  • Why do some of us struggle so much with the Bible’s teaching about hell? Today, R.C. Sproul explains that it’s not because we have a higher view of justice than God does.

The possibility of God sending me to hell, is utterly terrifying. I often worry about it sometimes laying in my bed at night. I also worry about anyone being there as well, but I know we are all deserving of hell. I throw myself at God's mercy, and fall at his feet and ask for forgiveness. I really do.

How can we be separate from that of which created us and breathed life into us. There are people being tortured and killed daily on earth.
The word hell is a four letter word. 4 earth is a 5 letter word. In the beginning God created heaven and earth. People need Love and people need peace. People don't need fear. People need compassion and understanding.

You can't because of omnipresence. If the writers of the bible didn't even understand the entity they claimed to have been divinely inspired by, then it begs the question why they'd assert such a no-brainer in imposing limitations on him.
So the doctrine of Hell fails, what is more accurate, is god just outright destroys people he doesn't love and who don't love him. One thing both sides can agree upon - they never wanted to be with each other.

It's important to note eternal separation from God is not a complete absence of God. People in Hell no longer experience God's grace and mercy, but definitely experience God's wrath for all eternity. No one should breathe a sigh of relief at that. Difficulty with the concept of Hell stems from a low view of God and a high view of self. We don't rightly view the seriousness of sin but instead trivialize it. Because of our sin natures we are constantly fighting against our bent to make everything about ourselves and our own desires and wills. We tend to be "inward" instead of "outward" toward God. It makes the reality of Hell hard to accept.

Sproul was a hypocrite and was seen in an interview practically foaming at the mouth about people going to hell for “going against” God. We’re all born into sin and guilty by default, so the concept of eternal conscious torment is automatically against the nature of God for multiple reasons. It’s also unbiblical and purely idiotic to believe that God predestined people for heaven and hell. If that were the case God would be pure evil for creating those people in the first place just to ultimately make them suffer. Eternal conscious torment had been debunked so many times it’s not even funny, yet idiots like this guy continue to push it because they’re entire ministries, tithings, and lifestyles would crumble apart. No. RC was admitting that describing eternal damnation as "Lake of Fire" maybe figurative. That does not dismiss the reality. It is simply that the reality is incomparable to anything we now experience while fire being as close an approximation/descriptive that we have on this side of eternity. As RC stated, the reality is far worse than the figure.

  • @Redeemed.of.YHVH.thru.Christ
    @Redeemed.of.YHVH.thru.Christ 2 года назад +11

