Am 85 years & my parents drove this road 4 times to California from St. Louis ( took highway 40 from Indiana, then 66) where my dad worked in the shipyards, Drove a blue Pontiac all that time. Mother would read to my brother & I from the Burma signs. Was 8 years old the last trip back home. Lots of memories!
Cool !!! Love to go there !!!!
Thank you so much. I always wanted to drive 66 but the wife got sick and will never get to go. Thank you for this video my wife and I watched it twice. At least we got to see Oatman before we died. 😜
Oatman was such an unexpected delight for my wife and I about 20 years ago. We were headed back to Laughlin from Lake Havasu and London Bridge and just lucked onto it. Then we missed the turnoff for the direct route back to Laughlin and took old 66 back to Kingman, One of those unforgettable experiences that happened totally by accident and that I'll never forget!
92 went there..April it was slow..
Hello,
My wife and I are French and we love to visit the USA, already 4 long stays. We did this part of Route 66 in September 2019 ... but in reverse. And next year, it's planned to do the entire Route 66 from Chicago to L.A., still in Harley-Davidson.
Thanks for your videos.
Your comment didn't get the heart sign to show appreciation from the youtuber. Maybe the US doesn't like the French that much.🤣
1967 we drove from Springfield Illinois to LA on the mother road. What a wonderful memory to have. Great experience! We have taken this route many times in our retirement the last 15 years and it is one of our favorites too. I’m so happy to see so many people in Oatman. Keep on touring and sharing the adventures. You do a great job. 👍🏻❤️🙏
Once again " Hopalong Russ" has taken us on a "Back to the Future Adventure" of the old Rt 66. Thanks again Russ!! 👍👍🙋♂️
🙋♀️Hello Russ! Sure was a perfect picture postcard day. Not even a cloud in the sky. It was fun to see all the excitement people have when they see the Donkeys. They are adorable. I think they thrive for the attention. One of the main attractions next to the Gunslingers. Hope you enjoy the rest of your day. This was a really nice day for riding the scenic route to Klingman.👍
OOPS! I meant Kingman.
I could travel with on video all day long. I love them. I don't like to see them end.
thank you
Thank you for this video of Oatman Arizona historic Route 66 and Burros.
That was awesome Russ, thank you very much
This is my backyard, TOPOCK AZ, baby, love it!
Thank you so much. I'm sitting here in Sydney, Australia, and reminiscing about my time driving through Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona back in the early 90s. I didn't travel this route but loved the type of landscape and thoroughly enjoyed your quality video. Makes me want to come back. Cheers brother. (Great music btw)
Thanks at all for memories..........
Been to Oatman twice, never get tired of Route 66. Nothing beats a desolate desert road.🌵☮️
its beautiful as heck! i can truly say the same! nothing !!! beats a desolate desert road. ima hang that phrase up in my house!
Truly am enjoying this drive with you. Mostly only natives enjoy the sights of brown hills and scrub brush... I find it beautiful. Thank you for the trip...
Haven't been to Oatman for a while. Last time was in the dead of Summer, and crowds were pretty thin LOL. Burros were getting into the shops, and getting shooed away. Pure Arizona, right there.
I remember as a young kid, coming from Illinois to CA. On hiway 66 and going thru Oatman. Thanks 👍😊
ANOTHER great video RUSS---THANKYOU FOR THE RIDE---
Thx Russ, Arizona has a National Treasure: YOU❤‼️ It was wonderful meeting you this year and we are heading back to Canada via this Route 66hwy - we are 36 feet long😂‼️😆AND I've been careful as to how many rocks are loaded/stashed in the trailer.😂🙋♀️🛻🇨🇦❤️‼️👍 YOU ARE TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL❤‼️
Thank you
Thanks for sharing. I bet those burrows love fries and chips. Great job, that is now on my bucket list.
I was there couple years ago when me, my dad, uncle and couple of cousins were driving the route 66. Such a cool and historic place.
Wow!!!Wow!!! I love Route 66 and Oatman….I love this scenic route!!!!! Thanks Russ!!!
Love Oatman!!! Last trip was June 2020. Thanks Russ. Love your videos 👍
love this town
Great Video. I love seeing Arizona .
thanks Uncle Roscoe !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Russ, another great video. Back in the summer of 59 I traveled that road in a rambler stationwagon with my mom aunt and 2 cousins going to Colorado. Had to travel the desert at night because cars had no ac. If you look over the side before the summit down in the ravine you can see the remnants of an old car or pickup that went off the road years ago.
Your one hell of a cheerful guy, I’m subbed
I live in the UK I can not travel and your fantastic. !!!
Bravo.
