Mademoiselle Alfred Carriere is an antique rose that is beautiful. You might also want to find Louis Phillipe d'Angers. It is not listed as a climber but mine is well over 10 foot tall. It is nearly thornless and flowers prolifically and constantly. They are deep red, double, with a heady rose scent, and very hardy. Plus, I've been able to just prune a sturdy stem, stick it deep in the ground, and have it successfully grow. As to the pendulum clock, mine does that when it is over wound. I just keep prompting it to swing again and eventually, it keeps going. Hope that works for you as well.

Dear Patrick and Stuart, I’m in love with everything behind you including your flowers and the table they’re sitting on. It’s such a beautiful display. Thank you for taking us on your visit to the chateau. The roses are beautiful and will bring you years of happiness! I laughed when you said you will be gilding the mirror, as if you have nothing else to do. My goodness, you are two very busy men yet you continue to smile, and seeing that you are both very happy, makes my day! I would love to see a tour of the ground floor rooms whenever you decide to do it as you’ve been collecting many lovely pieces to fill the rooms. Stay well, continue being happy and looking forward to your next video. xx

Good morning Stephanie. The roses are wonderful, all scented too. A must for me.😊. I always. Loved roses. I had over 40 different varieties in a garden I designed a long time ago and I was a teen then 😮.
My camera skills are not great but I might just film a tour of the current state of the ground floor. Hope it turns out well. 😂😂😂. Love your comment, as always, thoughtful and uplifting. Hugs from Colombe. ❤😊❤

The Thumbnail was hilerious.😂😂 Stuart the music was well added visiting the Chateau.🎻 It was like being at a Ball in Vienna💃 by the way I've visited this Chateau...it's beautilful. I think the flowers will look lovely in the garden next year. Like the items you bought pitty they painted over the gilding. Even having so much to restore I think that you both never had any regrets buying the Chateau and living in France. Hugs and kisses 🥰😘

Patrick and Stewart your backdrop is so beautiful and brings Spring into our lives even though it’s still very cold and wet here in Northern California.
You both are such charming and delightful to follow in your new journey of château life. Chuckled on your refilling task to go along with everything you already are doing.
The commode looks so nice . In time you’ll get the ground floor as you wish it to be… take your time ..
Thank you for taking us to the château, what a lovely garden and home. The roses will be a great addition to your garden. I can imagine vases filled with scented roses .

I know it's still in process but that's exactly why it's interesting to see, it's the process that's always interesting for anyone interested in interior design and how it comes togethet over time! 💕 Wonderful outings! Those iris varieties...
Lovely roses you bought, those will bring you joy in all the years to come!

I actually LOVE the older tools better made and easily refurbished and bought on a dime. I owned a preschool and needed tools constantly, I got everything I needed at garage sales. I knew good tools when I saw them because my Dad owned a tool and die manufacturing business and he was a car mechanic and a carpenter, he taught me everything he knew.
The chateau and flower sale was amazing. I miss gardening and garden centres at this time of year, so I am going to live vicariously through your gardens this year. 🥰 When I was really young the entire back of our house was covered in bright red climbing roses, it was stunning. We had a beautiful row of Snowball bush viburnum which were also stunning.
Your pretty and glamorous is coming for sure. With your perfect purchases, skills and eye for design there will be a certain splendor for you sit back and enjoy when all is said and done.
    Have an excellent week ahead!

Good morning Stuart & Patrick, your videos are as usual funny, you do seem to be so happy and so relaxed. I must say the opening of the video, it looks very grand with the mirror in the back and the candelabra are magnificent. Those flowers on the table are stunning. Your idea worked beautifully. It makes the table look more unique. The visit to Chateau de Cheverny was so lovely. I loved how they decorated their gardens, the ornaments in the trees and that bunny in the flower bed, it worked so well. Hopefully all the plants you bought will bring much pleasure to the eyes. Iris's are one of many favourites. The flower is extremely delicate. A grand choice with the roses. Chateaux's must boast with beautiful roses, climbers or other varieties. You did very good. A video of the other rooms will be nice, but understandably you are busy with projects, we will enjoy what you have accomplished. How is the kitchen floor progressing, once that is done, then perhaps you can start organising the kitchen cupboards, and while that all is going on, time is passing and it would be time for the stove to arrive, you should query the progress in the meantime!! Looking forward to the next video, a perfect end to the week. Do take care, be alert. Kind regards, Elize.

Stuart, bravo on the cinematography and musical interludes. Patrick, you had too much fun in that toolbox, making your selections; it reminded me of choosing ones favorite chocolates from a deluxe box. Château Cheverny is quite a home, and their flower selection was phenomenal. I can see how you could easily go bankrupt from plant purchases. All of you châtelain should get together for a swap meet to exchange plants, bulbs, cuttings, etc. to increase your gardens diversity and keep your costs down. Then, there will no longer be a need for "Robin Hoods."