Eternal separation from my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for all eternity, is a far greater agony, for me, to imagine than burning in the lake of fire for eternity. Nothing I can do myself can prevent me from going to eternal damnation in the lake of fire, no works, no matter how great they are, and no matter how well I keep the law, none of it is good enough in God’s eyes to grant me the sinless, perfect righteousness that I need to go to eternal life in Heaven. But God, because He loves us, sent His Son, the exact image and nature of YHVH manifest in the flesh, our Lord Jesus Christ, to fulfill the law for us, and the wrath our sins earned us, was poured out on our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the cross, so that everyone who believes they have been justified on the cross of Christ, who know their sins have all been washed away by the bl00d of the Lamb, and who believe that God raised Jesus from the dead the 3rd day, they will all go to Heaven for eternity, given the sinless righteousness of Christ by the grace of YHVH, because they believe that Jesus Christ was the propitiation for their sins, as a gift from Abba YHVH.
I will never end up in HeII, because God’s Word has promised me eternal life, and He has sealed me with the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption. Jesus took my sins, and He clothed me in His righteousness, and I have been reconciled to my Heavenly Father forever, because the Holy Spirit baptized me into death with Christ on the cross, and made me spiritually alive in Christ, and I am dead to sin, and dead to the law, and it’s no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. I’m justified by the shed bl00d of Jesus Christ, I’m being sanctified daily by the Holy Spirit, and on the day of redemption I will be glorified, and this corruption will put on incorruption, in the twinkling of an eye. Praise and glory to YHVH, who manifest Himself visibly through our Lord Jesus Christ. He gets all the glory, and all the praise, for all eternity. “Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES”, Romans 10:4. Do you believe you have been justified already, by the bl00d of Christ? Or are you still trying to justify yourself by the law? You can’t mix law and grace, because if you believe you have to do something other than trusting the gospel of Christ, in order to ensure your salvation, then you don’t understand the gospel, and you’re trying to justify yourself by your own works. You can’t do that, because if salvation comes by the law, then Christ died in vain, Galatians 2:21.
It’s either grace, or works, and if it’s works, then it’s no longer grace. I see far too many people who are frustrating God’s grace, and telling people they have to keep the law to be saved, even the dietary laws. That’s why Jesus Christ told the Pharisees that they couldn’t avoid HeII, because they actually thought they were sinless in keeping the law, and they completely ignored the huge sin of their UNBELIEF in the grace and mercy of YHVH. Not believing completely on the shed bl00d of Christ for your justification, apart from any works of the law, is a sin. “What must we do to do the work of God” the people asked Peter in the book of Acts, and Peter replied “This is the work of God, THAT YOU BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, whom YHVH sent”. That’s the work we must do for salvation, believe on Christ. And YHVH even gives us the faith to believe.
Justification IS salvation, and we’re justified by FAITH ALONE on the redemptive work of Christ on the cross, and His resurrection the 3rd day. That’s the gospel of Christ. The just shall live by FAITH. Justification by trusting on the finished work of Christ for our redemption must precede the sanctification by the Holy Spirit. We have to first be saved and born again through faith, before Christ can produce works through us. He is the vine, and we are the branches, and apart from being in Christ, we can do nothing. People get that completely backwards, and believe that they are doing works, that if they keep the law, and if they keep the feast days, and if they tell others to keep the law too, they will be qualified for salvation, and all of it is DEAD WORKS, because it’s apart from Christ. Anyone who says that you can’t be saved if you don’t keep a 7th day Sabbath, or if you don’t keep the 10 commandments you can’t be saved, is believing in their own works for salvation, and they will be condemned by the law they’re trusting in for salvation.
Everyone who is under the law is under the curse of the law. The whole purpose of the law was to show us our sins, and how we can never be good enough to receive salvation by keeping the law, because no human has ever been able to keep the law as perfectly as God demands, because we’re all fallen. That’s why NO FLESH will be justified by the deeds of the law. We are so far from the sinless, holy, perfect righteousness of God, because everything we do, no matter how perfect we think it is, is nothing but filthy rags to YHVH. This is why the Pharisees couldn’t avoid HeII, because they underestimated the sinless righteousness of YHVH, and they overestimated their own righteousness, actually believing that they had the same sinless righteousness of YHVH by their own works of the law. Our flesh will never be righteous. And our soul is only made sinless and righteous through faith on the finished work of Christ and being born again of the Holy Spirit. Once we’re born again, we have 2 natures, the sinful nature of the flesh, the “old man”, and the sinless nature of the soul that has been quickened by the Spirit of Christ and given His righteousness, the “new man”. And these 2 war against each other.
Let me tell you what you must do to be saved. You must believe that Jesus Christ took all your sins upon Himself on the cross, and the wrath of Abba YHVH against your sins was taken out on the body of Christ on the cross as the propitiation for your sins, and by the grace of YHVH, He gave you the righteousness of Christ because you believe the shed bl00d of Christ justified you and took away all your sins, and you believe you will be resurrected to eternal life, because God resurrected Jesus Christ from the dead the 3rd day, and this is all a gift YHVH has given you, and when Jesus Christ said “Tetelestai”, PAID IN FULL, “It is finished”, that’s exactly what He meant. It’s the faithfulness of Christ all the way to the cross, and our trusting in HIS FINISHED WORK for our redemption that justifies us. You cannot add ANYTHING to the perfect shed bl00d of Christ.

And when considering the character of God... how much He loves us.... does that all change the moment our heart stops beating and now he wants us tortured.... forever.?? We are told/ taught to love our enemies to become more like Him yet in reality He is far more compassionate and loving and forgiving than I could ever be. Why would a person who ignored God purposefully for 80 years in this life serve 4345664333 years of torment and still not taken any time off their sentence?? Cruel & unusual??? I know many traditional interpretations of scripture get skewed ( thus all the different denominations) but some day we will all see His judgments will be fair and just no matter how it may seem now. Have your sins been forgiven today and forever? Think about this. The God of the bible, the One True God made us to worship him, obey him, and enjoy him forever. We break His laws daily by not putting Him first, not thanking Him like we should, we lie, we lust, we have sex before marriage, we dishonor our parents, we covet things other people have, we take God's name and use it in vain, we use it in a low manner, sometimes as a cuss word, (God is holy and even His name is holy), we don't love like we should, etc. In doing so we're saying He's not a good provider, He's a liar, He's untrustworthy, He's not worthy of praise. All these things and more are counted against us. The bible says God is the just judge of the world and one day He will settle the score for all the wrong we've done. God is holy meaning He is righteous (morally perfect in thought, word, and deed) It also means He is set apart and higher than us. God being good, must punish all sin or wrong doing in the world. This means that if you sin one time God will cast you in hell for eternity. Because He is good and He doesn't turn a blind eye to sin. But there is good news. 2000 years ago Jesus the Son of God came into this world and lived a perfect life ( He never sinned once) and He died on the cross taking the wrath that we deserve and paid the penalty for the sins we committed. The bible says that if you will repent (confess and forsake your sins) and trust in what Christ did on the cross (He took the wrath of God that was meant for you and I) then all your sins will be forgiven and when you die you will be in heaven with God and all who believe for eternity. Jesus died and on the third day He rose from the grave. Get right with God today don't wait. Once you die after that comes the judgement. Hebrews 9:27 It's the most important thing you can do. You must be born again John 3:7 If you repent and trust in what Christ did on the cross it shows that you've been born again or born spiritually. Right now you're dead in your sins and you can't see the beauty of Jesus Christ but after you trust in Christ all the things you hate about God like obeying him, serving Him, loving Him and others, reading the bible, praying and going to church you will love to do those things because God changes your heart. That's how you know you have been born again and forgiven. Please think long about this and ask me any questions you have as this is the most important thing you can ever think of in your life. An eternity in hell (darkness and a lake of fire the bible describes it, with weeping and gnashing of teeth) or an eternity out of that place and into the loving arms of God who is infinitely glorious, has infinite knowledge and has infinite power to do all that He pleases. You decide. Have a great day!

