I would keep the door on just to keep it dust free.. If someone wants to really look at all the details, they can just open the door... This is so amazing in so many ways! Thanks, Nik! 😍💖
The same here, and also, I have cats that love to steal small things. My dolls are behind glass because of them stealing wigs and trying to steal shoes (doll and all at times).
Wonderful!!!! My mother was a miniaturist (and an artist & instructor). All the miniatures she did, she enclosed - either with a glass cloche or in a box with glass panels ("windows") on three sides. The larger pieces - doll houses & similar projects - she attached plexiglass to allow full viewing while protecting the handcrafted items inside from dust & "fingers." Given the "connection" between the original purpose of the case & your lovely re-interpretation of it as a clock tower, I would most certainly leave the door on. It adds to the authenticity of the case and the wavy glass is a treasure! The one exception would be If you could find an advertisement for the same style clock, re-size & age it, mat it, and then use the removed door - glass intact - as the "frame." It would make a perfect companion piece. Once again, your imaginative vision & skill are truly amazing!!!! I never tire of seeing what you create!! Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi Nik! Love it 😍 I say keep the door on. Especially because there really is no way to clean it. Storing the door leaves too much room for error (lost or broken). Since it is original with rippled glass it would be a shame if that were to happen. The door needs to remain closed (with the welcome sign on it) to keep the hinges from bearing the weight of the glass and becoming warped or misaligned as antiques are prone to do. Keeping the door closed would also prevent accidentally knocking into it and breaking it when the bulls from the China shop visit with their sticky fingered, grabby handed children. Bernadette 🐝
I love this! Leave the glass in since it’s original. You make such quality items; I think it’s because you pay such close attention to the details. I especially like your nighttime lighting and your use of miscellaneous parts of the clock.
Nik, that’s beautiful. I would leave the door on to reduce dust ( lots of that in my house 😂). Also having a door adds to the mystery and leads you to want to explore. X
Stunning Nik. I’d definitely leave the door on. There’s something about the experience of opening the door into that little world I wouldn’t want to lose.
Fantastic! I would leave the door on. The partial view is an invitation to look deeper and open the door to see the magic inside. Also it will keep it cleaner. tfs
This is AMAZING!! Absolutely STUNNING. Nuts ... missed the sale.... that's what happens when you are soooo behind!! If I were hanging it I would remove the door, if I were putting it on a table of shelf I would leave the door attached and open. If I were selling it I would leave the door for the purchaser to decide. Gotten RUN.... headed to Patreon!! SOOOO EXCITED you have added a Patreon!!
Absolutely genius idea! I would leave the case as it is! Let people open it to see the beautiful treasures inside on their own. (Maybe a tiny welcome sign on the door knob wouldn’t go amiss 😉)
Oh, I’d definitely keep the door. It adds mystery…and inspires curiosity, anyone who wants to see inside (and everyone will) can just open the door. Makes it even more more fun!! This diorama is pure deliciousness! I loved it. PS: You can absolutely add videos to Patreon. Those I already support there use videos all the time. Makes it much more interesting and adds value for supporters!
Incredible detail . great project. I would keep glass door to make it interactive. Looking forward to your next video and yes please more pebble skipping action across slow moving river...so soothing.
Your creativity is amazing. Making all those super tiny things would drive me nuts. Such a beautiful job on your cabinet. Not sure what I'd do about the door. Since the glass is original, I think that's rather special so I might lean towards leaving it on.
I think you should keep the door on. In addition to keeping out dust, the door adds to the wonderful layers of discovery that are a part of miniature rooms.
It is a thing of beauty, if it were mine I would leave the glass on , I like the ripply glass and the vintage of it , plus it will keep everything free from dust , also I think there is something nice about opening the door to look closer at the little world .
A pleasure to wake up! I have an old, not antique, clock like this as well that doesn’t work and have wanted to make some with it. This is a great idea! I would keep the door. Adds another level of interest and keeps dust out better. Love Heather it’s too bad she isn’t making videos anymore. Lastly, the patreon is a great idea! I already have one with Eva.
I am in love with your diorama. Unbelievable, Nick. As a miniaturist myself, I started as a little girl, I've learned that once you start, it is really hard to stop with the project; the ideas keep flowing. I can see that you had tons of fun doing this. Bravo.
What accuracy, sense of time and sense of style. Keep the door to protect it from dust (quite hard to clean, I guess ;)) and open it from time to time to admire.
This clock tower is absolutely stunning. I would seriously want to live in it as well as in your book nook. I would keep the door to make it look more intriguing and mysterious. Great work with the creation.
What a beautiful re-imagination (is that a word??) of a Seth Thomas clock, with your signature attention to detail. I would keep the door on as it contributes to the authenticity of the piece as well as adds a little mystery (and dust protection, as others have mentioned). Brava!
