CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Oda Mae (Whoopi Goldberg) sets some ground rules if Sam (Patrick Swayze) wants her continued help.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
An interesting hybrid of popular film genres, Ghost showcases the talents of its entire cast. While out on the town one evening, New York couple Sam (Patrick Swayze) and Molly (Demi Moore) are confronted by a mugger. After submitting to his demands, Sam is murdered anyway. He then finds himself a disembodied spirit, invisible to the living world, wandering without hope until he finds a spiteful spirit aboard the subway (Vincent Schiavelli) who gives him some helpful pointers on how to co-exist. Soon Sam comes back into contact with those he knew in life, and he begins to learn piece-by-piece of his close friend and co-worker Carl's (Tony Goldwyn) embezzling plot which caused his death; the apparent mugging was, in fact, a premeditated murder. In the meantime, Carl has designs on Molly, and Sam is determined to extract revenge. He contacts a psychic (Whoopi Goldberg), and together, the two set out to serve justice and stop the maniacal Carl from getting to Molly. Blending comedy, romance, action, and horror, Ghost was a box-office smash and managed to garner five Academy Award nominations, including "Best Picture," "Best Supporting Actress" (Goldberg), "Best Original Screenplay," "Best Editing," and "Best Score"; Goldberg won her first Oscar.

"Molly, you in danger girl." ICONIC!
Have you seen the meme with the picture from this exact scene and it says America you in Danger girl lol referring to the elections.
+gabrielle g Yas!
Yep. This is her 'I'll be back' . You will instantly know who said it and in which movie.
It so is. I love that quote.
One of the most iconic lines in cinema history. Right up there "Frankly my dear".
“He got an attitude now” She makes this film all the more funnier. Iconic.
Funnier means more funny than before. So the word "more" is redundant.
@@radrook2153 oh my god lmfao I used the phase “all the more” grow tf up ‘professor’
Oh definitely. This film wouldn’t worth watching without her. It would be sad and depressing all the way through. She won an Oscar for this…well deserved
What about her attitude! 'I ain't your damn secretary' just precious
👏 that was awesome Katie
"Molly you're in danger" = NO
"Molly, you in danger girl" = YES
so iconic!!!! :'D
Another famous catchphrase
Christopher Palmer it’s called humor. Clearly you’re lacking in it if you don’t get it.
The difference between English and Ebonics.
this is literally how my parents talk to me when I'm in trouble ahah
“He’s apologized”. I love how she says that line, tone and gesture and all!
Yes me too I just love it
It sounded like shes still scammin. haha
Tell her : Molly, you're in danger
YOU CAN'T JUST BLURT IT OUT. IMMA SAY IT MY OWN WAY.
Molly, you in danger girl
JohnTheGospel: Haha!
Gurl! Not girl! LOL!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This scene alone is one of the most iconic moments of '90s cinema.
*UYY IDOL*
how
Uy lods
@@henrygonzalez4176 "how"? Well, Whoopi won Academy Award for this role. So that's one way, "how", this makes the most iconic moments in 90s cinema. Got it? Good! I'm glad you got it!
@@foul-mouthfarrah1158 being obnoxious loud mouthed stereotyped black lady? Okay thank you for confirming
"Molly, you in dainjah gurl." One of my favorite movie lines ever. :D
SAME!!!
Totally! And the best part about that line? It worked because of Whoopi's delivery. That kind of joke has been done a thousand times, yet she made it hilarious. Whoopi Goldberg does not get enough credit for how incredibly funny and talented she is.
Jon Thomas how does she not get enough credit? She won the damn Oscar for this, for God's sake!
musicaltheatergeek79 I'm aware of that, which is considerable credit for this particular role. If you read my post, I said she doesn't get enough credit for how funny and talented she IS. In other words, I'd like to see her doing more. I think she's amazing and I don't believe that Hollywood casts her nearly enough.
bluedasher74 granddaughter.
I love how during this scene, you can see Molly starts to slowly believe that Oda really is talking to Sam when she starts to argue with him. Because she’d probably had similar arguments herself with Sam and knows what he sounds like.
