  • This week we have this awesome little sports car in for a cambelt change! not too complicated but extremely tight for space! I worked on these a lot in the early 2000s and i'd forgot how akward they were to get on the ramp!

Great video and nice to see a Lotus.
I've shared on FB to one of the Lotus groups 😉

Awesome thank you, it's so hard to gain an audience when dealing with so many different makes!

I would recommend changing the brake hoses on this car. Mine looked similar (original with rusty fittings) and one burst after its MOT. Rubber was 25 years old in hindsight.

I'll be sure to suggest that on the next service. Thanks for watching 😁

Great video cheers for sharing. Cambelt will go through the engine mount by loosening both bolts and threading through one bolt at a time.

Nice video. Wish I'd seen this before starting my own! Took me ages to work out where to lock the crank with the Allen key from written guides and close up pictures. I'd recommend the cam locking tool though, especially for any home mechanics.
It would have been really good with just a tiny bit more detail, for example where you placed the jack to support the engine and how you bled the coolant system.
Still, easily the best video I've seen showing the process. I'll be linking this on a couple of forums.

Thanks for watching, yes the cam locking tool would have made the job alot easier and I'd get one if I was to do another. But was still do-able! It's a balance to keep these videos from full in depth how-to's and keeping them entertaining for the masses, but I'm glad it still showed you lots of pointers 👍

Always undo the engine mount bolts and drop engine down to get better access to the pulley bolt

I am pretty sure you get the right hand side of the belt and then the pump and tensioner side so you do not lose your timing marks . Nice work though .

Access was the big problem with this job, you could either see it, or touch it, but not both at the same time!