Wow, Nik! Your diorama is absolutely beautiful! Your creations never fail to amaze me. Your creativity and how you improvise to make your creations look so wonderful and authentic always inspires me. I think I would leave the glass door on if it was my decision. I agree with another viewers comment that keeping the door on could help with dust. Thanks so much for sharing your creativity and time with us, when I see that you have uploaded on RUclips I get excited! 😊 💕
Self-Respecting Hoarders unite! This! Is! FABULOUS! I'm thinking keep the door on and maybe do a collage or do an image of the "outside" of the building, so that the door opens to the inside. Or use it as a frame for Victorian photos or make it a shallow butterfly specimen box. Or move on to the next project, because you prolly already have. Ha!
i would keep it covered with glass - just to keep it protected - Nik this is such a wonderful piece of art - it was my passion to create goodies for my English Tutor doll house that my uncle made for me - i truly love what you created - and that hidden staircase too - that you so much for all of your inspiration - your creativity is beyond words - thank you again and be well Nik 🤗
This just bowls me over! Truly unbelievable. I’d keep the door on. I love the idea that there is an intrigue behind the door. Your skills and imagination are amazing!
Omg Nik, so happy I found you years ago because you always surprise me everytime. I love what you make and I love to hear you speak about what you are doing. Thnx for bringing us along, be safe xXx
I absolutely LOVE this!!! I have been anxiously waiting for the reveal and it was definitely worth the wait. As for the door, I would definitely leave it on and closed most of the time to protect it. Open it when you have company coming over or when you just want to admire it.
This is amazing! I just love that it's an old clock remake. I have one word, regarding the to keep or not to keep the door on: DUST. Dust is my nemesis and if I could I would have glass doors on everything crafty/books and so on... So, my vote goes to keep the door. It gives an extra reveal when it's opened too. :)
WOW this is amazing 🤩 you are truly so talented, love the details and I personally would leave the door on for the same reasons people have commented below 😊 you are a true artist, always enjoy watching your videos. Thank you so much for sharing 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
Definitely a masterpiece! Wonderful idea and impeccable execution. Love your work. I would want the glass door left on... Between dust and misc cat hair I would want the artistry protected
Nik!! You continue to shock, awe, and amaze us (in the best possible ways). This clock has a history and a story, and you allowed it to be told, while adding yours to it. I'm team Keep the Door-there's the intrigue of peeking into the scene from the outside, then the magic of opening the door to a tiny and wondrous world to explore more closely. Plus, original glass??!? You almost HAVE to keep it because of that alone! You have an insane amount of patience and ideas (and not to mention dexterity). You continue to inspire us, and are truly a calming gift in this chaotic world. Thank you for sharing your endless talents with us 💙💙
I would leave it on until you decide what you’re going to do with it, because a person buying it might want the door on. I would leave it off at my house, though. 😊 I shouldn’t be shocked when you make stuff like this, but I still am…mind blown! 😮
Wow! I felt like I could climb in and be part of history in the clock tower. Love your creativity. Leave the door and display the way you have it in the video with the door open.
You make an absolutely wonderful diorama. Love what you did! I would probably keep the glass, it will be very cool when you can open the door and look in the diorama. Maybe make a nice pattern to put on the glass so you can still see all the miniatures when the door is closed.
Just when I think you've done something amazing-you out do yourself by doing something more amazing. I so love this-I would love it to be a teachable tutorial. It's amazing Nik!!!!!
So gorgeous!! Leave the door on. It will protect the inside from dust etc. I think too, the glass door will draw a viewer in and want to peak around the corner to see more. Thanks Nik🥰!!!
Nik this is incredible. I love what your mind creates. If this was in my house I would definitely have the glass door on. I think it adds to the charm of the piece. TFS ❤
Love it Miss Nik... I would leave the glass door on... Way to cool to take it or have it off... So much more of an adventure to open up & look inside... The Art 🎨 of exploration.... The Art 🎨 of the hunt... Thx 🙏 for sharing your creativity 🎨 with us... Sincerely sincere Miss Judith 🌹... xx 🎶
Hi Nik! I love what you made! Almost looks like poshed borrowers live there! As for the door, I would just leave it: first, it's an original periodic (probably handmade) glass; second, if you ever want to sell it, it will ad value; third, it will keep some of the inevitable dust off and you always can open the door to have a better look at the details; and last, if you (or your potential byer) at some point want to put a glass, wouln't be a shame to have to buy a new one when you already have one that fits perfectly? I will become a patreon as soon as i'm finished here! Hi from Belgium!
Wow, simply incredible the patience you have to create this masterpiece! I’d leave the door on, hang it on the wall and have the door open. It is stunning! Debbie:)
It’s just fabulous!! I would want the door on the piece so I could close it to move it, etc, but I would remove the door once I hung it up so I could see the inside better. Love it! 😍