"He's apologized." lol
I can only imagine what Molly was thinking, cause she could only hear Oda Mae.
She smiled at one part of it
She probably wasn’t sure what to think.......
@@jamesroboyle probably not. she might have been thinking oda mae had some kind of mental illness. but she did seem drawn to the fact that oda mae knew really intimate stuff about molly & sam.
She thought she was crazy.
It's hard because Oda Mae was the only one that could see or hear him. I guess she'll have to go back to being a medium since Sam activated her powers.
"He wants me to tell you what he's saying WORD FOR WORD."
Oda Mae is the best part about this movie. Now that Whoopi's all that's left at "The View," I think she should do the whole show as Oda Mae. Ratings'll rocket.
+djmixnmagic she won the Oscar for this movie.
I'm all for that lol!
And I don't even watch the shit.
The very reason why they didn't want her, they thought she would steal the show. Patrick wouldn't do the movie without her.
@@maverickstyles9126 nobody cares what you watch.
Swayze said he wouldn't do the movie if Whoppi wasn't in it
I think Whoopi made up her own lines frfr
And he was right to, it wouldn't have been the same if Whoopi weren't in it
That was so sweet of him. Whoopi MADE this movie. Iconic
Why he didn't wanna do it without Whoopi?
@@aaronbell89 he respected her as a great actress which she is, and he thought nobody could've been more perfect than Whoopi as Oda Mae, he wanted to work with her badly and so he kinda threatened the production if she was not going to be cast as his supporting actor (Oscar to whoopi!!)
“He’s apologized.”
Whoppi is a comedic genius.
“He’s stuck..That’s what it is..He’s in between worlds..”
I aint no damn secretary!
Manu: Sister attitude...love it!
I’m like, would you please stop whining.
I admire women like Whoopi Goldberg lol
LMAO you beat me to it 😂😂😂
Haha!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
he's cute, white but cute
+piper scout I was like, "Racist much?!"
Come on you don't think that Black women don't like their White chocolate every now and then?
Knowing good and well she likes white men
piper scout What did she mean by that!?
@@jamesquinn3715 *she means she was trying to flip the script that has been going on in America that other white people say stuff like that all the time. "He is cute, for a black guy." So Whoopi modified that to let white people know how it feels to have a taste of their own medicine*
I came here just for the clip "You in dangah, girl!" But now I DEFINITELY want to watch the whole movie.
+Event Horizon Productions So did you watch it?
musicaltheatergeek79
most chaaa!
Event Horizon Productions Oml same, I wanna watch it because of Patrick mostly, but Whoopi sounds like a freaking riot omg 😂😂
Lol, same😂😂😂😂😂
the fact that whoopi had to pretend patrick wasn't in the room and she couldn't see him makes this scene 10xs more funny
Demi cut her hair before shooting started and the director was shocked. It ended up such an iconic look.
Patrick and whoopi are a great pairing, shame they didn’t get to do more films together.
"Molly you in danger girl" Probably she got an Oscar, because of this Iconic sentence!
"I ain't no damn secretary!"
This scene has too many fantastic one-liners.
This very scene is one of the reasons why I have watched this movie more than twenty times.
And yes, I know most of the lines by heart!
Mee 2 I love the movie love her I don't want to go to heaven I want to go to the bank and cash the GD check LOL hysterical
@@franceskajacobs2766 I watched "Ghost" at a time when I rarely, if ever, watched motion pictures. The fact that I wrote "motion pictures" instead of movies speaks volumes.
However, I think at this point I have watched "Ghost" roughly twelve or thirteen times, since it was released. There is no other motion picture I have watched that many times.
Also, I happily admit, I know most of Oda Mae Brown's lines by heart and gleefully say them along with her. Especially, "Molly...you in danger, girl." Yes, I IMMEDIATELY start cracking up!!
@@franceskajacobs2766 I stand corrected: more than twenty times.
@@RobertAlvarezThePsychicWitch This actually happened between me and my favorite college student we were extremely close, when I demanded she write something down she responded the same way
@@patriceaqa288 Oh, my Goddess! That is a RIOT!
