of ults, aim was half decent, not walking in straight line, not afk in payload, like.. you know, what anyone would expect of a bronze level player.
I kinda hate the influx in reddit posts like "How should I play as a Healer Main", Some people will label it semantics and such but it's the basic understanding of the role itself can help that player immensely.... There are NO healers in this game, we have Supports..
theres massive differences between new players, because for instance i came from 900 hours of apex and many other fps games, whilst others came from idk minecraft or something like that, some people have this as their first fps so it is really dependent on where the new players come from which determines how good they are
True, a lot of people are coming from valorant and trying ow2 for the first time and they're learning the hard way that their valorant skill doesn't transfer well lol
If you really want to see someone new to the game, I should send you some of my vods. Not only I never ever played OW1, I never played FPS too, since I'm a Souls PVP player. A friend got me into OW2 and I don't actually play competitive at all and most of the time when this friend of mine is online to play with me. I'm beyond being bad at the game lmao
As someone who has made it my mission to play her more when the comp works (aren't many comps she doesn't work with but still lol) I made so many of these mistakes and a few still especially the cleanse at first lol. It really sucks when you use it and the other team knows and take advantage of it with Ana or Queen, you should be wall climbing whenever you can. Gotta make yourself harder to hit, plus it's so satisfying when you hit those midair head shots on a DPS player 🤣🤣
you said at the beginning "you are a support character not a healing character you need to look for angles and attack then you can just tp back to your teammates" then later on you said "you are kiriko you need to be healing like 80% of the time snd only attacking when there is a flanker" seems a bit contradictory to me.

These type of kiriikos infuriate me so much because the playstyle is actually pathetic. No matter what you tell them kindly , meanly, whatever way, they never will learn anything new. They will continue to play the game like this for another 500 hours, still have the aim mechanics, and continue to soft throw games. I still get these people in diamond. I'm masters support though on PC since I switched, so I never do this lol
"Or maybe a DPS clutched out and I lack awareness to notice" Widowmaker was dominating that killfeed lmao, I think lack of awareness to noticing it is correct on their end.

I’m still waiting for Kiriko to have an automatic wall climb toggle like Genji and Hanzo
Same sometimes I struggle trying to climb the wall.
Auto climb is pretty cringe.
@@DjNaste What’s bad about it?
@@flyphoenix22 the last thing you want to do in a duel is to start wall climbing by mistake. If you're playing around corners (you should be), it's too easy to wall climb by mistake. You want to have full control of when and where you choose to start wall climbing.
@@flyphoenix22 same reason as why the heal shouldn’t be auto like flats said. gives you less control
I got some really good tips from this. Thanks for coaching.
When you're playing around a shield, or sigma or orisa are eating shots, just toss some knives.
you are entertaining flats, simple as that
I've noticed something recently a lot of the new players do amazing on attack completely fall apart on defense this goes for all roles but especially on tank and support
My brother never played FPS game and i invited him to Overwatch, Everytime i saw his gameplay it's really pure and weirdly wholesome, as of now he need to win 50QP to unlock and play comp, i for sure am excited to see his 1st Comp match
I low key love it when Flats is proud of his Bronze babies :3
I like the Kiriko/Hog combo but for audio standards, Nano'd Sombra is the coolest sound in the game.
the comment about how most support players don't understand that they are supposed to be doing damage is something everyone should know. It is the reason that mercy is no longer viable
Ever since I started watching flats last year I climbed from low silver to high plat, I'm an Ana main
Dude sent this in thinking he looked incredible but had zero positional awareness lol
The kiriko tip in the start with the settings is so helpful, I ddin't even know about it
Literally thank you.. had to stop and like this at 2:00 because of that one kiriko tip
Thanks flats for the tip I'm a suck main but that's something I didn't know I normally come to watch the train wreck but the occasional tip really helps and that's something I didn't know about kiriko
was looking forward to a spectating bronze as binged watch all the others then i noticed i watched it live :(
I love the first person view of the cyberpunk skin but absolutely hate the thrid person look of the skin.
Basically the knives, paper, and gloves look amazing everything else about the skin sucks
Yup
For anyone who wants to perfect Kiriko, there’s a custom game you can play which simulates the stress of a battle and can also help you perfect your aim, use of suzu and tp. The code is: NVMEE
Very interesting. I learned a few things. Thank you.
Agreed the cyberpunk skin is a solid C, other than the glowing papers are awesome
Looking at the end of the video, when hog was walking in during OT, it looked like matrix ate the papers
There are NO healers in this game, we have Supports..
theres massive differences between new players, because for instance i came from 900 hours of apex and many other fps games, whilst others came from idk minecraft or something like that, some people have this as their first fps so it is really dependent on where the new players come from which determines how good they are
True, a lot of people are coming from valorant and trying ow2 for the first time and they're learning the hard way that their valorant skill doesn't transfer well lol
a lot of tips on that one wow !