Great job Nik, and your video tour of the miniature was like I was there looking at it in person. At my house, it would be definitely keep the door on, because I have too many dust kittens (dust bunnies) in my house, because of my super fluffy Tom, a gentle Maine Coon cat 😺. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas
Nik, this is so freakin' fabulous!!! I would keep the door on: 1. to keep out dust, and 2. for a sense of mystery and awe. (oooooooo.... what's behind that door?!?!?) Apparently, I need to get out more...
I love this!!! Leave the door on but accessible to see inside just to keep it dust free. Thank you for sharing. I want to see the building of this beautiful creation in progress.
This is absolutely fantastic. I have always appreciated your eye for detail, period accuracy and talent. Thank you Nik, for this particular Victorian inspiration.
Man you musta had a blast creating all the tiny pieces and seeing all the details come together. It's absolutely incredible Nik. The stories you can create by looking and then opening the door...
I would keep the door because it gives a tantalising view into the tower. It invites visitors to be curious with its wobbly glass panels. Love the project! It has real atmosphere. You could create a story around the tower. I can almost visualise the Dickensian character who sits at that desk! Thanks. I look forward to more of your videos.
Fantastic. Please leave the door on. You could open it any time you wanted to. A sort of private little world to look on and ponder. Thanks for sharing.
What an amazing creation, I absolutely love it! I can't even imagine how much work went into it. I would leave the glass door on as I think it is part of the interactive process of opening the door then visually 'walking' into the scene, if that makes sense. And you joined Patreon...so awesome!! Yes you can upload videos in Patreon.
Oh my gosh Nik! This is just amazing! Probably my very favorite thing you’ve created thus far (I love all of your art but this…!). Also, the music you chose for the intro to this video was perfect. Thank you for sharing this treasure!
I would personal keep the door on, it make it look better and it provides protection for the items inside from being broken or lost. That is a nice work.
The diorama is amazing! I like that you repurposed the clock into something so creative and interesting. You truly are an artist. You're definitely the most artistic hoarder I've ever seen. If we're voting on what to do with the door, I vote that you keep the clock door as it will keep the dust out/off the diorama (unless, dusty is the look you want to go for; it does fit the theme.) I like the idea of opening the door to finding a new, miniature world. Another option would be to take out the glass panels from the door and replace it with either a clear plastic panel (to simulate glass), or, to replace the glass with a digital image panel of another old-timey place that would also suit the space (ex. dressmaker workshop, ballet studio, or garden), so you get two old-timey scenes in one project: one on the door (via digital image panels) and the other is the actual diorama. You can also change the digital art panels for some awesome variations to match the seasons or other themes. I'm just spit-balling some ideas here: you are the door keeper/remover of this project.
@@NiktheBooksmith I'm sure you would have thought of it at some point. It's an awesome project, regardless of what you decide to do. I just had another idea for the door panels: what if they were double sided so when you open the door, you can extend the scene to another room?
Yes, you can upload videos to patreon. A lot of creators make the videos available on patreon a few days before they go on general release - helps to encourage folks to sign up.
Fabulous. I would leave the door on. I would display it with the door open the way you showed it in video. If the door is on it can be closed against dust.
Amazing!! Wow! I love this so much! You are so talented!! I could stare at this for hours. My imagination goes off into another world! What a sweet creation!!
Ok, I am really late to this party but here is what I love about having the door on. One is purely from a protective standpoint but at the same time serves as the draw, for me anyway... who doesn't want to know what is behind the "door"? the glint of glass draws the eye, the eye leads the mind to want to know more. My mother was a miniaturist with work displayed at the Miniature Museum. Although I wasn't particularly interested in doing it, I found the 'how' of doing it fascinating. The door on, but open for me, serves as a cabinet of curiosities in a way. To have the door off would soo take away from the piece as a whole. Just my rambling thoughts... but if it was me.... door on, often opened Spectacular work, as always... btw
Beautiful! Thank you - I would not remove the door on it, just for the sake of reducing dusting, but also I like having to open it to discover something within (interactive!)
Outstanding! Always a joy to watch your videos. The first time I came across a video where the artist referred to her stash, I knew I had found my tribe! I would like to see the door as 1 piece of glass so it isn’t cut in two visually. It’s a fabulous work of art! ❤ SayessDesign
This is so stunning! Love every detail! If this was mine I would definitely leave the door on. Old glass is cool anyway plus it helps protect the intricate pieces from dust. Can open the door for a closer look and then close it up again to protect it.
This turned out amazing! I think I would leave that lovely old door on.
I would keep the door on just to keep it dust free.. If someone wants to really look at all the details, they can just open the door... This is so amazing in so many ways! Thanks, Nik! 😍💖
This is exactly what I was going to write plus: this is Art!! Stunning! Thank you, Nik! And Rory =)

