      @@radar0412 - What's your alleged point? The numbers and record book don't lie....the ONLY thing Jack surpassed Tiger at is 18 vs 15 majors. Jack trails Tiger in EVERY OTHER significant performance category - in fact, in many of them Tiger laps Jack. Its not really close.

      @@radar0412 - no problem...its a free country, so anyone can adopt their own individual motto or "ruling." Unfortunately, don't think your motto will be adopted by the masses after a wide selection of historians compile the numbers, history and story lines.
      Tiger's off the field marital selection mistake and subsequent infidelity are well documented and publicized. Less publicized is Jack's resistance or at best complacency in the 1960's and 70's to the wide PGA tour policies barring many non-whites from tour participation. As the biggest name in the sport during his prime, Jack did little to nothing to change the historical exclusionary racial practices of his sport, choosing instead to support the attitude of his mentor Bobby Jones, a proud Georgia Segregationist whose "Masters" tournament infamously was the epitome of PGA/USGA racism. Woods in 1997 and afterwards did more to move Augusta, the PGA, and the USGA past its hardcore backwards intransigence than ANY prior PGA golfer. Ironic that this same PGA tour that now has its world dominance formidably threatened by billions in Saudi LIV funds, and while many of the PGA's top pros have bolted for heftier paychecks, it is Tiger Woods, the biggest name in the sport, standing by the PGA - something the PGA and its membership Country Clubs for years refused to do for golfers who looked like Tiger Woods, especially of prior generations.
      After Nicklaus' death, look for golf historians and writers to more fully discuss Jack's fervent campaign support for convicted rapist, 18-felony convicted Business Tax cheat, 91-felony indicted co-conspirator, and serial adulterer, Donald Trump. Trump's 40 year infidelity to his three wives has been well documented and bragged about by Trump, making whatever Woods did look like peanuts. Jan 6th convicted insurrectionist "Proud Boys" testified that they were following their leader, Donald Trump. Nicklaus' written and campaign appearance support for such immoral leadership will get more detailed scrutiny once he is deceased and fear of offending the "Golden Bear" has dissipated.
      Both players won a lot of championships, but both also have their shortcomings on and off the golf course. We will see what "ruling" history makes regarding who is the greatest champion.

Surpassing Jack seems like such a longshot now, but Tiger owns the record for the most PGA victories ever (excluding team events). He's the greatest ever, in my opinion, even if he never picks up a club again. I'm so appreciative that I got to see his talent play out for his entire career.

      He owns literally every other record the game has ever seen.

    • @waldolydecker8118
      @waldolydecker8118 6 месяцев назад +2

      You and your family would pray to have Tiger's "self-destructed" results: Even if he NEVER wins another tournament...(1) already a Billionaire, and smart investments will keep him set for eternity (2) 82 PGA wins, tied for most in history and achieved in a shorter period of time and against a far diverse and tougher field of competitors than Sam Sneed, (3) 15 Majors, second only to Nicklaus and the only significant PGA tour stat that Nicklaus still surpasses Woods - the other couple of dozen, Woods has already surpassed Jack, often lapping Jack along with the others.
      Get off your high horse and your fairy tale ending...life rarely is storybook. What usually happens is you have to take the good with the bad. Dragnet's Jack Webb only wanted the facts...what was done, and what wasn't done...all the pontification about what "coulda, woulda, shoulda" is speculative nonsense. Just the facts accomplished on the field of play is what matters...the rest is speculative conjecture. What are the facts taken from the field of play you ask? The record book is clear....without needing to do anything else, Woods is already the most accomplished PGA golfer in history. Its not an emotional choice; remove the emotion and go step by step and compare the PGA numbers across the board...its not even close.

      Unfortunately Tiger crashed his car, again, and this time shattered his leg into a million pieces, thus unceremoniously ending a career that -may- have seen him win a few more tournaments, and, with a bit of luck- maybe even a major or two.
      Anyway, those dreams got taken out the back behind the woodshed and put down, and El Tigrè has only himself to blame for that.

      Amazing to look back at this and know that Tiger’s personal life during this period was a near constant orgy of lies, sex, and infidelity. It’s astonishing he dominated to level he did while keeping his behind the scenes demons off the public radar for years. The sheer amount of effort and stress that must’ve taken, combined with the maintaining of his physical, mental, and swing form to continue winning at the pace that he did, a pace that may never been seen again...
      the mind boggles.

      My comment was making the (clear) point that Tiger had an ENORMOUS amount of self-generated turmoil, lies, and deceit going on during some his most dominant years, yet it seems to have had little effect on his performance (on the course). Meaning that he was able to juggle the many, many, dirty little secrets he kept - any number of which could’ve been a nuclear bomb if discovered - and be able compartmentalize them Thursday thru Sunday each week at a level not many achieve.
      Yes, the juggling act eventually DID fail, and the nuclear bomb exploded in spectacular fashion and the wind in his sails started to wane.
