If you press the resample button while you are setting your start or end points it will snap to the nearest zero cross point to minimize any clicks. Saves a little time vs adjusting it with the envelope mode.
That is useful! And to help new users to understand, If a loop starts or stops in the middle of a wave form, your speakers will make a pop sound due to their physical movement. So it is best to make a cut when the wavepoint is neutral.
Re: SDHC cards less than 32GB are the only ones that will work when updating. With the new update you can use SDXC up to 1TB. Thanks for the video it was really helpful!
You are a terrific teacher man. I remember watching your MPC videos a few years back, and now as a new owner of the 404mkii I'm here listening again. You have a knack of taking concepts and breaking them down and then, a few minutes later you always manage to repeat the idea again so that if someone missed it the first time, you almost always touch on it again to drive the point home. That's a skill as a tutor/teacher. Thanks for these videos, incredibly useful and fun to work alongside.
Thanks alot, this is really the only video i needed to see, you actually hit everything you come across when sampling, truncating, performance chopping, one shot mode, choke groups.
I just got my 404 after 5 months on preorder... and I have been watching a ton of videos, but this one RIGHT HERE SON... This is what I was looking for... big ups
Hey Ricardo, man I’m sorry to hear that it took so long for you to receive it. Also congratulations on your new sampler I’m sure you’re going to fall in love with it. It’s been such a fun device for me. Blessings and thank you so much for the feedback
Just got mine. Coming from Maschine mk3 but I’m rusty.lol. Been out the game for a minute. This video right here is gonna put me where I need to be. Can’t be explained any better. I subscribed to the channel. Amazing tutorial. Great way of explaining.
Really good video, thanks for taking the time to go through this. I'm a complete newbie to this kind of thing and I've just got a 404 mk2. I've been interested in this type of thing for years but never tried it. I've seen the 404 being used for years and always liked the results people get once they've taken the time to learn the machine so I'm giving it a go.
Hey brother, I highly appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and I’m excited for you hopefully you get yours very soon. I got some new cons in coming out on the next few weeks with this machine as it’s been very fun to use
Yo Donnie, I really appreciate you dropping by and sharing this feedback and also congrats on the new 404. I know you’re gonna love it, I’ve been hooked on that 404 these past few days so I’ll be uploading some more content with this very soon brother. Much love to you and blessings.
Thanks bro I’ve been on the MPC for 2 years now so learning this is gonna be fun foreal😂😂 do you have any videos on how to lay down drums and adding that sample?
Hey brother, thank you so much for taking the time and watching the video and also sharing your feedback it really means a lot coming from you. Blessings to you brother 🙏🏽🙏🏽
@@malobeats Anytime, man! I appreciate the effort you put in your work. Your videos and the quality have grown so much and your beats are getting better and better at the same time! The only "con" would be the amount of "G.A.S." that you bring out of me but that' s on me, bro! Stick with your guns should be the motto 😎! I ordered the SP to sample/resample between Maschine MK3 and the SP, so to use it primarly as an effects box. Hopefully the routing will be possible to do how I imagine 🤞
I would love to see something about the MkII's song mode if you feel like putting a video out on it. I have an OG 404 a friend gave me years ago, but I never really vibed with it because it doesn't have a full sequencer like an MPC. I've seen that the new ones have a song mode, but some people say it isn't really fleshed out enough. I'd love to hear your opinion on it
WOW thank you man. You’re an awesome educator. You explain clearly what you’re doing and in this 20 mins as a sp404 nube i learnt more that umpteen other ‘how to’s’ done with lightening speed muscle memory workflow style thats impossible to follow. Ya got a new subscriber dude😘😘
I know this video may be a year old it’s still educational and inspirational! I d like to know what are the devices you have in your studio on your desk displayed in this video if you don’t mind me asking
Thanks for this video! I recently got this thinking I would just be able to sample my Modular quickly and be able to build a sample library on the fly, BUT I almost gave up on this box. This is the best video on this topic I have found so far! Concise!! I hope you do more videos on this piece of gear.
I appreciate you dropping by brother, it’s a bummer they have these on back order still but hopefully they will to get them back in stock sometime soon.
Hey brother, thank you so much for dropping by with this request as I am working on a video going over the pattern sequencer as we speak this comment really helps me out to tailor the video a little better. When you mention on how to extract to the computer, are you talking about on stemming out your beats into your DAW for mixing?
@@malobeats Well I'm not sure about him, but yeah I would like to see a demo on that Lol. I have Ableton but I'm sure the process would b similar across the board.
Strongly considering picking up a 404 and have been checking out your videos. Have a lot of experience with the Digitakt but none with the 404. Feel like I already know a little bit about its workflow from checking out what you've put out there. Thanks and keep it up!
Hey John, I appreciate you taking the time and sharing this feedback with me and I also had the Digitakt at a point but honestly these samplers are all great in their own way just a complete different workflow. I personally feel like the 404 has a little more to offer when it comes down to it sequencer versus the Digitakt but like I said everybody has a preference with their sampling workflow
@@malobeats I think actually sampling seems more well served on the 404 from what I’m seeing. I mean, I’ve recorded sounds to my Digitakt but ended up just tweaking them and using them as one shots. I know you can do the chopping on it as well, but seems way different. I think I’d use them as two entirely different things that could compliment each other.
Thanks Bro, very clear and concise walk through. I’m really considering getting one but wanted to understand the workflow first. This helped immensely. Will watch your other vids as well.
I wished I found your channel first ! You explained and demonstrated this so clearly and well it helped with my understanding! Do you have a resampling tute for the 404 on your channel? Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this video tute!😊
hey there! Can you make a video on how to record it ? Like how you did at the end where the sample is playing and you can actually do a live performance of it. Would be really appreciated!
Hey brother, thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to check out the video and sharing your feedback. I’m glad it was helpful. Much love and blessings to you
Something that would really make the device more fun and spontaneous is if I could set the velocity I hit the pad with to trigger mark points. I miss this from my old sampler. I could set the velocity to volume, sample start points, filter and more

Really helpful vid, thank you. When you changed the pitch of all your chops (last thing in the video), wouldn't that also have changed their BPM, are you showed earlier in the video, or did it time-stretch them?

I guess that depends on the version, you're upgrading from. I successfully upgraded from 3.x to 4.x with a 64 Gb card.
This is definitely one of the best 404 mk2 tutorials i've seen.
