Cheers, enjoyed that a lot. Every morsel of comparison was brilliantly presented....'not sure if the camera will get this.' Boo & then the camera gets it Yes! Haha. Learnt a lot. The 44', 10mm dropouts & the flattened chain stay. Tidy.👌💥👍

Great video Adam, that chrome build was quality. Must be the longest rear brake lugs in BMX ? 📐

I am in the process of building one up. The ONE thing that I don’t like, is that you’re pretty much locked in to the 44 16 ratio. Especially if you want to run mags. 9 tooth mags only come with 14mm axles, and these have 3/8 dropouts. Not a big deal as I was planning an old school build anyway, but would’ve been nice to have the option.

You can always do what they did back in the 80s and 00s and 'slot' the axles on the rear wheel.

@@alansbmx True, but for the amount of riding I do these days. 44/16 is fine. As long as I can throw out the occasional infinity roll and some front wheel hops. I’m fine haha

If i decided to use a rear Caliper Brake instead of a U-Brake would it give you enough play with a 25/9 or44/16 gearing ?

With the caliper mounted through the hole in the rear of the frame on the underside the caliper brake will hit the welded on lugs for the U-Brake. With it mounted on top you will have plenty of adjustment even if the wheel is far back in the drop out for the pads to touch the rim. (We tested this using an MX1000 Dia-Compe Caliper)

    Sayeth the STREETBEATBEAST

NO TEAR DROP TUBING on the new bike. "IT'S NOT A REAL STREETBEAT, WITHOUT TEAR DROP TUBING!" Just a glorified Street Styler.

I was thinking that it looks like an ‘88 Street Styler painted up as an ‘85 Street Beat. Interesting they went with the plate at the seat tube. I remember the team used to complain the frame would break there.

Ya, it's a FRANKENSTEIN..The most popular and SOUGHT AFTER BEATS are the 1986/1987 TWO TONES with the HEAVY METAL GRAPHICS. I guess someones "phoning it in"/ "half assin it".

Even if it had teardrop tubing and was made exactly the same it would still be seen as a lesser copy to the original
