When I lived there, that was actually a fairly good job. My friend Gino used to get $1 a day from each shop, about 35 in all, and took about an hour, first thing in the morning, before the sun or anyone else but me was up...the place where I cooked the was only breakfast in town. Gino would also clean the streets throughout the day when there were events in town with lots of people and trash. I have actually covered for him occasionally, so he could have a day off once in a while!
The U.S. has the most amazing atmospheric places and scenery. The out of the way rural places were just wonderful and I met so many friendly people. The driving was also much less stressful than here in Europe.
Last spring when you took that super bloom drive thur Rt 66 to Oatman. A few days later I took my wife and sister on that route 66 from Topock to Oatman. And seen the super blooms it was great we really enjoyed that drive. Glad I had seen it on RVer TV.
The Hotel bar is really neat. Cool, reasonable prices and always friendly with a lots of character. If they still serve the Navajo Tacos by all means try one.
another great video. Went to Oatman last winter a great town to visit. We met last year at the book store see you in Quartzite again this year . safe travels
Late 40's early 50's my Uncle Earl wintered in Arizona. Along with Aunt Ollie and kids Danny and Sharon pulled a trailer from Dundee, MI to AZ along this road with a flat head, std. transmission, 6 cylinder Studebaker. Can't imagine!
The Oatman Hotel was the honeymoon stop for Clark Gable & Carol Lombard after their wedding In Kingman 3/18/39. Gable often frequented the area and played poker with the miners. The town is named after Olive Oatman an Illinois girl captured by Indians in 1851 during her pioneer family’s journey westward and she was forced into slavery, later traded to the Mohave Indians & finally released in 1856 at Fort Yuma Arizona . In 1921 a fire destroyed most of the buildings but the Oatman Hotel built in 1902
If you want to see another interesting mountain try Harquahala mountain Observatory. Lots of story boards and picnic areas. Highest peak in western Arizona.
This place was amazing when i visited in 2017. They even put on a show 'bank robber vs sheriff' doing a duel in the middle of the road. It was awesome fun little story and was just great entertainment. Heavily recommend this place. The bar was nice too!
For those of you out there old enough to know Paul McCartney, he and his then girlfriend, later wife, took a cross country road trip in 2008, the year Paul turned 66. People could not believe it when he and Nancy visited museums, pulled into gas stations and did normal touristy things, including camping one night. Lots of references to the trip on Google. I remember it getting on my local news---which is exactly what the two of them did not want.
Look up the history of Olive Oatman, for whom the town was named. There was a character in the tv show, Hell On Wheels, loosely based on her true story.
This is just like going home! Lived in Oatman for 10 years in the 90's! The first stop, just past Sitgreaves Pass brings back some good memories. We used to call that place the "Office", for some inexplicable reason.
What a nice ride. Great stretch of highway, very pretty. Excellent drone footage, as always. Definitely a bucket list place to visit. Cute town. Love seeing the burros roaming free. 😊👍
Oh yes Oatman one of my favorite places to visit. I love going there it's a total blast. But I love the desert and most people don't. Just visited there last spring 2021 🎇
Great video! I’ve been thru there and loved the burros! I lived in the Coachella Valley and miss traveling around the desert. Now I’m in the woods of Arkansas and quite a contrast. Thanks!
Was there last year with my Mavic Drone. I did a programmed flight exactly where you are. Very cool. Oatman was cool too. Felt like I was back in the old West. Had a couple brews there..
Beautiful area..but not big rig friendly. I thought I heard there was a length restriction for traveling that area? I would camp outside the area and drive the toad in. This is a bucket list place.
I've been through Oatman many times your video would be much better if you had done some home work and gave a few hints about the history that's in Oatman like how the burrows came to be there the famous people that have stayed at the hotel and such
