Yeah... I've never quite accepted how downhill her career went after that. When i saw that movie, I was like "okay, I'm gonna watch everything that brunette is in". And like... three years later, she was in Disclosure ?! =__=
The tears in his eyes in that moment when he realizes she finally believes it. So beautifully acted. Patrick was such a talented artist, brilliant but underrated.
The tears combined with the Happy smile on Molly's face, the shared smile from Sam. Finally!! She Believes! To those of us who lost someone through tragedy, this film helps us believe that there in a better place. REST Mr. Swayze, an we thank you.
Just like in Mad Love (1995) with Chris O'Donnell and Drew Barrymore, right near the end when we see tears pour down Matt's(O'Donnell's)face as he and Casey(Barrymore) give each other a hug and say goodbye just before she is admitted to the mental hospital--for anyone who's ever seen that movie as well you have to admire the way Chris really got into his character, so much to the point of being moved by tears flowing down his face, just as Demi was here.
I was just reading her memoir She said this movie and the emotions/crying wss the most challenging as an actress! She herself rarely allowed herself to ever cry. She was so self conscious about crying on demand. But she worked with someone on set that “taught” her how to cry beautiful.
1:39 Such a beautiful, iconic shot. Close up of Demi's gorgeous eyes, and the one tear falling on her cheek at the right moment. Another great shot of Demi is in Charlie's Angels Full Throttle, when she shoots the speaker box after delivering the line "I was great," with tears coming down her face. Love it.
I think the main reason why Molly didn't believe that Sam was trying to communicate through Oda Mae at first was because of grief. When he died the pain of his death hit her hard and later finding out that his best friend Carl was behind the whole thing shook her up. However after seeing that penny move up the door and then over to her hand she finally realized that everything that Oda Mae was telling her was true and that Sam had been there the whole time.
I think two things make it extra hard to believe in this case. 1. The fact that faith has been slowly but surely widely eliminated in modern day society by ridiculing it and propagating science as the one and only thing to trust and believe in. Which not only is garbage, but having lost their faith, people are much easier to scare and manipulate than people who believe. It’s hard to convert them back. I think this is one of the biggest topics in this movie - the return to faith. All of the main characters believe in the end, but most of them struggle to get there, like Molly. 2. I wouldn’t say grief is the reason for her lack of faith, but rather the fear of rekindled hope being destroyed again. Like that police officer said, most people WANT to believe, especially those who are grieving and vulnerable. But they are afraid of being hurt all over again.
I saw this film a week or two after sudden loss of my wife in '89 and saw it with my mom and I cried the whole movie... maybe therapeutic but not fun.... I could certainly feel what Demi Moore's character was feeling.
I lost someone once and used to see pennies all the time. I wondered why, then someone told me they are pennies from heaven and someone is trying to tell you they are ok. brings me to tears of gratitude everytime
Sam said "Its for luck". Ironically, Sam got the same luck to meet that Subway Ghost so that he can move the coin up the door and hand to Molly. What an emotional scene this is. One of the most movies made. R.I.P. Sam Wheat (a.k.a. Patrick Swayze).
Maurice Jarre. He never seems to get the attention that John Williams or Ennio Morricone get, but he's done some amazing scores. Building the Barn from Witness is fantastic.
To those of us who have lost a spouse/mate/partner, seeing this again after losing my own, makes me appreciate the tenderness of the scene so much more. We ALL want that just one more time with the person we love who we have lost. For a moment, you can believe it happens. Such an incredible cast and everyone was just perfect in their role. Demi crying always gets me, I totally understand where that character is at, and wish for a moment, it could be me

After I finish, this 60-ish woman motions me over, clasps her hands around mine, and explains that her husband of 30 years recently died of cancer. And that was their song. Some films are so good, so brought to life by the actors you'd swear it was all fly on the wall. This is one of those films where everyone was so on point, so emotionally connected to their characters it's just felt so real - ironic, for a movie called Ghost. Incredible.
love the scene, makes me cry like a baby every single time....but when Sam leans down to move the penny you can clearly see his shadow.. Ghosts obviously can't produce shadows.
This is the greatest love movie of all time...and 1990 was the time for it to exist...love is such a powerful element it conquers everything it changes you to be better and when you love your beliefs are stronger than ever....this is the best part of the movie hands down.words just cant explain how it feels when someome finally believes or accepts something when they are shown....even though he's dead and she couldn't bring him back...just knowing that he's been with her all this time even after death and that he still exist just breaks my heart every time I see this....I can never touch you again or feel you but i can only see you I will be with you until I go to heaven leaving you alone with new found hope that we will reunite in heaven in much happier place together at last forever.😢😢😢😢
I love this movie, and although I no longer like Whoopi, she was undeniably brilliant in this role. I know that it's a movie, but I always wondered why Sam didn't just pick up a pen and write Molly a note as soon as he learned how to touch things.
It’s one thing to push or poke and another to pick up and hold a pen and write. He did write Boo on the mirror, yes, but that didn’t require fine motor skills which I suppose would be so much harder to perform using your mind than gross motor skills.

Some films are so good, so brought to life by the actors you'd swear it was all fly on the wall. This is one of those films where everyone was so on point, so emotionally connected to their characters it's just felt so real - ironic, for a movie called Ghost. Incredible.
I think this scene shows that Molly finalllyyy trusts Oda Mae
"Tell her it's for luck." Sam says it's for luck.
This is really touching. It was the scene showed in the 63rd Academy Awards.
Flawless.
love the scene, makes me cry like a baby every single time....but when Sam leans down to move the penny you can clearly see his shadow.. Ghosts obviously can't produce shadows.
Why ever not ¿?
@@suzyqualcast6269 because shadows are only produced light being blocked by material objects.... Which Sammy is very well lacking.
I'm such an ugly cryer, how can she cry with such beauty ? x)
Choro até hoje vendo a cena. Perfeição!
Back when whoopie wasn't crazy 😂
Whoopi so earned that Academy Award here

R.I.P Sam Wheat Ghost 1952-1990
R.I.H Subway Ghost 1948 - - - 1990
I love this movie, and although I no longer like Whoopi, she was undeniably brilliant in this role. I know that it's a movie, but I always wondered why Sam didn't just pick up a pen and write Molly a note as soon as he learned how to touch things.
It’s one thing to push or poke and another to pick up and hold a pen and write. He did write Boo on the mirror, yes, but that didn’t require fine motor skills which I suppose would be so much harder to perform using your mind than gross motor skills.
1:52 Beyonce, its that you?
Lmao😅
