You have totally nailed this build Matt, the choice of parts, the colour co-ordination, the tasteful angle of the seatpost, you couldn't make changes to improve it even with a blank cheque, awesome Matt 💯👌
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood Beautiful build! So nice to see that you finally got the new stem! But I do have one pet peeve. When are you going to properly balance the tires on those skyways.?? I know it’s a little bit of a pain on mag wheels. But it’s easy to fix. ☮️💜😊
Great finish for a long awaited build. I had a Acs rotor on my 87 Predator Freeform bike, it was a blast to perform tricks like the Pros and get a mini competition going between friends.
Those Predators were so rad, awesome that you had an ACS Rotor on it! And I love the visuals of you and your buddies having a mini competition back in the day. How cool !!!🙌
The one of the two main issues with the ACS rotor was the stem height, which would lead to bent stem shafts and too much front end flex. The other kicker was your back brake would loose power, when you reversed your bars 180 that's why people stop using them! Nice build, I would love a 91 Homeless Soul Bro.. But there so rare!
Nice video, sir! The ACS Rotor is pretty archaic, when compared to the Odyssey Gyro, both in terms of design and braking power… but you’re totally right about the nostalgia. The pink Trick Star, H stem and rotor bring back a flood of memories!! 👏
Great edit Matt very informative. The western H stem is def pretty. I think as a kid my hutch had a defunct ACS rotor on it and I never knew how to get it operational.
I got caught up in the Gyro wave in 87 and swapped my ACS rotor on my Diamond Back Hot streak (MIKE D) Signature. Then I noticed everyone with the Gyro and the poor rotor faded away. I love How you keep this Hutch looking original despite it being a Re-pop. freaking Awesome man!!!
Thanks so much. I wanted it to be as much like the ones I wanted back in the day, without causing me to completely go broke. I think the compromises worked out. Mike D Hot Streak!!!! 🤩 🙌
Love the bike and the tech talk. Im a loyal third hander, still have the one i bought as a kid. People bash on the Rotor but they work killer of you take the time to dial em in
Thanks so much! Yeah, I totally get the gyro is better, but it’s not “that” much better than a well tuned rotor. Seems like rotors get more shade than they deserve 🤣
Thanks! I don’t remember if I said so in the video, but I know those are racing pedals, but Hutch made freestyle bear traps that were basically the exact same, but the sharp points were flattened. From a looks perspective, I thinks they are fine, but I’ve been thinking about swapping them out for some white grafights
That handle bar almost hit your head bro, lol. Bike loos awesome now, congrats on that last and final piece, sheesh it took forever. I rode my pro compe that i havent ridden in 2 months today and my pft right after and my RL20II yesterday. Prob ride the haro master tomorrow
Btw that a big tire wobble on the back mag but im sure you ficed it by now if you rode it. I got my ties dialed and perfect on my pererprince mags that you cant tell your riding on mags cause they are now and new tires and innertubes.
Great beautiful bike I have a 86 green diamond back on. The free wheel is locked up for some reason. Any suggestions. Also I got a blue 87 nos frame set never assembled diamond back hot or cool streak mike d in strorage. Would love to build one day.
Thanks! For the freewheel, I’ve never serviced one myself. But RJ The Bike Guy on RUclips always has helped videos. If you search for the title, “Single Speed Freewheel Overhaul - Disassembly/Assembly” then this video will probably show you what do.
My understanding is that the Windstyler was a more entry level alternative to the Trick Star, coming in at around $250 vs. $800 back in the day. It was a great bike for the price and well regarded, but just not as premium as other Hutch bikes. The frame was still 4130 chromoly, but had some obvious differences in the design….
It’s crazy that stem was $300 when you can get a top of the line stem for what $100 that looks basically the same except for the badging .. isn’t nostalgia a bitch .. lol

Thanks so much for the kind words. It was a long time coming, but totally worth it 🙌

With the new Hutch stem on, now your Trick Star really looks absolutely PERFECT ! 👍
Awesome! Of course, I totally agree 🤣 Thanks for the kudos. 🙏
Three years in the making!!
It’s crazy that it took so long, but I’m stoked to have it complete!!

Hey Matt so glad that it finally came true! We are so happy for you!
Awesome!!! Thanks so much for the support ❤️🙏

It finally came!!! RAD!
Yahoo!! Rad indeed. So stoked the wait is finally over!! Totally worth it :)

Awesome! Hank’s for chiming in! Great memories indeed 🙌
Sweet bike. Glad you got it completed. Enjoy all that awesomeness!
Thanks so much!!! Feels good to be able to enjoy it as I had dreamed it up. 🧞
Dude….looks awesome…happy you finally got it the way you wanted it!
Thanks so much!! It was a long time coming, but I'm stoked with the end result. 😎
Great edit Matt very informative. The western H stem is def pretty. I think as a kid my hutch had a defunct ACS rotor on it and I never knew how to get it operational.
Thanks Jim! Interesting about your experiences with the old rotor. How did we ever learn to fix stuff without the internet back in the day 🤣

That's the best bike ever ..Hutch Trick Star...!!!
It was my dream bike, for sure 🙌💯
Love it, awesome build 👍🏻🍻🇬🇧
Beautiful build my friend, It looks Trick. You need to ditch those bear traps though there more for racing.

@TheNostalgicNeighborhood ha ha Strangely enough I was going to suggest Graphites I didn't realize they did them in white, that would look amazing
Great video! Zip Ties works well to clamp those brakes down too.
Thanks! Zip tied is a great idea. I’ll have to try that next time. 🙌
Love that bike! Great job!
Thanks so much! I’m loving it too ❤️💯👊
Beautiful! 10/10!
Vans kool stop pads
I’ve got regular Kool Stops on there, but yeah… I should totally get the little Vans shoe shaped ones 🙌
@TheNostalgicNeighborhood they just look so cool I had them on my bike in the 90s

Thanks, yeah… forever is an understatement 🤣 Great to see you riding your bikes! Have you been riding that Wellinder much?
Rad !
Thanks! 🙏
Great beautiful bike

Congratulation. I bought an extra JDB stem just to have it. You never know...
Smart move! 🙌
I'm guessing you will be at Classic Car Studio on 8/3?
Most likely 🙌
Does anybody know the difference between the Trickstar and the Windstyler?
I been lookn for a Windstyler but can't find really :/
My understanding is that the Windstyler was a more entry level alternative to the
Trick Star, coming in at around $250 vs. $800 back in the day. It was a great bike for the price and well regarded, but just not as premium as other Hutch bikes. The frame was still 4130 chromoly, but had some obvious differences in the design….

💯 I totally hear you. That GT mallet knockoff that I replaced it with was $25 and it was totally solid. Just didn’t play the part. 🤣
Kashimax seat = Sterile guy. 😂
Haha! Yeah, it’s not the most comfortable seat, that’s for sure 😂
I'd much rather have to utilize stronger brakes and have a rotor over a gyro anytime.
There's just something cool about the rotor!!
