A short and simple video tutorial on how to crochet the mesh stitch in a 3 chain pattern.
Materials:
Yarn and an appropriately sized crochet hook for that yarn.
In the video, a 4 ply/superfine/sock yarn is used with a 3mm crochet hook.
When I first taught myself to crochet this is the stitch I did first. My husband's aunt said it wasn't crochet. I guess she was wrong. I hate it when people try to discourage you when learning. 😧 glad RUclipsrs make projects with stitch. Great for summer tops and beach bags. Thanks for posting your video 💖
I'm sorry to hear you were discouraged in the past in learning to crochet. I am glad to hear that this tutorial was helpful :)
History Lesson: Single Crochet/Double Crochet (US/UK) came about 1500 CE and Slip Stich was already in use before 100 BCE.
Note: I forgot what is the most accurate year they were started in use, but some crocheter on RUclips had the time to do some reseach on history of crochet.
Great stich! Love the two-way stretch and it was so easy once I got the hang of doing a slip stitch. My fingers kept wanting to do a single crochet, I haven't been crocheting long and this is the first pattern that used a slip stitch. Thank you for posting.
Thank you! Using this to make chainmail for a Halloween costume
Been doing this stitch to make Chain Mail. Is there any way to stop it from developing a curve along the foundation?
I think I´m going to do socks, like fishnet socks. Beatiful! Thank you for sharing!
Stop at 1:22.
Leaving my place for later!
Thank you for your easy teach💕
I wonder if I could make this to use as the canvas in locker hooking.
My favourite stitches. I love all kind the mesh stitches 🌹
Now to make crochet chain mail!!!!
thank you for this tutorial. my question, how can I go from this stitch to double crochet please
Love this mesh. Can I ask how you would go about increasing it?
hey! loved your video. do you know how i can make a decrease or a increase in this kind of stitch?
Thanks sweety, very nice!
Thank you so much for this easy tutorial!! How do you increase stitches in rows? And if you were to do 4 chains or 5 chains instead of 3, what multiples of chains do you need as your foundation ?
It's been 2 years...have you figured it out yet?? If so please tell me how to do it.
Lovely, thanks a lot! 😘
beautiful stitch. is there a way I can make a triangular version instead of a square? I want to make some netting for corner storage :)
Hi- a great question! I had never tried mesh stitch in a triangle- but after some fiddling around I worked it out this afternoon. I’ve just got a bit of editing and I’ll put up the how to tutorial (it’s a guide not a formal pattern though). A quick cut of it is over on IG. Hope this all helps!
The full triangle mesh stitch video "experiment" is up now :) Hope it is helpful.

How do you increase and decrease the mesh pattern?
Don't know about increasing but at the end you have to do chain 1 and double crochet in the last stitch and then start your second row with chain 2 and slip stitch then continue doing chain 3 and slip stitch for decrease.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but maybe working 2 chains in a single loop you've created from the chains before could maybeee increase the pattern. Guess I'll have to test it out soon :)
