    The Gen 5 Kawasaki ZX10r shop bike is back under the knife! This week we take care of some air flow. We did the flapper mod on the zx10r to increase the overall airflow to the engine. Along with that, we re-ran it on the dyno to see where our new horse power numbers sat. But ALSO, while doing all of that, we do a little test that a lot of you have been asking for to answer the age old question, Which is better, DNA filter or Sprint? This zx10r came with a DNA filter installed so we got those numbers and then ran it again with the Sprint P08 filter to see which one made the most gains. And to make things a little more interesting, we also added carbon fiber MotoMax velocity stacks to each run to see if they really make a difference. This dyno run really got interesting and we think you'll enjoy the results. So, which air filter is best for motorcycles? Do carbon fiber velocity stacks make a difference? Let's find out! DNA filter vs Sprint Filter.

    I hear you guys loud and clear! We will redo the test and tune both filters in completely! 🙌 We were running out of time that day and I honestly didn't notice it until video posted!
    I want it to be 100% fair, so I will happily redo it and single it out instead of trying to test multiple things same day! 💪
    Thanks for watching and for all of the support!

    I would take the filter that actually filters better unless riding in very clean conditions.

    A filter can have more surface area, but if the filter media is not allowing as much air through, it does not mean much. Remember that Sprint Filter's material is plastic and almost all holes are the same size due to the way they are made. As opposed to other brands like DNA that use Paper/Cotton material, they can not control the size of the holes so precisely. This causes not being able to specifically see what micron of particles will go through, and furthermore it causes unwanted turbulence.
    We have a great video showing a sprint filter under the microscope to show you what we mean.
    The P08-F185 filter is not meant for the road, those people who want to make sure dust does not get into their air box with normal use, the the P08 model.
    By no way we are paid by any company to say this stuff, I mean we would make more money selling DNA filters, but Sprint Filter is clearly a better air filter if you chose the correct filter type (P08 or P08-F185).

      @Motomillion thank for your input on this! At the end of the day people are splitting hairs over an air filter. Overall I have generally seen better power utilizing a sprint over a DNA filter. 🙌 if you want, put the link somewhere and we can throw it on the description for ya 🤙

      DNA slightly edges the MWR. But when I say slightly it is barely higher RWHP than the other. Fairly similar dyno charts I’ve found.

    Appreciate the test between the two filters but i will definitely stick with the sprint P-08
    I just think the sprint P08 f1-85 & assume the DNA filter is the equivalent to the P08 f1-85? Aint a good ideal in a street bike.
    Im running a P-08 in my bike and there absolutely no dirt etc in the air box not wruth the little extra them other filters give you

    • @austin17qb24
      @austin17qb24 Год назад

      I actually just switched from the P08 “street” filter to the DNA and the filtration on the dna is MUCH better along with the power increase etc. my entire airbox was full of dust etc. with less than 1 year of riding with the sprint

    • @K-carbon
      @K-carbon Год назад

      Well I assume its really dusty where you are ? I'm in Ireland so not really every dusty

    • @austin17qb24
      @austin17qb24 Год назад

      I guess it really comes down to also where you live etc. as well though. I live in a pretty dusty area, parking lot for work is dirt etc. etc. but the dna filtration wise is much better in my opinion

      Instresing I assume there a DNA Street version and race version like the sprint?

    • @austin17qb24
      @austin17qb24 Год назад +1

      @@K-carbon I have the race version and the p08 street sprint filter is still more see through than the dna. I’ve tested with the draggy gps as well and actually improved my 60-130, 100-150 and 50-140mph times on same day, same spot testing

    Interesting tests. So after watching this video, I have to ask; what gear do you tune in, 4th or 5th? And what gear.do you dyno in for the best pull?

  • @QuicKurtZX14R
    @QuicKurtZX14R Год назад +3

    Both need the same AFR tune to see the real differences, on this particular bike the DNA does have more total area which is definitely in its favor. Would like to see this test on a bike where both of the 2 filters total area is the same. Still have the stock filter on my 14R with only the screen removed, if the area on both are the same on a 14 that would be a fair test IMO, but only with the AFR's optimized for each.

    I feel like if the dna was dialed in air fuel wise after just the filter swap like the sprint was the number would’ve been even more different and those losses would’ve been closer to the same or even gains.
    Actually doing a test now just like others I know with the dna vs f1-85 sprint with a draggy and gps times and have actually seen time improvements from the dna over the sprint in real world Ram air etc. tests. PLUS you’re getting the additional filtration the dna offers over the sprint 💯

      Following up on the dragy test between the Sprint and DNA!!!
      The DNA filter without ANY tuning changes 60-130mph time improved by .16 seconds, and improved total distance by 28.45ft!
      100-150mph time with the DNA improved by .36 seconds and total distance 73.36ft!!

    • @johnnyappleseedz422
      @johnnyappleseedz422 11 месяцев назад +1

      Agreed!! My bike was tuned with Sprint P08 F185. The best 60-130 Dragy I even got was 5.18s. However, this was at 3,900 feet DA. Recently, I been testing my 1st gear hits to see the 60-70 mph times and the 60-100 mph times. Then, my 60-70 was .53s at 3,900 DA. Today, I scored a .54s at 5,751 DA; 1,851 feet of DA working against me. So I am guessing, at the same DA of 3,900, I should see overall faster times with the DNA.

    Did you do 3 runs with each filter change to get an average or just do one run each?
    The gains/losses are minimum,I prefer BMC or MWR not a fan of sprint due to the lack of filtration

    • @provenpowercycles
      @provenpowercycles  7 месяцев назад +2

      We ran 3 pulls on each and grabbed best run on that. Also, we redid the test and they came out the exact same with 0 power gains on either filter. We touched up afr to make them identical, same day testing, and made multiple pulls on both.

      Also, I'm not a big fan on bmc anymore since I've found several literally breaking down in the airbox. Chunks of red rubber falling off in airbox / tb assembly. I do like mwr, and I used to really like pipercross too but I don't think they are in the scene anymore lol
