Just brought this for my hubby for our upcoming Anniversary. I feel you are so perfect in your unboxing. Im sure it will help him a lot. So yes, your video is part of his anniversary gift to understand the assembling of this printer. Thanks a "NICE" bunch!
Others have commented on the involved process of conversion as well. Easy workaround: Stick magnetic foil under the laser base and the sacrificial plate of the mill and pop them onto the steel plate of the print bed. The magnets are strong enough to resist the lateral forces of the puny mill. You lose some Z-workspace, but you'll hardly ever use all of that in those processes anyway. You also have to be careful with the mounting screws you use to clamp your CNC work, as these can poke all through the MDF and damage the print bed. As for print quality: I have actually found that the 'fast' setting produces the nicest looking Benchy. Thinner layer heights may be stronger, but surface quality is best on 'fast' in my book. Also be careful when cleaning that print bed. It has a coating that does not stand up to pure IPA. And bed levelling is a can of worms, as you will find out should you ever use the whole print space. There apparently are workarounds published on the Snapmaker Forum, but I haven't gotten around to try these yet.
I've been looking in to SO many products and comparisons... I've even seen the pros and cons to the snapmaker... But seeing your success with it out of the box..?! SOLD! I'll be making a purchase soon!
Just got mine and I am using a coffee break to watch your video. Thx and great job. Like you showed, feel of the parts is insane and building it is very easy and straight forward. I'll get to it again now and get my shop vac ready for the cnc test. Thanks again for the video. Keep them coming.
loved the video, i bought mine from Amazon and got it next day, your way to present it makes it fun to watch and very informative, going to start opening mine up now
I have one of these as well (a350), but I had a load of problems. One, my heated bed did not work at all, it always shows -15°C to -13°C. Two, 3D printing with the provided filament was not working, it would always clog in the middle of the print. And three, bed adhesion was like superglue. However, the support team at Snapmaker is sending me a new bed, I have new filament (PETG), and the bed adhesion was solved with an update. Now the only problem I am having is PETG prints will bend while printing, ruining the whole print, I am assuming that will be fixed with a heated bed. The support team at Snapmaker was great and I am expecting the bed soon. Note: I highly recommend getting the enclosure, it is massive, but it muffles most noise quite well, however, you will always hear the power supply as it is outside of the enclosure. The enclosure keeps the mess at a minimum as well, something that will come in useful while CNC carving. The enclosure also has a venting system for laser engraving and printing with materials such as ABS, however, I would recommend getting a longer duct. Above all, the enclosure is another fun assembly process and is very high quality.
33:00 That's why they call it a waste-board. it goes to waste, and yes, it is normal you cut into it. These boards are usually made from MDF. And if you worry about getting a new one with the necessary holes and such... you can make a fresh one with the CNC machine itself (and possibly some hand-drilling for the holes it cannot reach). Easy peasy! Also: if you don't have build-in dust suction, make sure to get your vacuum cleaner at the ready before the dust reaches your laptop and gets sucked in by its cooling system! It wouldn't be the first CNC-computer that gets killed by overheating because it's all clogged up with dust.
If you're cutting through your material, not engraving it, you're supposed to use a thin layer of sacrificial material under the piece you''re cutting. Not cut the bed.
Can’t wait to finally get mine. I finally got notification that it is on its way and this answered a lot of the questions of what I’m actually going to get with mine
Here’s a fun game for you... Every time I say ‘Nice’ take a drink of your favourite alcoholic beverage.... Trust me, by the time you finish this video you’ll think you’re Alice in Wonderland trying to stuff a mouse holding an umbrella into a teapot.
Nice review, you should also show us their software too. I wanted to get one for myself on Christmas, I changed my mind after watching this. The only problem for me is it take so long to replace the function, I hate screws lol. I think I will get 3 separated machines with almost the same price.
Agreed, but I imagine you could design and print a quick release mechanism fairly easily. For the software I had planned another video covering it but didn't get to it before I lost the printer... boooo.
