I keep a pepper grinder and a container of 50/50 mix of salt and MSG in my work bag. Great for putting on takeaway food. Makes food sing.

Just food for thought the container the Big Mac is served in weighs 5 to 10 grams the wrap for the big Jack is like 1 gram and I’m not sure about the bags it’s served in I would recommend weighing it without other elements effecting the outcome I would put money on big Jack actually being heavier

Maccas beef patties are better than the thin pieces of cardboard in HJs, HJs taste better but would be awesome with actual meat patties.

In NZ it's called a Big King, and doesn't have the middle bun and uses the bigger patties and buns, much better

In the UK they used to sell a double whopper without all the salad as a ‘mega double cheeseburger’.
I think one of the only differences is that Hungry Jacks burger bun are made and delivered fresh by Tip Top bakeries, note here if you live in North Queensland they come from Brisbane ' fresh' so you can imaginge the time between baking them and delivery, whereas Macca's bun are made and delivered by Goodman Fielder and depending on where you are they are delivered frozen. Tip Top delivers their buns through their vendor whereas up here in north Queensland the vendors have nothing to do with it. I will say that atleast Tiptop bakeries actually make bread rolls up here against Goodman felder that bakes down south and transports up here. It cost one of their vendors one of his best customers because of this.

I remember when the geniuses at Jackers bought this out initially uh GregO and I quite enjoyed it but hadn’t then and have now had a Mac since the ‘90s uh… I always removed the middle bread as it’s obs surplus to requirements nowadays and will again… great comparative work. Cheers Gibbo
I hate it when you stick your finger in it, lol. I go to, or used to go to Hungry Jacks Surfers Cavill Ave, they are hopeless, they f up orders all the time, and the quality is usually crap, I don't drive so no other choice, so I don't buy it anymore.

People have different views about meat/bread/condiment ratios but I'm big on more beef is better.
The original hamburger (or junior burger in Australian 1970s parlance) and cheeseburger at Maccas has always been 1/10th of a pound or about 45g. The big mac has 2 little burger patties for about 90g in total. I've always preferred the quarter pounder (about 113g) or, even better, the double quarter pounder.
On the HJ side the whopper is similar to the QP but has extra salad (which I quite like) and the double whopper is better again.
It's great that you weigh the burgers etc. - especially in a comparison review.

@@tonys2683 You take the burger out of the box and literally a horrid amount of the orange sauce slop and lettuce falls out , drips all over your hands , your lap, and everything starts falling apart so bad , you have to exit your vehicle so the extra river of sauce can continue to keep draining onto the bitumen and only after the inedible salty sour river has ended you land up with awet salty slop that is barely holding together so you stuff it in your mouth hoping you can save the rest of it from disintegrating You sir have the palette of a six year old, or have eaten hotdogs most your life

Hey mate love the grind, just some unsolicited advise from someone who’s led teams cold calling: your introduction needs some work, if you open with “I’ll be honest I’m just calling about…” people think alright great another cold call. Introduce yourself, ask them how their day is going and try to build rapport. Try to get to a point where they ask you what you’ve called for instead of trying to get your pitch out straight away. Make a 2 minute friend as your primary objection, they will be more engaged when you drop the pitch that way.
I remember when BK released the Big King back in the late 90s. Think they sold it on promotion for $1.99. It was a good alternative to a whopper of you wanted something a bit smaller.

Funnily, I had a Mega Jack tonight (the bigger version of the Big Jack) ... hands down better than the Big Mac/Grand Mac, by far. The Big Jack has a more solid feel, plus that HJ flamegrilled thing and a moister bun. It's not as dry as the Big Mac.

G'day Greg and everyone! First post on this channel and usually I don't post due to my nervousness. I tried the Mega Jack for the first time on the weekend to see what it was like and compared to the burger in this video and other food reviews on RUclips, it was the opposite for me, I had too much sauce. After almost finishing the Mega Jack, the top bun was all gone and it was just the patty and the rest of the burger left. It was so messy to eat, probably more messy than the Big Mac. Cheers all and keep up the great content Greg! ^_^

Good comparison! Shame the Big jack is more expensive. I did notice it looks like HJs use a bun bottom for the middle bun, but Maccas use what looks like more of a middle of a bun (no crust on the bottom of it). The extra crust would make the Big Jack a bit more bland and ''bready''.

For what it's worth, I bought a Mega Mac I think they call it. It was disgusting. It fell apart by the time I got through a third. I threw it in the bin and went for a curry which I should have done in the first place. I am now boycotting Maccas, never to return. Their food has fallen from grace in my opinion.
Next time when you rotate the burger you buy, could you put up one of their advertising pictures for the burger as a comparison ?

I do love Hungry Jacks flame grill meaty flavour but I too found the Big Jack to be a "nothing burger". While the Big Mack is a favourite, the special sauce is what makes it one of a kind.

Big Jack has considerably more sesame seeds on the bun thus considerably enhancing the Flavor profile.
The big Jack is how the Big Macs used to look like here in the netherlands.

Nothing against what you do. But at $34 to $38 a kilogram is crazy. I can buy 500 gm pasta for 89 cents and 500 gm lentils for $1.99. When cooked I have 3kg for base of vegie stew for $2.88. Happy and healthy on vegies.
