I’m one of those who watched Bonanza when it first came out. I loved watching the Boys fall in love and hoped each time it happened that the romance would end with wedding bells. Hoss was wonderful with kids and watching Adam with Peggy and Jody…The Jacknife is one of my favourites…was bliss. I agree with you totally re living vicariously by watching our favourite Cartwright man playing the role of husband and father. But, I agree with the other two comments. Laura would never have filled the bill for Adam. The women chosen by our favourite guys had to be worthy.
I think it would have been an improvement if at least Adam married, but not to Laura. At his age, even in just the years he was on the show, it didn’t make sense that the character didn’t put more effort into becoming a husband and father in his own house somewhere on the Ponderosa.
I agree. Again using Ruth as an example, he proposed to her in season 2. He expressed an interest in marriage as early as then. I truly believe he wanted a family.
@@BonanzababeYes, Ruth would be a great fit! We only met her once, but even that was enough to see she was strong, resourceful, and the couple had chemistry.
I have done a separate video about who their best loves were in my opinion and also one about Laura.I wanted to focus on Fatherhood in this one, but I will say my top pick for him was Ruth. I will talk more about Regina and Sheila when I cover those episodes. Stay tuned. ☺️
Of all the women Ann and Regina were Adams equal. I would have loved it if they got married. The possiblities would have been endless.Thank god for fanfiction.
I agree with all the comments made regarding this episode. Adam in particular should have married, maybe to Ruth or Regina. There was great chemistry with both of those women. Also they clearly needed a new generation of Cartwrights! That was one of the reasons for bringing Jaimie into the show. But I never understood the storyline. Why didn’t they dye his hair black and introduce him as Adam’s son. Perhaps Adam sent him to the Ponderosa to learn the family business. I think that would have been more believable
Very insightful video and to answer your question, 100% yes!! I would have loved to see the Cartwright's get married and have families of their own. I would have even loved to see it happen with Candy! Lol. It's crazy to me that fans reacted the way they did to the idea. But I agree I think it might have had more to do with the fact that fans just didn't like Laura for Adam and I agree. Had Laura been better written, I might have gone for it. I preferred Adam with Ruth, I thought she was perfect for him. There were a lot of other women that I thought would have been a better fit for Adam than Laura, but Peggy was still adorable, lol. But yeah, just imagining Ben interacting with his grandchildren just melts my heart thinking about it. 🥺 I so wish they would have done it but it is what it is and yes justice for Alice!! Lol. I just loved her and Joe together and I loved seeing Joe married however brief it was. It did give you a glimpse into what it could have been like for one of them. And yes the women would need to be better developed first in order for it to work. And I believe it would have worked. But oh well, there's always fan fiction, lol. I've written my own fan fiction stories with Alice alive and happily married to Joe and she had the baby. #justiceforalice 😁😂
As always, thank you for taking time to watch the video and leave a great comment! Yes, Candy had a couple that I would have enjoyed seeing him end up with as well. Too bad we'll never know what would have happened if Adam had met Ruth in a later season when Pernell was talking about leaving. I respect what they were trying to do with the sequel movies where they each had kids. It had some problems though, I admit. I'd love to read your fanfic! I'm behind on reading things that fans send me, but I'd love to get to yours when I can.
I definitely wish they would have been married in the show. I never understood the fans not wanting this. I am working on a fan fiction novel to break the Cartwright curse :)
@kimmoore8266 Unfortunately, when I originally looked it up to make sure the spelling was correct, it not only told me "jip" was correct, but never mentioned the problems with the word. Looking it up now, it confirms the problematic connotations. Thanks, Google. 🙄

I'm so glad to get a comment like this! It restores my faith in how the Fandom would have reacted.
@@Bonanzababe And we would have had Adam longer!
@@kimmoore8266 I feel that he would have stayed the entire run of the show!
@@Bonanzababe What an enormous loss for us, his fans. Sigh 💔
If the boys got married, poor Pa would be roaming around the ranch with just Hop Sing! Ha
Not bad so far. Then he'd have tons of grand babies to chase....meaning Hop Sing would chase them.🤣

I think if Adam had married The lady from The Hopefuls or Sheila it would have been ok , but Laura was never acceptable.

@@BonanzababeI’m drawing a complete blank on who is Sheila!
@@teresamadan7978 Sheila is from "My Brother's Keeper"
@@Bonanzababe Thank you! I forgot all about her. IMO, Adam’s perfect match (besides me of course) was Ruth.
@teresamadan7978 I love how you slipped in that other option. Haha

@@AlyssaSanders-e7g fanfic is how we cope. 😅
Ouch. Maybe don't use words you don't know. It's "gyp" which unfortunately has its roots as a reference to being swindled by gypsies.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention. The title and thumbnail have been changed. I honestly did not know the history of the word.
@@Bonanzababe I didn’t know this either. 😮
