I have been using multimedia PCs in my car since 2012, and since 2014 I started using Intel nuc with touch screen and I don't think I will use a normal stereo again, it is a great advantage .. If you cannot install an Android stereo, this Android usb is a good option, and I swear you will not want to use a normal stereo again because of the advantages it has, this usb.

Yup.....wait till they try to use the GPS off a phone's hotspot. Not gonna work well, and the latency is gonna be horrible usb 2.0. Put a sim card in the tablet and youre GOOD2GO
The USB in my car does not give power so I would have to convert the cigar socket, but considering you can get an Android 10 stereo with 1080p and 6Gb for £79 it has to work out cheaper when buying a monitor for it, I purposely chose a traditional stereo when I ordered my new car as I can't stand the high audio compression of MP3.

You could try it with bluetooth mini keyboard with touchpad in your car, I’m using Carplay ai box in my car with mini keyboard with touchpad It’s working great
I just checked this out, it's still an indigogo product. Full of bugs they hope to solve by July. They have an early version that people want to return. Then wait for a new model. Seems awesome, but not quite ready yet. Plus for the price, a cheap android based head unit is another option. Yes, it would involve removing the old head unit. Let's face it, they become old very soon.
Built-in Android Auto (not mirroring,) is already a full version of Android that has factory set restrictions placed on it. Those restrictions are based on the laws of the region the device is sold it. I really don't see the point in a device like this. It feels like legal grey area that only serves to get people fined or arrested.

Wondering this also. Also, they say your car must support Android auto bit they make it seem like It will work on any car with a touch screen. My 2014 Honda has a touch screen but it does not support Android auto so I'm wondering if this would work or not.
Most android will convert to keyboard/mouse..... you can probably use it in your car with one of those small bluetooth keyboard/touchpad units, or even just a wireless touchpad if you aren't using maps or something that requires text input
Sorry for the stupid question but we see a mouse pointer while you are testing it on the car. Does it mean it has Bluetooth? If yes can it be used to be controlled on your car even without the touch? Maybe I misunderstood and it just "doesn't work" without touch screen. If it works, even if a mouse is not an optimal way it is still better than not be able to use it specially with a small Bluetooth mouse that can stay in the car (obviously not to use while driving).
@@ETAPRIME thank you for your answer :) I was not sure about this as I didn't saw Bluetooth in the specs. So potentially you could use it in your car but not really comfortably and as intended. Does it come with the option to turn off the ads? Nothing I love more than driving my car, having options available to make driving it more enjoyable and also having products and services advertised to me while I'm driving. Advertisements, I just love having them EVERYWHERE I look and in everything I own. Ads, man... ads ads ads. So many ads I wish I had more time to put them in everything I enjoy.
Most android systems passed a certain version can see a mouse & you can use said mouse as a pointer! As long as you have 2 or more ports you can plug that dongle into, try & plug a mouse in, it may work for if you don't have a touch screen!
I even have a Bluetooth enabled game pad with dual analog joy sticks that can work on my android devices as a mouse as well! But if a USB mouse works for you, I'd get a track ball mouse due too you won't have to move the mouse around vs. just rolling a ball to move the cursor!
SUGGESTION FOR YOUR CAR: Not sure if anyone suggested this already, but what about trying to mount a bluetooth touchpad mouse somewhere by where your rotary dial is if you have room? Wouldn't be quite as good as a touchscreen, but should allow it to work.
Probably a great idea if you had a spare Android phone but with summer coming up - leaving your phone in the car can cause premature failure and battery problems down the road
I wonder if a bluetooth touchpad or controller would let you operate it as if you had a touch screen. Worth a try, and you'd be able to use it in your other car if it works.
Gaming on the car stereo is ridiculous!? Sounds like the perfect time killer when you're in the cell phone lot at the airport, waiting to pick somebody up.
Do you make car videos? I would love to see your ride. I’m building an 88 s10 right now and remember from past videos you talking about being into cars too.
I have an Eincar touch flip screen I just put in my car and it has all that you don’t need that USB drive , it also a spot for SD support as well I paid 240 on Amazon
If you want to do this without the $100 dongle, you can grab a cheap phone from Walmart, install "AnyAuto" or "AAAD" (Android Auto Apps Downloader"... Also, you can add wireless Android Auto support with the phone too if the headunit doesn't support it by enabling developer mode in Android Auto and installing "AAGateway", which doesn't require root but rooting the cheap donor phone does make the process easier. So you essentually get more features at 1/3 the cost, plus since the phone has a battery it'll instantly boot, no wait.
Hi, there is an alternative right now for using non rooted phones with Android Auto. Do search for Android Auto App Downloader (AAAD) in xda forums and try it out. I use the pro version but the free one let's you install one app every 30 days.
This is just a silly question and there is no reason for anyone to behave like a bully. Did you tried to pair a wireless trackball before using your car display?
It looks pretty cool. I wonder if they'll support and update it after they're sold? I probably would have gone with a female usb-c connector and usb-c and type A cables and a mount in the box.
If you use CarWebGuru car launcher on this then you can even get the look of a fully customisable car entertainment centre. I use it on my android head unit in my van. It’s one of the best apps out there for this exact purpose.
Why not use a Bluetooth air mouse (or regular mouse) to control it on a non-touch screen? Or better yet, get a Bluetooth drawing tablet, which would map the touch inputs to the screen.
To me it seems like it's just using your cars Factory Media system as a pass-through and ultimately you're just accessing the dongle itself so essentially you're attaching the touchscreen to that dongle
I have been waiting for something like this. I'm very tired of Android Auto not working half the time on my phone and I have to constantly unplug it, force close the Android Auto app and plug it back in again until it decides to work.
My mom had a head unit laying around that I'm using for radio in my office. Found out it's Android Auto enabled. Definitely interested in this product.