Gonna get myn tomorrow, man i am so pumped! However, i did order the F350 version wich is quit, and has some improvements over the normal A350 version. later on i gonna buy the other modules. Great video!
we bought one and as soon as we turned it on the 3d printer module blew up. pretty sure it was either an electical short or the circuit board failed. pluged in the laser module and the laser is one 100% of the time. having a hard time finding trouble shooting information
Hey man great video! How was the software experience though? Especially for 3d printing. Was it proprietary can you use any slicer you want are you limited as far as 3d print settings are concerned?
Omg you are comical. You made the whole video very interesting to watch. Wish you would have said how long it took for the last 2 projects to finish. Also what was that black material? Is it just plastic? Thanks for the awesome video.
GR8 Video 👍 Did the laser cutting tools/accessories come with the machine...or did U have 2 pay xtra? How deep will it cut? R U from the UK? Was Shipping expensive? Apologies 4 all the questions
Hey, thanks. Yes, it comes with everything you need. I am from the UK, not sure about the shipping as I was sent it for review. For cutting depth, it depends what function you mean, theres a bunch of info here on the snapmaker site, perhaps that will help? www.snapmaker.com/product/snapmaker-2/specs :)
This AiO is amazing. I would love one....but the changing of the plates for each head is absurd. The bed should either ALL be magnetic or snap/clip in with little effort. The amount of screws you have to change out is just too time-consuming!
For the CNC function, although it did not mark up the base too deeply, overtime it will just leave to an unlevel surface and need to be replaced. Do you think that you would be able to instead put a sacrificial piece underneath your project to take the abuse and protect the units table?
The wasteboard is meant to be the sacrificial piece. It can be reused more times if your depth is set right, but you will always get some cutting of the wasteboard.
@@OtherDalfite I only had it on loan to do the review. I had the option to buy it reduced and I have to admit part of me wishes I had gone for it but I simply didn’t have the room at the time. I do intend to revisit it one day.
Does it have a built in software for 3D printing ? ....i mean if i wanted to replicate an item how can i do it ?what software to use to transform an item into a printable software inorder to 3d print it again ?
Good video nice done !! wondering if you have any more experience down the line with software and making parts after own design .. thats what scares me the most how do I make a design?
Thanks! In regards to making your own parts and designs etc. I'm not a good example. Because of my 3D artist background I use Cinema 4D, while this can certainly be used to create printable 3D models, in all honesty something like Fusion 360 or Solid works would be considerably better at functional design. My advice, get Fusion 360 and do a bunch of RUclips tutorials, you will be designing your own models in no time! :)
Hello, what is you oppunion after one month? I never do 3d print or laser... so its quite some money for 1st buy. Im collabing yes or no. Does everything work well? regards
I'm wondering if there is a chance I've got my nozzle too close to the base. When I printed the boat earlier I let it sit for about 20 minutes but then I had to forceably pull to get it off and it left a small portion of the the first layer on the print bed. Like taking off the magnetic base and folding it back and forth didn't get it to pop off.
They didn't start shipping the 2.0 until November of 2020 anything ordered before then was a pre-order. I ordered mine in September and received it in mid January due to all the holds on anything coming from China.
I have mine running in the office. My Prusa is quiet enough to run even when I'm in video conferences etc. so this makes it important to me. I guess some wouldn't care but I'm sure some do.
Nice review. I would have liked to see it printing at its actual speed. 1.5 hours seems long for Benchy. The average time to print it is 1 hour (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3DBenchy).
It's not a scam but it took forever ordered min 6/8/19 and just got it yesterday The second problem is that people who ordered after me got it before me I think they lost pre-order info and that's why they sent that survey that was asking you to buy more stuff I really love it but am not happy with waiting over a year and other getting theirs first
Too bad the company is can't fulfill orders. I ordered mine in March, received a damaged unit and can't get support to say anything besides, "It should work."
Don't. My unit was 3 months later than promised and didn't work. I've been trying to get a working unit or refund from customer support for about a month with no luck.
Overpriced. I own a very VERY similar competitor that works JUST as well as the original snapmaker and it cost a lot less and they now make a new version of their original machine, 8in cubed version, not as large as the snapmaker BUT it's about 1/2 the price of the A350. Very overpriced machine.
