13:52 Waitress is clearly hiding laughter in this scene. Another bad acting moment you can see is when Lloyd randomly picks what flight Mary may be boarding and runs off. He runs by a bench and one extra on the bench is looking right at the camera and smiles.
What I knew Jim Carrey's chipped tooth was real. Jim Carrey fell for Lauren Holly and were married for a year in 1995 before divorcing in 1997. One of 3 Jim Carrey films, the other 2 were Ace Ventura and The Mask. A sequel was out in 2014. Another one was out in 2003 which bombed.
I heard that Carrey and Holly married each other twice and divorced each other twice. So they were comedy's version of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
You should cover Me, Myself & Irene, which filmed here in Vermont. The final scene was literally down the street from my house at a popular swimming/fishing spot, and my friend Kristen was Jim's PA while he stayed in town. It made for a pretty interesting summer 🤘😎
No, you did not start my Friday like this! I can’t wait to come home and watch this at the end of my day! Much love from Cali.... you’re amazing my dude!
A DUMB AND DUMBER/ THE SHINING crossover be such a killer comedy. The trailers alone would be golden...... "Heeeres Lloyd!" . Imagine the movie poster with Lloyd and Harry scared of ad wielding Jack poking his through the door hole.😂😂😂😂
It could be like the old Scooby Doo movies, they meet Loyd and Harry while investigating the Overlook hotel. The old man from the hotel could be the one behind it all lol
The sequel wasn't anything special, but the beginning did have me laughing my ass off. Where he pretends to be in a catatonic state for decades as a prank.
What I love about Jim Carrey in this film is, despite his shtick of making funny faces, his expressions of sheer horror when nearly crashing head on into the truck (and turning around afterward) and also when Sea Bass kicks in the door are the 2 Jim moments that make me laugh the most lol.
Another funny part was when Sea Bass found out that they tricked him into paying their diner bill, the way he came storming out yelling, "I'll kill those sons of a bitches!!"
My friend Mike Watkiss was in Dumb and Dumber. He was a journalist working for A Current Affair and played himself reporting "The story of the blind Rhode Island Boy who was duped into buying a dead parakeet" he jokingly refers to that scene as his 15 seconds of fame.
There was also another different ending which still has the hotel owner offering them a job and a free room but ends with him saying they can look after his grandson who turns out to be the little blind boy who Lloyd sold the dead bird who had its head pulled off to.
Nice one, Minty. Also, I'm glad the two got divorced as he threw his first wife out on her backside, in order to date Holly. His first wife who was loyal to him, encouraged his acting career, even when he failed miserably with one project after another, after another, after another.... until finally landing his spot on in Living Color. And then transitioning to a successful movie career with Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. His first wife deserved better, but he treated her like trash and tossed her away because Holly was better looking.
I remember seeing this movie with my dad when it came out. And the bathroom scene had my dad laughing Soo hard he was crying lol. And he Never laughs at anything. He's always so serious. So I'll remember that for all my life
The most important thing to recognize in this movie, and why the comedy is done right, is that there is a totally serious line of dialogue, delivered in straight, dramatic, heartfelt style by Jim Carey: Early in the movie the character Lloyd says, "You know what I'm sick and tired of? I'm sick and tired of having to eke my way through life. I sick and tired of being nobody. I'm sick and tired of having no one." This is the theme of the movie, and all the sick, sad, silly, and stupid comedy serves as a foil to this very serious philosophical dilemma. So they go have an adventure. Sure, they're still dumber than a box of rocks and are going to lose every time, but they had an adventure. They're no longer just eking their way through life.
Rundgren... one of the most underrated musicians in history. One of his older songs, "Can We Still Be Friends", is even heard towards the end of the film.
We did the Stanley Hotel tour last year in Estes Park. Apparently, something did happen. Carrey was as staying in the hotel, but left in quite the rush early in production. He refused to stay in the hotel after that and spent little time inside during the shooting of the film. He never would speak of it, just demanded to stay at a different hotel. At least, that is the story on the hotel tour.
No you have it backwards, my friend. These days all you have to have is raw talent. Back then you actually had to have real talent, that’s why movies were so good in the 90s. Because the actors were so good. These days, we rely on CGI and all that crap. Also, Jim Carrey doesn’t have raw talent, he has amazing talent. No one else has talent like he does... or did
I would double check your alternate ending, I believe it was Jim Carrey who refused to get on the bus, and that the directors were begging him to get on it, but he said his character never would. You’re the man, love your videos but I think I’m right.