America... you in danger girl
OMG that meme made me come here too!
Don't worry, Hillary won't win ;)
we shall not have another clinton in the white house! Never!
Hopefully we wont have a Trump in the white house
Devon Tillman Don't worry, Hitlery won't be allowed to turn this nation into a 3rd world hellhole.
The chemistry between Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg was just incredible they were definitely a dynamic duo, it made the movie even better
Molly....you in danger gurl! LMAO! Love it!
“His name is Willie Lopez..he’s a Puerto Rican..”
what does that have to do with anything? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Right, like where did that come from. I guess you gotta cut to the chase.
I guess to give more visuals
New York, America, 1980s.
To provide a visual on what Willie looks like
my favorite scene is sam and oda mae at the bank. lol
Four million dollars
Tens and twenties???
0:45 Molly’s face when Ora Mae starts going off on Sam. Lol
Molly is smiling at 0:35
Whoopi smashed this. One of the best comic performances on film ever. So glad the academy recognised her brilliance.
Her expression is just so so so natural funny 😂😂
Ghost was my mom's favorite movie, I never understood it. When I got older it became my favorite and Whoopi just kills it as Oda Mae Brown, I love her!
"I ain't no damn secretary!"
This is seriously the funniest scene in the film! "don't you take the Lord's name in veign with me" 🤣 "you'd better apologize!"
Funny as it is, mostly because of the subtle banter, "...he's Puerto Rican", I have it as the fourth funniest.
1. 4 MILLION DOLLARS!!!! and Oda Mae's expression of sadness, angst and anger at giving the check to the nuns.
2. I'm Henry the Eighth I am
3. Everything in the bank. But particulary Oda Mae's response to the banker's question in how would she like the 4 million: "Tens and Twentys." HAHAHAHAHA
I love this film !!! ❤🎬🍿
What's funnier is later she does take the Lord's name in vain when she didn't want to give the 4 million to the nuns 😂
Vain
I remember watching this for the first time when I was about 5 and being in stitches during the Whoopi parts!
"Yes. He wants me to tell you what he's sayin wOrD fOr WoRd" 🤣🤣 I don't know why the delivery of that line always kills me 🤣🤣
Sam: Write it down
Odemae: He wants you to write it down
Sam: No, you write it down
LMAO
"I ain't no damn secretary. He's so testy." lol
I watch this at least 10 times in a row every time i see it
"he's so testy" lol
love that part when Patrick swayze say Jesus Christ! and also when he said god! he got temper tantrum lmao!!!
I aint no damn secretary
Hes so testy 😂😂😂😂
Im glad she stand up for herself
But the whole film surprised me with the fact that she didn't had no guardians neither ancestors to protect her
The ghost harassed her and she was defenseless
"I ain't no damn secretary" HAHAHA! I love that line.
I had an assistant teacher in elementary school whose mannerisms and facial expressions were very similar to Whoopi's here. Brings back a lot of warm memories.
WHOOPI IMPROVISED THIS SCENE!!! FIERCEEEEE
She did...?
Yeah. Read the original screenplay.
@@crapolaist where'd u read it!
He's got an attitude now🤣Love when she says that. Love this movie!!❤
Feel out on that part
"He wants me to tell you what he's saying WORD for WORD" - with the eyes hahaha
I ain't no DAMN secretary! Best line
"I ain't no damn secretary" hahaha
I ain't no damn secretary. 😂😂😂
Imo, this was a well deserved Oscar for her! It's crazy that Patrick is in two of my favourite movies of all time and so sad that most of the cast is no longer with us, but I'm glad Whoopi still is. Whether or not you agree with her 'views' she will always be fondly known for this gem.
"I ain't no damn secretary" had me rollin 😂
I AIN'T NO DAMN SECRETARY,
✋👁👄👁☝
"I'll just tell her in my own way: Molly... you're in danger, girl!"
That's worth the Oscar per se 🤣🤣🤣
And The Oscar goes to the right person for once! Thank you Patrick for pushing Whoopi to be in this movie! She basically made it! Lol💕🙌🏾
Patrick made the right call.