Assuming God is omnipotent, all-loving, and omniscient, there is absolutely zero reason to believe that hell exists and/or that people are sent there.
God knows exactly how everyone's life will play out and where they'll end up when they're created. Knowing this, an all-loving God would simply not create people that would wind up in hell.
Some objections might be, "Well, some hell-bound people are instrumental in getting other people into heaven." an all-powerful God could fabricate a universe where there are no hell-bound instrumental people, and an all-loving God wants to send as few people to hell as possible, so that defense fails.
"People choose to go to hell of their own free will." Again, God made the entire universe with the foreknowledge of where every person would end up after they died. If you say that we chose to go to hell, God knew what we would choose and still made us anyway, fully aware that we'd end up in hell. That's not what an all-loving God would do. If you say that God couldn't have made us any other way, then he's not omnipotent, since he lacked the ability to make a different universe or not create hell-bound people.
I'm curious how Christian theists tackle this idea, so if there are any defenses I missed that don't contradict God's tri-omni qualities, I'm very curious to hear them.

Eternal damnation in the form of annihilation is in the Bible, but the funny thing is that the Bible never says that humans suffer it, it only uses pronouns "they," "them," "these." I believe that only the devil and his angels and the old, fallen nature of man is annihilated.

I don't believe in Hell. It sounds so silly if I'm being honest..

I am a born-again, evangelical Christian, and a student of the Bible and I don't believe in Hell, either.

Either sadly mistaken or blatantly a false prophet. Absolutely nothing scriptural to base upon calling it symbolic. Very common for the well learned to miss the knowledge of the truth. So sad.

God is not about justice. That is obsolete Old Testament thought. God is unconditional love. Jesus referred to God as Our Father. Would your father judge you and send you to a hell? You can never be separated from God because you are a child of God. God would be sending a part of himself to hell. You are part of God. You can have the experience of feeling that you are separated from God. It is really a state of amnesia. You are experiencing a veil in physical reality. With the veil, you then must make choices. That is what physical reality is all about. By feeling separate, you get to realize yourselves. You can choose to be positive and loving or negative and fearful. It is an opportunity for expansion and self-empowerment! It is like a young adult leaving his affluent and loving parents' home and striking it out on his own to realize himself. You are here to experience your power as a god. Physical reality is not for the faint hearted. You need to be courageous to do it.
Jesus was not perfect. Paul said: Jesus learned obedience from his suffering. So did the Prodigal Son.
Jesus came to earth to remind everyone that they too have a Jesus personality within them.
Jesus came to earth to remind everyone that they are made of the same fabric as him and that they can be like him. We are all one.
So let Jesus be your mentor. Stop following him. Focus on his message instead. It is universal and timeless. He taught unconditional love.
Psalm 82: "Ye are Gods, children of the most high."

The Bible tells us what hell is like using symbols such as the lake of fire 🔥, the worst aspect of hell is an eternity of conscious, guilty, shameful separation from God and all forms of goodness. In that sense, hell is far worse than a literal inferno; a purely physical hell is actually not as terrible as what the Bible describes. Whatever it is physically it’s far worse to be in a place of perpetual suffering and misery, a state of complete separation from God, never-ending and inescapable. More aligned to Hitler than Jesus 🙏 ouch

The problem with hell is that it is a pagan doctrine, not a Biblical one. There is no mention of hell or eternal conscious torment anywhere in the Bible. Sheol, Hades, and Gehenna (mistranslated as "hell" in many Bibles) are not hell. They are not places of eternal conscious torment.
