I am using my iPhone 13 Pro as a bike computer using Quadlock mounts for years, never had any issue. Gravel, mountain and road bike. With watchOS 10 it becomes the perfect bike training setup for me. Used several Polar watches and VDO bike computers in the past.
I don't understand why on the Apple Watch Ultra there is a dedicated button (press once) to start a run, however to stop a run you have to press 2 buttons at the same time. Makes no sense.
Loved the way you said it “ I do phone things on my phone , and watch things on my watch” . I’m the same, I still use daily my series 6 , but I think for what I need a fenix would be a better option for me, but overall having all these options is a great thing.
💯 agree the options are great for us. I made a fun detailed video about deciding which route to go between Garmin or Apple. Just uploaded it just now: ruclips.net/video/ufdOKQkH9Vc/видео.html hope these videos help
I bought a garmin enduro and sold it after 6 months. I agree with you about garmin, but I throughly enjoy the Apple ecosystem and the ability to take any receive calls on my Apple Watch while on a run
I agree I have bought and sold many Apple Watches and Garmin watches, I don’t like garmin’s ui but I really don’t like apples fitness features. They both are great and bad in different ways. However apple is more frustrating to me because they seem to purposely limit their devices with software that limits their hardware, especially with the Apple Watch and iPads. But Apple Watch needs to get their maps and recovery stuff up to speed!
I have garmin ui and its a worthless clock for the day to day life but for sports Apple Watch is far from sufficient and I agree - Apple that used to be super innovative and fast are moving forward in snail speed these days.
I appreciate that brother. I have been using downloaded Spotify playlist on my long runs. besides that trying to get used to not listening to anything but idk its rough!
@@DominickDeVito bad? Lol what are you talking about? For fitness is the best without a question. Just go watch every video featuring a Fenix or epix against anything lol. Who wants to waste money on a smart watch? You have phone to talk and text. If you are working out you don’t need your phone
fully agree to your worries about overtraining with the apple watch. You know what? I am in the same boat. I always need somebody to tell me - take a rest. I also had massive problems with overtraining and the gamin watch is the right partner for me here. Thank you for the video!
Yea i too dont wanna put my iphone on the bike bars. Ive seen some motorcycle-certified phone mounts that could work even for pricey phones but never seen them IRL. On the manufacturer website they were showing mtb trails and stuff like em really be durable enough
I use for the Resting and Exertion and so on the Athletytic App and it feels like good enough for me. Having this in the native Health app would be great but I think this works also for now. Downside is the 30€ per year subscription but price is really ok. Do u know the app? What do you think about it? Because at the end I think Garmin uses the same data for its Body Battery and so on as we have in the Apple Watch and it is just a thing how to calculate and present the data.
That is a good point. There are 3rd party apps that do body battery, Stress and HRV already. I've made videos on them. I feel like it's more apple also waiting for the right time to release it and "market it".
I really do agree with you on your comments here. I wear both an Apple Watch SE and a Garmin 265S at the same time because they are good for different things. The AW is the better sleep tracker and far better smart watch for payments, reminders, notifications, weather, music control, and more. Unfortunately, the Garmin is really clunky on all of those things. However, for working out, the Garmin is far superior to the AW. I believe its HRV measurement is more accurate and it gives you a number of recovery and workout analysis metrics that are absent on the AW. I've been so disappointed with Apple with their ridiculous alphabetical list of metrics with no analysis at all. Garmin's Body Battery, Training Readiness, Training Status, etc. are extremely useful. I started out thinking I'd only use the Garmin on camping and backpacking trips, due to the much longer battery life, but I ended up wearing both watches, due to their lack of overlap. These new features of the AW are not that impressive to me.
Same here. I've been a long time AW user, but switched to Garmin last year. I really like how sport and health-focused Garmin is, especially how I'm able to access everything health and sports related with just one app, and I really don't mind not having a second phone on my wrist. I've been waiting for AW to improve to a point where I'd feel comfortable enough switching back, but so far it is still lacking, so I'm sticking with Garmin for another year at least. Plus Garmin has been making impressive hardware and software updates too, so the competition is pretty intense.
@@kodzuken1016 I agree, I have an AW and a Garmin Fenix 7x 51mm, but I rarely use my AW. The Garmin gives me good Health Stats, via Connect and Apple Health. I do use an Apple Phone and Laptop, so I'm an EcoSystem kinda of guy. I just don't need my phone attached to my wrist. I thought I would miss having my watch and cell on my wrist, but to be honest, I now don't want it on my wrist. If I go to do health related activities I will just leave the phone at home and gives me a break at the same time. PS. The Garmin also gives me freedom from having to charge everyday, and I don't worry about having my phone die on a workout. :)
I love both my Apple Watch Ultra and my Garmin…you’re right about Apple making their watch for the masses. It will be a slow process to enhance those sport features into the Apple Watch since they have other areas they’re building on besides the sports features. We must remember that sports athletes are a very small portion of the masses, so Apple is moving accordingly. Although I love my Garmin for the features it provides it’s more serious athletes…make no mistake about it…if Apple wanted to focus on a sport specific watch…it could do so very easily and be very successful. It’s good we have options 👍
I like the AppleWatch for the step counts and distances that I walk, and the records to view on my iPhone. I made the mistake of buying a non-cellular Series 8, so now I want the more durable Ultra, with the sapphire crystal, the larger screen and cellular, so that I always have a phone on my wrist even if I forget my iPhone. To me the greatest app in the Universe is activity tracker, which tracks my steps and shows the total better than any other app.
By this point i am just sooo annoyed how slow Apple is progressing. Don't they ever check Garmin or do they just don't care? I mean sure; they have different customers and a once in a month nordic walking Karen does not need athletic features. But c'mon. On the other hand is Garmin just cumbersome and I can't handle the 90s style UI / UX. I am stuck with no watch for years because I can't decide haha
exactly bro. They want to make all these features painfully slow for us. Have you checked out the AMOLED displays from Garmin. I thought the same about the UI until I they released the EPIX 2, but they make more AMOLED displays now.
100% AGREE. Except, the new watch faces are really dumb. I don't care about snoopy. I want more complications, not less. I want the ability to create my own watch faces. I want real topological maps, and although using WorkOutDoors is way better than what Apple is showing in WatchOS 10, it kills the battery really quick... I want physiological parameters, a good use of that data; I don't want my watch to become my phone in short I want a Garmin Fenix 7 pro. Apple might be years away still. maybe they don't want to go there.
I love a lot of the Bennefits that come with the ecosystem but sometimes they seem to purposely limit their devices with software that limits their hardware.
Sold my garmin. Useless features. Garmin pay? What a joke. All that stuff is much better on my Apple Watch. Except the battery lasts longer. But this is no issue with the ultra anymore
I think anyone who wants to use their smartwatch as a smartwatch and knows both ecosystems would agree. Watch OS is not bringing for athletes what it could.