Funny coincidence to see a video showing the "Lake Guatavita" (* it's like 2 hrs drive from home, here in Colombia)
I could see business people loving it, access to your apps on the car screen using the cars touch screen
If they come out with a model with cell data and proper gps you don't have to tether from phone, I'll buy it
Gaming on the car stereo is ridiculous!? Sounds like the perfect time killer when you're in the cell phone lot at the airport, waiting to pick somebody up.
I just bought it. I needed it! 2019 HONDA ACCORD SPORT 1.5T THANKS ETA!
I just received it in the mail. 1 year later from this comment.
Hooking up a controller via Bluetooth will be awesome and for using plugshare to view elevation.
The project got a scrapped I lost money I was one of the contributor's.
@ETA Prime will you make a video with modified android auto on a phone? Would be interesting, never thought that this is possible.
Great video as always, I also have an RAV4 but very limited what can be done with Apple carplay, instant buy!
Amazing product been waiting a long time for something like this, when is the expected release for Canada?
This is just a silly question and there is no reason for anyone to behave like a bully.
Did you tried to pair a wireless trackball before using your car display?
What about a mouse or pad via Bluetooth etc or a remote from the phone screen
(Touch screen)
Wow!!! they're not cheap. Is that for sure... You can easily hook up raspberry pi for the same effect...
It looks pretty cool. I wonder if they'll support and update it after they're sold? I probably would have gone with a female usb-c connector and usb-c and type A cables and a mount in the box.
thank you for being a King of the Hill fanatic
If you use CarWebGuru car launcher on this then you can even get the look of a fully customisable car entertainment centre. I use it on my android head unit in my van. It’s one of the best apps out there for this exact purpose.
Cant wait for when ETA uploads emulation tests on the new samsung smart fridge
Man I can't wait to use this and watch movies and play emulators while I'm driving my kids somewhere!
Nice video. How many times are you going to say it doesn't work in your car because you don't have touch screen. Lol
Nice video! Would you mind sharing what OBDII adapter you personally use? You sparked my interest with the app from your video.
