    Awesome video man. I get my borax at Walmart. $4 a box same stuff. I glaze pretty liberally though. Because I use tongs with my crucibles. I also have more bricks set up to control the heat and airflow. Also allows the crucible to cool slower so I don’t have to worry about cracking. Just a bunch of advice from others in the community. Great video though. Thanks for sharing bro

    So I know what the bricks are on the very bottom of your fireproof stand whatever but what is that marble looking material your crucible is actually sitting on? Is that just to make it extra power proof or is that something I can omit seeing as I have heat resistant tong things that I could use instead

    Another great video! I wish I would have been able to see this years ago when I first started smelting. Took me a few times to get it right. Now my crucibles are well seasoned. Are you going to do a smelting video? That would be fun to watch. Could always use some new tricks for this old dog....Thank you for all you do!

I will always try to steer you in the right direction with suggestions. Whether it be about awesome pay dirt and gold product sellers down to what would be great to see. I am very involved with dudes like Dave from Goldbay or Mike from goldnuggetsales.com. Both are good friends and very fair and honest sellers. Either of those guys, just tell 'em Jeff sent ya. Have you ever noticed once you have seasoned the crucible the borax sticks to the melted silver and sets to the top of the silver once cooled?
    I’ve never had this problem before but it’s started happening with a new crucible.

  • @richardbillin5190

    Very interesting liking the extra info...before you zoomed in you could have gotten that ant 🐜 lol...just wondering couldn’t you just heat it up good and hot then use like a flour sifter above it to give it a nice coating of borax then a final heat to glaze it? This is all new to me just wondering

    • @iiniijewelry
      @iiniijewelry 3 года назад +1

      Richard Billin awesome idea. But have you ever done that with flour? Same happens with borax. Pinches are good. He just needs to control the heat a bit better so his crucible doesn’t crack is all. He’s doing really good though. 👍🏾👍🏾

    Great video thanks!
    Is the borax glaze procedure you show in the video to be done ONLY once OR every time one needs to melt silver or gold etc?
    in summary - will the glaze come off after usage where we need to reglaze each time to start with a clean surface?
    or
    once it is glazed then no need to re glaze again in future for melting silver or gold etc? Thank you

    • @GoldenpaydirtReviews
      @GoldenpaydirtReviews  2 года назад

      Only once!

    • @SS-pi2yi
      @SS-pi2yi 2 года назад

      @@GoldenpaydirtReviews ok wow.that is good to hear. I was thinking maybe the crucible would get dirty after each use and need to reglaze as a clean-up task..thanks.

    can i heat it in my wood stove

    • @GoldenpaydirtReviews
      @GoldenpaydirtReviews  5 месяцев назад +1

      The only problem is getting the coat up top! You can heat it in the wood stove and get it piping hot, if you can find a way to get it out of the stove and
      Manipulate The dish so you can cover it with the borax, then yep! 👍
      But thank you for watching the video and leaving a comment, appreciate your support!

    What happens to gold when ur buddy don't treat the crucible..on purpose..??pls

    • @GoldenpaydirtReviews
      @GoldenpaydirtReviews  2 года назад

      The gold gets suck and lost in the crucible, then you’ll have the biggest mess and hassle to deal with, crushing the crucible, trying to get the gold out of the crucible, almost impossible to recover all with out chemicals and treatment! You definitely need to use borax and treat it!

    What's use of this process?

    • @GoldenpaydirtReviews
      @GoldenpaydirtReviews  3 года назад

      So when you do melt gold or silver it doesn’t stick to the melt dish! If you skip this process you’ll ruin the dish and you’ll lose your gold and silver either or to soaking into the melt dish! And you don’t want that, and you’ll waste the dish, it’s a must to step!
