I have had my Autel X-Star Premium for about 6 months now and what a very impressive set of features and reliability. I cannot give this drone enough compliments. The quality of the camera, ease of flying, exceptional return to home feature and the range of operation just hits it out of the park. It is very important to calibrate the compass and should be followed especially when taking this to new locations. I do need to look into possible lens filters for the camera as when flying in certain light conditions this will help reduce lens flare when shooting into the sun and to help tone down highlights. Cannot wait to see what Autel has in store with new replacement camera options!
Do you still have this or the battery? My battery died after 7 yrs. Can’t find one anywhere.

In the U.K. we can't use them over populated areas under 400 feet. Can you please show a video of what can be seen from 400 feet? Thanks!
Try doing some photogrametry with it. Things like trees are normally not possible due to the fact you cant get up high enough to take full 360 on the top on the tree but some VFX/Game studios have started using 4k drones and scanning full buildings/cliffs and trees. I do normal ground based scans and Its pretty fun and fairly easy once you know what the solver is looking for. A full Tree scan with this could be all sorts of fun and pretty epic!
Is live feed laggy at 1km for example? Should I get this one or P3Advanced?
I got one for sale in Orlando/sanford area FL. 700 obo with two batteries, rarely flown never crashed.

Wow upon further research the Autel camera has realy awesome Video Compression. Handles reasonable speed panning and object motion realy well with not massive nasty compression artifacts & blocks. But it looks like you could easily screw that up in the wrong settings, lighting and movements. As long you understand the limitation it seems to be better than most built in drone cameras. Best compression i've seen soo far from a mpeg based video drone.
does it have any kind of sensors? like so I don't fly it into a wall or something
Hate to be that guy, but at 2:56 you're flying over an active street. As a racing/acro drone enthusiast myself, I always try to fly with the understanding that my flying blender could fall out of the sky at any minute for any reason. In this case, were you to have a sudden mechanical failure, like an ESC burning out, a prop flying off, or a bird hitting/attacking the drone, you run the very real risk of it crashing into either a car below, or worse, a person walking on the sidewalk. Don't be that guy who gets in the news for braining someone with a drone, even if it was totally accidental. Please don't.
I love to see other reviews and input from people who normally do not fly R/C ( or at least i don't know anyone else on the Crit TV channel that does) but you do get them doing flying the drone illegally, like over the city buildings and roads. also like the "they recommend you keep it insight". PLEASE READ FAR part 107 BEFORE YOU BUY ONE OF THESE AND FLY IT.

did you have any sort of issue with the video or the drone disconnecting while flying? I'm thinking on buying a drone and the XStar seems like a good option but I saw a review and the guy said it had some issues loosing GPS signal and video.

Thanks for the chance to win a great prize. As for the video man that looked like fun. A drone is one of those toys I wanted but kept not buying for fear of crashing it and destroying it easily. It seems to fly like a helicopter and those are not so easy to fly. As for the color of the drone yeah they did pick the right color for sure for you to locate it. As for the 4K camera it is cool but only shooting in 30 FPS well I guess that is fine. It is above that cinematic 24 FPS mark. : ) In regards to using a phone with it eh can one use a tablet attached to it to view things? I have no interest in a smart phone. Anyway after firing off rockets and crashing large remote control airplanes with my son we need to win this so we can have some more aerial fun. Oh and as for the battery so it only can keep the thing up there for 30 minutes? Eh how many batteries do they include? Also if you want to buy extras how much are they?

Obselete by todays standards but I used to own an Xstar Prem and sold it but I surely miss that thing. Man it had a lot of power and was a SUPER nice machine.

Other than being confused about MOV versus MP4 I cannot exclaim enough about this super drone and video system. I also have to say, as it had beensaid bu others...they have the best customer service bar none!

It seems good for what it is. I don't think the video quality is all that good, most of the new higher end cellphones can do better but it isn't terrible. Price is competitive but not a mind-blowing deal. Sits at a weird price between intro level drones and higher quality.

No, my phone doesn't fly. If we're going to be pedantic, then neither does the camera mounted to the drone, the drone itself is doing the flying. My comment was made with regard to Logan's comment of the camera's quality being better than a cellphone and less than a dslr. 4k video from phones like the S7 and Pixel is, at least in my opinion, better than what the included camera produces.
