Its a good looking figure. Yes it's VERY stylized, but. It's such a fresh breath of air. We've had 3 iterations of the Predaking. This being the 4th* and WOW its so Gundam-esk! And god , looking at the Leg combiner form, ITS ONLY THE SHIN. And its MASSIVE. it doesn't even have the toes or Thigh. And its HUGE! I'm all for it!(:
This figure looks great!!! That being said, I don't think its for me!! I dont want to spend that kind of money on a figure if its gonna break after a few transformations. I get that if you pay alot that it doesn't guarantee a perfect product, but at the same time you should be able to use the product the way it was intended without worry of it breaking after only a few transformations. Thanks for the review. It was great as always. At least if we get sucked into a dark void, we now know it's your voice we will hear!!! Lol
RazorClaw is the KEY to the puzzle.The biggest issue here surrounds how they’re going to come together. I’ve also got the same concerns over the combiner ports. What I don’t want at the end of this is either a floppy mess who can’t hold a pose beyond an A stance with hands by his side (I'm looking at you MMC) or something that’ll fall apart when you give it a look. Then you have the where the hell is his foot situation which seems to be leading to everyone’s understandable fear that we need the 6th member to make this happen. I’ve taken a stab in the dark at this set and so far so good but it’s a roll of the dice. As for the vid, I dunno man, you seem jaded in your reviews sometimes and gave some unfair critiques here and there too imo. Same with Studio Cell Unicron. Maybe if it was a Fanstoys piece you’d be feeling it a bit more ;p Glad you got the review out tho, always a pleasure to watch.
Totally agree man. The Stylized look I don't mind and am a fan of but the engineering to get from A to B to C looks very frustrating. Well maybe not "C" as it's the Bull sitting upright lol.
Great review. Just in case, the rear leg knee on a bull is almost hidden, stuck to the torso. The area you point as the knee, is actually the heel of the bull. Ungulate animals walk on the tip of the toes. These animals are members of a diverse clade of primarily large mammals with hooves.
Animal modes are cool, I'm pretty happy with them as that even if I end up not liking the combiner. Don't get why you're worried about the monkey pants. It's just partsforming that actually does something when it's not combined. They aren't that pricey, I say pick em up and enjoy them if something better comes along sell them on. Good rental figures!
I saw elsewhere that the upper diecast knee piece is a double joint to get a greater bend on the knee. You have to move it separately from the lower part of the knee, as you partially observed.
Thanks Skully for the great review. I’m also anxious about this combiner and crossing everything I can that it doesn’t have “monkey pants” 😂. If i look at the silhouette teased i am hoping it was just an early test shot. Since looking at the original Devy the silhouette looks kinda similar in the body. The add-ons of the abdomen helped elevate it to proper form. I’m just hoping that this combiner will incorporate the same but add-on to the sides will come with the body. Thanks again. 👍🏼
I am in on this set. Call me a Toyworld die-hard, although I think they might be just about done. Since this had Toyworld origins I wanted to support. If the combined mode is no good with the support locations looking like an old style which you educated me about in this video I will keep them in robot or animal mode. I am shocked you have not pointed out that both modes (minus combined) for both figures are actually decent and I dare to say very good. They may be able to go for a triple crown. My goodness though, my friend, you know how to exploit a nitpick when you want to. I just received Koot and Magnum from FTs and there is some major issues with Koot and they are just glazed over. *shrug* ... I guess I see now why so many people grind on you about you hypocrisy when it comes to FTs. Nothing is consistent. I started noticing it when I decided to go the Gigapower Dinobots. Those figures are beautiful! I think this Cang Toys set has a chance to look very good on the shelf in other modes if the combined doesn't work. Annnnd.... I really like the foot mode for this. If it looks as I think, those arms curled in the back of leg mode would be the "calve muscle" and if the other leg looks the same that will be sick!
I would be interested to see a vs sit down Saturday between this set of predacons compared to the feral rex team. Other than bigger and having ab joints I'm not seeing enough of an upgrade
I have the first two figures so far, but at the same time, I’m still on the fence. I like the figures, but at the same time all the issues and fears I have are quite big. I need to see what the next figure looks like. We shall see.
I really wanted to love this set but i can't, already the figures don't compliment each other, it like someone forgot to match up the colour pallets. we all know the 'monkey pants' will be the 5th release after Headstrong and that is when the combiner images will surface, I'll wait for the 20 different re-coloured boxsets. Mine gets here sometime this week. Im now sans predacons after parting with my mmc sets, but after spending a couple of weeks messing with their rampage I'm definitely getting back on the fence 2. I can't justify the set if they are not going to perform combined, and what i'm seeing is worrying me.

@@randylajara6542 this is TFC's designer team Predaking, the Zeta one is a completely different design, the only thing they have in common, is that both aren't pantsformers.
This looks really good for a very stylised update. Buuut I’m waiting for a ‘closer to G1’ set. Maybe this team can be retooled a bit to achieve that? There’s lots of positives on show
Monkey pants is the only way I can see this set working size wise, otherwise razorclaw is going to be gigantic, in my opinion having the otherwise static unusable thighs and lower torso transform into a different beastformer that still kinda fits with the set makes a little sense, you dont have to display him with the others in individual mode, as long as he is not recognizably a seperate figure in combined mode and just looks like an extension of razorclaw then thats fine.

I like light piping. Given that disassembling a head to slide in a new eye piece is pretty easy, high end toys should probably just include both.