Minty, it’s no surprise that you have out done yourself on this one!! I actually do remember the cartoon! (Tells ya how old I am 😂). How about that synchronicity with “the shining “. That I didn’t know. Love your show and commentary. 👍you always take the untrodden path for us fans. Thanks man.
Funniest part for me was Harry throwing a speed snow ball from 3 feet away and hitting Swason in the head. I remember my side hurting I was laughing so hard.
The Stanley Hotel was also where Cast and crew stayed during the shoot. However, after about an hour of checking into his room, Jim Carrey actually ran out with his luggage and called for a cab, where he would stay in another motel until the end of shooting. No one was ever able to get him to talk about his abrupt exit, but Carrey refused to talk about the hotel and never step indoors until a scene was ready to be filmed.
It's kind of interesting on who played Sea Bass, considering it's someone who you don't normally associate with acting. He's played by now-retired professional ice hockey player Cam Neely, who played for the National Hockey League's Vancouver Canucks between 1983 and 1986, and the Boston Bruins between 1986 and 1996. He would reprise his role in the 2014 sequel, and also made a cameo in "Me, Myself & Irene" in 2000.
I know that she had a bitchy attitude to go with her looks and thats what led to their divorce. Which I guess is bitter sweet for Carreys last girlfriend for how Carrey treated her in dumping her to get to Holly. So Ive heard.

So...41% of the budget was just Jim Carrey's salary. Wow.
It was a solid investment
And 100% of the reason I watched it.
It was a bargain being as Carrey was responsible for over half of the movie.
This movie is absolutely in my top 3 favorite movies of all time!!
Yes, and all the rest of those movies are Jim Carrey movies lol 😂
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,
Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls,
The Mask,
Dumb and Dumber,
Liar Liar. Those are the best Jim Carrey movies
That scene with harry using the toilet never gets old 😂😂😂
There was a scene cut in the vhs version where Harry is seen unbolting the toilet and tossing the remains out the window.
@@AngryCatMan1982 thats hilarious.

Waitress is clearly hiding laughter in this scene. Another bad acting moment you can see is when Lloyd randomly picks what flight Mary may be boarding and runs off. He runs by a bench and one extra on the bench is looking right at the camera and smiles.
Lol never got that. Nice.
Oh you should do Once Bitten, Jim Carrey was great in that movie!
High Strung is another one of his little known films. Carrey only plays a small role as the Devil but that movie is FANTASTIC!
Earth Girls Are Easy.
I'd love to see a 10 things you didn't know about RAD
helltrack ya!
One of the best comedies. The fight with the chef literally has me in tears!
Omg, I thought that hotel looked familiar, thanks minty 😁
What I knew
Jim Carrey's chipped tooth was real.
Technically the 2003 one was a prequel
@@GrosvnerMcaffrey Technically it was completely separate as it didn't have anyone from the original cast or staff. It was only the same in name.
@@kennyhouser3467 never the less the plot concerns the same characters even the Feltcher twins make a cameo so technically it's a prequel
I heard that Carrey and Holly married each other twice and divorced each other twice.
So they were comedy's version of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
No one knew at the time that Jim’s tooth was broken. We learned that later on
"SAMSONITE!! HA! I was wayyyy off!!"
Ikr had me in the same mood but wife can't handle any hardcore laughing due to back strain...😢
One thing I wish I didn’t know, the sequel...
Never saw it
ruclips.net/video/VmI8Fw2CEvA/видео.html
Or the prequel.
The sequel wasn't anything special, but the beginning did have me laughing my ass off. Where he pretends to be in a catatonic state for decades as a prank.
Laughed my ass off for the sequel.
Same but it had itself moments
One if the best comedies ever made.
I've seen it a hundred times and it still makes me crack up laughing.
Hell, I just watched again last week
This is one of my favourite comedies of all time, up there with Airplane and the Naked Gun.
Lol the resturaunt fight scene omg
Also when lloyd invisions himself killing the girls husband dieee at the end
My friend Mike Watkiss was in Dumb and Dumber. He was a journalist working for A Current Affair and played himself reporting "The story of the blind Rhode Island Boy who was duped into buying a dead parakeet" he jokingly refers to that scene as his 15 seconds of fame.
The line from the movie that made me laugh the hardest...
"Harry! Harry! Your hands are freezing!"
You missed the most important "Things You Didn't Know About Dumb&Dumber"....
