- Bison were nearly exterminated across North America. Thanks to the Shoshone tribe, the National Wildlife Federation and the coordinated efforts of a host of other individuals and organizations, bison have finally been brought back the Wind River Indian Reservation and a landscape that they once defined. For more information, please visit: www.nwf.org/tribalbison
My wife and I financially contributed to this relocation, and will do more for future pure bison returns to Indian reservations where they belong. Warms our hearts to be a very tiny part of this effort.
You are good people!!!
Thank you sooooooo much
great work man i applaud you both
Axheha (thank you in Dine/Navajo) May the Great Creator bless you and your family, generations to come..
This is another issue that is coming to light for many people & rightly so. Thanks Colin & the crew for filming this documentary about important issues, cheers.
Great video of the buffalo's return. The video brought tears to my eyes. When will we as a nation of people learn to value and respect all living beings? Thanks to the persistant efforts of the people of the Wind River Indian Reservation and the National Wildlife Federation!!
This is beautiful to see these Bison buffalo 🦬 home and it is emotionally ....happy for the tribe......
I actually had goose pimples watching the ten bison being released at the Wind River Indian Reservation.
Wonderful, I'm so happy to see these bison running free. I think it's a win/win for the tribes and the bison. Thanks to all who got the bison to their new home.
Thank you America Conservationists and Wildlife preservers..
This is FABULOUS! I am so happy to see this for the tribes and for all Americans!
Me too! Thanks!
Purely amazing to watch such respect for the wild buffalo. They belong here. They should be free and they should be protected always. It shows a deep respect for mother earth and all her creatures.
This made me weep. Very powerful, historic moment and initiative. Wonderful to see this ancient and noble relationship between tribes and buffalo rekindled, and to see how the white conservation officers involved with this were also connected to its incredible importance.
Thanks a lot Matthew. I appreciate you taking the time to comment. Stay tuned - I'm working on a feature length film about bison at the moment..
No problem and wow I’m delighted to hear that! Will definitely be interested in watching that when you release it; I’ve subscribed to your channel. I thought your camerawork and music choice in this piece was especially impactful; some absolutely beautiful landscapes. Thanks for making it!
(Out of interest, where did you get the whistling which features in the first couple of minutes of this video? It really creates a great atmosphere)
@@dreamer2260 Thanks for the kind words and for subscribing. You should get notified when it's done but that likely won't be for another year. Feel free to connect on social media as well for more regular updates. The whistling was done by my friend Matthew Marsolek: www.drumbrothers.com/matthewbio.htm
No problem and thanks! I’ll look out for it. Ah clearly a talented guy!
This project is truly a beautiful thing. I hope this will be one of many bison reintroductions to come in the near future.
This is a magical moment in the lives of the buffalo and the American Indian tribes! Keep fighting!
Colin Ruggiero : I just wanted to say thank you for such a exceptional video. From beginning to end was just awesome. And the music was the icing on the cake ! Thank you again! Godbless.
Thanks a lot, Emil! Glad you liked it!
AMAZING TO SEE. So happy to see them back and for our children and grand babies and so on.
We need thousands of pure wild bison on the Landscape
A wonderful beginning and seeing the work and interest of all these years. Amazing.
Bison are such cool animals
Free to live as they want, as should be the same for our people
Inspiring and an example for all protectors of wildlife.
Tatunka..is that the word that used to be used for buffalo? Im sure I spelled it wrong..means stand your ground I believe, how fitting for this, back where they should be and with much respect. my first experiance with Buffalo was in South Dakota at Custer State park,I have much respect for these Amazeing animals.
Yes. I think it's "tatanka" and I've heard various interpretations of it, one of them being, "he who owns us." And yes, they're amazing animals!
Each Tribe has their own term for the animal, there are over 300 distinct languages in the US. Tatanka is Lakota, Boy-zshan is Shoshone.
May the buffalo roam again!
wonderful to see these beautiful bison free
Incredible beautiful creators ..
Wonderful....I want to go there
precious, beautiful, amazing! I love animals and nature so much, we are one.
Breathtaking and wonderful!
Thanks a lot!
Exciting, beautiful and as it should be!!
This is so beautiful. Now to only do this with the wolves and the rest of mother nature's children.
how it was meant to be...
Nice work.
Thanks Glenn!

Thanks!
Wonderful
Such beautiful country...
Great job!
Thank you!
Has the herd increased? I know that it is important to the land. The prairie should be preserved for all.
Yes, the herd has grown but is currently limited by the amount of land available. People are working hard to expand their available range and continue to increase the size of the herd.
NOW I hope they teach the kids how to manage these herds AND how to processes the meat and hides and how to use the bones etc...
This is truly critical to the success and sustainability of the initiative, and in my opinion the long-term cultural survival of the plains tribes as well.
Wow, just wow! this is amazing
Thanks Laura!
because animals deserve to live free from humans threat in this world and nature it is not ours to destroy
Powerful
How the hell do you wipe out 50 millions+ bisons from the Great Plains in less than half a century OMG must had been pure carnage for them...So vicious what humans are capable to wildlife that they can’t tame
There was a lot of carnage. But disease played a huge role as well.
@@ColinRuggiero It was greed and the lust for land .White hunters who killed them for their hides leaving everything else to rot and the US Calvary that almost exterminated them . Official US policy was to remove the Indigenous peoples food source and starve us into submission.
This was wonderful to see! I just wish hundreds more bison will be released to the land!
i hope the wolf be restore too
so beautiful..
Thanks Magdalena!
@@ColinRuggiero you are more than welcome!
