- Опубликовано: 12 июл 2024
- This is a friends race car that was recently purchased from another race team and in need of some cleaning. In this episode, I show how that a microfiber cutting pad can be used to remove rubber marks and residue glue from the sticker removal process. This trick will save you time IF you are compounding/polishing the paint anyways. I also show proper technique for safe and easy sticker removal from your vehicles paint without destroying the clear coat or your finger tips! :)

The neighbors must love him. lol
Thanks for the glue removal tip. I'm so glad you are not my neighbor. That car can't be legal surely? 😄
That is a great race car: fast and loud, what a blast to drive!!! Great video very instructional, thanks.
Another great video Larry you're a good man.
can't stop watching your vids, thank you for that.
Cheers from Portugal
Hopefully doing one for Drive Clean this season
This is going to be so useful after my track day Saturday. Thank you thank you!
Good idea!
love your videos bro! keep it up!
Good point
Done! Thank you for all your information and sharing. I really appreciate it.
Also, now I know what I need to clean up my track car! :)
Wow, that's nice and quick!
What grade compound do you recommend for this purpose?
Thanks again
That is the same house where you did the class cleaning episode I believe. Great videos I am learning so much keep it up!
MP50(WD40) is great for removing rubber and sticker adhesive, I work as a detailer for a Chrysler dealership/used car dealer for a few years now and I have learned that if you let it sit for a few seconds it brakes it down for easy removal.
thank you!!!! couldn't get that glue off and I was working at it for days. imma go get a pad tomorrow and get these ugly ass lines off my beautiful truck finally. any suggestions on which compound to use?
Thank you, Larry!
Yup. This is just a trick IF you are going to polish the paint anyways...but yeah, a solvent based cleaner will work great too. Thx Faiz
“Be an animal about it, stay close don’t pull out”
🤔
Could not get the sticker the stupid dealership puts on for their own advertisement. Finally decided to RUclips it and you helped out and I finally got it off. Thank you very much and love the car and sound !
Larry .. How can i remove the sticker residue from the bonnet ?
Loving the tips once again.
I've learnt a lot watching your videos and reading through Detailingworld, could you possibly do a "hot to" video on the best techniques for hand polishing? I don't see spending £150+ on a polisher just yet. ha
Love the tips, I've definitely spent HOURS on stickers before. Do you ever detail motorcycles?
always looking forward to you videos!
I was wondering, I saw a set of three polishing pads for about 10 US-$,
since you mentioned it in your video: Are polishing pads reusable?
Do I just wash it out and its ready to go?
Hope to see you on DriveClean again soon!
Thx :)
What do I use on the micro cutting pad to take off the old residue off,is there anything similar to your product
Using you hands or plastic razor is fine. Hands are a bit gentler than the plastic razor. Either way works.
That Mustang sure does look like a lot of fun!
good info, helped me out
Would it be a good idea to apply a little wax or spray detail before putting on stickers?
Cause I know people like to strip all protection from car before doing vinyl or stickers.
Hello sir, You made a video recommending using PlastiDip on race cars. Do you happen to know if you need to re-wax it once you remove it? I'm afraid of how deeply the plastidip penetrates, but am curious to use it on a long road trip!
Thanks for the videos!! =D
Wow that worked great!
I'm from Westchester County. I swore I saw your van at Home Depot in Elmsford. But yeah, awesome vid once again.
Questions:
1 I was told that using your finger nails is bad because you can scratch the paint. Does that depend on how thick the sticker is?
2 Would a hair blowdryer be effective to take out stickers or a heat gun is necessary?
3 Do you have any recommendations for taking out glossy (laminated) stickers on the paint?
when stickers are well heated, not too much becouse if you overheat sticker you're overheating paint too, making it really easy to damage while trying to scrape it off. If paint is not overheated you cant almost damage it at all, and even if you do it anyway its easy to polish it after. i dont think it will be that effective, because it got wider spread of heat. You can take off stickers without any heat tho, but its much much easier if you heat them first, wich depends from quality of sticker.