It stars Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders
There was also another different ending which still has the hotel owner offering them a job and a free room but ends with him saying they can look after his grandson who turns out to be the little blind boy who Lloyd sold the dead bird who had its head pulled off to.
KARMA!!!!
" The Rocky Mountains aren't very rocky. That John Denver is full of sh*t "

“Once were warriors” also came out in 1994
Does he do non american films?
There's still a bit left in the bottom 😂 great film
No mention of Todd Rundgren doing the music? I remember how surprised I was to find out when I saw his name in the credits.
I noticed they use a lot of different versions of musician's songs in their movies. Like Me, Myself and Irene has some Steely Dan songs.
Yeah! I love Steely Dam!
Rundgren...
one of the most underrated musicians in history.
One of his older songs,
"Can We Still Be Friends",
is even heard
towards the end of the film.
Yep. Great song.
I remember watching this in the theater and everyone just laughing hysterically. The good old days. I miss the 90s lol
Minty, you don't know me but with these vids, it's like you are going film by film through my own DVD collection!!!!! greetings from Malta :)
How come it seems like there’s always an animated series no ones ever heard about. Lol
I knew about Bill & Ted as well as Teen Wolf but didnt know about this one.
Mandela effect
"You know Harry, just when i think you couldn't get any dumber....."
You go and do something like this....AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!!!
I love how in the 90s all you had to have was raw talent and you could get a sitcom or movie deal
No one else has talent like he does... or did
I just had a feeling he was going to make this top 10 facts next. LOL
I see a Minty video, I watch a Minty video!
Watch these on the regular. The ending to this one was hilarious!.....lets not.....
Top shelf as always MInts.
I would double check your alternate ending, I believe it was Jim Carrey who refused to get on the bus, and that the directors were begging him to get on it, but he said his character never would. You’re the man, love your videos but I think I’m right.
I lose it (in the scene when Harry does a squeaker on the toilet) when I do the same thing 😂😂😂
Flush you bastard!
Skellington Fan I’ve never pooped before
A friend made me sit through the sequel. It was painful. That movie was a steaming pile.
Are you referring to Dumb and Dumber To? Or Dumb and Dumber: When Harry Met Lloyd? Both were awful.
Shit everywhere.... the only scene I remember
@@tommoore6356 That was the unofficial sequel (When Harry Met Lloyd).. I hated it when it came out but the official sequel was no better.
Agreed but the guy who plays Lloyd did a great job, especially when he was crying at the window
@@dratelectasis it wasn’t a sequel, it was a prequel! And it wasn’t really apart of the franchise
I work security at the Stanley Hotel from time to time. I have yet to see a ghost but sure hope I do.
Keep hoping my friend. Keep hoping...
If you haven't seen a ghost, maybe you are the ghost?
0:59 Remember when "Hey, wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?" was the go-to Dumb & Dumber meme? Good times, good times...
“.....go to Aspen, where the beer flows like wine......”
"Where beautiful woman instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano."
Lauren Holly. She was so hot we could put some of blame of the global warming on her.
But she also played Elastigirl in The Incredibles and The Incredibles Two
Peter-Will Swarts That was Holly Hunter
I know that she had a bitchy attitude to go with her looks and thats what led to their divorce. Which I guess is bitter sweet for Carreys last girlfriend for how Carrey treated her in dumping her to get to Holly. So Ive heard.
My favourite comedy of all time. Never fails to get a laugh from me.
WE LANDED ON THE MOON!
11:34 - Watch carefully. Lloyd originally says, "DO YOU REALIZE WHAT WE'VE DONE?"
The first of Jims movies I actually liked :)
Even Dirty Harry gets the shirts., just too funny, that's made my week, thanks Minty.
Great video. Thanks. Fun to hear on all the actors and actresses.
Timeless classic. 1994 was an amazing year , the entertainment world was so much better than today. "Dumb & Dumber" is my favorite Jim Carrey movie hands down.
My other favorites of his are "Ace Ventura Pet Detective" , "The Truman Show" , and "The Cable Cable Guy".
The cable is horrible and not funny at all
@@nikosatsaves3141 I disagree It's just darker than most of his other films , It's at least underrated If not misunderstood imo , but everyones sense of humor Is different so to each their own. It still made alot of money.
The Stanley Hotel is very creepy to see in person.
My farts fuckin stink
@@franksemyon5855 I imagine it's incredibly formidable
