Imo aristocracy doesn't really inherently mean anything. People are born into it. It's the actions one makes and what they earn in life that truly determines who they are, and this guy was a gambling degenerate and probably murderer.
I remember reading that LL was such a terrible gambler he used to bet (a years wages) on raindrops running down the surface of a window

I did hear a theory that Lucan almost certainly dealt with the criminal world during his gambling career, and they would not be happy when Lucan skedaddled after his murder plot went sour, and you do NOT cheat the English mobs. So, they probably got rid of him in time honored style, and let the fishies at him.

Lord Lucan is disguised , wearing a wig and glasses & working stacking shelves in my local 1£ shop.
His wife did indeed make that very macabre and oddly specific joke about a boat propeller. I always thought she knew more than she was letting on, likely someone 'handled it' and she never knew the full details.
She was a complete nutjob and committed "auto-unaliving" in 2016 after self-diagnosing with Parkinson's Disease. Never even saw a doctor, just decided that's what she had (later postmortem testing showed she probably didn't) and time to go, goodbye. She was 80 years old at the time, which underscores just how young everyone involved was when this first happened.
And any 'sightings' of Lucan in Africa can be chalked up to his spookily similar lookalike brother, who lived in Africa since forever.

This is the first time I heard the account of how Lady Lucan escaped. It sounds like regardless he killed the poor nanny. However something does not ring true there beyond that. Besides her claiming he never believed she was mentally ill. Then the next thing stated is to list off an untreated mental illness. There was a frenzied attack Lady Lucan claims to have instinctively grabbed his testicles and it stopped. He then realizes the person he killed was not his wife. Yet instead of finishing her off after she releases her grasp he helps her to the restroom in order to check her injuries? Noteworthy is essentially right after Lord Lucan left was in a perpetual argument with all three of her children who only lived with her a very short amount of time. Disinheriting them along with no communication for her last 30+ years.
He was guilty. Fact