That is a brilliant idea, Kathy! Thank you for sharing your experienced insight, it is very much appreciated!

Please keep the door. It adds a little mystery.
Very nice❣️

You are freakishly talented. 😍 👏 💖 I think the door should remain on for both protection and aesthetics. Really great job.
Nik, that’s beautiful. I would leave the door on to reduce dust ( lots of that in my house 😂). Also having a door adds to the mystery and leads you to want to explore. X

I love moving parts in my miniatures, so would keep the cool door with rippled glass. It's another joy!

You make an absolutely wonderful diorama. Love what you did! I would probably keep the glass, it will be very cool when you can open the door and look in the diorama. Maybe make a nice pattern to put on the glass so you can still see all the miniatures when the door is closed.
That is awesome! Thank you for sharing the adventure; I can imagine a clock tender sitting there and tending the clock. Just great!

Glass door makes it more intriguing.
I would keep the door on. I keep thinking of dust accumulation. Love, love, LOVE this!❤️
I too would keep the door on to keep as much of the original clock as possible and on a practical note (as previously commented) to keep it dust free.

This is so cool! I'd leave the glass door on. It can be opened to get a better look but it will preserve it more with it closed.
The diorama is amazing! I like that you repurposed the clock into something so creative and interesting. You truly are an artist. You're definitely the most artistic hoarder I've ever seen. If we're voting on what to do with the door, I vote that you keep the clock door as it will keep the dust out/off the diorama (unless, dusty is the look you want to go for; it does fit the theme.)
I like the idea of opening the door to finding a new, miniature world.
Thank you so much, I would have never thought of that! =)
Love the door. I would leave it on and open it when I wanted.
Fabulous. I would leave the door on. I would display it with the door open the way you showed it in video. If the door is on it can be closed against dust.
Wow! Just amazing. Door on, definitely-help keep the dust out.
Amazing!! Wow! I love this so much! You are so talented!! I could stare at this for hours. My imagination goes off into another world! What a sweet creation!!
Love it! Amazing work! Personally, I would store the glass. So much eye candy is hidden with the glass on.
Either way, looks awesome!
keep the door, absolutely wonderful
Leave the door! The interactive part is part of the charm.
Just my rambling thoughts... but if it was me.... door on, often opened Spectacular work, as always... btw
Leave the door on - it's beautiful
What a fabulous project!! I love this. I would leave the door on to keep the dust out.
I have cats, so the door would stay on. This is lovely!
Bravo Nik! I love it! If you decide to remove the glass you should consider saving it just in case. 😍
Just great Nic!! Love it! ❤❤❤
Just WOW!!! and Door On is my opinion.

Amazing Nik, I would keep the door, thank you for your videos. Love your humor too
This is so stunning! Love every detail! If this was mine I would definitely leave the door on. Old glass is cool anyway plus it helps protect the intricate pieces from dust. Can open the door for a closer look and then close it up again to protect it.
The doors. Got to go! Love it!!
This is glorious. Reminds me of Hugo, one of my favorite movies. I made your little bookcase and books - so much fun! Now to find a clock case!