Where you're headed out of town I had to move the little girls off the road cuz they wouldn't let anybody through and we were lined up someone took a picture of me in the long lineup of cars
Have you ever done aa video starting at Douglas Arizona going North on 191 ??? Years ago it was 666, even as a kid i remember it had to do with the Devil. Just asking TYVM. Joaquin in Tucson
Where you saw those Wagon Wheel she should have went in at least got a brochure of the lady that that own that place it's a little restaurant in the side back after she got rescued from the from the Indian said she had a tattoo face
@@roberttangen2942 .....I saw him on The Nanny, I thought he was a dancer and actor like Fred Astaire. You know your movie career has taken a nosedive when your sidekick is a talking mule. LOL. Mr. Ed was a Palomino, I believe.
Your vlogs are very entertaining for me..I too enjoy traveling across the country visiting different places??? Need company? 😎🙄😁Lol too bad for I work alot😟.
Russ, could you imagine what it was like driving vehicles on that road back in the days when they were stick shift, no power brakes or steering. Miners are definitely a special breed. Pretty country.
My wife and I have been to Oatman a few times. Funny we park in that same parking lot. Lots of junk in the stores, but I bought a super good motorcycle jacket and a holster in the leather shoppe there. I forget the name of it. Great video as always Russ.
I'm from the Four Corner's States! Love my Mountains and Deserts; although having traveled this country extensively by motorcycle I see beauty everywhere I go. Yea Rah Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Arizona ❤❤❤❤
My wife and I enjoyed feeding the burros and touring the gold mine in Oatman. You can buy carrots to feed the donkeys. They just roam around the town. I wouldn't want to be the town's pooper scooper.
When I lived there, my friend Geno did that. He got $1 per day, per shop, and there were approx. 30 shops. It took him less than an hour very early in the morning, and he did a very good job. It paid him over $30/hr. He also did all sorts of odd jobs, and and was always busy...and he made better money than almost everyone else in town, including the business owners. Seems to me it's good work, if you can get it! LOL!
They also have burros wandering around the town of Cripple Creek, Colorado. They are descendants of the burros that worked the gold mines there in the 1890’s.
Fantastic videos of the Oatman Highway! I have to send my driver with an 18 wheeler to that mine to load a mining scoop. Now I know to come in from the west. Don't want to mess around on those switchbacks at 78' long. Thanks
Good memories driving with my dad , now living in Asia great videos and memories remember him saying turn off the aircon are we will boil over in the chev wagon
Nice Video, you did not mention that the Oatman Hotel is where Clark Gable and Carol Lombard spent their Honeymoon, he like Oatman and went often and played cards with the miners
I was told the mine(gold) was shut down, cost to much to dig it out. Also the name of Oatman came from a long old story about a girl that was kidnapped by the indians. Don't think she ever was in Oatman though. Also you need to visit Julian Cal. It is near San Diego. Also the donkeys are wild. They leave every day then return in the am. Always wondered where they go at nite..
I told my wife we should retire in Oatman. I could be the donkey cleaner upper. It would be perfect. My current job is kinda crappy.
When I lived there, that was actually a fairly good job. Hey, Paul Winer died. I don't know that you knew?
Late 40's early 50's my Uncle Earl wintered in Arizona. Along with Aunt Ollie and kids Danny and Sharon pulled a trailer from Dundee, MI to AZ along this road with a flat head, std. transmission, 6 cylinder Studebaker. Can't imagine!
Clark Gable and Carol Lombard spent their honeymoon in the Oatman hotel.
who?
I loved the afternoon I spent in Oatman. The bar inside the Hotel was fun also.. can't wait to go back there again
16:38 Haha so funny 'there going to town for a bear n some nibbles 'great video especially for someone who doesn't live in the Sates.