Raph..yes it's fun to ride along with Russ and it sure saves us on that high priced gas lol .. good luck to you across the big pond .. God Bless
I love the donkey photos!!
Wow Russ compared to other videos last this one is beautiful I hope you are being safe with the virus the new virus is in California and New York stay safe out there from quartzite
Ha, we were at Oatman last year at this time. My wife opened the door of my truck to get something from the backseat and a burro made a beeline towards the truck and grabbed a bag of chips from inside and took off with it. Pretty funny to see.
Interesting a very long trip to the west. Thanks for Sharing.
Too Kool for school haven't heard that in many years thank you Russ regards Dock form Down under Australia...out of lock-down and freedoms back..
I enjoy watching your videos. Thank you
thank you
In the 1970’s my husband and I trucked on 66 on way from south Arkansas to Los Angeles. We drove on Route 66 while watching I-40 being built.
Fantastic Ride! Thank You! I've been down this road years ago and it was such a pleasure going down it again with you!! 🤗❤️
I lived in Oatman for 10 years in the 90s. The stories I could tell! Great time in my life, didn't make lots of money, but...the stories I could tell! LOL!
Having just visited Oatman, why oh why would you live there? The desert....the heat..lack of any basic stores
@@rodneybrown4304 Well, if I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand.
Hi Russ,
I bet you would have loved to take a buggy ride in the “dusty nugget” out in that area.
Once again outstanding upload.
Cheers,
Passed through there last Monday taking 66 through from Kingman.
Thanks for the video!!!
Great video. Love those burros and your drone shots!!

We actually went that route 3 times in the same day in October!! Visiting burro sanctuaries!! I had to go back to Oatman to shop and see the town herd in person!!😉❤️
ENJOYED! Thanks Russ.
Schinarump ...Thanks RUSS ✌💜🎼🎶🎵
Cool video Russ. Larry and Carrie from Kingman 😃👍🤠
Been theough the area many times. Never got to meet any of our burro friends though.
That trip thru Oatman brought back such great memories on that road. Excellent vid, thanks Russ. 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
Virginia Beach in the house 🏡 thank you for all the Visual journeys
Next time in Las Vegas I am coming down to Oatman.
Thank you for this I will never be able to go because I’m afraid of heights so I lived vicariously through you on this trip
I love Oatman! Been there twice. Can't wait to go back.
Pretty!
Nice video, thank you! Ron USA
Nice video! Of course I'm a sucker for anything with animals! Lol. Thanks. Now I want to go to that little town and the Cool Springs stop.
Great post Sir!!!
Traveling through Oatman once walking along by Hotel stated, Clark Gable spent one of his Honeymoons there. We even toured the Room.
Bring carrots for the burros!
Will be doing that drive ( and a bunch of 66 from Tulsa west) in October! Really looking forward to it! Will make sure we have some carrots on board for the Burros!
This will be about a third of the way through our 14,000 km road trip this fall to celebrate my wifes retirement on Oct 6! 😂
Mike & Ally
Hello Russ😊😊, how about those BURROS! Definitely a great attraction on Route 66.
If you are going back to Ca via the I-40 make sure to fill up in Boulder across from Needles with gas. we barely made it to Barstow, the head wind sucked the gas right out of the car.
hi russ happy easter to you stay safe and well on your travels tom protzman wisconsin.
Beautiful day to wander outside. That town reminds me of movie set/location of Shanghai Noon. Wishing desert gets showers help out the flora & fauna take care out there
Wow great video and such memories! While staying in Vegas 20 years ago we rented a car and drove this road and went to Oatman and Kingman. Loved it!! Hope to one day do a much longer road trip on rt 66.
Too cool for school!!!
I LIVE RITE DOWN THE HILL IN MOHAVE VALLEY. GREAT PLACE TO RIDE THE MOTORCYCLE TO. IM SURPRISED I DONT SEE ANY DESERT CHRISTMAS TREES ON THE BUSHES THAT LINE THE ROAD UP THERE YET. 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Awesome tour Russ, love to travel along the Route 66 through Arizona someday soon!!!
One thing about Arizona... when walking the desert you MUST always look were you are walking... there are hidden tunnel entrances which can kill you. Same is true in cattle ranching area... often the cattle will be out walking the desert and they use highways like sidewalks.
I took this route to Oatman and I rushed it, I wish I had had more time, I didn't even get out of my car....guess I have a reason to go back, I took rte 66 from just n of lake havasu city and then onto all those rte 66 towns on the way to Flagstaff.
HI, From Argentina
This one was Too Cool for school.