I'll give this guy credit, I've been playing a lot of Kiriko lately and even I didn't know that papers couldn't be eaten. Thanks Flats!
They are eaten though.
Damn, he even got Reverend from rdr2 in this vid. Grats on that, Flats!
1:27 When it's on, you click the button once... I'M ON FIRE!
Alright, if this is bronze 5, it's gonna be a real challenge finding those super duper stooped plays that make us laugh so much :(
Not only bronze 5. Ex 528SR as well
I like his analysis. Subbed.
Yes, Healing Ofuda _can_ be absorbed by Defense Matrix.
Why is nobody talking about the Kiriko's Widow teammate popping off?
Hearing Flats say Kitty-ko over and over is the best part of this video.
Japenese doesn’t have a proper R sound, it’s more of a mix between a D and an L. He’s saying her name correctly
he's pronouncing it correctly, you misheard the ri sound lol
It's just a completely different game at this elo haha
If you really want to see someone new to the game, I should send you some of my vods. Not only I never ever played OW1, I never played FPS too, since I'm a Souls PVP player. A friend got me into OW2 and I don't actually play competitive at all and most of the time when this friend of mine is online to play with me. I'm beyond being bad at the game lmao
ty for the kiriko tip in the start :D
Also the hog using corners was a surprise
That was me, sorry my gaming chair was in the wash
You can attack out the healing animation don't need to turn off the setting
Climbing out of bronze was a struggle, currently gate kept at gold 1 lol.
Hey man if you're gold 1 I like to think of it like you're one of the best gold players in the world
As someone who has made it my mission to play her more when the comp works (aren't many comps she doesn't work with but still lol) I made so many of these mistakes and a few still especially the cleanse at first lol. It really sucks when you use it and the other team knows and take advantage of it with Ana or Queen, you should be wall climbing whenever you can. Gotta make yourself harder to hit, plus it's so satisfying when you hit those midair head shots on a DPS player 🤣🤣
Oh this feels like my gameplay. Halfway through a match I'll suddenly lose focus.
Watching this reminds me of watching hockey with my dad screaming at the tv thinking the players can hear him
you said at the beginning "you are a support character not a healing character you need to look for angles and attack then you can just tp back to your teammates" then later on you said "you are kiriko you need to be healing like 80% of the time snd only attacking when there is a flanker" seems a bit contradictory to me.
He said the first statement on offense and the second on defense
Finally, someone agrees with me on her cyberpunk skin😭😭
7 min mark when flats is asking is he's feeling alright and looks confuse there. ik what he was looking for lol he just misjudged how far back that wall actually is he attempted to climb the red wall when it's the yellow one that is climbable
I'm actually new to OW2, and I picked up Kiriko and she's one of my mains. I normally don't do ranked games in any online games but I played ranked games with my brother till I placed on support, and I actually placed Silver 1 :D I was proud of myself
Kind of an L take about the cleanse use frequency. It's not immortality field, and is meant to be used more often and not held on to.
"Or maybe a DPS clutched out and I lack awareness to notice" Widowmaker was dominating that killfeed lmao, I think lack of awareness to noticing it is correct on their end.
Love waking up to flats
Thank you about the tip about her her ofudas, I didn't know you can toggle off her auto ofudas!
You hear that supports we gotta damage AND heal
Watch me I'm brand new to Overwatch LMAO. I still have to win 20 more games to unlock ranked though.
7:06 - 7:23 The dabs just kicked in, I'm callin it.
If the original uploader ever sees this, please let me know if I'm right or not. 😂
@flats btw yes the papers do get eaten by dva (same with suzu)
and they also get boosted by bap ult
I'm very new to overwatch, and fps games. I've played only a small bit of halo (just the first game) and some tf2 over 5 years ago. I'm getting better and I went from a bronze 3 support to a silver 4 and just today I became a silver 2 :) these videos and others like it are so helpful because seeing someone who's more experienced point out flaws is so fucking helpful.
Edit: watching your videos has made it so I get very irritated that I cant use voice chat (I play on nintendo switch btw and voice chat is.... broken? I've tried to get it to work but idek) and it's so annoying when I cannot convince my team to high ground with me
They didn't wall climb once during this video
It's so bad when playing with new players. They are crazy oblivious to the objective of the rounds.
I don't mind it unless it's comp. Happens in diamond and if it's a tank it's GG
Regarding the healing ofuda toggle, I like having it on, that way you can use a reload animation cancel to heal faster when needed
I feel new kirikos should keep their swift step sensitivity at 50% so they can learn the window for her healing tracking since it's the range as her swift step sensitivity at 50%