    • @patrickjourneytothechateau9452

Hi there Edward……😊. You got me there. I loved that tool box. 👍🏻💕👍🏻. And to think all the people who have used them before.
Cheverny is fantastic. The upper 2 floors are empty (unused that is). No more scores of servants under the rafters and the many others who’d be working there every day. Cooks, gardeners, farmers……. And the extended family all living together.
I love your ideas of swaps g plants and cuttings. I will get cuttings going again soon. We have so many length of the property that need hedges. Swapping with other chateau owners….. fantastic.
      Hugs from Colombe. ❤😊❤

I used to work for an outdoor plant market and this vlog has made me homesick for the smells, the sunshine, the camaraderie amongst workers, the hard work that goes on behind the scenes setting up the flats of plant pots, the whiffs of spicy fragrant carnations and delicate miniature dianthus! Beautiful memories. What I don't miss are the aching muscles at the end of each day!

I did not visit Cheverny when I was in the Loire Valley but I did purchase a postcard of a room in which the walls were completely covered with blue and white porcelain, not just tiles but 3D objects, with the ceiling sporting an upside-down bowl. It was for a friend who loves blue and white porcelain. I thought the room was at Cheverny. Do y'all know? Don't forget that Cheverny is also the headquarters of cartoon doggie Milou and his human, Tin Tin. Stuart gave me a jump scare with that music and the shot of the Easter bunny. Loved the video. Swan--moat?, rubber duckies in their lazy river. Leave it to us dog lovers to find the dogs at places. I see you are back to your funny thumbnails from the chateau hunters days. Love it!

The thumbnail was hilarious. Now that it is spring, there will be lots of nurseries and pop-up plant sales. Every year I buy less as the heat waves we have kills everything. I am not that healthy for gardening these days, but I do like the gigantic geraniums as they tolerate the heat and do well when not watered regularly.
Your spring bulbs turned out beautifully.
I like your new acquisitions, the commode, the clock, the candelabras, etc. Tony will fix that candelabra in a jiffy.
The Chateau you visited is beautiful. I love the modern art and the eggs that grow on trees. LOL.Peter rabbit looked very handsome. 😅
Best wishes and love to you both and the fur babes from Canada.

Hi guys, wonderful video I so enjoyed it, you are both such a pleasure to watch, I loved the Chateau and the plants and your purchases are gorgeous, I know your Chateau has a long way to go before it’s been renovated to the way you would both like it to be, but I’m in love with it’s pure charm, warts an all and I’m so looking forward to the journey of making it beautiful once again, much love to you both xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx😘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Lovely as always. ❤ You know I love some shopping! Though, that looked more like a flea market than a brocante. I love that you stopped to say hello to the little dog.
How fabulous is Chateau de Cheverny?? My goodness that’s a big house! Is this plant market a regular thing? Brilliant way to diversify and make good use of their grounds.
No tulips here yet. The bulb plants are just starting to break through right now. At least all of the snow has finally melted off. Spring is coming! 🌷
Big hugs to you both. ❤❤

Hoping for a lovely spring for you. Soon! ❤. It was quite a mix and more flea market. Indeed. That Beagle was so cute. The upper 2 levels are basically empty. Where there were once 30 maids and valets there is now all quiet….. 😮. The market is once every spring for charity. We are thinking about offering our grounds to the Rotary club for a spring plant show. But first kitchen and bathroom above the kitchen. Love to you and enjoy this first spring in your new home. 😊😊😊

Very warm greetings from New Zealand 🇳🇿 to u both. The background where u were sitting at home in yr Chateau looked stunning. U have great taste and once yr kitchen is completed u can decide on the wall treatment/colour u want in the Grand Salon it will be stunning. I have always admired yr adventurous spirit and how u uped sticks and moved 2 🇫🇷 France. Takes a lot of courage/planning.
We have been watching yr vlogs since the beginning when u were viewing chateaus. There has been a lot going on in our lives so I have not been sending comments however we do watch yr vloggs each week.
    Fondest regards 2 u both. Victoria & Richard 👱‍♀️😎

I hope you can rebalance the pendulum (or whatever it needs)! My daffodils are blooming and we are getting some rain. (We need it, it was a dry winter.)

The white marble portico clock is a nice piece, from circa 1800 (I have a model which is quite similar), obviously the Paris movement needs servicing by a professional, which unfortunately is a vanishing business, but there should be someone in Bourges. The commode with the curvy shapes is in Louis XV style. Cheers!