Do you often take calls on a run?? Maybe you should disconnect for just a bit..
@@thejosef225 I understand your point but I have 5 kids, 3 are teenagers and need to get in contact with dad anytime.

Apple watch with no strap, in my pocket running belt hooked up to my airpods and able to answer calls, and garmin on the wrist. Perfect combo.

Spot on summary. Did you iron out your music on the Garmin issues? Thought about using Plex to stream directly to your wrist?
I appreciate that brother. I have been using downloaded Spotify playlist on my long runs. besides that trying to get used to not listening to anything but idk its rough!
I haven’t tested it myself. However, I heard one or two people say that off-line maps were also on the Apple Watch.
I'm using the watch series 6 and didn't go for the watchOS 10 cause it still under trials and sticking on watchOS 9.6 for better performances..
If you are serious runner or hybrid athlete or a ultramarathoner then the garmin is the only answer

Looks like the Epix Gen 2 from the thumbnail

I think the Apple Watch can’t measure body battery or stress all the time. Because it can‘t do 24/7 because of the battery.

Q: Would the Garmin XC100/200 work with the watch training app in OS10? Anybody who tried this yet?
Fair assessment.
watchOS js good for developers now but it’s a bit late I think.

Recovery metrics? Really? It is not useful in my opinion. Garmin's sleep tracking is mediocre. Only thing you can trust is HRV.

the garmins are just so ugly i wouldn’t use them for other stuff than sports :(