Russ, took this exact drive with my parents just over three years ago when we were in Laughlin with them for a short stay. One of the last trips my wife and I were able to take with them before they died in the last 20 months. It is a fun drive for sure along old 66. Lots of little places to stop off and have a snack or a drink. Having driven with my Dad through Kingman on the way out to Palm Springs many times, it was fun to take these back roads and see all the fun. We took 93 north out of Kingman and up to Dolan Springs area and stopped off for a beer before heading back to Laughlin. Can't wait until I am retired and have more time to explore all of these fun areas.
"before they died in the last 20 months." Of "covid", presumably.
@@internetcensure5849 no, not related to covid at all.
We've been to Oatman a number of times. The simulated bank robbery and western gun fight was great and also remarkable how much money it generated to go to charity. Great restaurant too.
Yay it's Russ!
Great, danke:)
Bravo.
Russ ... was it Oatman that had a mule for Mayor ... or some public office? I know there was a town in Arizona that for a while had a mule in public office ... and the town ran just fine. Maybe that is who should be in Washington.
Your English accent is for any particular area in the U.S. ? I like your videos, cheers from Ireland 🇮🇪 👍
you missed the fish bowl.......natural spring that was damned off years ago, usually fish in it......maybe 5 feet across👍
Very nice footage. I noticed for your dashcam you used a GoPro. What type of mount did you use to mount in to your windshield? I like your footage because you don't have any of the car hood showing. I have an older model GoPro 7 Black and will be using that next month when we go and would love to video as we are driving. Thanks so much and thanks for sharing your video. New subscriber here!!
Andy Devine was from Kingman.
@Jeff Merhar "Those donkeys are beggars" Yes, and given that they are being fed generously they are all having a BEGGARS BANQUET (if that Rolling Stones LP title is still known).😊
Hey! You did not show the garage/store/restaurant as you descend out of the mountains. Reminds me of a tiny version of Disney’s “Radiator Springs”
Bring your own carrots !! they are EXPENSIVE there lol
At my last visit to Oatmen, a mining company truck struck the one and only main power pole in Oatman. It fell blocking traffic on the one and only mainstreet in Oatman for hours. I didn't check, but I'm sure it was headline news in the Oatmen newspaper, if they have one! With burros comes burro poop, which you can purchase while supplies last, just kidding!
My kitten "Bear" likes watching your videos. She taps at the cars as they pass😂❤️
We were coming back from Sedona area and went through Kingman, they said go to Atman, of course we had no idea of was in front of us, we went through the back way, unfortunately watching this is a spoiler alert. We were blown away, make sure to have carrots and gloves, the donkeys will not get out of the way, they want you to feed them they will cry if you do not, your hands will smell after you pet them.
Aloha Russ, nice clear videos are there any McDonald's near this area? Juss wonderin seems like Mc D's are everywhere?😁
"TO COOL FOR SCHOOL" Y E A !!!
Can you take small dogs into the shops in Oatman?
Since Duke the Alpha Burro passed away the younger male Burros have become increasingly obnoxious. We love to have lunch and a drink at the Hotel bar.
Get your kicks on route 66
People should not encourage the burros to be along the road by feeding them.
The east side of the pass is white-knuckle... too many drivers cross that double yellow line and there's no place for west-bound drivers to go besides driving off a cliff... I won't do the east side of that pass again.
I lived there it was great unfortunately the money wasnt
Dont you have anything else to do besides drive around. Jk love your show
The burros were homeless and panhandling
Cars was not shot there, or anywhere, it's animated. U silly goose 🪿 😜
Oatman looks a lot like Sturgis in August.
DON'T GO! I'd give this place zero stars if I could.
Oatman is full of bigots and racists. Absolutely horrible backwater little nothing place in the middle of nowhere. The trip started out great but quickly went downhill. The "locals" are horrible people...one followed me and took photos of my butt.
We took our dog with us and there were at least 8 or 9 other dogs as well. The "people in charge " targeted me and my family and followed us around the park telling us to keep our dog away from the donkeys...which we were. We know the donkeys are wild and unpredictable.
One of the "people in charge" said it again (this was time number 8). I said thank you but we understand and will watch her and it's not necessary to keep saying it.
She gets rude and threatens me and threatens to "lock me up because I'm a threat and so is my dog"
How either myself or my small dog are threats I have no clue. We were simply enjoying our walk. (I'd like to add that a little girl was with her family nearby and was FEEDING THE DONKEYS HOT CHEETOS IN FRONT OF THESE PEOPLE. The "people in charge did nothing)
A donky gets spooked by one of the locals and moves towards me. The woman who threatened me "cheers" for the donkey to keep going and attack my dog. (My dog was over 7 feet away with my dad.)
This town if full of toxic people with no redeeming qualities.
Absolutely the worst place to visit.
How strange ,,,,,,,,