@@treseancann1261 yes he did!!!!
He wants me to tell you what I say word for word. "Molly you in danger girl". Lol
I ain’t no damn secretary 😆😆😆😆😆😆
OMG im dead
Ghost prob would have won Oscar for Best Picture if it not for "Dances with Wolves" released late 1990.
What a year for great movies, starting with Pretty Woman, Green Card (with Andie MacDowell), and Dances with Wolves (too long at 3 1/2 hrs).
Home Alone came out same year too.
I love Whoppi so much.
Lmaooo “he’s got an attitude”
“Now you just can’t Blurt it out like that and quit moving around will you cuz you starting to make me Dizzy. I’ll just tell her in my own way!! (Whoopi) 😂😂😂😂😭
Patrick and Whoopi 😍😍😍😍😍😂😂
This one clip is worth watching many many times! They're all so perfect! Demi Moore is grieving. She has to be only slightly moved by all the personality of Whoopi, and the expressions of Swayze when Whoopi invents her story of why he came back...every move of his next and facial expression is exactly what people do instinctively when hearing someone give a haywire explanation! They're all three so loveable here! Moreso when you realize that they're all three, so deeply involved in this murder problem together!
Whoopi is simply AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
I just watched this Movie on Paramount Plus, I love it , I used to be scared of those Ghost’s when I was a kid, those Grim Reapers grab those men when they die
They are demons
I had a friend who was stuck in differents worlds he said goodbye two times to me. I feel he was in peace.
I remember the first time watching this as a kid, probably about 5 or 6, and roaring with laughter in all the Whoopi scenes - particularly this one.
Perfect cast 💜 😆 imagine all the bloopers and all the fun they had filming.
I love Whoopi's hair in this movie 🤗...not that I hate her Dreads...its just nice to see her real natural hair.
Such a sad movie, but Woopi made it so enjoyable!
I Love this Movie!!!! This is the reason why "Whoopi Goldberg" won Best Supporting Actress. So Awesome!!!!
“His name is Willy Lopez, he’s Puerto Rican” lmao freaking love that line
0:49 Sam shouts 'Jesus CHRIST!!!' 🤣
Whoopi makes this movie! I forgot how funny it is!
i loved whoopi's hair, she was really pretty in this movie
"He got an attitude now" and "He's so testy" 😆😂😍
I love it how the black woman is so calm and funny
I love whoopi as an actress, not as a politician in the view.
Damn she was here
Brilliantly speak her words.
" i ain't no damn secretary "
She really cracked me up lol.
It's been a long time since I've last seen this movie in full. Makes me wanna again. It's just so good. For old times sake ..
He's so testy lol
The most classic line ever. And hits the funny bone mad hard every time for just a five word sentence, “Molly, you in danger girl!”
0:11 she looks like a teenage boy
IDK but this was an early 90s look for women.. Martika, even Madonna did this look
“Molly..you in danger gurl’’
Whoopi is the star of this film👑
She won an Academy Award for that.
Molly’s like
WTF
Whoopi was ABSOLUTE MAGIC in this incredible role ✊️😂👍
"He's so testy!" 😂😂
Trivia: Demi beat out the likes of Michelle Pfeiffer for the Molly role bc of her ability to cry on cue.
Not only that, she could also control which EYE she can cry, left or right.
Her audition blew away the producers and director, they've never seen another actress with this ability.
If you look back, her crying scenes did make the audience grab their kleenex.
its not the being puerto rican that is the joke, it's funny because she adds it in to what he said :)
White, but cute 😂
August 2020, and I'm still here! Love all 3 of them. An amazing movie.
"he wants you to write it down"
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Love Whoopi
I ain't no damn secretary! 😂😂😂😂 Whoopi, you're a legend!❤❤
Whoopi added perfect comedy relief to this film.
“He’s apologizing” lol
ha.. oda mae made this movie...
Loved Whoopy so much in that movie
"Molly, you in danger, gurl" LOOOOOL 🤣
Whoopi’s greatest role. After this she squandered what little talents she had left...
“I ain’t no damn secretary” 😂😂😂😂😂