Love that area and the history that it has ,buck from Boston
As a coach operator the biggest I know of is 45', 25,000 kg. When I visited Oatman in Dec not a burro was in site. Don't remember so many buildings.
Compliments to the videographer, fine job.🗽🗽🔧🔧🐴🐴.there must be 💰💰in them thar hills.
Good day Russ , I am enjoying your run to Oatman .The drone shots are really 💖👍👍.Keep them coming ,Take Care Be Safe . ✌✌👌

Enjoyed this. Cute town

1:31 In the bottom left corner of the screen I can see a person. Wow...am eagle-eye...
Great videos. Memories for me.❤️❤️❤️❤️

16:29 I love that skinny mountain, it’s Boundary Cone.
I just love ghost towns of the West and Southwest. I live in Santa Fe New Mexico.
Clark Gable spent his honeymoon there and he liked the area so much that he came back to play poker with the miners.
I was waving to you and I love oatmen
Beautiful area..but not big rig friendly. I thought I heard there was a length restriction for traveling that area? I would camp outside the area and drive the toad in. This is a bucket list place.
Muy bonito👌👍👍👍👍
Through Topock Golden Shores.

Great video. What camera were you using for the dashcam?
Love your videos, makes me think of the old west, so relaxing, wide open spaces! Mining in 2019!
Have you ever done aa video starting at Douglas Arizona going North on 191 ??? Years ago it was 666, even as a kid i remember it had to do with the Devil. Just asking TYVM. Joaquin in Tucson
I was there in 2008 used 66 went to hotel were Clark Gable slept on honey moon
This looks rocky, sandy!!! Lol
Where you saw those Wagon Wheel she should have went in at least got a brochure of the lady that that own that place it's a little restaurant in the side back after she got rescued from the from the Indian said she had a tattoo face
watch out for that long, long trailer...lol
2:49 Actually there are two people. One wearing black clothes while the other one wearing a White shirt.
I’m sure you’ve been asked before but what drone do you use?
Is it the place someone killed the miles. ,,,🐎🐎🐎
Why do you call it a ghost town with all those people visiting local businesses?
Mr. Ed was a horse, not a Burro lol
DAVID GEE How about Francis the Talking Mule. There was series of movies with Francis the Mule with Donald OConner
@@roberttangen2942 .....I saw him on The Nanny, I thought he was a dancer and actor like Fred Astaire. You know your movie career has taken a nosedive when your sidekick is a talking mule. LOL. Mr. Ed was a Palomino, I believe.
Gotta love our donkeys. They are more like big rats.
Kenneth Wagner - they’re a lot cuter than rats - lol
I can't wait until you get old so you will drive slow, Lol
Your vlogs are very entertaining for me..I too enjoy traveling across the country visiting different places??? Need company? 😎🙄😁Lol too bad for I work alot😟.

I wanna buy all the Ghost Towns in the US. No matter what but the US is in my 💕.
Waving back. Nice drone footage.
I remember going through Oatman when I was young on route 66. I'd forgotten about the borrows. That's so cool!!
Fab video Russ. Keep em coming. Viewing them England

In your first drone shot it looked to me that there was a small crack in the earth. Thank you for the tour. Safe travels.

Awesome video wow 🛠👍👍🇨🇦
Took a 30ft RV through the old 66 there....pretty dodgy...🤣🤣😉🇦🇺🇦🇺
I love Oatman and all those donkeys....I think I could live with the donkeys.
They also have burros wandering around the town of Cripple Creek, Colorado. They are descendants of the burros that worked the gold mines there in the 1890’s.

They are burros and are actually wild. They live in the valley below Oatman and leave town each night...
Foxfire (1955) was filmed there with Jane Russell and Jeff Chandler !
We went through there in 1953, going east from the LA area all the way over into Texas on US 66.
The mine brings back memories. I've dated, married some gold diggers and it always ends in regrets.
Maria a rvtv are together rvtv is showing the beTiby a maria is along for a delightful view yes r tv you hot the attention

Good memories driving with my dad , now living in Asia great videos and memories remember him saying turn off the aircon are we will boil over in the chev wagon

@@rvertv Thanks for your reply Russ.
Big thanks for Oatman, we love thus place.....
They used to stage a gun fight on sunday do they still do that???
Yup still do, at 12 and 2.
all lives matter Oatman, Arizona, last bastion of political incorrectness.
It IS a ghost town?? I see people living in the houses
In real life

You should have gone into the hotel the walls and ceiling are covered in $1 bills ( I’ve heard there are about $10.000.
I love this video! I hope to take this drive soon! Thank you!
What a cool town. Oatman is now on my bucket list! Thanks for the video!
traveled rt 66 as a chid with family every summer
You didn't go up far enough where I would have a beer