Try steam, so much easier
i love how this guy that owns this is a cop at least i think from seeing that white taho doing all this :D i love it great video
You know....I have no idea anymore. Very frustrating. Leave a comment on the latest Drive Channel video asking that very question. Thx for your help! -L
Ty for ur Advice 👍🏼
Question, I work at a high end dealership. They use liquor thinner to remove the glue from new vehicles. I know that causes scratches, what are your thoughts on his? I don’t feel comfortable using this, there has to be a better way.
I bought a vintage bicycle that has a bunch of stickers and glue residue from different tapes I removed. And products you recommend? I want to avoid damaging the paint or clear coat. The stickers look like crappy standard stickers, old and faded and stuck on. Thanks!
Question Larry: With race cars and paint maintenance in mind, do you know of any motorsports teams that make paint corrections or apply wax/sealant in an effort to reduce drag? I'm thinking Formula One but I imagine the pain (if it's even paint??) is super thin as every gram on the car is questioned.
Are you applying any polish or just quickly moving the polisher back and forth ? Sorry if you addressed this and I missed it
Nope, doesnt hurt the paint. Most dont like the way it looks though...but its perfectly safe
One question as my track car also has stickers on it : how do you work with them? Polish them or go around? Same problem with wax...
What would you recommend on getting stickers off the inside of the windscreen and windows of a car? I've got some stickers that need removing from the previous owner!
Scott Hudson razor blade dude
I was hoping you could help me. While removing stripes from my 15 challenger the glue got stuck on my spoiler and bumper and nothing seems to touch it. Goo gone, heavy compound by hand and towel and a foam wool pad. Even tried nail polish remover, while on wipe off, hose off. Any suggestions?
Off road x midpipe sounds too raspy. Slap an H pipe on there and it will sound much better IMO.
Thats what I did??? (I was showing my fingers to explain what happens if you dont use heat) Thx for watching! -L
ey brotha, whats your take on plastidiping a car? instead of taping it? got my wifes tt all shined up (after 4 hours of 3 step and elbow grease ) lol but we gonna travel up north and the roads are pretty bad , i already have my civic plastidiped , been diped for a year now. no complaints. your thoughts
Just removed a sticker and now the paint is darker where the sticker originally was from masking the sun. Any tips for how to get it to go back to normal? Will this happen over time with the sun? Thank you!
any tips on hardened clearcoat over a touched up chip?
Motorcylces coming this spring
Hated doing that job so much, i worked for a Winger car dealership that always got us to de-sticker cars for no extra pay of course..sometimes it took hours
hi, i noticed alot of ppl like to put tapes at the front of the car and the mirror to prevent rubber or stones from hitting the panels at high speed. does the tape hurt the paint? thx
Hey Larry what are your go-to polishes and compounds?
That works too....how about razor blade?
Kinda insane how the brand name "AMMO" belongs to a detailer in the US, haha. With all the gun nuts you would think someone would have used it a long time ago
Smenny Old post but I believe the way these trademark laws work is that as long as you're not pretending to be another company you're generally fine. Nobody would confuse AMMO here with a gun shop in the same area.
When the tar transfers from the paint to the pad won't it proceed to get swirled around on the paint causing marring? Is this the same procedure you would use on a correction job or is it just a quick and dirty way to go about removing the tar on a car that perfection isn't necessary?
Hey little problem my uncle got his car washed ... and the trill came off the person doing the job used super glue to cover it up and spilt it all over the car paint how could we get it off ? thanks for your help
- Good information...
I used olive oil and it worked but it left outlines of where the residue was. Any solutions?
Any tips for fixing the damage done from overheating a sticker and pulling off paint? The adhesive was completely bonded with the paint.
Didn't they have a preview video for 2013 that had you coming back in the fall? Or are they pulling out of that?
what about GUM how do i remove gum ? yes someone stick a gum on my car .
Put peanutbutter on it and it'll become like plaster and you can wipe it of
Do you detail motorcycles? Would be an awesome lesson for me thanks.
Awesome
Stainless razor blades are ok for glass, then naptha (lighter fluid), denatured alcohol, or acetone to remove any remaining adhesive :)
I bet the neighbors loved that.
larry, I can't help but wonder, I use to detail at a high end dealer and thus why I know of them, But for stickers, why not use some heat and rather then mess up your hands, use a plastic razor? Worked well for me, no scratches on the paint/clear.
Not all of us have fancy machinery like you do dude we’re looking for a fucking easy fix removal of stickers and adhesive !
Is it safe to use Goo Gone on paint?
What about a car that has had the sticker removed but still has residue and sticker left on a window?
use window cleaner and a razor blade. I have a few videos on cleaning windows. check them out
What series is it built for?
hey the tred wear glue it all over my tire how do I remove
Is this a video to show out with the car or something that can help us?
Ha...That was definitely me!
Car sounds like my lawn mower when idling lol
Email me with car details and I can push you in the right direction
that thing sounds crazy
I see someone use WD-40 to remove Glue and Stickers much easier. Is that a good way if I don't have heater ?
Kelvin KMS hair dryer will work too man. WD-40 will strip your paint of it's protections so you'll have to wash, seal polish again
hair dryer need to plug into power core. Not convenient.
Kelvin KMS you'd need power for a heatgun too. ultimately like I said, you can just re-finish the car after you use WD-40. Look for other not-so-strong solvents to see if you can minimize damage to pain bud
Kelvin KMS are you fucking stupid? Its plugging in a cord
Thats much easier than cleaning, glaze, sealing and wax a car
Stupid fuck
Does anyone know if this would work on old gum stuck to a bottom of a car door?
Use eraser wheel. I did my cobra 2003 for a fraction of price got 12 in double strip. And got it out in half day of work in my garage using nothing but a 3/8 drill and a microfiber towel to get the powder getting from sticker out. Just watch out not to use it on bumpers you can use a heat gun on bumpers but not a heat gun on car paint. Its gonna take you a lot of time. Eraser wheel and 3/8 drill from walmart will do it.
This seems to be good for removing large stickers, but what about smaller dealership stickers?
should work just the same.
There is also another good technique which is, before you put the stickers, just stick them to your shirt first, or to a piece of cloth, and then remove them and stick it to your car. The glue will pick up cloth fibers, and it will be strong, but it will be a lot easier to remove. Obviously this is only if you put the stickers yourself and wan't to remove them later.
i have an old police car with leftover dried up decals that are over 13 yrs old. i'm having a rough time getting them off.
just wait for a good cold rain and it comes right up. Do it wet and its soooo ez.
WD40 & IPA. Enjoy watching my Wife’s Camry hand it to the Mustangs weekly...Cause and Effect!
Is that a Flex, Rupes or Porter Cable? The body looks like a Porter Cable.
Is nobody gonna comment on that sexy Tahoe PPV sitting outside when he backs the car out?
Tried every product and didn’t have any joy, then used steam via a wallpaper stripper cut the job time in half!
Great video, but dude the noise in your neighborhood... 🙄
I've seen videos where people just use their commercial grade steamer to remove the stickers and gunk.
did u say shitty little town :)
for bitumen ,use ''
margarine''
Man, the other day i fucked my finger nails breaking up a dog fight so each time you use your nails to get the sticker, i flinch everytime
Could this car sound any better? Geez. How was the accident at 9:08? Lol.
DUB C!!!!!!!
boosted GT?
Go to 4:02 for the part of the video that relates to the title.
how to remove superglue on the car paint
This isn't Google, moron
So basically just live in Florida and peel the sticker off
I've used NAFTA for 25 years and never had an issue. I also use it to clean my guitars and I again have never had a problem. Is it as fast as your heat gun...ummm...nope. I wouldn't use a heat gun on today/s rubber bumpers either though..that's why I use NAFTA...for me it's fool proof...heehee. Later man.
I got glue on my rims with a transport in my car trying to figure a way to get it off
dat sound tho
